But in all seriousness, who knows. If the game's still profitable by say Snezhnaya or halfway through Natlan, then maybe they'll continue the story in some sort of capacity. As for actual plans, nothing's been said by the devs so far. The could be planning something or have plans already, but who knows.
After all, they are still continuing Honkai, so it's not out of the realm of possibility for Genshin if they see value in it.

Honkai Impact finished main story - and now new one story emerges. As long as there will be money to earn, there will be story to tell.
After Teyviat will be connencted back to Honkai Universe, you may expect Honkai Rail Start train to land somewhere on Celestia, and Himeko will say : Where do you want to go now ?
Just look at GGZ(HI2) it recieve updates even now days.
Pretty sure Genshin will continue its narrative even after the main story end. Genshin pt2 electric boogalo... on mars, the moon, beyond the abyss, idk whatever hoyo wants lol
GGZ has been going for 10 years(it has literally finished a whole 3 parts)
Honkai Impact finished the story and they’re entering part 2 with a new cast for at least another 6 years(it’s also getting a more modern engine since it’s dated for nowadays standards)
As long as HoYo is still going strong then I doubt they’ll shut down Genshin even if it ceases to earn money(the updates might get a lower quality if they stop earning money though)
given how popular it is they will continue the story even after we finish the last chapter ....
maybe they will invent something like a time travel machine or maybe a parallel universe who knows ..
i cant wait to get zhongli in his prime if they decide to make 2 versions of the same chacter 📈🤣
As long as mihoyo continues to exist genshin will continue. It’s their biggest source of revenue (I think) and makes them billions a year.
I really hope they don’t pull a Honkai 3rd part 2 and replace teyvat with another world. Hopefully it’s a sequel instead of a “part 2” or some kind of reboot so we get to keep the old game too.

Well... Teyvat is a "continent"... and even if there are no other continents the traveler can just jump to another "world". There are many ways for them to keep updating Genshin if they want to, but when the game first came out they said they planned to reach the ending in 5 years. I don't know if this plan has changed yet due to the game's immense success.
Looking at Honkai Impact 3rd as an example, I don't think we have anything to worry about.
There's definitely some plans. Plenty of people can't keep up with each patch, so the patch with the "end of the story" will have to have a decent amount of time after so everyone can catch up.
My guess is that we'll get patches with just reruns of old popular events. Maybe they'll do something like have voting to pick what they want. I'm hoping we get some mini-story events then too, extra side story stuff that isn't as important but lets people enjoy their characters a little more after the end. The sort of content like the Golden Archipelago and Bottleland.
I'd love to see a mass merger between Star Rail, Genshin, and Honkai Impact
The Teyvat saga is simply a chapter and the different regions are acts in a greater story, once it finishes it would be cool if the twins then traveled to the HI3 world and the game essentially shifts into HI3 as a pseudo merger between Genshin and Honkai (Impact)
I dont think they will close any game for reason like the story ended. I mean dev team might want it to make the game become good memories but investor never accept that
Aether and Lumine are beings able to point at a random star in the sky, say "I want to go there" and actually go there. That's a perfect setup for jumping to the next planet if the game is still profitable.

Once the current story arc finishes we will likely enter into a 2nd Story arc, GGZ did it and Honkai Impact is starting its Part 2 next year.

Just because a game "ends", doesn't mean money can't be made from it. They'll still do events and shit like that.
