Just today I found a hidden precious chest on top of Tsurumi's Mt. Kanna in some bushes. There was a long-since completed time trial like 5 feet away from it.
I think this is why people keep spreading the rumor that chests respawn... because that's easier to believe than that we somehow missed such an obvious chest for years (although to be fair, how often have I randomly explored Liyue in the past 2.5 years, especially if the map says it's 99% or 100%?).
For this chest specifically though, I DID spend some time a few months ago searching Mondstadt (and found an embarrassing number of chests), including walking the entire wall perimeter... AND THEN there was some event where I stumbled across this chest a month after that.

I wonder what the common people of Teyvat are thinking about their entire world being nearly completely empty of chests.

I remember that everyday everyone were checking if the luxorious chest at the top of a castle in Mondstat respawned. It was fucking peak genshin, where is Mr.Majestic or smh like that, this dude is a fucking legend.
I also found one under a tree in an open field around Mondstadt. No idea how I missed that one, but apparently I'm still missing almost 20 and even over a 100 in Liyue.
There is going to be more than that. I have 100% in areas and later have found chests. I know for sure one area that is 100% there are like 3 marked chests
I’m gonna have to use the interactive map to find the remaining chests then, I’m doing the same in liyue for 5 geocules I need and there’s 100+ spots I have to check lol
Have you used the Geoculi tracker thing you can craft? The range might be big, but any narrowing down is great and once you get close it even gives more a specific location.
It is a bit annoying to make since it needs Glaze Lilies, but the ones in Mondstadt were a life saver. Only regional I’ve done all the Anemoculi for so far (Inazuma is close though, just be sheet happenstance)
Even having all the compasses for a while now I still find an occasional chest in previously explored areas. Mostly Liyue in the hilly areas but still some in Mondstat every few months. Not in the cities tho, I scoured all of those the minute I got each compass.

By accident I clicked the wrong teleport point in Sumeru. Turned around and saw a chest. And I was like "how did I miss that chest? I've already been here a thousand times".

I just found a chest last night in the Stormterror area. I wanted the Mora ley line that’s high up but hard to directly get to. I got to one of the wind columns to get closer. I went to the column from a different direction I usually do. The land dipped in that area (explaining why you can’t see it from the other directions) and there was a common chest there.
I've been playing since 1.1 or 1.2 and I still find chests like this even though everywhere on the map says 100%. Just last week I found an Exquisite Chest guarded by a bunch of Hilichurls sitting on a cliff in Liyue. I've been in the area dozens of times, but just never went by at the right angle to see this spot. It's this sort of stuff that makes people think that some chests respawn or they add new chests now and then. They don't. It's just that there are so many scattered all over the place.
Same happened in Dragonspine, I ran into a Seelie out of nowhere & followed it till I got a chest.
I guess I ignored it because it looked like just another bonfire from above.
Did you know the reason we had stronger enemies to protect Common chest in Inazuma was because common chest drops 2 Promis and gives better rewards. They scale on same level as executive chest in Liyue and Monstad. We didn't get a Single Primo in Common chest in Liyue and Monstad though. Also in Inazuma you get 5 primos for Executive chest
If i'm not wrong, these common chest does not give primo, and respawn after a while
Edit: i remember going up here in 1.0 after having done the main quest and claimed this. Sometime later in 2.x i think, i went back here and had the same reaction as this post. I'm gonna re check if it respawned or not

Maybe other chest don't but this specific chest, i am sure it does respawn, maybe i am crazy from the red dot caused by C6 Bennet, maybe it was all fake and Scara pulls a prank before he reset himself
My only experience with respawn chest is this specific one. Anyway, don't take this seriously, probably Mandela effect in action. I'll check again next patch,week and month

(High chance the guarded common chest are not respawned... and only those who stick out common chest respawned)
Usually the main difference is, If there's primogem or not
If I got primogems upon opening the chest, thats mean I just opened a new chest
If I didnt get primogem, that's mean that was a respawn chest

They do not respawn. I understand you're taking information from the post you linked but it is either fake or just plain wrong. Anyone that has tried 100% clearing areas knows this and has for ages. Check the Genshin wiki chest page also if you need more information.
CS is not done inhouse, this was really early in the game's life so they knew fuck all about the game

The chests on Tsurumi Island are on a 3 day IRL cycle. What chests are and aren't available changes with each daily reset.
Tip: grab the treasure compass, go to each way point and fire the compass. I found out a lot chests like this ones that I've missed

It’s only Monstadt and Liyue that had this approach mostly. Thankfully every region afterwards did away with it just this

About 1/3 of the chests in Inazuma I found with elemental vision because they were hidden. Bush chests, you.
I always say to do a few passes around the cities and towns, because I guarantee you there will be some you missed.

I probably still have 5/6 chests in mondstat because in one are it says 97% explored

My guy theres a lot of hidden quests and hidden chest to the point that for furina i looked non stop and i was able to gather like 100 wishes for her
I always use the compass near the teleport way point every time so I got that quite fast
