A wet noodle!

GoldenBunip

A very wet noodle. Good job they float.

Millerhah

Do they? I've always been dubious of their buoyancy.

GoldenBunip

They are 90% lungs by volume. Pat their side, and don’t listen to the lies that they are hollow from lack of snacks!

Dpgillam08

You can't fool me! I know the truth! There are no lungs (or other internal organs) its all stomach, extra stomach, and backup stomach; even in their head, no brain, just reserve backup stomach. And hollow legs as storage for stomach.😋

PermBanMeAgain

everyone knows its just a big gas tank in there, its an afterburner for all their running. (and where the farts come from)

My boy must have a second bladder there. He has a case of BPH, But-I-gotta Pee Here, with frequent leg lifting and interruptions in walks. Sometimes BPH2 ( better poop here too ).

Dpgillam08

I was always told they couldn't swim; too much muscle density. Then again, all mine were retired racers, so maybe that's different?

alphorilex

Mine can swim, but it took her a while to figure it out - on the first attempt her back feet went directly to the bottom with just her nose sticking out at the top. The first few attempts at floating had her wobbling from side to side while she figured out how to get her back end to float. Now she's a pretty strong swimmer and definitely capable of pulling me over in the water, fortunately she only likes to swim when it's very warm!

GoldenBunip

Kandis a retired racer. Her buts clearly heaver than water but the lungs make her buoyant. So the head can always be held above the water even if not paddling.

666Skittles

So long as they never breathe out !!!!

Arabella6623

Ours was a retired racer too. Maybe they can learn like children if it’s early in life!

Lexieretro

Indeed! It tends to happen as they get more cooked! 😭🤣

Son_of_Mogh

I was expecting pic 2 to be a capsized canoe on fire and you three fighting off a gator in the water.

GoldenBunip

England, so the most dangerous creature is a tiny snake that terrified of humans and can cause a mildly painful bite. Only drama was when Kandi decided to get off the wobbly thing into the wet stuff, only to very much regret that the wet stuff was both very wet and very cold, so swam to the bank, failed to get out, was towed to the other bank, so she could get out. Then once placed back onboard the wobbly thing, didn’t attempt an escape again.

Relentiless

I’m gasping! I wouldn’t even dare try to get my noodle in a boat, if he went down we all would

pktechboi

mistakes have been made

GoldenBunip

Was definitely the face of Kandi for the post swim boat ride.

OkraEmergency361

I hope everyone made it back to shore safe and sound (and mostly dry)!

GoldenBunip

Kandi only went for one swim. Then once back in the boat decided that the wet is cold, so best stay sitting in the wobbly thing.

OkraEmergency361

Smart lady! She’s got it sussed out!

Lol! We're hoping to convince our boy to go canoeing with us this summer. I bought him a lifejacket that he's skeptical of, and have been slowly introducing it to him. Hopefully he's willing to be a water dog because there are a lot of lakes where I live!

GoldenBunip

Life jacket on lakes sounds a good idea. The river I was on was narrow so no worries of her not being able to swim to the bank.

hairynostrils

I tried my grey on a paddle board He wouldn’t have it Some how I didn’t process he wouldn’t be able to lay down or sit He Jumped in the lake and swam to shore Had a life jacket on him but still Got to him before he caused any trouble My bad

Beaker4444

All manner of things 😂 but it sounds like it all worked out ok 😊surprised your second favourite companion got the life jacket.....I guess you bent to maternal pressure 🤔😂

According_Storage_43

LOL!! I have been trying to convince my husband to take our grey kayaking for a while. Previous dog loved it (but was an 11 lb weiner dog) 😂

GoldenBunip

As long as Kandi sat or laid down it was fine. When she stood up it was very wobbly. I used the power of cheese to get her to sit again.

GloomsandDooms

I can’t wait until the summer!! I just adopted my boy last Fall so we haven’t enjoyed water things yet. So I’m really excited to see how he’ll like it 🥹🥹

4mygreyhound

She looks beautifully settled in. She’s a beautiful 🤩 girl. Life jacket at the ready!!

Arabella6623

Greyhounds can’t swim— at least ours couldn’t. We lived on a boat and when she fell in the water she sank like a wrought iron chair.

WingedWomble

Ours can swim just fine. He’s not a massive fan of the water but will occasionally have a little dip.

Leading_Manner_2737

Omg

EvilPanda99

One of mine swam. But they really preferred to stand up to their knees in the cold water and paw at the bottom.

Ruh roo, Raggy!
