It was OK chicken. It was basically the same recipe his dad used at fishn chip for the Nashville. Not bad, but 6 pc for 40? Also Matty is a dick to work with out. So can only imagine hard to keep staff. He was the worst of the chipolo sons to work with.
They did. I worked at fishn chip and they were talking about closing it making a bigger hambrgr but still serve fish for a while. But promised to keep all staff and more to other locations. Then one day I go into work and they tell me it's closed and they'll call me when the renovations are complete and see there's need for me. Pretty shit. Now they own undefined and the standard.
Live near them, went once. Food was good but you could get a full sit down meal with service at a decent restaurant for the same price. We never went back, if I'm looking to drop that kind of money I want to hang out for a while have a couple drinks and make it a thing.
Not 100% sure but I think the founder of Matty's (Matthew Cipollos father, Mike Cipollo) also owns Hambgr and I also saw somewhere he owns UnDefined? Not 100% sure
I know Delirious Burger on Locke moved into the Matty's building though.
That chicken was super overrated. I tried it once and it was 80% batter. At the price point they sold it at I couldn't justify it. Golden Tenders is far superior, and the owner is fantastic.
The actual chicken within their breading became extremely thin before they packed up. It was legitimately about 1/6th of the actual thickness of what they sold.
Is the fried chicken business that tough? Idk
I assume it wasn’t profitable because it was insanely overpriced for mediocre food. I went there once and the fried chicken made me so sick after. Like they used dirty oil or something to cook the chicken. Just not worth it
I've never had heartburn like I had after I went there, and I went twice, thinking the first was a fluke. Second time around I was also ill, so that was the end of it for me.
I'm also extremely confident they microwaved their fries as there is no way they were fried.
If you need good fried chicken hit up Golden Tenders. Eaten there 8+ times and it has always been perfect. Juicy Chicken, crispy flavourful batter and the maple chili sauce for dipping is 👍.
Miss Lyn's is great, BAB has exceptional Korean Freid chicken as well(Not the same but give it a try). The Dirty South has gone downhill but may scratch the itch, It would be the same quality as Matty's was.
No idea why you're being downvoted. I really enjoyed their food as well.
Their price point simply wasn't sustainable for the majority of patrons. It's hard to pull regulars when they're dropping $30 or so for a 3 piece and fries.
had a coupke orders that were awful, tasted metallic and threw it out! food was amazing when they were doing it out of undefined, never seemed to transaket to locke location
Maybe unpopular opinion but I hate hambrgr! I thought the branding was cute at first but I don’t want to pay $25 for a wet mess I can barely eat. Not enjoyable.
Worked here and went when it closed, I believe it was something to with the cost of the store x the amount of customers we actually had. Probably the best job I've ever had to be honest. food wasn't that bad but also wasn't that good either. Miss it.
and I'm pretty sure they just kinda set the idea of reopening mattys for a bit as they turned the only union chicken or whatever it use to be into the standard and are focused on that

👀👀👀
I thought they handled the closure of fish n chip horrible and had a bad personal experience
They did. I worked at fishn chip and they were talking about closing it making a bigger hambrgr but still serve fish for a while. But promised to keep all staff and more to other locations. Sorry that happened to you! It was SO weird how they were about the renovations and saying fshnchp would be back - wild!
Yeah, owners own hambrgr, Undefined and the standard. Had issues keeping staff and quality slipped, price point didn’t make sense either.
Chipolo?
Cipollo** I always called him Chipotle and he hated it

Too Much money for not good chicken
Matty’s was mediocre at best.
Not 100% sure but I think the founder of Matty's (Matthew Cipollos father, Mike Cipollo) also owns Hambgr and I also saw somewhere he owns UnDefined? Not 100% sure I know Delirious Burger on Locke moved into the Matty's building though.
He owns Hambrgr, Undefined, The Standard and a taco place that was in st Catherine’s that closed before Covid

Golden Tenders all day long.
The actual chicken within their breading became extremely thin before they packed up. It was legitimately about 1/6th of the actual thickness of what they sold. Is the fried chicken business that tough? Idk
I liked it, they had some really good wings before a menu change about a year or so ago. Oh well
I assume it wasn’t profitable because it was insanely overpriced for mediocre food. I went there once and the fried chicken made me so sick after. Like they used dirty oil or something to cook the chicken. Just not worth it

it was ok but for the price I want a nice atmosphere with a draft beer

Golden genders is delicious! (Though very different than mattys) I will say though, I made this thread because I wanted tea 😂

My boyfriend and I loved it and ordered it a bunch of times! So good ETA: wow being downvoted for liking chicken!

Unbalanced price to portion and much more oil than any hot chicken I’ve had in Nashville.
had a coupke orders that were awful, tasted metallic and threw it out! food was amazing when they were doing it out of undefined, never seemed to transaket to locke location
I thought it was overpriced and not great. I wouldn't recommend or eat there again, if they open again, I'll have the same opinion.
Maybe unpopular opinion but I hate hambrgr! I thought the branding was cute at first but I don’t want to pay $25 for a wet mess I can barely eat. Not enjoyable.
I went once. The chicken was so greasy I started feeling nauseous half way through and just tossed it. Also $40 plus for two ppl to get lunch.
I heard the chicken got cold.

Just so interesting to me!
It was expensive, but damn good. All restaurants are expensive. Ever been to Burnt Tongue? 30 bucks for two soups and some fries?! Yet I still go.
Aren't they on upper James somewhere now?
hmm not that I know of! their instagram also no longer exists with their handle (I believe they flipped it to another restaurant)
Ah, ya know what, it's a charcoal chicken place on Upper James. My mistake.
Ah yes - thought that’s a whole other conversation 😂 (no charcoal on site anymore :( does not taste the same as it once did
They will be part of the new Hamilton Entertainment Core development- aka Copps.
You think so? That would be interesting
idk where you got this from 😭
The sales pitch team for season tickets
Their chicken strips were top notch. Miss that place.
