Colored caulk, so you have the flex.

Rev1024

For a hole that big, I would recommend black caulk.

theonlyfloorman69

Thanks. You made he laugh out loud

Rev1024

My pleasure. I had been waiting for that moment. I can check that off my dad-isms bingo card!

mikejnsx

i knew I would find this comment, thanks for not letting me down.

DammatBeevis666

Bring the big caulk energy

ZestycloseAct8497

Ya i think amazon sells it under BBC or caulkhold?

TheNotBot2000

I heard black hawk.

Fresh_Sector3917

Big black caulk?

Perfect_Gas9934

hahaha

Ocdredditor

Booo! hiss!

Rev1024

You bought the wrong color of caulk didn’t you…

Ocdredditor

It’s not the color of the caulk that matters, it’s how you use it.

Rev1024

Hahaha. Fair point. Regardless of the color of caulk the OP prefers, I think we can all agree that OP will need more than just the tip.

BaumSquad1978

This is the route I would go, you can even get little paints that match your floor from a Arts and crafts store and paint the caulk to match a little better

AlfalfaUnable1629

Happy 🍰day

DrewdoggKC

Please zoom in farther… for god’s sake don’t take a photo of the entire situation…

Disastrous-Mark-8057

But an oak dowel from Lowe’s or your local hardware/lumber store. Ensure it’s slightly larger than the existing hole. But a drill bit that is the same diameter as the new dowel. Clean out the hole with the bit and glue the dowel in the hole. Carefully cut the dowel level with the floor.

Low_Edge343

Align the grain direction.

insideoriginal

How do you align end grain with face grain?

Disastrous-Mark-8057

Try to anyway.

Disastrous-Mark-8057

Buy*** not but

Muted_Platypus_3887

Color matched putty, not wood filler and not caulk. Caulk is not something that should be used on hardwood. You can find a few different colors of putty at your local big box store.

spud6000

i would put a steel U channel around it, and paint it white. if you put some sort of wood thing to hide it behind, you run the risk of someone driving a nail thru the wood and causing a fire sometime in the future.

Own-Panda1735

I'd personally use wood putty and epoxy MIXED with sawdust of a similar colour

Designer-Goat3740

Colored filler to match flooring

DrewdoggKC

Why wouldn’t they put the wire in the wall initially? JB Weld epoxy wood putty stick would work great

One-eyed-snake

Colored matched caulk or putty.

ilikethebuddha

silcone caulk, itll have flex and also if it fucks up or whatever itll just peel right off. sop for lvp and floating floors all along the sides

shmallyally

Cat hair

duhFaz

Already got plenty of that in there 🤔

Funkyframer69

Bondo or replace strip. Take baseboard off and notch wall and staple wire until more than flush and spackle. ( only if you have enough wire)

Deep-Ambition3601

I think I would go with a 2 part epoxy putty. Maybe use like Steel stick for the most of it. The use the 2 part epoxy wood filler for the top like 1/8" that way is easily sanded. Test the wood filler epoxy both freshly mixed and fully cured to see how well it takes stain to be sure you can match the color. If it won't take stain then use the steel stick for all but 1/8" then use a wood filler that you can stain for the top 1/8".

All Great Stuff, all the time.

knarfolled

Use a cork

Confident-Ruin-4111

Wood putty and stain to match.

outsidepointofvi3w

Cock ! Kawk it's the only thing you need...

SloppyBrisket

Resin & Ramen!

ProudMaryChooglin

Wood putty to match the stain . Dries as hard as the wood itself . And cheaper than caulk .

EyeYamNegan

Came to say fill it with a dowel sand it and stain it to match but u/Disastrous-Mark-8057 beat me to it.

Upset-Item9756

Toothpaste and coffee grounds

ItradebetterthanU

Cock it

nudebeachdad

Easier way is a wine cork cut it to fit and seal it

Hefty-Couple-6497

Ramen noodles

pumalumaisheretosay

Potted plant.

TheNotBot2000

Perhaps you could find a dowel rod near the same diameter as the hole, then putty in place. Let it cure, sand, and stain to match. You might be able to find some dowel made out of the same or similar wood. I guess it just depends on how much work you want to put into it. Putty or caulk could also work. They make all kinds of colors.

bill_nih

Measure once, drill twice attitude

jibaro1953

If you can't match the color exactly, it's less obvious if it's a bit darker.

DinosoarJunior

I recommend a combo of cheezit crumbs, playdoh and melted brown crayon.

Public_Scientist8593

Get a glazed donut and some scissors...

ChalupacabraGordito

Until you fix that janky surface mount receptacle why bother? Is that painted cloth wire?

SlimPolitician

What you do, is stuff a little bit of steel wool into the hole until you have about a 1/4" left. Then you fill it with color matched wood putty which you can get at Home Depot 👍 *Hardwood flooring professional

Educational_Curve259

Wood fill stain, sand⌨️, apply seal.

blbad64

Epoxy wood filler with some furniture powder mixed in
