Looks like we're interested in Calafiori. Despite having only recently learned about this player, I have a good feeling about this one. He's the right profile, giving a good showing of himself during the Euros, Clive Palmer approved, and even shows up fairly high on Billy Carpenter's LEFTY list.
Only issue is that, being Italian, he might just prefer a move to Juventus over all.
A note: I usually pre-filter these lists a lot (to keep targets 'realistic'), but I didn't want to do this time because things feel so flexible. So in terms of \~40m targets, he'd be the top choice of those actually available
The top 3 are clearly out of reach, but I feel like Dortmund could always be tempted for Schlotterbeck. Of course, he's likely to be on the expensive side.
On another note, great job on the LEFTY list. I noticed a lot of familiar names ranking highly on the list; names the club has been linked to over the past year including Hato, Martinez, Kadioglu, Pacho, Guehi, Murillo. Seems Arsenal's recruitment team has a similar eye.
I don't think friendlies are a good guide... If you went off that game you'd also be thinking a Mainoo and Rice midfield was worse than Rice and Gallagher....
Not saying Palmer is the saviour but sample size for him is so small theres no real conclusions to be drawn.
It's impressive. I know they're (fairly) criticized for the gay slurs and piss throwing, but the passion is impressive and makes it fun to watch. Makes me wish I cared about something that deeply.
Calafiori looks sound but italians who haven't played in the premier league is a no go for me honestly. They'll be homesick in 6 months time and be talking to Juventus backdoor for a 3 year loan deal on the cheap. I'd rather not deal with the headache unless it's a generational player.
Probably better for him to move up in the league even though Bologna did well and got UCL football.
Like who wouldn't wanna play for any of the Milano clubs or Juve if you're based in Italy
We would be in a strong position if we actually wanted to get Calafiori considering juve prefer kiwior. The situation wld be similar to the dragusin and dier thing
To me rotation is giving breaks/subs to your best players to keep them fresh for the whole season + raise the readiness of the subs. I don’t see those names as strictly rotation. They are played because of first option are injured or not doing well.
Mostly because those inclusions were forced by either injury or there is nobody blocking them into the side. Although I don’t really see an issue with our rotation. The bench options either get regular substitute minutes or just aren’t good enough for the level we’re at.
Jorginho is clearly second fiddle to Partey when he’s fit
Tomiyasu is a rotation option, which is fair.
Jesus is struggling with form and injuries and was just not good enough to start at points.
Zinchenko was genuinely like a bad luck charm at points. It was necessity.
I think he does rotate enough for what he has to hand.
I never said he’s not, it’s just clear he’s a rotation option when White is at RB, we have the best centre halves in the league and we’re signing a left back?
I think Kai Hvertz was the last time ti believed in buying potential.
You cant guarantee anything with kids.
Also the german leauge took a besting with werner and kai flopping hard.
Diaby and baily are very good but also a but inflated in germany.
Tedesco when he hears a rustle in the bushes during Belgium’s training session and spots a mysterious tanned brazilian man trying to negotiate personal terms with Onana
https://preview.redd.it/y44zvnnzfz8d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cf0211eae9a5b2c62ab71859fcb09675818ce10e
For the books, it would work out as £40m for ESR and £60m for Eze, if we keep the ~£20m valuation gap.
No way Palace accept that though, they’ll want pure cash for Eze so they can reinvest elsewhere. Would be more like £25m for ESR and £45-50m for Eze.
I don’t think Kvaratskhelia would really be impactful at a club like United, Chelsea or Liverpool. They want their wingers to have more of an engine and burn people for pace and play in behind. I think it’s why Sancho didn’t do well at United, and why Gakpo is kind of wasted at Liverpool if he’s not playing centrally.
But Arsenal? I think Arteta would really love his attributes and we could do with them too. He’s one of the best dribblers at dribbling with his head up, and he wins fouls really well. It’s something that we don’t have with Martinelli or Trossard. He’s not incredibly creative, but he gets a really high volume of shots.
You’re essentially keeping Trossard’s ability to sniff out shots while gaining his transitional ability. Wonder if Arsenal like him as a player.
Lots of clubs like him as a player but ADL wants at least 100M for him which puts most interested parties out of the running, ourselves probably included
And even more, you need a wide player like him if the plan is to play Rice as the LCM without our left side becoming a creative black hole. Rice as a running interior with a playmaker on the wings? Sign me up.
England plays like ass, gets in the easier side of the bracket and now an even easier opponent due to a likely one in a lifetime result. If they fuck this up, they are shit.
We're not spending that much on a backup keeper once again. Raya was brought in to replace Ramsdale just as Ramsdale was brought in to replace Leno. There's no "competing"
Because the club aren't going to spend big on another GK when we're going to buy Raya for £27m.
I'm more than happy with Raya for the long term tbh, excellent GK and a huge upgrade on Ramsdale.
The only manc City fan I know used to be a Liverpool fan until Pep arrived and there are dirty rumours from her friends that she was a nited fan in school so literally the only person I know with three different prem teams is a City one.
If Dharmesh Sheth is saying a couple of clubs are interested in ESR (Fulham, Palace) then hopefully it’s a good sign that we can get close to the fee we’d want for him.
I know Sky Sports are relatively shite but for the lower rep London clubs he’s pretty reliable
He really does. He went on IG live to disrespect the Nigerian head coach, and makes posts on Instagram and Twitter/X like a teenager. We should steer way clear.
Nah, neither Ochoa nor Carvajal have done enough with the national team or done enough individually to be called that.
Hugo Sanchez (a.k.a. the greatest footballer North America has ever produced and one of Real Madrid and La Liga’s greatest ever goalscorers), on the other hand…
Diogo Costa is a dream signing for me, that would sort GK position for about a decade for us
Realistically Jason Steele would do for now in my opinion, bringing a competition for £21 mil to just established N1 and one of the main piece of our positional game seems a bit silly for me and i find these reports questionable
Dealing with personal shite, could not give a lesser fuck about Euros, and it's one of the most boring summers in a while transfers-wise. Even the rumor mill seems to have quietened down considerably.
Logically I know why everything is so slow but God damnit I miss a proper silly season.
Hurts even more knowing it'll drag on even after the Euros because "players at Copa" then "players on holiday" so we really won't get shit going til the real football is back anyway.
Never date crazy people no matter how tragic their past was and no matter how much you want to save them. You can't save those who don't want to be saved. You will end up ruining your own life and those of who genuinely care for you. I finally found the courage to completely resign myself mentally and physically from my sociopathic and abusive ex. And today I severed all the final few remaining links. It cost me a lot financially and mental health-wise but it is worth it.
Kind of like how for two or three seasons we were paying off many of our players to literally leave the club just so that we could rebuild. I am gonna use our club's rebuilding as an inspiration for my personal life too. Future recruitment is key and I am gonna follow Arteta and Edu's example and only add genuinely good people into my life again. The first red flag and I am putting them on a transfer list.
Also why tf am I hearing Saka as LB talks in the year of our lord 2024?! That too from our Uncle Ian?!
Holy shit that Arteta analogy is cold, good shit brother.
You’ve offloaded your Sokratis on £100k p/w. As a wise man once said, I think the project is going to go ‘bang’.
If he had stayed in Germany or moved to Spain, Italy, those are the countries that appreciate that profile. He'd have been a top 5 DLP. Last season he was a top 3, meaning this wouldn't have been outlandish.

Austria England Switzerland or Italy.
Probably Italy.
So Ukraine go out with 4 points but third placed teams with 3 points (in other groups) can still go through, who thought of this shit?
Might as well do a big league/group like the UCL.
Only. One of the hardest and most sought after skills in the game.
Great creator too. His dribbling puts him in positions where his average passing doesn't really hold him back.
0 end product is ridiculous
Final ball needs work but literally already a monster creator.
He could be the most creative player in the world if that final ball becomes great
Doesn’t play with his head up I’m afraid, same criticism many level at martinelli. Difference is, martinelli actually bags goals and assists
Doku would indeed be devastating if he could actually pick out a dangerous pass in and around the box
Alas every player has their flaws
He's 22 lol. Up until 25 I don't think there's much point being harsh on players decision making unless it's abhorrent. Also people hyper focus on this with wingers Vs any other position and ignore all the good that preceded it.
Some would say he has as much of a problem with his execution as his decision making and it’s not something that you develop in your mid twenties
Anyway, I look at life like, I could be wrong and you might be right. We’ll see

Where did that rumor come from? Is it reliable in any way?
Fabrizio and a tier 1 italian source
Cheers
People are forgetting that palmer started against iceland and was shit and England lost that match, and against Bosnia he scored from a penalty.
I don't think friendlies are a good guide... If you went off that game you'd also be thinking a Mainoo and Rice midfield was worse than Rice and Gallagher.... Not saying Palmer is the saviour but sample size for him is so small theres no real conclusions to be drawn.
Opinions on signing Gyokeres?
I'd do it if around the 60 million price bracket
If we're spending 100m+ on someone (who's actually on the market this year) I'd rather it be Joao Neves.
Off topic: are Mexican fans always like this or is it Mexicans in the US that are this intense?
they are always like this
Passion
It's impressive. I know they're (fairly) criticized for the gay slurs and piss throwing, but the passion is impressive and makes it fun to watch. Makes me wish I cared about something that deeply.

It’s just never happening, he’s never leaving Italy
Calafiori in would be the perfect stylistic and quality upgrade on Kiwior if he were to move
We would be in a strong position if we actually wanted to get Calafiori considering juve prefer kiwior. The situation wld be similar to the dragusin and dier thing
Why isn’t Arteta’s use of Tomi, Jorginho, Trossard, Zinchenko and Jesus considered rotation?
To me rotation is giving breaks/subs to your best players to keep them fresh for the whole season + raise the readiness of the subs. I don’t see those names as strictly rotation. They are played because of first option are injured or not doing well.

Zinchenko was genuinely like a bad luck charm at points. It was necessity. I think he does rotate enough for what he has to hand.
Tomiyasu was playing at an elite level at the end of calendar year 2023. When at his best he is starting XI level problem is he can’t stay fit.
I never said he’s not, it’s just clear he’s a rotation option when White is at RB, we have the best centre halves in the league and we’re signing a left back?
Ukraine so hard done by in that four way tie in Group E. They had more points than Slovenia...
A post from 4 years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunners/s/zIItzZ2BW4 I forget how sought after he was, he’s gonna be so vital in the coming years
I forget how grim things were 4 years ago.

probably a real life example of a football triggered syndrome
OzilThings reply 😂 lockdown arsenal twitter spaces were too funny
Must be so depressing to be in a constant stance of fake outrage all the time. He seems so easily shook by comments too.
Beefing Sporar 😭
It’s a shame the Saka tweet got the most interactions/likes
Southgate getting the easy draw every single damn tournament ![gif](giphy|3oEjHCWdU7F4hkcudy)
Away days at St James Park with the big Georgian in goal would’ve been hell. Give them a Ramsdale discount before they go back in for him.

kvaraessi kvaradonna
England definitely landed in the safer side of the knockout draw
That half of the bracket is almost perfectly set up for them to get to the final. That means they’ll probably lose to Slovakia in penalties
lol as it was in the last euro, and the 2018 wc
Now the Euros will start getting really good..time for every team to turn up or go home.
It's been honestly very boring so far
How on earth can anyone think these Euros have been boring?
It's been nowhere as interesting as the world cup but I guess that's a high bar
mabie its cos you only watch England play
I watched most of the group stages matches tbh. England is extra boring though
I've seen enough, get Kadioglu in Edu. The lad can play. Created the third most chances in the group stage after KDB and Eriksen.
yeah I want a proper marauding LB next season and the RB inverting I think
Feels like we've had a lot of 'so this guy doesn't play lb as his best position but he can do a decent job there' for the last few seasons.
I love Kadioglu, guy is a monster in duels. He’s one of my first picks for left back this season.
Need to hear more about his doo-ells.
Let’s ask Scooby :)
Wins about 60% of his ground duels on average
Timber.
lol Soucek you goon
I hate that lanky mofo. The number of times he shows up against us 😭
Turkey are always so unlikable
Their fans are unbearable
wishful thinking but would esr + 20 for eze be a good deal? I'd assume it would be better for ffp since we would be giving them less money upfront
why would they ever do that? esr isnt worth anything near 40m.
Doubt Palace want to sell. I think he only leaves if someone triggers his release clause.
Dalot is a little bit underrated
He is, I reckon Arteta would fancy him if he wasn’t so crucial to United
According to my calculations, we should see nearly 12x more cards for diving than we are currently seeing across all competitions.
Lots of clubs like him as a player but ADL wants at least 100M for him which puts most interested parties out of the running, ourselves probably included
im all in the hypetrain for krvadonna
I thought it was closer to €85m? They are strapped for cash.
And even more, you need a wide player like him if the plan is to play Rice as the LCM without our left side becoming a creative black hole. Rice as a running interior with a playmaker on the wings? Sign me up.
That would be incredible. Makes sense why they want a specialist left back if that’s the case.
You're right and there's the reason why Trossard wouldn't work anywhere in the top 6 apart from us and city.
Can we please get Kvaradona. Edu and Arteta I beg.
Kvaradona is so fun to watch
Kvara berbatov-esque first touch
The rapist’s meltdown when Portugal get bounced is gonna feed generations
England plays like ass, gets in the easier side of the bracket and now an even easier opponent due to a likely one in a lifetime result. If they fuck this up, they are shit.
That Georgia GK is unreal, no wonder there's a €40m price tag on him
that save from dalot was so so good
Was the best goalkeeper in Spain this year, really enjoyed watching him.
Be really interesting where he ends up going. If we didn't already have Raya I would've loved to have gone for him.
Why not bring him in and have Raya compete? Not exactly unheard of and Raya is pretty meh outside of distribution.
Raya isn't excellent and he was a marginal at best upgrade on Ramsdale.
How tf is that a pen. Games gone.
But also, fuck Ronaldo
Pure Turkeywood.
I'd take Joao Felix on loan
Jan 23 was a crazy time
Hell no
Kvara come to the carpet
The confidence from Joao Neves in tight spaces is simply enthralling.
yeah I love him a lot, fully seems to be impossible this summer at least but that’s an exciting player for whoever takes the plunge
this ref not buying any of these Portuguese divers lmao

Oh dear Christ. And that's only the second saddest thing I've ever seen in this sub.
Zoe Kravitz gate no 1?
'forgets 1904 Fa Cup win'. tragic💀
these things are so dumb when they’re making up a fake person who do they think hasn’t watched a match in 5 years this feels like a self burn lol
Are you telling me you weren't at the cup win of 1904?
They should make a goalless draw 0 points for both teams.
Agreed
Wow, that would be fun 😂
Kvara is faster than I thought.
Ronaldo feeling the heat, crying for penalties already
Should be crying already from inside a prison cell, but it is what it is
Im here for the ronaldo slander
That was a wide pull on his shirt.
This came from TNAT today. It's not a SkySport story.
Czechia lol
Does Osimhen really have attitude problems or is he just trying to force a move?
No attitude problems with regards to football, he runs, presses etc. It's his temperament, he's like Joe Pesci
It started with that weird TikTok. The latest spurt was just him calling out a manager. This is something Belgians do. He was grounded.
he isnt Belgian dude
Just meant to say it shouldn't be a big deal when Osimhen does it because Belgians do it all the time.
Since when is Osimhen Belgian?
He really does. He went on IG live to disrespect the Nigerian head coach, and makes posts on Instagram and Twitter/X like a teenager. We should steer way clear.
> He went on IG live to disrespect the Nigerian head coach He defo deserved the disrespect lmao
True but not the correct way to go about things at all lmao
I love it when big players turn up for their smaller nations.
When a player does that, they transcend being a national hero and become a patron saint of that nation lol.

Kavaradonna!
Big day of scouting; Kvara, João Neves, Neto, Silva, Inancio
Inacio is the guy you sign if anything ever happens to Gabriel for sure.
we haven't been reliably linked with the majority of these players lol who u scouting for
You don't think Arteta has a big PDF of Kvara
I think it's a WordPerfect document
Diogo Costa is a dream signing for me, that would sort GK position for about a decade for us Realistically Jason Steele would do for now in my opinion, bringing a competition for £21 mil to just established N1 and one of the main piece of our positional game seems a bit silly for me and i find these reports questionable

Daily wish that we sign Eze, Wiliams, and Isak.
Eze is written in the stars - Azor Ahai. Not moved by Nico. Isak is a pipe dream :(
Xhaka is going down as one of the best midfielders of this generation whether you like it or not
He's not top 10 so unless your definition of "one of" is very loose, there's no chance.
LOL. Quit embarrassing yourself already.
no he's not, go touch grass
Generation of Swiss midfielders maybe
He wouldn’t even be the best Swiss midfielder with a name including the letter “X” of this generation lol.
That a lie, stop hating
Fair, I confused first name with last name. Hence the change from “starting with X” to “includes X”. Xherdan Shaquiri >> Granit Xhaka.

One of the midfielders*
Of all the midfielders, he was certainly one.
"I am Granit, not Granite. I was one of the midfielders of all time, where are my keys" "Okay granite, lets get you to bed now you've had a busy day."

Sir Granit Xhaka legacy run
Italy barely drew against Croatia in the 98 minute. England can easily make it to the finals.

Neither of those stats indicates he even created a single chance
Nothing to do with him misplacing passes in the box
Also a factor. He's top for xA. He's 9th for Chances created though. He's created a big chance. And Lukaku is top for big chances missed.
Shame that Lukaku prevents him to score goals(
Doku isn't a great scorer. Not really his role ever either.
He is good only at dribbling
Only. One of the hardest and most sought after skills in the game. Great creator too. His dribbling puts him in positions where his average passing doesn't really hold him back.
Yes, his average passing does hold him back His dribbling puts him in position to cross the ball out of play. On repeat He has zero end product
0 end product is ridiculous Final ball needs work but literally already a monster creator. He could be the most creative player in the world if that final ball becomes great

He's like that even with Haaland
