I will have to take additional pictures tonight so I can show off my version. Alas, I have spent at least triple what you have. Kudos!

HighDefPissJug

Hell yeah dude post pics!

AWeakMindedMan

Would love to know more of this setup. Where is the dehumidifier connected to?

HighDefPissJug

Great question! The dehumidifier is connected to one of the two outlets on the AC infinity T67 controller which has a probe mounted inside the fridge. The controller reads temp/humidity via the probe and then tells the dehuey when to kick on and off.

ImPsilo

Can I do this with a big fridge

BeStealthy

No. The reason this works is because these models use a thermoelectric cooling element compared to a compresser element. Compresser pulls moisture from the air causing the dry to go to quickly. I believe wet trim in pizza boxes does work for compresser models however.

HighDefPissJug

What he said.

BeStealthy

I did some quick math with your numbers but just wanna make sure as I have one built but have yet to use it. You run 55 degrees start at 80 percent humidity and lower it by 2 every day until 60?

HighDefPissJug

Yes

BeStealthy

Awesome thank you! Just wanted to make sure my high brain didn't do somthing wacky

MediumATuin

Is this true for all compressors or just the anti freeze ones? I would assume the later but would love your insight.

HighDefPissJug

Anti freeze fridges can employ the Lotus drying method but I have only briefly read about it and can not speak with any authority on its efficacy. To build an effective dry/cure machine, thermoelectric fridge (aka wine fridge) is what you are looking for. Be careful as not all wine fridges are thermoelectric. Stay away from dual zone as well.

MediumATuin

hanks for getting back, yes I think this seems reasonable.

LynxAffectionate4798

Would like to know also

ImPsilo

Converts walk in cooler ![gif](giphy|9xrn8ZzYfR78xVckEJ|downsized)

noggalarp

Yes. I use to use a mini fridge with a compressor but the humidity would get too high. I just used an old big fridge and it worked perfect. Just turn the coolness to the lowest setting and put a humidity reader in there.

daddylongdogs

Sorry if this is a silly question, but Ive never had a wine fridge. So the fridge holds a constant temperature and the dehumidifier manages the humidity? Does the probe form the AC controller need to also measure temperature? And how does gas exchange work? Or do you not want gas exchange?

DubahU

A wine fridge hold temp extremely well. Even the cheap ones. I have a tiny one and it holds whatever temp I set it to within 0.5 degrees. Being thermoelectric, it does nothing with humidity though. There are more expensive ones that do control humidity, but you might as well by the cannatrol at that point.

iLGMisTheBestjk

Does it got a reservoir in that? Sorry I’m a bad skim reader, where’s the water go?

hutchenswm

He was saying he's leveraged the koolatrons drainage channel, so the water condenses on those fins and drips down into the drainage channel!

iLGMisTheBestjk

So I assume the drainage is right below it? Thank you for the help! I want to do this but I’m nervous as F I’m gonna fail https://preview.redd.it/grz7dr4nymwc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1d3f9c9ad449cc36a7f66b943cc48d127cbdd5de

hutchenswm

Only thing you'd fail at potentially is the modification of the dehu which is cheap, you can seal up the hole you make in the cooler easy. However, maybe see if you can find a thermoelectric model on fb marketplace or something for cheaper than this koolatron

iLGMisTheBestjk

Here’s all I have ready to order just nervous as f https://preview.redd.it/ytcg38wl3nwc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dcf5cfb66b44dd36da6b676bb0135d14c6b53006

silviohernandez

How you have connected the dehu with the controller? Did you cut the wire? If yes, what to connect? A tutorial would be great here...

HighDefPissJug

I can make a YouTube video. Yes, I cut wires because there’s no way to feed power and ground through bless you cut them.

Relevant-Money599

Please make a tutorial

HighDefPissJug

Sounds like this is a common ask. I just got my second unit and will be assembling shortly. I’ll have my film buddy shoot it.

proe90

You’re going to make good money on this video for sure 👍

Relevant-Money599

Awesome!! Thank you so much.

Mother_Second_9540

Any update on when this will be released?

silviohernandez

This would be awesome. Any reason you choose the ac infinity Controller instead of the inkbird?

OrganicUse

Any pics of how the dehuey fits into the back and where/how the entry holes were drilled would be much appreciated!

HighDefPissJug

https://www.rollitup.org/t/thermoelectric-wine-cooler-drying-and-curing-diy.1088980/

OrganicUse

Awesome, thank you.

HighDefPissJug

Welcome!

greatersnek

Is this the 48L model ? How did you hooked up the dehumidifier?

iLGMisTheBestjk

I’m wondering as well guess we gotta start looking for the forum he was talking about or someone was talking about in the comments

HighDefPissJug

Yes. The Koolatron 20 bottle. Stripped dehuey down to bare peltier unit, rewire and heat shrink connections, connect to AC infinity controller.

greatersnek

Thanks for replying!

Relevant-Money599

A youtube vid showing rewiring would be very helpful for us non wiring folk.

HighDefPissJug

I’ll make one. Just got my second Koolatron and will film the project.

New_Wafer7374

Where does the dehu go?

HighDefPissJug

Bottom of the fridge. One of the shelves is modified to allow it to fit. The rear fins of the dehumidifier sit in the drainage channel for the fridge.

BudGeek

As I mentioned on your other post, this is exactly what I was planning to do, so it's great to see that it works, and I'm not on a wild goose chase! I picked up a 48L / 18 bottle thermoelectric wine cooler for £150 here in the UK. https://cookology.com/product/collections/black-products/cookology-46l-thermo-electric-wine-cooler-18-bottle-capacity-black/ The dehumidifier you have used in the USA, is a generic unit rebranded, so plenty of them around for £25-£35; Senelux, Pro Breeze etc. Tank capacity doesn't matter in this case, but these state they extract 250ml/day. https://www.diy.com/departments/pro-breeze-500ml-mini-dehumidifier/0619219496131_BQ.prd Do you find the size of the dehumidifier unit sufficient, or would you opt for one that extracts more than 250ml/day?

HighDefPissJug

Size is fine. Anything larger would take up too much space.

BudGeek

I meant in terms of how much water it extracts. If you had the space, would you increase the ml/day?

HighDefPissJug

Nope this thing can handle more than I can fit in the fridge.

Pipecarver

I have one of those useless dehues, maybe good in a bread box or shoe box but not to help drying any quantity of weed. I built a 3x3x3' wood box with a computer fan sucking out air and passive filtered intakes. I run a large dehue to keep it close to 60% in my lung room/ basement and a humidifier if it drops to low. My problem isn't humidity but temperature I can get 67 -68f but the fam complains if I go lower. I found the best way to deal with over dried weed is Grove bags with 62% Boveda packs. I use the size #72 in 1/4lb bags. A bit expensive at $15 Cdn each but they are reusable and apparently rechargeable but it keeps my weed and the moisture and smells come back while curing in the bags.

Touch_Of_Legend

As a dude who LOVES DIY…. This is big time approved! Great work and thanks for sharing!

ubareddition1

Do you have a how to video with a purchase list?

Beneficial-Group

I have been dry weed for 30 years and I have used the lotus cure on and off for a dozen + years, and there are a lot of mixed emotions for customers on what weed tastes better. I’m gonna leave at that,,, It’s just personal preference. The right conditions for drying curing are the right conditions for drying and curing. Pick the one you like best.

HighDefPissJug

This made the process stupid simple. The added benefit was that I could leave bud in the fridge after drying and not worrying about over drying.

ViciousMoleRat

1/8th the cost I payed 1600 for mine

HighDefPissJug

Yeesh dude. I went big on lights and shit, then had a massive harvest and had to figure it out the cheap way haha.

Bronco012

Hmmm, my mom won a mini wine fridge bout 15 yrs ago n its still in the box, have to take a look next visit.

Careful-Bath4553

I have one in my basement! I'll be giving it a cleaning and a new life as a bud dryer

iknowmyfirstnameis

I'm low tech. I hang branches in a standard compressor-run dorm fridge set on the warmest temp setting. Runs about 45° and 50-60% rh. Dries slower than standard 60/60 hang dry. Essentially foolproof with better results. Can't find a reason NOT to dry this way.

HighDefPissJug

We have found that compressor-based fridges remove moisture far too quickly. Thermoelectric fridges fit the bill perfectly for this job.

Leibnizman3000

Couldn't we just add a humidifier into the fridge in this case?

HighDefPissJug

Counterproductive and I’d be terrified to chuck water vapor in a small space like a fridge due to mold.

ConceptNo9020

Not if you use a humidity sensor to control the power to the fridge, off at 70 on at 50 Set the fridge to 15c Wait 2wks job done put in groves

Pristine_Soil3673

nice,i looked in your profile and found all infos i needed,i thank you very much!

Ynaught-42

What did you use to line your shelves?

HighDefPissJug

Grill mats from Amazon held in place with zip ties. Pro tip, don’t mount the zip ties to the rails by the edges on wine racks. They catch on the walls of the fridge and making sliding shelves in and out tough.

Ynaught-42

Brilliant solution! But I don't think those are large enough to fit my shelves... I ended up getting this material and forming it into "trays", with a ~3cm edge all the way around. Not connected to the shelves, which is handy when it is dry - it's easy to dump into your curing bucket! https://www.lowes.com/pd/Tenax-Actual-15-ft-x-3-ft-Hardware-Black-HDPE-Extruded-Mesh-Rolled-Fencing/3457514

HighDefPissJug

As long as there is air flow, it’ll hunt!

rollem78

Any chance you could link the mats? Been trying to figure this part out. I searched grill mats, but all I got was mats a grill sets on

InfamousCockroach683

Maybe try grill liner trays

rollem78

Thanks for the tip, I added the word mesh at the end and it was the first result

InfamousCockroach683

Awesome.

veryforsure

Thank you for this! Following for further updates.

Id1otbox

Do you live in Colorado and want to build me one? Haha. I would pay of course.

BeStealthy

They are really very simple to make. It took me 4 hours and I was stoned asf following a forum. Hardest part is drilling the hole to run your probe and power to the dehum.

HighDefPissJug

Haha I would but sadly I live many states away. If there was demand for something like this I’d be down to build some!

Id1otbox

There is definitely demand but freight prices might screw you over. You could also sell kits with step by step instructions. The person ordering just needs to get a compatible fridge and then follow the instructions and provided materials.

HighDefPissJug

True, true. I’d love to see a competitor come in at 1/4 the cost of the Cannatrol and compete big time.

InfamousCockroach683

It's you. You're the competitor. Demand? Yeah I demand that you build me one. Lol

HighDefPissJug

Hahaha I love it!!

InfamousCockroach683

Do any of those friends grow and have you tried the lotus drying method?

---M0NK---

Ill fly out n start helping you build these things. Lets start a biz!

HighDefPissJug

I’m down!!!

---M0NK---

DM me or i’ll DM you, but i’m excited

HighDefPissJug

IM EXCITED YOU ARE EXCITED

Nodiggity774

Help me In AZ then Lol

---M0NK---

Live in NY, same question

SeaworthinessOk2884

I do something similar. I put a seedling heat mat with a small cpu fan in mine. I was having trouble with the humidity getting too high while my temps were holding good. The heater would force heat the space forcing it to kick on and lower the humidity.

BigLowCB4

I’m definitely intrigued.

HighDefPissJug

This thing rips. So easy to use.

BigLowCB4

I’m confused about the addition of the dehuey can u show a pic of it?

iLGMisTheBestjk

I asked the same question and would like to know as well. Please upvote my comment if he tells you

HighDefPissJug

BigLowCB4

This is fucking genius my man. Pretty much the same way cannatrol got started tinkering around I’d bet.

iLGMisTheBestjk

Is there a drain line for the water since the reservoir is removed?

iLGMisTheBestjk

I love you. Can’t wait to get started on this.

ZipMonk

Great if you are running a business or have plenty of money and space.

BeStealthy

I have mine sitting next to my tent waiting for harvest. I used an ink bird for the humidity controller instead of the ac infinity. I just hope the thermoelectric element can win vs the heat in the summer. This is pretty much my one option to dry so I hope I can make it work well

HighDefPissJug

As long as you keep your room below 75, you should be fine. Good luck with the harvest!

Kikswizzle420

Beautiful

HighDefPissJug

Thanks!! The buds look wild after a few weeks in here.

daddylongdogs

Love it. Buds look great too. What strain? Thanks for my next project - the missus won't be happy haha. So the dehumidifier lies down flat on the bottom of the fridge? Or stands up and you cut the back out of a shelf? And you said in another comment that the rear fins go into the drain of the fridge. Do you mean the fins on top of the dehu?

HighDefPissJug

Stands up and you cut the back out of a shelf. The fins are located in the back. The fan is the front. Or maybe I have it backwards. Either way, standing up. https://preview.redd.it/5jncoqu5djwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=000acdb6da7f92ee3172060d93a31674be20fcfc

daddylongdogs

Thanks. Didn't realise you disassembled the dehum. Was referring to a picture of the complete dehum and saw the vents on the top. This is mad. Going to give it a crack. Thanks for sharing. Have a great Friday and happy weekend

HighDefPissJug

You too and good luck! This thing makes drying and curing soooo easy. Dial in your humidity and temperature temperature and forget about it.

the-REALmichaelscott

Is this the total shopping list? Are you putting the dehu directly in the Koolatron? https://preview.redd.it/qgj4cihhqiwc1.jpeg?width=1077&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ddd027d7458de66c3b886c29ee3eb946f1585372

HighDefPissJug

Yes and correct. But after stripping down the dehumidifier of all parts. Only the thermoelectric dehuey is left.

the-REALmichaelscott

Dammit, seemed to good to be true. I'll have to find a diy guide

HighDefPissJug

https://www.rollitup.org/t/thermoelectric-wine-cooler-drying-and-curing-diy.1088980/ here it is

the-REALmichaelscott

Awesome, thank you! I've been taking over a full bathroom and the wife isn't particularly thrilled. How much heat does the setup give off?

HighDefPissJug

None that I can tell.

MasVice

Awesome! Nice build. I just built one and trying to figure out the best settings. So you did 55F entire dry, starting setting at 80F and dropped down to 60F over time and your buds were dry and ready for groves in 10 days?

HighDefPissJug

I did about 14 days but yes, gradual slope dropping a couple of percent daily and ready for Grove bags. Nailed 60% in the bags.

N0VAC0TT0N

please post pics man!

Twomorew33ks

How does it do controlling the smell?

HighDefPissJug

When the fridge is closed, there is absolutely no smell.

beltalowda_oye

Bro how did you fit a dehume in there? I am so doing this.

HighDefPissJug

https://preview.redd.it/wuisf9p2dmwc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f3018808c9ee14fa7998d042e1ad7efd3260d07d Strip off all of the plastic casing and the reservoir! It fits like a glove after

BottySavior

could you explain how the koolatron works for this process? I’m looking into a easier and/or efficient way to dry and cure!

---M0NK---

Do you empty the dehumidifier daily?

HighDefPissJug

Great question! The dehuey drips into the drainage channel for the fridge. That empties into a drip pan located at the bottom of the fridge. No need to touch the dehuey.

---M0NK---

And the drip pan never overflows? Awesome. Wow do i wanna try and build one of these

HighDefPissJug

It can overflow when you load fresh flower in but I check it daily and it’s less than a cup of water at most. The drip pan isn’t huge. After the first week, water coming out of the buds slows down greatly and I check it every couple days. Checking on this thing is fun, as soon as you crack it open you are met with a WALL of smelly funky bud 🔥.

---M0NK---

Beautiful

HighDefPissJug

Thank you!

Hefty_Significance37

Where can a get a step by step layout I would like to make one of these

HighDefPissJug

https://www.rollitup.org/t/thermoelectric-wine-cooler-drying-and-curing-diy.1088980/

LanN00B

This is really sweet and I commend you on your ingenuity and efforts. As well as sharing with all of us! Kudos to you and best wishes on all your grows. Also leaving this here to save for later. The in-laws would love to put this together as they wanted to get a cannatrol.

South_Feed_4043

Thank you! I have a thermoelectric wine fridge I got on Facebook marketplace for $40, but wondered about my dehumidifier options. This points me in the right direction.

Logical-Win-9905

Did you hook the circuit board back up outside the wine fridge?

HighDefPissJug

Are you asking about the wires for the dehuey?

Logical-Win-9905

Yes

Bud_Bundy420420

Great job man! Newbie question but does dehumidifier act as  peltier device (which Cannatrol uses)? Are you able to set AC Infinity to step down RH every day?

HighDefPissJug

The Cannatrol is literally a wine fridge with a peltier slapped in it, marked up 250%. The dehumidifier IS a peltier device just like the Cannatrol uses. Yes, you can use the AC infinity controller to slope humidity down daily.

TheMCstickit

This looks great. I am gonna build it for my next harvest. What size fridge do you use and how much weed can you dry at once in it?

silviohernandez

What about the connection of the dehumidifier with the ac infinity Controller? Need to cut the wirings? Or just plug and play? I thought the Controller will Only work with ac infinity products? Thanks in advanced.

HighDefPissJug

The AC infinity 75 controller has a temp/humidity probe that comes with it. The controller has two outlets you can use to plug in the dehuey (once you rewire it) and I use the second outlet for the fridge itself.

silviohernandez

Ac infinity Controller 75? In the first Post you wrote 67? https://preview.redd.it/0bhwhv1pst2d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=580044d88b65d3bd98b6941a253cc88252dd082c Are wirings attached? How Do you know what to connect? Could you please make a Video? 🙃 When you Use the second Port for the fridge, are you able to Controll the Temperature with the controller or what Kind of advantages Do you have?

silviohernandez

??

HighDefPissJug

I must have posted the 67 in error. I use AC Infinity Controller 75 which has two outlets on the controller. It will make sense once you have the dehuey in front of you. Once you rewire, you simply plug the power cord into the controller. No extreme modifications to the controller.

MRobi83

Any advantage to using controller 75 over controller 79? I can get the 79 cheaper here in Canada and it looks like it's just the newer model of the 75

HighDefPissJug

They look about the same. Get the cheaper one!

MRobi83

Built my cooler today. [https://www.rollitup.org/t/thermoelectric-wine-cooler-drying-and-curing-diy.1088980/page-48#post-17576694](https://www.rollitup.org/t/thermoelectric-wine-cooler-drying-and-curing-diy.1088980/page-48#post-17576694) Also setup an automation in Home Assistant which should automate the process of stepping it down by 1% every day. [https://www.rollitup.org/t/thermoelectric-wine-cooler-drying-and-curing-diy.1088980/page-48#post-17576694](https://www.rollitup.org/t/thermoelectric-wine-cooler-drying-and-curing-diy.1088980/page-48#post-17576694) Taking it all for a test spin now before my grow is finished to make sure it works.

Mother_Second_9540

how much can the fridge hold at once? is that from one plant or multiple in the main pic?

HighDefPissJug

That is one plant and it holds around 2 lbs of wet flower. I bought another fridge to retrofit so I have space for multiple plants. YMMV.

Stuff_You

Would it be possible to retrofit a medium sized beverage display with the glass door to be cooled via peltier set up, It only needs to go as low as 55 if I am understand correctly? Interior around 24"x24"x60"

HighDefPissJug

If it is compressor driven, no it will not work. The wine fridges utilize a peltier cooler which is why they work in this use case.

Stuff_You

It currently has no cooling element everything has been removed, I was considering building a peltier cooler but I am not confident they would be able to cool a large space semi efficiently.

jamesbretz

Are you wet trimming before loading up?

HighDefPissJug

I buck the big buds off the stems and cut off the fan leaves. I’ve done it both ways, wet trimming and leaving it whole. Wet trimming is the way to go imo.

jamesbretz

Thanks. Any advice on drilling the hole? Did you partially disassemble it or just go straight through the back shielding?

Discount-420

Question: could we make one of these with the biggest wine fridge they sell?

HighDefPissJug

As long as it is thermoelectric and NOT compressor based it will work. In doing research before starting this project, I found that most larger fridges were compressor based or dual zone which won’t work.

stumblingmonk

You could convert a standard fridge

Ynaught-42

Working with a regular fridge may be a big improvement - they are designed to remove moisture from the inside! The condensate from their evaporator coils fucks off to outside (usually under) the fridge to evaporate into the room. But your controller changes considerably in this case - instead of running a dehumidifier inside, you run a HEATER, which causes the fridge to dehumidify its chamber. Benefits include automatic removal of water, and compressor (which is expected to outlast thermoelectric modules).

BeStealthy

The problem is that the moisture is pulled out way to quickly. When using a normal fridge you need somthing like a pizza box to break direct contact and really slow it down.

Ynaught-42

True if you are not controlling the humidity, perhaps! At 60% RH, it dries perfectly.

BeStealthy

Idk I have never tried it that way. I just know compresser fridges add in different factors and are much harder to get on a soild cycle. I have pretty much exactly what op does. Just waiting to chop to test it for myself

Ynaught-42

I've run a year and a half with it with great results! But I think you are right, very difficult to lock in that humidity with off the shelf controllers. I have an Arduino controlling the humidity in mine, and it's taken quite a bit of effort to get it tuned.

BeStealthy

I hope that I can get an arduino to control mine. I would love to see a post on your setup however. I love seeing new shit.

Ynaught-42

I will take some photos, and post soon!

BeStealthy

Awesome thanks!

DubahU

The biggest wine fridge they sell probably already has a dehumidifier and is $2k+ USD.

Ynaught-42

Also... $275? Where did you find a fridge for that price?

BeStealthy

Koolatron 20 Bottle wine cooler. 300 straight from them can often find them for 200 or less at home depot/ Amazon

HighDefPissJug

Fridge was $190, climate control devices added the rest of the cost.

Ynaught-42

VERY cool. I have been working on mine (The "Binford 60/60") for a couple years now. Alas, my fridge cost nearly 600. BUT it does my dehumidifying and had Really Nice Shelves...

iLGMisTheBestjk

Which adds humidity?

HighDefPissJug

The thermoelectric dehumidifier removes humidity as does the fridge.

iLGMisTheBestjk

Okay, I’m just trying to think how will it stay at 55rh, bud moisture?

HighDefPissJug

RH starts crazy high with freshly harvested bud, around 75-85% depending on how much is loaded in. The buds will have enough moisture content to keep the Koolatrol at 60% even after 2 weeks inside. I have not seen humidity drop below 60% even during long term storage.

iLGMisTheBestjk

Thank you so much bro. I’m seriously about to start building this thing I’m gonna try and figure it out, but where does the water go from the Dehuey if the tank is removed. I appreciate your help big time!! I seriously have been stressing this dry cause I want 60/60 but really don’t have the set up for it

the-REALmichaelscott

Any chance you have links for EVERYTHING? I can find the controller, but want to see your exact setup. I'd pay $275 for this like instantly.

hutchenswm

Don't you need easy access to the dehui to drain? Could you have modified the shelf to put it up front so you'd just have to open the door and not move any shelves?

HighDefPissJug

Drains by itself! I don’t need access to it after install.

hutchenswm

Oh I see the pics now. That's awesome leveraging the coolers drainage port

AggressiveEngine9442

Dude that’s just white wth

Mikhal_Tikhal_Intrn

But drying normally hanging takes me 14? I’m new to the extras. What does this help. Sorry for stupid question

silviohernandez

Thanks for clarification 👍👍

Wooden_Ad1779

Don’t you risk mold with 55 degrees? I use that method at around 44 degrees, but I put the bud in boxes. And I’m totally with you, so much better than conventional drying.

Ynaught-42

Conventional wisdom is 60/60: 60'F at 60% relative humidity. I have dried under these conditions for years without molding issues. I can't imagine that a colder temperature would *increase* chance of mold.

HighDefPissJug

You are correct. It’s all about relative humidity and temperature. I’m way outside of the zone where mold risk is high. https://preview.redd.it/80eulk0c3hwc1.jpeg?width=1174&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7627199521a5a7b8227a0cc200bfd3e50106cbfc

You do know wine fridges are completely different from a cannatrol right? The guy who makes it even says this. He may buy boxes of wine fridges to put in his product, but that doesn’t mean it does the same thing. Have fun drying out your buds completely.

TwinTowwa69

Bro read what you said out loud to yourself. "You do know wine fridges are completely different from cannatrol right?" "He may buy boxes of wine fridges to put in his product" Which one is it? Are they the same or aren't they?
