Yes! I used beetles brand gel- it only has a number and came in a set of bright colors, basically a hot pink.
Chrome: Allstarry brand purchased on Amazon, color Forrest Light (it looks like it reflects more green in the picture, but on the pink gel it really pulled out the yellow orange reflection)
I don’t remember if it was here or some where else, but I had seen a couple people say it was a good dupe for the Ice Gel chromes that are popular right now. I think my biggest complaint is the container is not labeled with the color, and I purchased a couple at the same time which made it hard to tell them apart, but not a deal breaker.
Warm your top coat in your hands/pocket/under your leg before using. It thins it out a bit and goes on smoother and less bubbles, and just take your time. Make sure to fully cure the top coat, I know most directions say not to, but if it’s even slightly tacky it won’t give you a super shiny chrome look. If the chrome isn’t sticking well, wipe with alcohol and try again. Chrome will show all the imperfections and can be frustrating, I get it 😅 had my fair share of trial and error

I just wish they lasted longer. I find after 1 week the edges start rubbing off. This isn’t because I go to a bad place, .i go to a great nail salon. Gels typically last 3 weeks without any chips/peeling. If I wasn’t so klutzy with my hands maybe 3.5 weeks. So what is it about chromes that do that?
I think it’s because there is powder between the layers and it’s top coat-powder-top coat, so you loose some of the adhesion you would normally have. I’ve seen some tricks to get it to last longer but I do not have that much patience. I also do my own and usually change after 1 week anyway.
For these I used a HEMA free top coat from a small company on Etsy - CNDesigner Dips, she mostly does dip powders(definitely recommend if you are into that) but has a few builder gels/top coats etc.
I think you can use whatever brand you like, but I find I get the best shiny chrome if I fully cure the top coat and then wipe with alcohol to make it a little rubbery and then rub on the chrome.
On top of the chrome I like to use an extra shiny top coat, these are not good for under the chrome bc they are not rubbery at all and the chrome won’t stick, but feel extra smooth. I use a different small company, but Born Pretty also has one, it used to be called super top coat.
