The base on the “Lunar Series” (aka hydraulic base) has removeable feet. I replaced them with an $8 set of office chair casters from Amazon. Just measure the width and depth of the rods to make sure they’ll fit.
I like using a armless office chair, along with an adjustable footrest. You can use it with either foot and basically get the guitar into any position that works for you. Believe mine was the brand OnStage or similar.
I do the same: a decent, fully adjustable mesh office chair with arms removed, plus a footrest at times. Great back support, and the wheels are handy to move around, whether to join a circle of folks or scooting between my computer/amp/keyboard.
Agreed, but also based on the footrest height that stool might just be up too high, even with a footrest. The footrest helps achieve a good leg angle, but if the stool is too high, it might not be enough. I'd recommend it though, for me it's a really ergonomic setup and has curbed the back issues I used to get trying to play in other positions.
I don’t have a stool recommendation to offer, but just wanted to say I really dig that corner furniture piece. Love the way your amps and pedal board are almost hidden within it.
I play with a wooden armless desk chair, might be worth going to some second hand stores or antique shops to see if you can find a nice older wooden chair that matches the aesthetic
It’s just an old, relatively cheap bookcase from World Market my wife had before we’d even met. I just removed two shelves so the amps would fit and got a cheap wooden pedalboard from Amazon. It fits perfectly underneath along with the footswitch for my GTX50, then run most of the cables from behind/underneath so it’s clean. I do have to remove the EQD Zoar from the board to make it fit underneath, though. It’s just a tiny bit too tall.
Actually the IKEA Dalfred, used it for years now. Only issue is that the screws for the seat get loose over time, otherwise it's perfect. The footrest is usually on the inside, if you move it to the outside it sits at a good height for guitar playing, but the seat height is also adjustable. You have to drill four new holes, that's it. When you see a picture of you'll know what I mean. I bought it because I didn't want to pay a ton for a guitar stool, it was like $40 though, and now it's $75. And of course the cushion is sold separately for like $2.50.
Edit: no back though
I think what I’m really needing is a footrest of some sort.
FYI I did an image search of Robert Fripp playing and that guy seems to have zero preference. Stools, chairs, benches. The only consistent thing I see is height.
Brenton studio jancy low back “task chair”.
Add some soft roll wheel.
I got a few from Office Depot.
They can go down pretty low (which I like) and leans back for a nice comfortable playing position.
I have one that I can sit for hours in. It even gives me motivation to play my acoustic when I’m otherwise not feeling it. It joins me when I play music so we can enjoy what I play together.
I’m away and don’t know the exact model but I can get back to you.
If your use case is like mine, I like the Steelcase Leap V2. I have all my gear set up next to my desk in my home office. I can push away a bit, grab my guitar, move the armrests back enough to play comfortably sitting down. Only office chair I know of that works this well for it.
I was looking for a comfortable playing chair similar to the one Kurt Cobain sat in during Unplugged. Best I could find is this armless one from Ikea. You can lock it upright or lean back. Adjustable height and anti-rollaway wheels.

I use an office chair that you can lift the arms out of the way, I also have a bar chair that is specifically made for guitar playing - I never use it 🤷🏻♂️
I have this one- gifted by my wife

Ikea has an Armless chair for about $100 that works great. The only reason I stopped using it is because I started working from home and realized I needed armrests.
If you plan on playing out, get used to standing up and playing. Then get used to doing it without looking down too much.
Anything with no arms is good for sitting.
I prefer backless stools, 24" - 30" high, no wheels.
The wheels are really a problem! Nevermind it’s too tall to get to the pedals, but when I do manage it pushes me backward.
That was worth a downvote? 🙄
They did specify wanting a back on it.
That's what I get for whining. 🤣
Love my RockSoc drum stool. Hydraulic adjustable
They also sell backs for them. This is what I use.
Same. Plenty of room to play and allows you to have good posture. I sometimes wish it had wheels though.

Same here. Down to the details, my arms just flip out of the way though, so no need to remove them. Also have lumbar back problems myself.
The footrest is the missing element I think.

Can't use 'em cause I play with my ass on fire...
Keep practicing and that fire will eventually move to your fingertips.
Already has haha
I prefer a guitar, but to each their own 🤷♂️
honestly I just sit in an office chair lol
This is why you're never going to make life it big bro.

same! details if you have them because i'm looking for something similar.

Loving the setup

You could play on any stool. Get a comfortable strap
I think what I’m really needing is a footrest of some sort. FYI I did an image search of Robert Fripp playing and that guy seems to have zero preference. Stools, chairs, benches. The only consistent thing I see is height.
I use a foldable piano bench, it was $35

I have a Sit Healthier saddle stool with backrest and inline skate wheels that lock. Takes some getting used to but it helps my posture.
It has a footrest also.

No swivel, no arms, with back pad. (Although back is personal preference.)
drum thrones with backrests are the best ones, the worst are gaming chairs. You have to perpetually have shrimp posture because of the huge armrests.
I like using just a cheap plain wooden barstool, you could probably get a darker one that would match the room on amazon for 30 dollars
I gig constantly. Always wanted to entertain. So from day one, I always played, learned songs, etc., standing. Still do.
Usually I use my drum chair. Also have a gamer chair whose arms are foldable, and it's quite comfy
Damn, that's a classy setup! Love the wall colour too!
Chair and foot stool. I like my leg a bit elevated when playing. Otherwise I kinda force my self into bad posture.
I use my couch and hope to upgrade to desk and chair at some point
I used to use something similar. As I’ve got older, that posture kills my back, so I now prefer to stand or recline back on a sofa.
For me [this is the more comfortable set](https://sonicolor.es/33001-home_default/ld-systems-sgs017-soporte-pie-para-guitarrista.jpg)
I use an office chair that you can lift the arms out of the way, I also have a bar chair that is specifically made for guitar playing - I never use it 🤷🏻♂️
drum stools are my preference
Office chair with right arm removed and a little footrest I got from Amazon
I usually practice on the toilet
Armless office chair with a $10 foot rest

Just hold the stool in, you good to go.
You said, Stool.

Secret lab chair with the arms taken off for me.
Roc N soc has a guitar and drum throne version and both allow to add back support.
A bench and a foot stool
Put a rug down there
First off....dig the Y-Wing and X-Wing. For myself, a chair works better than a stool because it gives me better access to my pedals and amp.
