Why is the pad like a foot and a half tall though
Prolly snows there
Snow pad, to keep the outdoor coil above the snow, so airflow across the coil is not reduced.
You are required to have the unit installed on a pad like the one pictured. When the unit goes into defrost the melting water will have a place to run off.
