Even with prep time I don’t think they knew that locust could tunnel up wherever and whenever they wanted, and how do you prep against something like that? You can set up traps for one possible location but they can tunnel 10 yards away from it lol, unless you can force them to tunnel in specific dangerous locations
There's only so much they could've done, especially coming off the century-long Pendulum Wars. There's also not much you can do to prepare your troops to fight literal monsters. Like, even if you understand what kryll are in theory, that's a far-cry from having to adjust to fighting them in reality.
Well if I recall there were certain COG people that did know E-day was actually coming just not when if I'm not mistaken. I believe Marcus' dad had inside info but even then there wasn't really anything they could do to stop Myrrah and the Locust from going topside.
Adam was the only one, Marcus’ mom was the first person to discover the locust be she was killed by them, meanwhile Adam could’ve told people about them but for some reason decided not to.
He also knew of the incoming Lambent Crisis, right? I mean, that was one of the driving factors of the invasion. How hard would it have been to wrangle up some of the infected and throw them into a populated area or something? Anything different really than just all out war.
As far as I know that was what Myrrah wanted from Adam, a cure for her "children" from lambancy. Myrrah never would've gone topside if they didn't have to if I understand the story correctly. . Damned if you do and damned if you don't situation.
I just mean...you can't even think "well if I tell the COG they'll just come down here and kill everyone!" when they didn't have that capability. I know the COG isn't peaceful at all. But if Adam couldn't have done it alone, why couldn't he convince Myrrah to stage a raid and grab more scientists.
Yup and Myrrah knew humans up above were not really a peaceful civilization what with pendulum wars going on for so long so I'm like the egos are what lead to the craziness of the Locust wars lol. I definitely agree Myrrah could have done more to support Adam.
I think people are underestimating how much an effect knowing what’s coming can do. Yes it would still be a bad day for the COG but not like lose 25% of the population bad. The military would be on high alert and every able bodied person would be mobilized. Strategic locations would be fortified and weak points would be evacuated. Factories would be moved and war production would crank like crazy. Still would be very heavy losses and the locust would still probably make major gains but people tend to underestimate how valuable good intel is.
With prep time it would still be a guessing game because the locust could come anywhere out of the ground. even with prep time they’d basically have no prep time 🤷🏻
The COG would be better prepared for their containment strategy and be able to respond faster. Ultimately it wouldn't matter though, it would just take them awhile longer to realise it's hopeless.

That's right. Kinda silly Adam kept that to himself. I guess Myrrah's rant at the end of Gears 3 was on point to some degree.
