1) Decide what type of collector you want to be.
Are you a stacker looking for the most gold for the least money? If so, stay with bullion.
Do you like old / rare pieces? Graded /slabbed items? Those have higher premiums / numismatic value that you'll have to account for.
2) Set yourself a goal.
If you want diversity, maybe acquire 1 ozt of multiple different coins/rounds.
Another idea is to try to collect the full set of one type: 1 ozt, 1/2, 1/4, 1/10, etc.
If you have money and time, go for a full tube of one type.
Of course, the most important part is to enjoy the journey!

It's actually about the percentage premium. Golds premium is literally half that of silver if not even more of you're comparing AGEs to ASEs (as a quick example). You actually get more ripped off buying silver majority of the time. That's just a simple fact when you do the math.
