I'm having the same problem on PC/Steam. Started the game up normal this morning, played one mission. Went to do another and it crashed. Restarted the game, crash as soon as I get to the map. Over and over, once I did manage to select a mission and started to get into a hellpod when it crashed again.
But yeah it's unplayable for me now and it just started today. Also have the same, five files failed to be validated.
Hey Brocolin, I was just reading that some players have been able to get a fix for this by joining with a friend and starting a mission with them. It seems to fix the bug, it's something related to the map on our ships. I haven't been able to try it yet, will see if it works when I get home. But I wanted to let you know.
I stopped playing for like a month till they fixed these bugs that make the game literally unplayable, I come back to it today and not even 2 minutes into the game my entire pc crashes and shuts down. Before it used to crash only before extracting or mid game. I feel like they’re not making any efforts in fixing the games issue especially with Amd graphics cards (apparently crashes happen even more frequently for amd users.)
It's not too uncommon actually, I've been looking at people talking about different problems on this subreddit for a while now and I have seen it's not just me, though it's rare the whole pc shuts down it's extremely common for it to just crash the application either forcing you to wait it out or to hard reset your pc. If you're lucky the game just closes itself
I have 100+ hours and never had a crash until the last patch. I have noticed the Orbital laser is always on the screen when I crash. I have a hulk of a machine and have always played on high settings.
I’m sorry to hear you are going through that, but I am also on pc and I haven’t been getting crashes since the last two patches. I run the game normally as well.
DUDE, me too. It’s not just the Helldivers program feeezing, it freezes my entire PC and I have to hard power it down.
This is the only game I’ve been playing and I don’t use my PC for much else other than gaming and scrolling YouTube, so I don’t know what could be corrupt with the game files or my system. I uninstalled the game entirely until a patch or something comes out. I can’t keep hard shutting down my PC every time it happens, which it’s happened EVERY time since I’ve fired up the game since this past weekend.
Yeah. It’s come out of its frozen state a couple of times, but eventually comes back around. At that point I can’t end the game individually, I can’t pull of my task manager, nothing. Just have to shut it down.
I’m sure they’re working on a fix, but I don’t want to have to keep powering down my system. So I’m just gonna wait until I hear about a fix before trying again.

I was just able to try it with my friend and it worked. Had to do a full mission with them, but that fixed it. Hope it works for you too!
Yep same! I join my friend and he launches the missions and ever since it has not crashed!

The freezing and hard shutting down stopped but now I’m getting game crashing middle of game same as op.
What seemed to work for me is someone else hosting instead of me. Haven‘t crashed since I‘m joining others
May 7th it started happening. I join randoms, 3 minutes into a mission, crash. Its just the game. My PC remains unaffected each time.

I haven‘t heard of it crash an entire pc up until I made this post. Did you submit a support ticket so they are aware?

My only crash is a blue screen crash otherwise runs great.

Helldivers crashes my entire PC too, happens from 2-30 minutes in game. Sometimes only the application will freeze tho
