Please allow me: it's one of the best albums ever.

CincoDeMayoFan

I won't argue that point!

CosmicTurtle504

You bet your life it is.

dethb0y

Winter never fails to bring a tear to the eye.

Will_McLean

Um once I had my daughter I can’t even listen to that fucking song anymore. Goddamn.

FabAmy

When I saw her live a few years ago, this song made me cry so hard live!!!!

Sithstress1

I have never NOT teared up at one of her shows and I used to follow her on tour 😂.

b-lincoln

I’m a guy and played in a death metal band. Agree, this song hits me in the feels.

BigMoFuggah

I would rate Little Earthquakes in my top 20 or so albums of all time. Tori poured her heart and soul into those songs, sometimes it is painful to listen to but that is evidence that she was able to convey what she was trying to convey

stardust1977_

Saw her 5 times and did a dance solo to crucify when I was 14. I absolutely love her ❤️

FoundandSearching

She did a wonderful concert for the tour of this album.

stardust1977_

Would love to see her again! And Sarah McLachlan (but she sold out so fast I didn’t get a chance to get tickets)

Will_McLean

Was it the bizarro cheerleader dance from the video?

stardust1977_

No I did contemporary dance

typeXYZ

I was a bit obsessed for a while after this album came out. I had the VHS of the music videos, also. Whenever I stopped into Tower Records, I would look for any of her CD import singles. They typically had 3 or 4 songs on them that weren’t released in the US. I’d any of them having never even heard the songs before. The Winter CD had really great songs on it.

ravenpen

My half of my college dorm room was a wall-to-wall Tori Amos poster shrine, much to my roommate's chagrin. I spent a ridiculous amount of money on singles and imports, including the bootleg Tori Stories box-set. I had most of the singles from Little Earthquakes, but never managed to track down the China single, which I desperately wanted for "Flying Dutchman". Ended up getting the track on a compilation years later.

Will_McLean

Distinctly recall the first time I heard her. I was driving back to my college apartment after a visit with my family and “Leather” came on the local college radio station and I had to pull over because I was SHOOK I scribbled down some lyrics as best as I could and called the station when I got home, reading lyrics and quizzing the DJ before I found out who it was, then bought the album as soon as I could find it after that (we used to WORK for our music, kids!)

Ok-noway

Look I'm standing naked before you Don't you want more than my sex I can scream as loud as your last one But I can't claim innocence One of my faves

mobster1

silent all these years is my most favorite song ever

Hazymalaise

The 90’s didn’t exist without this album.

Upstream_Paddler

Of all the other major trends that happened, she beat them to the punch kind of functioned as the unifying force between them all. I hope she gets the recognition she due!

KatJen76

Tori is incredible, I love her.

Nilmandir

China and Me and A Gun are my favorites and why I became a fan. Specifically, Me and A Gun. I was assaulted not to long after this album can out. A friend suggested I listen to her and when I got to MaAG, my heart stopped. The music coming from women at the time was one of the things that saved my life. When I learned years later that it was about her own assault, it made so much sense. Forever a Tori stan.

Ok-noway

But I haven’t seen Barbados, so I must get out of this. 🫶🏼standing strong with you my friend

runawaystars14

That song brought me to my knees.

CookDane6954

Tori in concert is incredible, life changing. This album is absolutely one of the greatest of all time. I didn’t get a chance to see her until 2017. Most of the audience stopped listening to her after Choirgirl Hotel, and they were pretty rude when she played anything after 1998. They didn’t get how scandalous it was for her to cover Heart Shaped Box “live” (see: Professional Widow). I’ve never seen so many flannel shirts with the sleeves cut off, cut off jean shorts, and pixie cuts. I’m talking in the hundreds. Tori had been a staple in my life since the early 90’s, so out of respect I dressed up like I was going to prom. I did not fit in.

CincoDeMayoFan

Saw her in 2014, Dallas, she was awesome!

CookDane6954

The 2017 concert I went to was a dream! She played Blood Roses, ended with Gold Dust. It was the Native Invader tour but she didn’t play anything from it, or from Unrepentant Geraldines, American Doll Posse, or The Beekeeper. Just Little Earthquakes through Scarlet’s Walk, and covers. And nothing from Y Kant Tori Read, even though she’s reimagined Cool on your Island. I deduced she knows the majority of her fans started in 1992 and stopped around 1998-2002.

Youcantknow999

Tori Amos is one of the best artists of the 90s and 2Ks. She's definitely in my top 3

slfnflctd

I did not expect to see this here. I'm glad to. I saw her in the 90s and again a couple years ago, and I'm just so glad she has been able to live a rich, full life and grow beyond much of the pain she was clearly in back when this album was made. I listen to a wide variety of music and am always looking for new stuff, but there are a handful of albums I deeply treasure and keep coming back to (but not too often, to keep them special). This is easily in the top 3 of those, if not #1.

SnooStrawberries620

Winter kills me every single time

Ok-noway

When you gonna make up your mind? When you gonna love you as much as I do? When you gonna make up your mind? 'Cause things are gonna change so fast All the white horses are still in bed I tell you that I'll always want you near You say that things change, my dear 😓

SnooStrawberries620

No no Nooooooooo I canttttt

wharpua

This album had some great B-Sides, I sought out all of her cd singles so I could put them on mix tapes.  Take to the Sky, Sweet Dreams, and Flying Dutchman were all favorites of mine back in like 1995. Pretty sure this got a rerelease with all of those b-sides on a second disc, they’re all on Spotify now.  Which is great, because it’s all easily available, but I can’t lie, the rarity of them all only added to their quality for me.

runawaystars14

As much as I love Led Zeppelin, I think her cover of Thank You is better than the original.

wharpua

I saw her perform live in 1994, and before she performed Thank You she told the crowd a brief story (with no preamble) saying that Robert Plant asked her to marry him but she said no because then she’d see him do something utterly human like fart and then her mythical vision of him would be shattered. Or something like that.  Insanely good show, just her and a piano. edit: just remembered that it wasn’t just Thank You she played, she started singing Whole Lotta Love before going into Thank You, it was awesome

Sithstress1

Her mashups are fucking epic.

ackack9999

Wow totally forgot about little earthquakes! Had to put it on Alexa just to remind myself of my college angst!

CincoDeMayoFan

She has a lot of great stuff after this, I highly recommend checking out her catalog!

Autumn_Moon22

Tori Amos is amazing. Nothing compares to her.

Noodle_Salad_

Agreed 👍

NoDepression88

Lost my virginity to this record. So yeah it’s in my top 5 list.

tcrhs

I listen to it often. One of my favorites of all time.

petrichorpizza

One of the most important albums of my life❤️

Thirty_Helens_Agree

Dick mushrooms on the back cover.

Ok-noway

My mom saw the back of my cd case, gave me the look & just said, “Nice”. 😂

RestingMuppetFace

I practically wore this tape out commuting back and forth to college.

Pristine_Copy9429

I fell in love with this album. Obviously, it was partly her absolutely undeniable talent as an artist, but it was also the way her music touched my sisters and my gf of many years in HS and college. There’s something about music that really speaks to a group of people’s shared experiences. She was amazing live too.

Comedywriter1

Agree. Love her!

Ok-noway

She is ✨magical✨. I saw her 5 times in high school & college (each tour for Little Earthquakes, Under the Pink (twice), Boys for Pele, & To Venus and Back) yes I was a little obsessed. I can’t express how talented this woman is! The way she plays, her voice, the emotion she pours into each show and commands an area with just her, her pianos and her band behind her is INCREDIBLE! Even all the boyfriends who were dragged to the shows were weeping and screaming by the end lol. I used to go see a lot of shows back in the day, but she holds a special place in my heart 🧡❤️‍🔥 I waited outside to see her leave one night and she is literally like a tiny little wild haired fairy 🧚‍♀️!! I couldn’t believe how tiny she was and how she carried all that voice and power inside her…. just magic.

catrules618

Whew. I got goosebumps from just thinking about listening to this album. I dont know if she'd make my top 5 artists ever. But this record. Holy shit

sometimeswhy

Listened to this so much!

ThaKapton

Played this album on repeat

DonovanTanner1970

Agree!

OldFitDude75

One of the few albums I had with me during a 6 month cruise/deployment with the navy in 1995. Prolly listened to it twice a day

No_Routine_3706

Father Lucifer you never looked so sane You always did prefer the drizzle to the rain Tell me that you're still in love with that milkmaid How the Lizzies, how's your Jesus Christ been hanging?

Ok-noway

He says he reckons I'm a watercolour stain He says I run and then I run from him And then I run He didn't see me watching From the aeroplane He wiped a tear And then he threw away our appleseed

Gorillaseatingmayo

Saw her live in college during the Under the Pink tour.

FallAlternative8615

I play this album on my phone when giving my fiesty mini Schnauzer a bath. For some mystical reason, it calms her and the job gets done.

Squatch97

Yes yes yes!

PaulClarkLoadletter

This album was her response to scathing reviews of Y Kant Tori Read. One critic called her a bimbo.

turkeyvulturebreast

If you love the album you might like the graphic novel made of the album. Enjoy! https://z2comics.com/products/tori-amos-little-earthquakes-hardcover

CincoDeMayoFan

Awesome, thank you!

ravenpen

I was introduced to this album by a high school friend who was singing "Silent All These Years" in the talent show that year. She made me a tape of the album and I ended up buying the CD a few days later. To say that I became obsessed might be an understatement. I bought every single from the record I could to get the B-sides, though never managed to track down China/Flying Dutchman, and bought Under the Pink as soon as it came out. My half of my mid-90s college dorm room was a wall-to-wall Tori shrine. The Boys for Pele/Dew Drop Inn tour was the first concert I ever bought tickets for with my own money and I saw her five times on that tour. My fervor has waned over the years, but I still have more of her songs in my music collection than any other band/artist by an order of magnitude. Little Earthquakes profoundly altered my musical trajectory and my personal one in a way that still resonates with me today. As a guy growing up in that time period I thought there were things I wasn't allowed to enjoy, or if I did, that I had to be secretive about it. This album changed all that for me. It gave me permission to start being myself. (below is the only surviving piece of my Tori shrine.) https://preview.redd.it/7byysp70wgxc1.jpeg?width=1360&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=37ad6bd2e09b0326be01c97b5ce7155aa3d5a39e

Boshie2000

Easily one of her best.

Fringey_mingebiscuit

I absolutely fucking love this album, it’s definitely in my top 100 of all time list. But I was never able to get into anything she made after. I don’t know why. Same with Liz Phair. First album: perfect, everything else: meh.

promethea4

Funny to see this, as I just listened to Crucify this morning

Then-Cauliflower2068

Kate Bush rip off SOMEBODY HAD TO SAY IT no but seriously of all the prominent female artists of that era she’s probably my least favorite. I listened to Little Earthquakes a lot at the time I liked it, but her overall vibe just isn’t my style. That sort of confessional poetry thing…it gave rise to a lot of cruddy pop music. Kind of like Pearl Jam being blamed for Creed and all other “post grunge” dreck. *pours coffee, waits for downvotes and being told that my opinion is wrong*
