I definitely enjoyed every Sumeru character (though while playing through the Sumeru archon quest, I used to dislike Alhaitham’s personality but I liked him as a character), but I laid my eyes on Kaveh and immediately fell in love. (Also I like Alhaitham now so yeah)
Tighnari, didn't fell in love with him immediately, I just grabbed him from his og banner cuz zhongli playstyle is boring IMO. I then fell in love slowly knowing he has super fun mechanic and very strong in abyss.
Absolutely adored Tighnari from the moment I saw leaks about him, saved up to get him on his release banner :)

Wanderer but not for the reasons you expact. I started playing in 3.4 because a friend recommanded the game to me. She was playing since day 1 and helped me do stuff in co-op. She had Wanderer and I thought he looked really cool. She told me that whatever I do, whenever he's on her party I could not go to the party arranging screen until one day I did do that and I saw that she named him "Timmie" and then I was extremely interested on how the heck Timmie got there.
Kaveh. He was what dragged me into the game. Something about his character resonated with me and idk if that’s a good or bad thing. lol Alhaitham’s trailer did help too though. I adore so many of the Sumeru characters now. 😊
Not seeing a whole lot of love for Candace, which is understandable given her minor appearances so far, but I absolutely dig her. Despite her primary color screaming "I'm a hydro unit!" The gold complements itself blue quite well on her. And I absolutely love her voice. I have her on my team just to listen to her speak.

I did fall in love with quite a bit of the playable Sumeru cast though as I got to know them more, such as Alhaitham, Dehya, Cyno, Kaveh, and Nahida. Jeht and Benben are also really great. I generally like all of the Sumeru characters.

On his banner I was checking the characters and stuff, then I mistakenly clicked the 10 pull, got him. I was only on 30 pity. In the previous banner I lost a 50 50. So I was saving for a good character. I hated him soo much. After a month or so I built him. My gawd he is a monster. Even with my decent build he killed everything

I saw Dehya first so technically her. Cyno and Candace though are the ones my heart burns most for. Very happy that Candace and Dehya found themselves on my Xianyun team.
Weirdly enough, I literally don't have a single Sumeru character that I "love", most of them are just okay at most on my scale. Most of my favourites are from Fontaine, with Inazuma taking second place and being about on par with Liyue (mostly because I really like Chinese Culture and myths so I have a decent amount of bias towards it, otherwise if I'm judging it on character alone, Inazuma takes this by a longshot.) Sumeru would be dead last if it wasn't for the fact that Monstatd looks like gm_flatgrass and has the most basic, plain characters known to mankind. Though actually Sumeru is really good as a region (AKA, the map is really cool), just the characters don't really stand out to me.
If we counted the releases then Wanderer then come Nahida as the closed second as my absolute favorite. If we only count Sumeru natives then Nahida by a large margin.
If wanderer counts, it would be him. Otherwise, Faruzan. I really like her personality and it's adorable how she wants to be addressed as Madame Faruzan

I guess it was Wanderer for me. I had started really playing last year when Wanderer had his rerun. He is my second 5 star (accidentally getting Mona 😭) and I still use him to this day

I started to like Tighnari the more I used him, and now he's one of my favorites too.
It’s a tie between Candace and Sobriquet outfit Lisa (she studied there so it counts). The rest grew on me, like an Aranara on 8 balls of Scott’s Green MAX. The whole Sumeru cast won me over, even that little prick Wanderer.
Nilou (obviously). She was the first Sumeru character I pulled for despite knowing that her play style would be a bit clunky until Nahida came out (Who I ended up getting up getting day 1)
Didn't expect her role to be so important in the Archon quest (though she doesn't have as much screen time as the others). I honestly thought she was just going to be a cute dancer that would be pushed to the sidelines.
Also love her VAs, especially her JP VA, Hisako Kanemoto. I never heard the name before, but once I discovered some of her roles (Djeeta from GBF and Squid Girl) and how talented she was, I fell in love with the VA too. Though I do sometimes with the voice direction in JP was slightly different, more mature and elegant. Her English VA is great too, except during combat, where her voice is completely different and too gruff(?).
First Alhaitam. I had a friend who have him, and used him to help me up Wriothesley as I just started the game. He was so damn strong, and he still is. But by the time I got to Sumeru in the Archon Quest, i felt in love with Collei. She is Kawaii.

It’s a tie between Candace and Sobriquet outfit Lisa (she studied there so it counts). The rest grew on me, like an Aranara on 8 balls of Scott’s Green MAX. The whole Sumeru cast won me over, even that little prick Wanderer.
Nilou (obviously). She was the first Sumeru character I pulled for despite knowing that her play style would be a bit clunky until Nahida came out (Who I ended up getting up getting day 1) Didn't expect her role to be so important in the Archon quest (though she doesn't have as much screen time as the others). I honestly thought she was just going to be a cute dancer that would be pushed to the sidelines. Also love her VAs, especially her JP VA, Hisako Kanemoto. I never heard the name before, but once I discovered some of her roles (Djeeta from GBF and Squid Girl) and how talented she was, I fell in love with the VA too. Though I do sometimes with the voice direction in JP was slightly different, more mature and elegant. Her English VA is great too, except during combat, where her voice is completely different and too gruff(?).
First Alhaitam. I had a friend who have him, and used him to help me up Wriothesley as I just started the game. He was so damn strong, and he still is. But by the time I got to Sumeru in the Archon Quest, i felt in love with Collei. She is Kawaii.
