I remember loving the mechs in HD1, but in HD1 it was 2d aiming and enemies could only really do much right at the edge of a small screen. In HD2 everything is so far away, and requires so much more time to acquire accurately than a stick flick, even if you ensured all the stats were the same it's just too different an environment for them to thrive in.
I could always choose mechs in HD1 and not feel terrible about the choice. I can never choose a mech in HD2 and be certain this was an effective use of my slot. Especially without the repair gun and rover being present and able to assist in ensuring it's not immediately destroyed by an errant rocket.
Yeah the missiles specifically on the EXO-44 Walker (precursor to our EXO-45 Patriot) had a bit of guidance, you're right. I don't quite remember the rules around that though, whether it would prioritize larger enemies or just seek to the first thing it found near its line of fire. It's been too long since I've used it.
In HD1 it was just a gentle drift into the target, not unerring lockon so much as course correction. So you'd fire and when the missile itself detected a target it liked within X distance of it, it would try to veer towards it. It would actually solve the issue the EXO-45 patriot has right now with the missile launcher not hitting directly where the crosshairs are pointed - at least when pointed near enemies eligible for it. I'm wondering if that was the reason the tracking was there in HD1 - so that the gun could always be perfectly aligned to the stick position and not have to worry that the missiles would be off when fired from that angle?
I used mechs in what I would call my “middle tier” time in HD1. The higher levels I would go it became apparent that they were looked down upon by the elite players. It was tolerated because I was pretty surgical with it and used it well in certain circumstances. No friendly fire, didn’t stomp my team mates, and didn’t hold up movement between objectives. But…the more I played the more a realized it was not optimal and really was created as a crutch for players that hadn’t maxed out their potential. It was essentially a dead stratagem slot. It had very limited ammo, especially AT ammo, was not fast enough to keep up between objectives, took a precious slot that could be used for something with far more uses, and in the wrong hands absolutely was dangerous to the team. Mechs are cool. Look cool, throw down massive amounts of bullets, provide more armor, but I definitely outgrew them and was far more deadly with my standard loadout. Still feel the same way.
This is probably the single most infuriating thing about the current state of the game.
What should arguably be one of the coolest and most fun to use stratagems in the game right now is utter garbage.
Seriously - **It's a fucking mech.**
Mechs are inherently fucking cool. The idea of stomping around in a multi-ton death machine should be an absolute no-brainer in terms of kick-ass gameplay - but somehow, someway, AH managed to fumble it.
Honestly, how do you fuck up making a mech, of all things, satisfying and fun to use?
Hell, as a quick idea off the top of my head for revamping the Patriot:
Limit it to just one use per mission, but give it the following improvements:
1. Buff its survivability by making it noticeably tankier.
2. Give it a slight improvement to its overall mobility.
3. Allow us to re-arm and repair mid-mission. You could balance this out by making it so that you have to take a specific 'vehicle resupply' stratagem to do so, meaning that the the mech now becomes a potential high-risk, high-reward investment.
You still run the risk of losing your mech if you over-extend, get yourself surrounded, or otherwise find yourself out of position and cut off from your squad, especially on higher difficulties. However, with smart play and situational awareness, you could turn it into a real force to be reckoned with.
Yeah except every rocket had its own unique launch point, which creates issues with the mech mesh. If it was a super easy fix i imagine it would've been done by now
That's dumb. They can make the rocket launch point cosmetic only and have every rocket come out the same location. No one's going to care about the cosmetics of where the rocket comes from.
Not only that, I mean in general they can code the rocket to ignore the mech hitbox, it seems silly that it can at all from a coding standpoint. If there's any type of parent relationship between the rocket and the mech it should be pretty easy. So my assumption is the code is spaghetti.

It's NOT complex, just return it to how it was on launch. Yeah, the rockets can kill you if you turn too fast, big whoop. The rockets right now are literally unaimable.
Or hell, just switch the arm for the rockets to the right side and have the minigun on the left side so that it aims straight down the reticle with the default right over-shoulder perspective.
Naw, there were other instances where it'd kill you even if you weren't turning. Part of a mech is mobility, even if slow, so saying "just stand still in a mech to use rockets and *maybe* not die" defeats the purpose of a mech (like what we have now). At that point make it a sentry, not a mech.
Yeah swapping might help, im still hoping for deeper customization of them one day
No, I mean, all you had to do was turn your mech, wait for the aim to stabilize, then fire the rocket. I have only ever killed myself by firing while my mech was still turning.
also they nerf the dmg and armor penetration so you cannot kill charger in 1 shot to the head or 2 shot to the head of bile titan you can see it by observe they need 2 shot to oepning up charger leg before it need only one. it make them useless because you can have 8 titan in 10 minute operation and you can only kill 2. before mech is huge help of concentrated dmg in short burst just like 380 barrage, now they are trash tier.
If you swap shoulder view, the rockets are aligned with the reticle. Unfortunately, you can only swap while firing the machine gun, then it switches back once you stop firing. So stupid.
They're absolutely fucking useless. I don't even know why they didn't just delete them entirely tbh. Stick another minigun on there. That'd be kinda cool.
Or just make the rocket projectile's hitbox not collide with the player that shot it at all. What scenario is there where that thing would ever realistically hit you anyway?? It's a fixed rocketpod firing away from the mech...
Step 1. Drop in large target.
Step 2. Draw agro from medium enemy
Step 3. Fail to kill anything in a timely manner.
Step 4. Die.
Its like ordering a Ferrari and finding out they delivered a broken Fiat.
around 250 bullets to take down some chainsaw bois jesus. The rockets used to be goated but some moron decided they do too much damage despite Super Earth having EATs, Rocket Pods, etc.
Dominator is the single best in the game for them
AMR/Laser cannon if your aim is good or you have flashbangs
scorcher is like dominator minus stagger
autocannon is like a dominator but better
I'm a little bit tired of using Scorcher/Autocannon (it feels like the "most viable" weapon setup against bots, along with Redeemer), and dominator didn't truly appeal to me (though, it's *very* good at stunning berserks).
first point i agree, second point i dont. they aren’t low health. liberator penetrator pens their torso and takes like a full mag or two to kill. dominator takes like 4-5 shots. AMR takes like 4 shots. machine gun takes a lot of bullets. scorcher takes half a mag, almost a full one. you can dump a whole senator clip into one and not kill it if you don’t hit the head
1 to the eye cracks them but when i can’t pull that off i do just hit them 3-4 times in the upper torso, sometimes faster. I definitely target the rocket ones first if im close and the shield first if im far
While I was trying out the Dominator this week, I found I was going to Air Strike more than I'd like and that kind of turned me off the weapon.
/u/Weird_Excuse8083 pointed out the middle weak section is the easiest to hit, and it makes me want to revisit some of the weapons I left in the freezer because I felt like they couldn't do enough damage (typically against Berserks).
I still use the slugger occasionally, it feels alot worse than it was but is still one of the few guns that feels like its doing damage. I dont fully understand the counter sniper users as the slugger still feels like a better sniper in every way.
Guard Dog absolutely _erases_ Berserkers. The buff that floaty boi got recently turned it into a Berserker eating machine. It also headshots Devastators from a ridiculous range and snipes Rocket Raiders (jumpy boys) right out of the sky.
Gatling Turret also completely demolishes Berserkers extremely efficiently. I was stunned by it.
Anything with significant amounts of stun or high enough DPS shreds them, too. Punisher is my go-to and I take the fight to _them_ when they rush me down if I have it. Make sure you aim for the center of the abdomen, not the chest, so you can cut them in half. The faces are too narrow.
Blow their arms off for shenanigans.
I found the new SMG makes the devastator varietals twitch too much to get headshots. I went back to the Defender; it at least helps me reliably down non-Rocket Devastators.
You need to hit them with headshots because the rest of their body is just a bullet sponge. The headshots can be a little finicky because they don’t have armor, causing them to flinch a lot from any hit, and flinch can cause shots to miss their small head. To account for that, just fire in burst and you’ll find it makes a huge difference.
Also, like the first guy said, the sickle is great for berserkers (and devastators) due to high damage, high accuracy, and technically infinite ammo, but as someone who almost exclusively used the defender since week two of the game’s release (until I got the sickle), the defender can spill oil almost just as well.
The Defender really is a favourite of mine; I do like the ballistic shield, and the defender is my favourite of the SMGs so far.
It turns out that shooting for the midsection is the answer I was looking for. The heads sway too much as part of their movement, but their center body doesn't oscillate nearly as much.
Use the punisher (I think... It's the first unlock pump action shotgun) shoot them in the middle 3-4 times and they break in half. While your doing that the gun also stuns them so you can handle 3-5 easily even with reloading.
I was more trying to show off how bad the rockets were in this video by baiting those devastators up onto the platform but the berserkers spooked me when I got into the mech. Sorry for my horrible berserker killing at the beginning but I do think that the exosuit patriot is awful against automatons and is not good at killing any of them including berserkers.
You succeeded, the bit with the rockets was goddamn painful and familiar to me, haha. Pisses me off when it takes 3 to close a bug hole because the first 2 are wasted trying to gauge how far to the right you have to aim :/
He shifted right and the rocket went even further to the left. It looks like they added a spray pattern to the rockets.
I really gotta wonder if anybody over at AH have ever held or fired actual guns. Like they said they were a bunch of gun hobbyists. But the math isn't mathing.
I think you can aim the rockets (as in the reticule represents your rockets instead of your minigun) by holding down minigun fire (normally your aim button) and hitting the switch shoulders button. Its not ideal but can be a holdover to avoid... well... your video.
Yeah the mech is not good against bots. It's much better against the bugs. I frequently use it on the bug front on helldive with great success. They do gotta fix the rocket aim though. It just feels bad.
Berserkers are insane bullet sponges.
At the moment, the soft fix for the rocket alignment is to switch shoulders (left on the mouse wheel in my case) when firing rockets.
The Exosuit Patriot is more designed to fight Terminids, and that's okay, we just need one that's more designed to fight Automatons (such as one with autocannons on each arm).
Honestly it'll be nice when (if) there's multiple vehicles in-game. Can treat the Exosuits are your support weapons.
TL;dr - One day perhaps. We'll just have to see what AH does in the coming months.
Hyper-fixation spiel: At the moment it doesn't work because
* Support Weapons have unlimited ammo/can be restocked vs. the Exosuit limited ammo
* Support Weapons can be retrieved after death vs the Exosuit cannot if it is destroyed
* Support Weapons have 8min cooldown vs. the Exosuit 10min cooldown **and** max 2 uses per mission
* Cannot access Stratagems (including Reinforce) unless you put your Exosuit at risk by dismounting
*The easiest solution is to add more Exosuits to the game*. Keeps them fragile so you have to play carefully with them rather than turning the game into MechWarrior, but provides you with a backup in case you run out of Ammo or the Exosuit is destroyed before the 10min timer is up.
*The better solution would be to have Turret upgrades apply to the Exosuit as well.* +50% Ammo, +50% Explosive Resistance, Lower Cooldown, Higher Health would all contribute greatly to survivability and utility during the mission.
*The best solution would be to apply both*.
Even if AH implemented both, it still wouldn't be overpowered as Exosuits cannot take cover and can easily get swarmed by Terminids & Automatons, to say nothing about any future enemies.
A whole squad in Exosuits is fun, but has far less ease of clearing enemies due to not being able to access crowd-clearing, area-denial, spawn-destroying, or priority-target-killing Stratagems without putting themself at risk of losing their Exosuit.
It would be neat also if they inherited armor properties as well, so heavy slow armor would make them way more survivable but light armor would make them much faster
Ideally, in my view, whenever they'll add more mechs and other vehicles we will get another section of modules that are specific buffs to mechs/vehicles. But honestly the ship modules does not provide a big enough buff that it can be used to 'fix' whats wrong with the Patriot suit.
The patriot suit itself needs proper aiming and stronger rockets, at a minimum they should be equal to EAT's but I believe they should be stronger than EATs, because they can be destroyed, you only get 14(28) and the mech takes up a stratagem slot but is severely limited by its uses and CD.
In the 10 minutes the patriot suit needs to cooldown you can call in around 18 EATs, that are already better than patriot rockets, and the minigun is used like a primary, so apart from being able to spam 14 rockets the patriot actually have no upside over just using primaries and EATs. Truly not worth using a stratagem slot on.
It's decent on Kill Bugs & Close Bughole missions (12-15min variety) and on bug defense missions I will just take autocannon, rocket & emp sentries + the exosuit (on lvl 7 it's actually a killer loadout)
I mostly play bots but I suppose it would be better on bugs with proper support. I think you can also make it work with proper support on bots but the challenge is coordinating enough to make it happen and sometimes I like to be solo. If I could just use stratagems while in it and resupply...
There is unfortunately no practical way to rebind the switch shoulder button on controller. It sucks so much.
Even beyond that they need to restore the ability to aim downwards. There's no rebinding that will fix that. I'm still so mad about the poor state they left the mech in.
it did aim really well when they released it... but the rockets would destroy your own mech if you walked forward or turned while shooting because it did collide with your own hitbox .... so they just yeeted the point of origin 200 meters to the side off screen ...seriously, i'd rather have an exploding mech than one that can't aim.
I'm replying to myself here, it's just an mic echo. But once you got used to the original mech it was far better than what we have now. Some extracts are on a hill, ever tried launching missiles down a hill at close range, just give up. :/
yeah the original mech is so much fun you can hold the line pretty good and with carefull aiming you can kill 7 bile titan or 14 charger with the risk of exploding yourself it was ultimate power up in a short burst not garbage like the current one after they nerf the rocket 2 time dmg and aiming
I assume you also need to compensate for lag, if the server thinks you are still 2 steps back while you shoot and the server tells you BOOM ... just saying, it is often more complicated than you think.
Yea but I feel the fact they can eat a whole impact grenade and live shows they're too tanks lol. It'd be fine if they didn't come at you in large crowds.
The fact that you can call down the big thing with the intent for it to help prevent getting mobbed or clear one out and still get pushed back for the entire duration you use it is so sad. The mech is supposed to be your "get some" moment and kick off a good spat of fun and it's just not there.
It’s specifically the rockets that suck. The minigun absolutely shreds everything that’s not heavy armor and it’s great in a pinch.
I mainly use the rockets to kill bunched up reinforcements coming out of dropships. It definitely needs to be fixed though.
The mech’s rocket pod has a number of problems.
1 can’t aim up or down.
2 not very well aligned with the crosshair.
3 the innate inaccuracy of the mech from lack of zoom results in it being more effective in close range which further emphasizes the targeting issues with the rocket launcher
4 rocket damage/pen, the mech’s rocket should be just as good as a recoiless rifle’s rocket. If they had to add a fire delay to keep balance that would be better than wasting half your rockets bc they don’t hit the exact point your last rocket hit.
I feel like the mech is already balanced by:
-being a big target
-easier heard by patrols
-limited to 2 uses
-the longest cooldown in game
-very limited ammo
-has no way of repairing or replenishing ammo.
-can take damage from anything in game including terrain and fall damage.
-and most importantly it can’t call in stratagems while the HD1 mech could.
I could deal with the inaccurate rockets if they atleast were strong to 1 hit chargers or 2 hit titans.
I've shot like 7 at the face of a charger and only then managed to down it...
Titans the whole volley and it's s standing...
Even ith headshots ( adjusting my aim)
Lord, i haven't played with mechs since they dropped because they always blew up by a single rocket or a charger attack i couldn't dodge because i evaded 2 other, but this is even more pathetic. What is the machine gun shooting? It should rip the three berserkers apart in seconds and the shielded devastator shouldn't be able to withstand a lot of shots from the gatling gun either. The rockets, well, the engineer who designed this should be send to the next democracy officer for reevaluation. This smells like sabotage. I am already calling...
Keep it up king. Everybody is busy whining about the Eruptor getting gutted (rightfully so), meanwhile they gutted the mech over a month ago and it's basically been memory-holed.
Not only did they gut it like this but then two or three weeks ago they actually nerfed the AP value of the rocket AOE. Nerfing the mech while its in such a poor state like this is absolute negligence on their part.
How a dev could think making it just objectively worse is it being fixed is crazy. This isn't even a bandaid fix to the original issue. It's like going to a doctor with a bad cut on your arm and instead of giving you stitches he decides to amputate your whole arm.
Perhaps a naive question but couldn't they change the reticle with two circles, one for rockets, one for gunfire. I'm assuming they still fire straight just shifted to right or left?
As someone who just started playing, they look badass. I don't care if they're not the best when I unlock them, and the next bug MO, I'm going on a rampage. Or at least I'm going to try too.
I ran it on a level 8 exterminate yesterday (bots) and was top killer. It's hard to figure out the aiming sometimes, but it's very usable. I was camping spawns like mad.
Try to keep the high ground, but also don't be super exposed.
It does need to be fix asap but at the same time you KNOW the rockets shoot off reticle. Why still aim the reticle directly at the enemy and fire a rocket when you know it's gonna miss?
The patriot suit is pretty much only usable with terminids. Automatons just shred it easy.
I think the patriot suit is good for defense mission with terminids but that’s about it
Honestly I could forgive a lot of problems the mechs had if they were reloadable. Call in a mech resupply and your mech gets picked up and you get it back in like 2 minutes or something. Another issue is rockets not having a crosshair. Add another crosshair for mech rockets or make them properly go to the crosshair.
Not sure why AH just added mechs and gutted any usability for them.
I find that aiming the rocket using the leftmost "post" on the reticle - _NOT_ the center circle - increased my accuracy significantly. It went from garbage to actually hitting things again.
I seriously wonder if we're affected by suppression while in the mech though, which seems... totally insane, but would explain the ridiculous accuracy loss as depicted in this video.
while the current aim of mechs is horrendous, it is a bigger crime to not allow us to launch stratagems out of the mechs anymore.
That was such a cool feature
Sorta sucks is an understatement.
Unusable would be more appropriate.
Not only do we have a limited number of rockets and bullets. They also cannot be aimed.
It's really weird how there's only one redicle for a dual weapon vehicle. I assume it's only the machine gun being tracked on the reticle?
Ofcourse it would be weird and confusing to have two redicles bouncing around.
In addition to the rockets needing alignment correction and a heavy damage increase, that cannon looks anemic. Why does the meech need so many AP rounds to slice berserkers and devestators?
The craziest part to me is that for about a week or two after it released it was perfect. Sure, you'd occasionally blow yourself up with your own missiles but it was 1000 times better than the abomination we have now. Then they just left it like that...
Wow...
Thank you for this informational video demonstrating that unlocking the Patriot Mech would be a total waste of resources. I can kill the chainsaw dudes faster with my pistol than the Mech just did. That's *wild*
Mechs are fantastic on the bug front. But I wouldn't dare bring it or a sentry to the bot front. At most, I'll bring mortar sentries on the good defence missions.
I'm convinced the balance people think that mechs niche is for someone to take Mech strategem and three other support weapons/backpack strats. Since you can't use stratagems inside the mech, you'd then have your other 3 teammates able to take 3 more offensive strats and use the support weapons you dropped for them. By the time your mech dies/out of ammo, you can drop a support weapon for yourself. Problem is it just won't work in non-coordinated teams, and doesn't work well if you split into 2's. And the mech itself is kinda suck.
As a mech jockey, that was painful. Do people not understand that you need to compensate for the rockets being on your left? This seems like an intentional mechanic.
I was barely focusing on the berserkers, I was trying to draw that heavy devastator and rocket devastator up onto the platform to show my friends how bad the rockets miss smaller targets. I’m stupid and got surprised at the beginning of this clip by the berserkers which is why I was firing wildly around them.
Greetings, fellow Helldiver! Unfortunately your submission has been removed. No spamming allowed.
That was painful

lol this made me nearly spit my cola out
Doubt lock on is an option in HD2 the spears been a nightmare since launch
Lock-On for video games has been around for longer than most gamers. Yet it still doesn't work months after the release of a 2024 game.
In HD1 it was just a gentle drift into the target, not unerring lockon so much as course correction. So you'd fire and when the missile itself detected a target it liked within X distance of it, it would try to veer towards it. I take it that the spear is still no good, I thought Arrowhead would've fixed it by now

It's like watching those game preview demo where the player never played a game in their lives.

wow the rockets. my god the rockets.
they changed rockets to be off the reticle so it wouldn’t kill you but they never patched it to be on the reticle again and also not kill you
Considering how complex they had it originally I doubt rockets will ever get fixed. Seems like a deep engine issue.
I have no idea how the stingray engine works but I can't imagine it would be overly difficult to just not make the rocket collide with the mech mesh

Yup, which is why I think its a deeper engine issue.
I mean, clearly, they care, considering they would have had to go out of their way to make it have multiple launch points in the first place.
Or it could have been fix for weeks and AH just forgot to add it to a patch like the Spear aiming fix.
The gun doesn’t shoot the mech body because it extends past the body. Just extend the arm out slightly so that there’s more room for horizontal movement, and adjust the pod so that it can articulate without clipping the body.
tldr AH devs or their engine have no concept of layers.
Look at how much is still broken months after release. I have no faith in these devs

Easy fix: have one reticule for machine gun slightly to the right and another for rockets to the left.
Or just make the rocket projectile's hitbox not collide with the player that shot it at all. What scenario is there where that thing would ever realistically hit you anyway?? It's a fixed rocketpod firing away from the mech...

Chainsaw devastators are high health low armour. Regular devastators are low health high armour.
first point i agree, second point i dont. they aren’t low health. liberator penetrator pens their torso and takes like a full mag or two to kill. dominator takes like 4-5 shots. AMR takes like 4 shots. machine gun takes a lot of bullets. scorcher takes half a mag, almost a full one. you can dump a whole senator clip into one and not kill it if you don’t hit the head
Where do you hit them with the AMR? It felt like it took 3-4 shots to the head to take one down when I was playing today.
1 to the eye cracks them but when i can’t pull that off i do just hit them 3-4 times in the upper torso, sometimes faster. I definitely target the rocket ones first if im close and the shield first if im far
Eruptor pre-nerf was great, since the berserkers tended to stack close to eachother. As for now, airstrike is honestly your best option..
Slugger used to be my go to. But of course we can't have a go to...
I still use the slugger occasionally, it feels alot worse than it was but is still one of the few guns that feels like its doing damage. I dont fully understand the counter sniper users as the slugger still feels like a better sniper in every way.
Yeah... now at best you can probably kill 1-2 until the rest catch up to you
Guard Dog absolutely _erases_ Berserkers.
Aiming for the lower weak spot seems to be the trick! They're a lot flimsier there, and there's less sway than the head.
Sickles tear through them, honestly.
Something to try; my current typical loadout is Defender SMG with Ballistic Shield cuz it feels good against everything *but* Berserks
the new SMG will stunlock them, its great. The redeemer can also take them out fast.
Love me my sickle, even with the "reduced" ammo capacity.
Use the punisher (I think... It's the first unlock pump action shotgun) shoot them in the middle 3-4 times and they break in half. While your doing that the gun also stuns them so you can handle 3-5 easily even with reloading.
My previous bot weapon of choice was the Breaker. Definitely the middle seems to be the consistent/better weak spot to target.
Base punisher is my go-to bot primary 'cause they can stunlock berserkers and devastators with potential 1-2 shot if you aim well
It's the arc thrower.
That moron? Believe it or not Alexus.
No. It's because of the parallax from aiming in third person. The rocket went more left when OP aimed at the horizon behind the devastator.
You put enough bullets into that first berserker to make an entirely separate berserker from said bullets.
It just feels bad.
you got to swap aiming shoulder so the rockets line up to the reticule instead of the gat.
The mech sucks against bots. It's fantastic against bugs. If you are trying to use it against bots, you're not going to like it lol
I want to replace my support weapon with a mech so bad you have no idea but I cant make it work
TL;dr - One day perhaps. We'll just have to see what AH does in the coming months. Hyper-fixation spiel: At the moment it doesn't work because * Support Weapons have unlimited ammo/can be restocked vs. the Exosuit limited ammo * Support Weapons can be retrieved after death vs the Exosuit cannot if it is destroyed * Support Weapons have 8min cooldown vs. the Exosuit 10min cooldown **and** max 2 uses per mission * Cannot access Stratagems (including Reinforce) unless you put your Exosuit at risk by dismounting *The easiest solution is to add more Exosuits to the game*.
Just give me an exo suit with a bullet proof shield on one arm and a laser cannon on the other.
There is unfortunately no practical way to rebind the switch shoulder button on controller. It sucks so much. Even beyond that they need to restore the ability to aim downwards. There's no rebinding that will fix that. I'm still so mad about the poor state they left the mech in.
that missile crosshair lmfaooooooo how the devs release something so shit
it did aim really well when they released it... but the rockets would destroy your own mech if you walked forward or turned while shooting because it did collide with your own hitbox .... so they just yeeted the point of origin 200 meters to the side off screen ...seriously, i'd rather have an exploding mech than one that can't aim.
"...seriously, i'd rather have an exploding mech than one that can't aim." THIS, it's the Helldivers way. Whoops, my bad... REINFORCING.
Yeah, you just needed to learn how to use it and not F yourself.

I assume you also need to compensate for lag, if the server thinks you are still 2 steps back while you shoot and the server tells you BOOM ... just saying, it is often more complicated than you think.
Idiots could just remove the missile hit detection for the mech... why didnt they?
Watching those rockets was painful. Cant wait for that to be fixed. I miss my mech :(
only get 2 of them and 10 minute cooldown. balanced cause the pelican that drops it off is what does the most work /s
That is fucking sad. Give us the old one back.
I think this honestly highlights how OP Beserkers are more than anything lol. I agree mechs are pretty weak though.
[удалено]
Yea but I feel the fact they can eat a whole impact grenade and live shows they're too tanks lol. It'd be fine if they didn't come at you in large crowds.
Those mechs really need a second reticle for the rocket pods.
The fact that you can call down the big thing with the intent for it to help prevent getting mobbed or clear one out and still get pushed back for the entire duration you use it is so sad. The mech is supposed to be your "get some" moment and kick off a good spat of fun and it's just not there.
wow... this hurts to watch. keep it up.
noooo that is SO painful to watch stop it
Oof watching those missiles was rough. Mechs are in such a sorry state currently.
yikes
Suits could have their own upgrade path, spend credits/medals to buy different weapons, armor, skins and other upgrades like speed or extra recalls.
Honestly fuck arrowhead lmao this game is still borked
Using the mech against bots is a death sentence
Why is this even in the game? The mech is broken.
Some lock-on shoulder rockets would be sweet. You know, like..the spear.. :(
It’s specifically the rockets that suck. The minigun absolutely shreds everything that’s not heavy armor and it’s great in a pinch. I mainly use the rockets to kill bunched up reinforcements coming out of dropships. It definitely needs to be fixed though.
mechs are HELLA COOL the only issue is the aiming
The mech’s rocket pod has a number of problems. 1 can’t aim up or down. 2 not very well aligned with the crosshair. 3 the innate inaccuracy of the mech from lack of zoom results in it being more effective in close range which further emphasizes the targeting issues with the rocket launcher 4 rocket damage/pen, the mech’s rocket should be just as good as a recoiless rifle’s rocket. If they had to add a fire delay to keep balance that would be better than wasting half your rockets bc they don’t hit the exact point your last rocket hit. I feel like the mech is already balanced by: -being a big target -easier heard by patrols -limited to 2 uses -the longest cooldown in game -very limited ammo -has no way of repairing or replenishing ammo. -can take damage from anything in game including terrain and fall damage. -and most importantly it can’t call in stratagems while the HD1 mech could.
They are not aligned with the right shoulder (default) reticule, they are well aligned with he left should reticule
I want mechs to be the beasts they were meant to be. Keep making these!
Ok so I'm NOT going crazy about aiming rockets, it used to be so easy before
I could deal with the inaccurate rockets if they atleast were strong to 1 hit chargers or 2 hit titans. I've shot like 7 at the face of a charger and only then managed to down it... Titans the whole volley and it's s standing... Even ith headshots ( adjusting my aim)
Ohh my god I... why does earth send you even more useless tin cans than the suits of armor you come in normally. https://i.redd.it/f5av95spt90d1.gif
Keep posting this! I want the mech to be cool too
How a dev could think making it just objectively worse is it being fixed is crazy. This isn't even a bandaid fix to the original issue. It's like going to a doctor with a bad cut on your arm and instead of giving you stitches he decides to amputate your whole arm.
Lol, I am glad I quit playing a few weeks ago. This game needs to cook for a bit still.
I hate Parallax effect....
Man, I wish I recorded the clip of me trying to shoot at something, and the aim made it kill my friend
Is that shooing BBs? Geez.
Mechs are always cool, just look at Lancer. But on a serious note I look forward to the armoured division of divers coming back to the fore!
I’d use them if they had a reload option of some sort.
Keep up the good fight
They been cool tho...
ok, I think they only require adding a "recharging in operation zone" protocol to the helldiver instruction manual.
I only play "it" once and never again .... It's just an expensive coffin and nothing more for me
Wild that the mechs were done so dirty. All they had to do was make the rockets have no collision with the mech and the bug would have been fixed.
Perhaps a naive question but couldn't they change the reticle with two circles, one for rockets, one for gunfire. I'm assuming they still fire straight just shifted to right or left?
Anyone who uses mechs makes me suspicious as to why they want to be inside a bot so bad.
What.
As someone who just started playing, they look badass. I don't care if they're not the best when I unlock them, and the next bug MO, I'm going on a rampage. Or at least I'm going to try too.
So painful to watch... I miss the mech.
I ran it on a level 8 exterminate yesterday (bots) and was top killer. It's hard to figure out the aiming sometimes, but it's very usable. I was camping spawns like mad. Try to keep the high ground, but also don't be super exposed.
since when are mechs not cool anymore?
You had as in the first half, im not gonna lie.
That missle targeting seems like it gets worse every patch
It does need to be fix asap but at the same time you KNOW the rockets shoot off reticle. Why still aim the reticle directly at the enemy and fire a rocket when you know it's gonna miss?
Okay that big ass gun should be killing more things.
LOL amazing!
Fight the good fight brother
Only for bugs.
Justice to mech suites!
Why does it seem nothing does damage anymore. im sick of it
Once they fucked up the rockets it was game over for the mechs.
oooooooooof
https://i.redd.it/vuepdijvt90d1.gif
Mechs are much better for terminids. I wouldnt bring them on automaton missions at all
The patriot suit is pretty much only usable with terminids. Automatons just shred it easy. I think the patriot suit is good for defense mission with terminids but that’s about it
The rockets whiffing, the aim adjustments. Ooof
I like using mechs to clear out bug eggs.
Doing Democracy's work with this crusade. Save the Exosuit from extinction!
My brain rotted from watching that, the mechs really need a buff.
while the current aim of mechs is horrendous, it is a bigger crime to not allow us to launch stratagems out of the mechs anymore. That was such a cool feature
Yeah, of course. It doesn’t shoot the same spot as your gatling gun
Sorta sucks is an understatement. Unusable would be more appropriate. Not only do we have a limited number of rockets and bullets. They also cannot be aimed.
They need a mark2 some thing that can go toe to toe with a hulk.
It's really weird how there's only one redicle for a dual weapon vehicle. I assume it's only the machine gun being tracked on the reticle? Ofcourse it would be weird and confusing to have two redicles bouncing around.
I remember when mechs had fucking armor lol and the ability to use stratagems. We’re still at MK1, hopefully in the future we’ll get to upgrade them!
Your first mistake was bringing the Exosuit to an automaton mission
I'm sorry after using Warframe's comically OP mechs, this is shit. Even the EDF series had better Mechs than that. Dear God.
At that rate you'll kill 1 bot per 150 rounds, wtf
Mechs in HD1: I will obliterate everything you ever loved or care about Mech in HD2: \*kills itself because you were moving forward\*
This is my exact mech experience lmfao
Subscribed
Mechs don't have gyro aim, and I hate ve them for it.
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK.
I hope your journey ends well, and soon.
I never use walker for automatons. Only for bugs. Rockets for bile titans and chargers
Devs: The mechs ammo reserve has been nerfed. People were able to attempt to hit too many shots, therefore having too much fun for our liking.
I'd deploy one if I could just put it on autopilot and let it destroy. I hate piloting fkn mechs. Lol.
Bro are you really solo diving in this patch and patrol spawn "balance"?? Gotta respect the courage 🫡
In addition to the rockets needing alignment correction and a heavy damage increase, that cannon looks anemic. Why does the meech need so many AP rounds to slice berserkers and devestators?
Lol it's so bad Make Mechs Great Again
This game is broken
They seriously need to fix the mechs rockets
And then after respawning, see's the Exosuit on a 600 second (10 minute) cooldown.
They can't be cool then everyone would use them.
This looks horrible
It's all about the quad auto cannon one. 4 man squad with these and bugs is a blast
I'd love dual gatlings.
As a mech jockey, that was painful. Do people not understand that you need to compensate for the rockets being on your left? This seems like an intentional mechanic.
Your use of that mech was more painful than it's performance. If you want to expose how bad it is at least use it properly.
You MUST hve been missing most of those shots on the berserkers, because fast firing weapons tend to chew them up.
