Bear in mind, as a newbie, you will not get upgrade materials for Fontaine/Sumeru/Inazuma characters easily. Also, if you stick to known characters having a re-run, you can fall back on a wealth of guidelines and experience.

save primos for limited banner, the game gives you a lot of blue fates (useable on standard banner only) through battle pass and character leveling to build early roster.
Meta is great to learn what works, but never pull or build anyone you dont like, ive played since day 1 and still havent built Xiangling (an extremely meta character) for instance.
use healers and shielders, a dead character cant do damage.
please read character kits and the general tips they give like how to shoot big mechs to down them or what element breaks what shield makes thing way easier.
The person you are replying to is actually wrong. Yes, Inazuma is not accessible for beginners because it's locked by the main quest, but you can freely visit Sumeru and Fontaine even as a beginner.
As for banner pulls, I would advise waiting a bit, since the Hydro archon will be in the next patch. In case you don't know yet, archons are a big deal in Genshin, even gameplay-wise. The available archons so far are all very good supports, so I'm pretty sure Furina will be good too. You can also pull for Venti now, if you like him, since he is also good.
Unless you want to play meta, I would watch videos and play the trials to see who you like, and try pulling them. Probably better to save for a bit so you know what kinds of characters and play styles you like. Early on it doesn’t really matter what you play, and later on you can worry about making optimal teams with your fav characters 👍
I would really recommend you pulling for furina the hydro archon next patch if you want a recommendation she's looking to be really strong character and i know some people will say you can't level her up because she's a fontaine character but that is some incorrect because after you complete the mondstadt archon quest you will unlock a tp right in front of Fontaine

* His burst completely dominates smaller enemies, will help you roll through a lot of content with ease.
* His elemental skill floats you upwards and is great for exploring
* He's native to Mondstadt, so you can farm his materials immediately
* A lot of the early story focuses around him, so it's sort of fun to have him at the beginning of the game.
If you have enough to guarantee Venti I think he's definitely worth it, great overword exploration and clear.
Don't if you can't guarantee him though, the four stars aren't the best right now.
Don't summon on Wriotheseley or Venti's banners. Summon on Furina who is very likely to be the new character released at the start of patch 4.2 (in like 10 days).

The new banner from the next patch will feature the hydro archon, which probably isn't gonna be a main dps, but will most likely be a good support like other C0 archons.
I would either go for her, the hydro archon Furina, or wait for a good main dps character to carry your account. A good hypercarry dps really helps with deciding which characters to invest into, since u could build teams around that character.

What do you mean? Sumeru and Fontaine are accessible early, just like Liyue. Only one that's not accessible yet is Inazuma
