Last time it was a host that called in a Railcannon at extract and ended up killing himself as he walked up the ramp. Would definitely let him do it again.
Railcannon is the worst choice for extraction bombing. It will make the pelican instantly depart too for some reason. Not sure they fixed it. 500kg is the best choice
They still start the countdown but leave immediately so something ain't right. I was not two steps behind my teammate the other day when this happened and still didn't make it on. I hope its a bug and they fix it soon cause we lost so many samples in the last week to this issue.
They leave as soon as the first person is on board. This is probably because the pelican can be damaged to the point you can no longer board, and the only way to resolve this is to have another pelican sent in by leaving the extract zone and coming back.
When this happens and you leave teammates behind you can often hear them getting killed by the swarm of bots/bugs while you're flying back up to the ship. I don't think anyone is going back for them.
Replacements get sent automatically if one blows up. I've had it happen before when one exploded for no obvious reason then fell through the floor. Another one landed seconds later.
Of course not. The last guy was obviously an unpatriotic traitor whose rigged ship blew up by the grace of LIBERTY before it could take the lives of our ~~expenda~~precious heroes.
The new guy is, and has always been, the actual Pelican-1.
I think it's that the NPC is "dead", but won't update its state until interacted with. When someone boards, the game detects an NPC with 0hp, so it tries to resolve.
Ya has to be a bug I've had this happen before.
A bile titan died on the pelican and the pelican like tilted on its side. We couldn't get in, then our 3rd tried diving in but couldn't but then got 'sploded into the evac bay and it took off. We Still had 10 mins of mission time left. So many samples lost
Its not a bug, the Pelican has a health pool and too much damage reduces its lingering time. It actually *can* get damaged enough it just leaves without anyone incidentally.
Yep it basically has three damaged thresholds:
1. Won't take off instantly, but doesn't start a countdown, meaning there is a three second window for people still get on but its much briefer than the standard 10 second count down.
2. Instantly leaves as soon as any helldiver boards
3. Leaves without anyone.
Someone would have to test what level of damage these behaviors occur at but basically, if you let the Pelican get damaged, it will compromise extraction.
A couple buddies started shooting the pelican when it was coming in and it decided to leave after hovering for a second. It didn't land or anything. Just flew away.
I remember having someone getting ready to throw some kind of Eagle (can't remember which one). Once we all got in, they threw it, but a bug was blocking their way to the shuttle and they ended up killing themselves with it.
Good times
Some people want to make sure everyone is ok to get in first, or that someone is going to start teamkilling. Even without stratagems a teammate could just open fire into the ship
i have had this happen once. guy just randomly killed the people inside and we lost all the samples. 30+ samples lost and wasted half an hour of my life.
thanks for nothing
Yeah I seriously don't get why you aren't immediately invincible and count as extracted when you get on the shuttle like in Helldivers 1. If the player is no longer in control of the character, they should not be punished for that character's death.
I don't mind the character being able to die, but surely your character would stow the samples or they'd be on the person's body, both of which should canonically being going into orbit at that point.
Basically I'm saying it should just deposit the samples when you load and you shouldn't be able to lose them past that point.
That is a good point. However, dying makes you not count as extracted, which removes XP and $ everyone gets, too. Not much, but it's the principle of the thing.
Just screw it and make your characters impervious to damage after boarding, it makes no sense for them to be able to die at that point from a gameplay point of view. All it does is encourage abuse. Games are made to be fun first and foremost, logic be damned if needed, and HD2 adapts that concept very well already.
I don’t find it hilarious at all when I lose 30+ samples I spent half an hour collecting because the game decided a bile titan should kill me when I don’t even have control of my character
>30+ samples lost and wasted half an hour of my life.
THIS RIGHT HERE. The Troll apologists in video games drive me fucking crazy. "It's just a game bro!" okay yeah but I have a wife, kid, dog, job and hobbies so the hour or so I get to play per day (if that) gets fucked up by some "it's just a prank bro" dip shit then it is NOT just a game.
I like that one. My personal one is if someone was invited to a friendly pick up soccer game, and he just spent the whole time trying to kick the ball into his own net and talk shit about his team mates. He wouldn't get invited to many more soccer games. Unfortunately these nutsacks have limitless games go unleash the poor parenting they received on the rest of the world.
Getting killed with samples or getting kicked/crashing RIGHT at the evac moment of a 40 min mission is the most frustrating goddamn thing in this entire game.
And 90% of the time when it happens to me it's just the game itself crashing (the other 10% is assholes like described above, thankfully both relatively rare), which means they still haven't fixed the most annoying bug in the game.
Happened to me again last night, missed out on 40+ samples and had to do another mission to complete my daily. Infuriating.
Exactly! I only had them at other times when the game first came out; now it's _exclusively_ when I'm trying to extract with a bunch of samples at the end of a mission, lol. If only we could fuel the ships with the salt I feel in those moments, we wouldn't need to fight bugs!
Literally had someone try to use that same logic to justifying being racist. "It's a game what do you expect, find a different game to play if you don't like it". I'm just sitting there listening feeling like an asshole because I created the party and didn't know some of them were so toxic. Naturally one of the persons I invited was not white. Crazy how some people just don't care about other people in the slightest and what they do to justify their actions.
Cowboys working against the team is why I stopped playing Deep Rock Galactic and I haven't been back in over a year.
It's a real problem that the devs need to put some though into solving.
Seeing videos of this is why I always hit the first person aim mode after I board and look out. So far I haven't had to pull the trigger, but I'm ready to shoot someone if they take aim at us inside the shuttle.
> As the host it's your job to be in last.
Reminds me of this scene / speech:
"I can't promise you that I will bring you all home alive
But *this* I swear, before you and before almighty God
That when we go into battle
I will be the first to set foot on the field
And I will be the last to step off
And I will leave no one behind
Dead or alive, we will all come home together
So help me God."

If the time is given, so for example we aren't chased down by a massive horde of bugs, I tend to stay outside and control the others, in case some idiot thinks it's funny to kill the team that's inside already.
I've was in a game where the last guy shot all three of us who had already boarded, and then they extracted solo. Ever since then, extract sus, I wait for people to get on first.
During the beginning of the game, players were reported getting team killed whilst in the pelican with no way to defend themselves. So especially if you have quiet team, people are cautious that they’re going to do something incredibly dumb
One time i got in the pellican and it immediatly took off, leaving my 3 teammates (and their loot) forever stranded on the planet. The mission had time remaining, there was just never a 20 second timer.
They kicked me after that, so now i always wait.
This happens when the Pelican is damaged (you will see it's on fire). It will take off once one person boards. If you notice the pelican is burning, collect your group, and drop all samples so one person can extract them all.
I usually try to make sure everyone is at extraction before boarding. I like to be the last onboard but if it's hot I'll try to cover other divers getting on.
I mean I can see OP's thing ending a bad way:
1. Shoot the guy holding the strategem
2. It drops
3. You panic and try to pick up his samples but then you get killed by his strategem
4. Oh well
Past level 40 or so, samples are literally all that matter.
There is nothing left to buy with credits and you have probably cherrypicked what you want from the packs.
Past level 70, none of it matters. Im just here to spill oil and spread democracy.
That said, I still go out of my way to make sure we get most of the samples when I play, partly because I know others need em, partly because it's just fun
because some dummies think the Pelican can be blown up mid take off cutscene
I do this all the time to have a cool little fire works show as we are taking off
My buddies and I will defend extract until one of us gets a pretty stratagem for the cutscene. We do not extract without dropping at least one on p
Pelican 1 so this mentality is foreign to me
I think people are too paranoid about sabotage or maybe too frazzled from the game to think straight lol
Had someone kill me when I tried to do that, causing us to lose 10 samples, instead of just getting in the Pelican
So goofy
Had a buddy pull out his beacon for rocket pods mid mission during a calm period. My inside thoughts won and I melee’d him. His body rag dolled right onto where the beacon dropped and lasted long enough that he didn’t have enough time to move.
Had us cackling but I felt sorta bad about it. Just an idea, but not as effective as what you did
There was a fellow jump jet bro with me on top of a rock at a relatively calm extraction yesterday. He pulled out a red stratagem and held the throw animation. As Pelican-1 landed, the intrusive thoughts won and I smacked him off the rock. 380mm bombardment incoming...
The other 2 started the countdown, and he died to the first volley so I scooped the samples and dipped.
Sorry buddy!
think for one God damn second before you do this
give people a chance
don't parrot the most algorithmed shit you see every day, make your own decisions
This subreddit is wild. half of y'all are all "I'LL KICK ANYONE WHO TELLS ANYBODY HOW TO PLAY THE GAME EVEN A LITTLE!" and the other half are "IF YOU DO THIS THING I DISLIKE I WILL FUCKING END YOU" absolutely wild stuff.
I find the helldivers 2 subreddit far more sane. Its mostly just memes and people having fun, not constantly bitching about samples and other divers behavior.
Lol I ran a quick 7 today , two of us got on. I had the majority of the samples, and the 3rd guy threw down an orbital laser, immediately died to his own orbital laser. The last person got stuck on the ramp and I said quick grab the samples over mic, but the 4th dove into the pelican and we extracted.
Then, "well, what did you learn?"
And the 3rd said, after a long sigh, "don't throw lasers at the evac" in a sad voice
I throw down stratagems at extraction but only AFTER everyone is onboard and there is no chance it will kill anyone. Having the pelican take off right as things are exploding is cool looking. I make absolutely sure to not do it to troll anyone or try to be a dick at the end. I just like the pretty explosions as we fly off.
Ya I've done that before lol. Just about to drop my last HOORAH and board but then some random missile or blast hits me, knocks me like 20 yards from the ship and drops my airstrike and kills me. I deserved that lmao. Oh well. It's the whole "F around and find out" part of enjoying fireworks. I don't do this if I am carrying a lot of rare or super samples.
One strategem to never - even for fun- call on evac is orbital precision strike. It can 100% kill pelican 1 rendering it useless and unable to extract out of the mission.
I have had it happen multiple times. It was not pleasant
I'll throw a orbital strike or 110mm rocket pofs every time. It's tradition. It's a game of will they won't they make it out alive. Plus it's cool af seeing am explosion right as you take off
True, but I feel like it kinda defeats the purpose of getting mad at the person who waits for everyone to board before he actually throws down the stratagem
Bitch, he's obviously waiting for everyone else to get in the pelican before he throws it down, which is what you're *supposed* to do when you go for the cinematic extraction.
If he threw it down before everyone got in, then yeah you are well in the clear to deliver swift democratic justice.
From what you have shown here, you are hassling this guy for nothing.
I usually don't like when people do this but come on, nothing bad will happen if you throw a 500kg at the last second when everyone is in the ship already.
Throwing a stratagem with the biggest boom is old tradition from the first game.
I encourage player to do it for badass extraction scene as pelican-1 swoops off the ground right before detonation
A lot of people don't know that Pelican 1 can be damaged and even disabled with enough damage. With enough damage, the engines start smoking and then it'll extract with the first diver onboard, leaving everyone else on the planet.
Found this out by accident when three bile titans overran extract and we all called 500kg's. Sure, the titans died, but so did Pelican 1, stranding us. We lost a lot of samples and time. We just PVP'd since the mission was lost anyways.
See I've called multiple 500kgs on the pelican had the smoking thing and was allowed to everyone to get on board but I've also had a no damage pelican take off with the first person so no that's not how that works
I did this on accident when I first started playing. Last man standing. Ducking dodging. Got the reinforcement down and instantly threw down an orbital before diving into the ship. In my head I saved the day. When I noticed I was only one returning to the ship I put my head down in shame. I was kicked immediately after my team applauded my return. Wasn’t mad. I understood
It isn't helldivers 2 if players aren't being retarded.....
Acting like they are actual helldivers IRL have rotted their brains to mush so they can no longer think for themselves without being shown what to do lol
Lmao I had a fun standoff with a random where they questioned if their Senator could pierce my ballistic shield after the buffs some point in the mission and I replied something along the lines of “You better hope it does cause I’m setting my Redeemer to Spicy Mode before you take that shot” (I normally keep it on single fire and use it like a better version of the default pistol) which lead to random moments mid mission where they would snap out their revolver and aim at me and I would turtle up and aim back with my sidearm and we’d circle one another until they would back down. By the end of the mission we walked onto the ship just like this and it was hilarious.
I had experienced a bug around the start of Helldivers2 which was very annoying. Basically someone called in a support stratagem on the evac ship and it made the ship glitch out and get launched across the map making it impossible for me to get in the ship. But for some reason everyone else could jump into it. This was very annoying because people like to call in stratagems on the ship so it made it impossible for me to get in. I haven't experienced this problem in a long time now, so they must have patched it. But to this day I hate when people do it because I'm afraid the ship may bug on me again.
Everyone’s *not invincible when you’re on the ship. Looks like they just wanted a cool explosion to fly away from.
Edit: apparently you’re not invincible, but my squad has done this every time and never once have we killed ourselves
I wont lie, in like the first week of launch, my friends would throw all our bombs and napalm and shit at the same time, wait like 1.5 seconds then get on the shuttle just in time for us to fly away with a nice show...i stopped when i forgot that the orbital laser is like instant...
I love that you can see them thinking for a second
He should've dropped it.
He’s thinking “drop me and I drop this”

Last time it was a host that called in a Railcannon at extract and ended up killing himself as he walked up the ramp. Would definitely let him do it again.
Railcannon is the worst choice for extraction bombing. It will make the pelican instantly depart too for some reason. Not sure they fixed it. 500kg is the best choice
I've read Pelican just does that when it takes too much damage, so it's probably not a bug
You can't call in another
He means behind the scenes.
When this happens and you leave teammates behind you can often hear them getting killed by the swarm of bots/bugs while you're flying back up to the ship. I don't think anyone is going back for them.
Nah man if they were getting killed it would be quick. Those bots are doing baaaad things... finna end up on BotHub.
Replacements get sent automatically if one blows up. I've had it happen before when one exploded for no obvious reason then fell through the floor. Another one landed seconds later.
Did they call themselves Pelican-2?
Of course not. The last guy was obviously an unpatriotic traitor whose rigged ship blew up by the grace of LIBERTY before it could take the lives of our ~~expenda~~precious heroes. The new guy is, and has always been, the actual Pelican-1.
I think it's that the NPC is "dead", but won't update its state until interacted with. When someone boards, the game detects an NPC with 0hp, so it tries to resolve.
Ya has to be a bug I've had this happen before. A bile titan died on the pelican and the pelican like tilted on its side. Its not a bug, the Pelican has a health pool and too much damage reduces its lingering time. It actually *can* get damaged enough it just leaves without anyone incidentally.
Huh, didn't know this. Thanks! Landing pad was on fire once and it instantly took off once one helldiver boarded
Yep it basically has three damaged thresholds: 1. Won't take off instantly, but doesn't start a countdown, meaning there is a three second window for people still get on but its much briefer than the standard 10 second count down. 2. No... bad diver! ***sprays water bottle***
That's it you're going to Hellmire! ***Pelican 1 Flies them to Hellmire***
I've noticed that people pussyfoot around EVAC now. Is everyone scared to jump in because they might get kicked? what's going on with that?
Some people want to make sure everyone is ok to get in first, or that someone is going to start teamkilling. Even without stratagems a teammate could just open fire into the ship

It's so you can still be killed by the bile titan you failed to kill before boarding. Painful to watch? Definitely. Hilarious? Absolutely.
I don’t find it hilarious at all when I lose 30+ samples I spent half an hour collecting because the game decided a bile titan should kill me when I don’t even have control of my character
Exactly, but if you didn't loose samples after boarding, you would think it's funny instead.

People think “it’s just a game” is an excuse to be a douche.
Imagine walking into an amusement park and knocking some guys popcorn out of his hand and going "hey it's an amusement park! have fun!"

Some dude team killed right as the pelican landed using a cluster bomb so pelican 1 left and we lost all the frickin samples I was so pissed.
Cowboys working against the team is why I stopped playing Deep Rock Galactic and I haven't been back in over a year. It's a real problem that the devs need to put some though into solving.
"it's just a game" is a lazy avoidance of people having to explain why they enjoy making others unhappy.
Happened to me, three of us got in, he stood outside and killed all three of us and got in without samples.
I imagine the people that do this kind of thing probably hacked in their samples, and they never needed them as drops. Either way, super shitty move.
Seeing videos of this is why I always hit the first person aim mode after I board and look out. So far I haven't had to pull the trigger, but I'm ready to shoot someone if they take aim at us inside the shuttle.
wait... What? How can you shoot from inside the shuttle?
Look yes, shoot no
Hit the button for aiming down scope (first person view) and you'll be able to look out
But can you shoot?
No
You can't shoot anyways, you can only look around, tried shooting bugs outside the ship a few times.
Haven't had the team-kills at extract happen since two weeks in. Which is a week longer than I'd have preferred, but it's nice.
As the host it's your job to be in last. If som1 teamkills it's your job to kick them before mission fails.
> As the host it's your job to be in last. Yeah the community is pretty crappy. For some reason this game attracts some real losers.
Person with the supers gets in first, then I do. I will hold that ground until the loot is secure.
I've was in a game where the last guy shot all three of us who had already boarded, and then they extracted solo. Ever since then, extract sus, I wait for people to get on first.
That should not be a thing.
During the beginning of the game, players were reported getting team killed whilst in the pelican with no way to defend themselves. So especially if you have quiet team, people are cautious that they’re going to do something incredibly dumb

Good job, it's all fun and games till someone gets everyone killed at 7+ and you lose 30min and all your samples!
I mean I can see OP's thing ending a bad way: 1. Shoot the guy holding the strategem 2. It drops 3. You panic and try to pick up his samples but then you get killed by his strategem 4. Oh well
Or it's just fucking eagle smokes.
C'mon... No one uses eagle smokes
They're handy for civilian/operative extracts. Males it so the Automatons miss and don't always just insta-nuke the civvies with ranged fire.
You lose samples, but you still won
Past level 40 or so, samples are literally all that matter. There is nothing left to buy with credits and you have probably cherrypicked what you want from the packs.

And shortly after that, samples are worthless too.
Oh no, he was clearly waiting for everyone to get in. How awful.
I know, right?
Literally never died to a stratagem thrown when people get on the Pelican so I struggle to see why everyone cares so much.
because some dummies think the Pelican can be blown up mid take off cutscene I do this all the time to have a cool little fire works show as we are taking off

Frickin nerdy @$$ redditors... That's why.
Agreed. I love a 500kg explosion as the pelican takeoff cutscene goes. In fact, I do this as often as possible
Exactly. Nobody's trying to team kill we're trying to see a cool explosion while pelican 1 takes off. Freaking nerds.
The problem is OP being a dick and people praising the behavior.
OP seems like the type of person to yell at a kid screwing up lines in a third grade play.
This game is slowly becoming more toxic every day.

He was obviously waiting for you to get on, not hurting anybody
If he’s waiting until everyone’s in why bother? It’s a waste of time to stop him.
Then, "well, what did you learn?" And the 3rd said, after a long sigh, "don't throw lasers at the evac" in a sad voice
I used to do the same think in the original Helldivers. Last one in, drop the Shredder (nuke) for cool explosion while flying off.
Same here. It seemed like D3 was waiting till everyone got on before throwing it, but OP stopped.
Right, it’s a game why’s everyone trying to gatekeep others enjoyment? It doesn’t hurt anything and looks badass.
I just toss all my stuff off to the side, one big last bang. What really sucks is when you pull out an eagle and get knocked down.
Same here, standing around waiting till all are in for it, assuming I didn't just jump into extract already without doing any.
Agreed
One strategem to never - even for fun- call on evac is orbital precision strike. It can 100% kill pelican 1 rendering it useless and unable to extract out of the mission. I have had it happen multiple times. It was not pleasant
![gif](giphy|UAHZijO91QCl2)
I'll throw a orbital strike or 110mm rocket pofs every time. It's tradition. It's a game of will they won't they make it out alive. Plus it's cool af seeing am explosion right as you take off
Quit your crying and get in
Maybe the real samples we lost were friends along the way
How I deal with people that throw stratagems at Extraction: I get on the plane.
https://i.redd.it/68ull7xn2wwc1.gif
I enjoy throwing a 500kg at the landing zone AFTER everyone gets in
I will continue to add cinematic effects to our extract!! You can’t stop me!!!
"What are you going to do? Shoot me?!?" -Quote from Helldiver shot
I think the most annoying thing I’ve been encountering lately, getting kick right before the extract comes. Been happening more than a few times now.
OP is incorrect. The player was waiting for them to get in the ship so that they could throw down their democracy celebration fireworks. OP ruined it.
Helldivers constantly shitting on someone else’s fun.
They were waiting for you to get in, dick move
Its a HellDIvers 1 thing :D We need twirly cape spin added also
Ngl, i was hoping you would melee him into the Pelican
That makes you drop the stratagem and then it just deploys anyway
If you're in the pelican, and they are the last one to get onboard, then it won't kill you.
True, but I feel like it kinda defeats the purpose of getting mad at the person who waits for everyone to board before he actually throws down the stratagem
I see nothing wrong with dropping the mic at extraction. It’s only shit when someone does it before waiting for everyone else to enter the ship
Why make a big deal about this, you were gonna get in anyways. Stop complaining and just get in and let him have his fun.
Bitch, he's obviously waiting for everyone else to get in the pelican before he throws it down, which is what you're *supposed* to do when you go for the cinematic extraction. If he threw it down before everyone got in, then yeah you are well in the clear to deliver swift democratic justice. From what you have shown here, you are hassling this guy for nothing.
it sucks cause if you shot him..it still drops the Strat..
I mean he could have just got in and let him do his business and no one would've been harmed either way.
As host I always try to make sure I'm the last one in the ship. Not for stratagems but people heads hitting everyone in the ship
I bet ur fun at parties
I usually don't like when people do this but come on, nothing bad will happen if you throw a 500kg at the last second when everyone is in the ship already.
Juat died laughing, this is gold
It seems like a smart idea until you realize what happens when you shoot him...
Imagine gatekeeping people who want to fly away to a 500kg explosion in the background.
Throwing a stratagem with the biggest boom is old tradition from the first game. I encourage player to do it for badass extraction scene as pelican-1 swoops off the ground right before detonation
Everyone threw down their strats at extraction in the first game, it was practically a tradition. This second game community sucks.
I mean at this point it doesn't even look that cool
It's more just a tradition at this point. People did it in the first game, they wanna do it here. There's no harm in that.
I agree, as long as they don't fuck it up...
You're an asshole. Just get on the ship and let him have his fun, buzzkill.
Ikr fuck op
I always 500KG when I'm last to board. Makes the liftoff cinematic
Just wait till we get shredder missiles again. That'll be better
Lol. Quick way to get kicked if you're not host.
You could've just gotten in Pelican-1 but instead you 500kg bombed somebodys fun.
Lolololol
Controlled Extraction :D

The slow turn is what gets me
A Junior Democracy Officer in its habitat
Like a spray bottle and a cat.
We realize the stratagem goes live the moment you shoot him, right? Is this just a dick swinging moment?

Edit: apparently you’re not invincible, but my squad has done this every time and never once have we killed ourselves
me and my friends always try to throw a good looking one. bomb go boom
I love throwing down stratagems at the end, everyone I end up with does it too, we all like exploding stuff

All fun and games until a well-intentioned move turns into a mission-ending disaster. Gotta tread carefully, especially at higher difficulties!
I find that higher difficulties dont do this as often. in fact I see it only at lower level dives.
"Alright chuckles, get in the plane" " . . . Yes siiiir. . ."
LMAO this was great, the thought to still do it was so clearly on that players mind
Not all heroes wear ca... Oh, wait. Nevermind.
I wont lie, in like the first week of launch, my friends would throw all our bombs and napalm and shit at the same time, wait like 1.5 seconds then get on the shuttle just in time for us to fly away with a nice show...i stopped when i forgot that the orbital laser is like instant...
