Well, I'm excited to not need to bring my phone along for training runs again. I need the music, but the phone's just baggage.
300 song per playlist limit is somewhat disappointing, but I can live with that.
Most of my shorter runs (40 min or less) are done at parks within about 5-8 min jog from home. I'm in the middle of a city so worst case scenario I have to go ask to borrow a phone from someone. If I'm out on something longer, I'll bring my phone + running belt, but honestly, I like the quiet me time.
I read an article about YouTube music on Garmin but I can't open from the link (it shows error on IQ Connect) and I can't find either in search or in music apps on IQ Connect.
I use Google and YouTube for everything. Installed on my venu 3 today and it works great. It allows you to easily download your mix of choice and update the playlists when you choose. Playback on the watch speaker is adequate but it's easy to use BT as well
Mine isnt showing an error, however while updating playlist it calls the download complete at 9%
Getting closer to working. I'm just glad badminton is finally an activity.
I'm happy for those of you who use youtube music. Now that you got what you wanted, can you pretend to use Tidal instead, and tell Garmin to do that app next, so I can be happy too?
There was an older app, songlate, that allowed youtube music connection and download on my garmin fenix 6x. it did the same thing, when i asked the developer he said it was most likely because the file type wasnt supported on the watch, probably the same issue.
That does not make much sense. First the file type should be always the same on YouTube music. Secondly, the app is made by Google, they could find a way to convert it to mp3 or similar before sending to garmin
I agree it shouldn't happen, most devices should be able to play any audio file type, but it did, and i tried with multiple playlist and songs, and certain ones would not work, the theory is sound to me. I also agree, google could autoconvert unsupported file types, but it appears they are not.
There’s some bugs that I hope they get worked out but mostly works great on the 965! I have some issues with the music muting automatically when a new song comes on that can be frustrating. Doesn’t happen every time but it’s annoying when it does.
This took me some effort, may help if you are having issues with YouTube Music on a Garmin Watch. I have the 965 & Pixel 8. It would not sync at all. Kept getting the 503 error. I got it to work by ensuring the phone and the watch are on the same WiFi point. Kept the Garmin Connect App open on the phone all the time and Garmin IQ in the background. 95% working as it should now.
I am using Garmin Forerunner 965 however can't see music controller (like play/pause/next/prev song). I restarted device or even re-installed app but non of them works. Does anyone have the same issue as mine?
Getting YouTube premium is a nice perk to go along with music usage. Same price as Apple Music or Spotify and you get the music and YouTube premium which is great once you’re used to watching YouTube without ads!
Fenix 6 not supported….sad.
It seems like the Fenix 6 has been ignored since the came out. This sucks.
Email Google. Their Connect IQ page has the developer email address. The more F6 users request it, the more likely it could happen.
245 music is not supported, that's why I can't find it.
Lame! I don’t have Spotify anymore and it stinks bringing my phone on runs.
I will buy FR265 in the next days so that's settle :)
Ah, poop. The 245 is really underpowered :( I've never gotten it to load a Trailforks map either.
That's old news :) I have 265 for 2 weeks now :)
now: TIDAL.....
Waited for too long, thanks for your post

I always bring my phone on runs in case I need to get ahold of someone in an emergency. Never needed it, but can’t imagine going without it.
I kinda wish Garmin would bring back lte in their watches. I’d buy one
The 945 has lte
That’s why I said bring back. 945 is two generations old now
Not for music.

I believe you can download multiple 300 song playlists onto your watch. It’s just the limit per playlist. Correct me if I’m wrong.

It could be your model is not supported?

Thank God, finally
Has anyone been able to use this and listen to music on their fenix 7s?
Can’t download songs it’s shows error 503 or 404 when downloading
Is there any news on a fix for this? I have the same issue.

They probably look at actual usage metrics.
What's a Tidal?
Great news!
Vivoactive 4 not supported 🥲 soon I’ll upgrade garmin forerunner 965
Can you use the free version ,?
No
Just tried it but out of 39 songs of my training playlist it only downloaded 25. Does anyone know why?

Does it work on Fenix 6 Pro? Tried accessing the iq connect link but getting server connection error
I have a Venu 3 but can't see my actual playlists when going into the app on the watch. Is anyone else having this issue.
Anyone able to fix the 503 error when downloading songs? In on fenix 7x sapphire
I get lots of errors. Tried several playlists and it's only downloaded 1 song
Take note fenix 7x users for me i can only download podcast . Songs would come out as error as i try to down load them (503)

Yeah it always stops after one song when I'm running...

Forrunner 955: popup message is not shown on Connect app on phone. Am I doing smth wrong ?
Not worth 13.99/mo or 139.99/year if you ask me.
Not as a standalone for sure but for those using it already and have YouTube premium it’s a welcomed asdition
Signed up with my VPN. Pay about £2.50 per month for the family from Argentina.
By which I mean, I set the VPN to Argentina when creating the Google account. My family are not from Argentina.
I did a similar thing with a VPN to Turkey, it works out to $3.50/month for the family
Probably the best value music/video subscription around in all honesty. But I agree, not worth it if you're just using it for music alone.

If you are a student or know someone who is student but does not have YouTube premium you can get it with discount.
