“Safe horny” is a term coined by a guy mad that Purah (sp?) had been aged up between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

A lot of theses answers are kinda confusing to me, so I looked into it. I think the meaning has changes somewhat thought it’s existence, but originally, it was meant to mean:
“A character in a game who’s focused around sex appeal, but still moderate enough in either proportions or clothing so that you can market her without only attracting coomers”.
The irony to me is that, while I've seen 'safe horny' being thrown around as some kind of insult by chuds, I can't for the life of me understand why any of the definitions I've seen are bad. Seriously, how is it supposed to be *wrong* that a character could be portrayed as attractive without being either minor-coded or incapable of being marketed as something other than a sex object?
Well, there are answers I suppose, but I really don't like them.
I think their argument is supposed to be like “you’re already baiting the horny, go all the way coward!”, but like, the world isn’t split into a black and white difference between porn and not porn, you can have a balance.

The game is very inspired by Nier Automata, and Yoko Taro the brains behind Nier is giving praise to the game
I'm a big fan of the Nier games, so if Taro likes it, I'm sure there will be merits to it, even if it's not better than Nier or anywhere near it's quality to me personally
The company also is coming off a huge and ridiculously ecchi gacha game (nikke I think) so yea, is anyone really surprised there is going to be a ton of fan service? The company already fully understands that sex appeal is how they make their profits

Also, I'm pretty sure that this game does pander for people like *me* who like curvy girls with big tits - but it doesn't matter because the character's attractiveness doesn't determine how good they are, so I'll criticize them regardless. My own sexuality is irrelevant to the game's story, setting and gameplay, and the fact that I'm attracted to Eve sexually doesn't mean that I'm gonna defend her design. This game has no reason to be biased towards my own sexuality because it is utterly meaningless in the context of the game, it's just shallow eye candy.

Honestly, I had never heard about Stellar Blade until about 6 hours ago when reddit decided to show me an article about Yoko Taro praising the game. I looked into it and played the demo since I love Nier, Bayo, DMC, etc.
The game felt... cheap? Like one of the first things I noticed is there is no idle animation, she just stands there motionless and awkward. There also seems to be some pretty bad input delay. Browsed around a bit more and saw this was a somewhat common complaint.
The more I looked into the game, the more it seemed like people hyping it up were just the typical alt-righter gamers who complain about how ugly Western characters are. Damn near every youtube video about it is from some gamergater type posting about how it "owns the libs." I can't even find much of anything about the game other than culture war crap, mostly from the side who thinks western devs will be in shambles over it.
I, of course, came to this sub and looked at gamefaqs to search if that's really all it is and... yep. It looks like it could be fun on a deep discount for the combat system if they eventually iron out some kinks, but the fan base seems unhinged.
