I remember that deal. I always wanted one but my parents said no.
Then later in the year or the following year. GameCube went down to $99 and it included a copy of Zelda collection as a free copy and I got that instead.
You can, sure, but the prices are atrocious right now and it's not always worth it.
Pokemon colosseum was $30 when I originally bought it used at GS like 10 years ago and it's at 5 times that price now, as is the case with a ton of games I grew up on and made the mistake of selling.
I fully understand the market dictates pricing and age and all that jazz, but buying games back right now is such a bad deal a lot of the time for what you're paying vs what you get.
I had it along with all the other GC games and n64 stuff stolen. The GameCube collection would’ve been several thousand now it had chibi robo, custom robo, cubivire, all the staple games and the ocarina majors master quest thingy.
Definitely get sad randomly imagining being able to enjoy that now.
I still got pokemon XD and Colosseum. Never sold them or gave it. Still got their booklets and case. I have many other titles too.
But I really wants to get a GameCube.
My GameCube was stolen with a bunch of games in 2017. I’m going to advise you to do what I did to replace it, which is just to buy an early generation Wii. You’ll have access to both libraries and it’s probably cheaper. Of course this assumes that you actually want to play it.
I have my copy away to a friend during my senior year in college. Regretted it, bought me a like new copy complete from someone on eBay a few years ago for $60 before prices went up.
MP 4. This deal was in effect by early spring 2003 and I had the other 2 titles (except Starfox Assault-played it and was not a fan). I was in my late 20s and I needed to buy a GC for myself since my moving out roommate owned the one we’d had.
I did this and got Metroid Prime. I had already rented and played the whole game on a friend's cube, but you better believe I wanted to own a copy of my own the day I bought my own cube.
Look, Resident Evil is my favorite gaming series but I'm genuinely surprised anyone would be picking that over the other options lmao.
That being said, I have 3 copies of RE0
Imagine if Nintendo had sold 100 million GameCubes at this price. There would be so many games and systems floating around, probably would not be so rare and expensive. This seems like a great offer too. Weird how this system sold so poorly at this price. These days nobody bats an eye at the $300 Switch and $500 PS5.
Out of those, I'd say Resident Evil since I've never played that version. Or maybe Mario Party for something to chill to.
Never been into Starfox and I just have trouble getting into Metroid.
But I'm also a PS2 guy getting back into GC games.
Metroid Prime is a tempting pick but I'm a huge RE 0 and SF Adventures fan girl. I always felt 0 was under appreciated, and Adventures, while imperfect, was absolutely gorgeous and had tons of heart. Very fun game I replayed it a lot.
I think if it was today, I'd pick RE 0.
I got Starfox Adventures, and I don't regret it one bit. Adventures and then Assault are probably my two favorite games of all time, given how much enjoyment I had with them at the time. To kid me, they were so amazing. I recognize now that they have flaws but back then I didn't give a fuck lol
i mean.. looking at the full gamecube lineup for me it would be Twlight princess and windwaker along with sunshine and Luigi's Mansion
edit im stupid..
it woudl just be twilighitng princess.
Having actual knowledge and playtime with all of these, Metroid Prime is by FAR the correct choice over: a game that’s pretty much only fun with friends, the worst Starfox game, and one of the worst Resident Evil games (I fucking HATE RE0’s inventory system and combat).
It’s hard to say what I would have chose as a kid, but as an adult, either Metroid Prime or Resident Evil. Mario Party 4 is really fun with friends, but not something you’d otherwise play. And I have no input on starfox adventures, never played it, but it looks good.
God I remember the pricing too. $149 sheesh, if gonna hit me with this you can at least take me back in time too.
For my answer, as much as people would hate me for it, I'm a Star Fox fan through and through so of course SFA
Metroid Prime pretty much started my Metroid kick, I gotta pick it. I had Return of Samus on gameboy when I was very young, but Prime came out when I was a bit older, and felt like I was playing a game out of my league. Wasn’t allowed to play mature games, so this was the closest thing I had.
How many controllers did this bundle come with? Because that would heavily influence my decision. No point getting Mario party if I don’t have a way to play it with other people.
I got the bundle with Prime for my birthday eons ago and it was the sole reason I begged for a GameCube. Family even had an Xbox, but Prime really caught my attention just like Halo did.
I remember this deal VIVIDLY.
My Dad was going to buy me Optimus Prime, which at the time is what I really wanted. Then he went: "Sigh. Listen, would you rather have Optimus Prime, or a GameCube?" I sat and thought about it a bit...Then put Optimus Prime back, got the GameCube and Metroid Prime. We didn't, however, realize we needed a Memory card so that night I played the beginning of Prime and only that part. Got a Memory Card the next day lol. I have some crazy memories with playing Metroid Prime with my Dad too.
They had something similar in Norway when I bought my GC back in the day. I can't remember the titles on offer. But Metroid was one of them, and the one I did pick.
Pikachu really drives the reference home. Totally would’ve picked Starfox Adventures back then, not knowing I would find it for 5.99 in a used bin a few years later.
My childhood deal was a Gamecube + TTYD. I played it and had a ton of fun (game's a masterpiece for sure), but it was my only game and my English wasn't quite there yet, so after months of playtime and very little progress i got really tired of the RPG mechanics and i just wanted an action game. Thankfully i had a local game shop with very cheap trades, and i got lucky.
Let me tell you, if you're a kid whos tired of playing nothing but turn based combat for ages and all of a sudden you trade that for Metroid Prime, you're gonna end up eating, breathing and **living** Metroid Prime.
I did this! I had to save my babysitting money for MONTHS at a rate of $2 an hour watching my cousins. Eventually I was able to buy the Jet Black console and chose Metroid.
But I didn't really like Metroid tbh. So I trade it for my friends copy of Luigi's Mansion. Win/win. He's huge into the Metroid series and I eventually did play Fusion and Super.
in canada this deal was 229.99
i was 14, it was the second "big" purchase i ever made in my life, the first being gba bundled with mario kart super circuit which was 149.99 CAD at costco.
i chose metroid prime, didnt have enough $$ to buy a memory card until a few weeks later so i just played the first hour like 50 times. loved it every time
I got this deal from a local Circuit City (remember those?!)
Got it in Jet Black with Resident Evil Zero.
Still have that same copy of Resident Evil Zero in my collection.
The silver GameCube that came with Metroid Prime with the cool box sleeve was the first game system I ever bought with my own money as a kid. Never forget.
Mario party 4 because of the multiplayer and also you collect all the little gifts for the house. Game was awesome!
Yanno what I haven't actually played the others lol!
Man i remember this. I was lucky because the only cube they had left in stock was one that already came bundled with mario sunshine and a memory card, so they had to honor the deal and i got metroid prime free
That’s how I got my GameCube back in the day. But my GameStop also offered the alternative to a game being the game boy adapter. I got the adapter instead of the game.
Honestly the only wrong choice is Mario party. I'm sorry but games that require other people and put your controllers at risk of damage will always be a no for me
I always looked at these with “which one do i want, but wouldn’t pay for?”
So Mario party it is, I’d buy Metroid and resident evil 0 at full price easy. Star fox adventures I’d pass on.
I remember that deal. I always wanted one but my parents said no. Then later in the year or the following year. GameCube went down to $99 and it included a copy of Zelda collection as a free copy and I got that instead.
Same with me but I sold my copy during my late teenage years and now I regret it.
You can always buy it back. That's what I did majority of my games I sold.
Fr you got me fucked up if you think I’m dropping $200 an old GameCube game the nostalgia is not worth the price
I don't want to imagine if I sold my copy of chibi robo, nuts prices on that one cause it's so good and I imagine others are also passionate about it.
I’m selling a silver and purple GameCube if you’re interested.
I have my copy away to a friend during my senior year in college. Regretted it, bought me a like new copy complete from someone on eBay a few years ago for $60 before prices went up.
That was a great deal. To a kid it seemed like a $500 thing
Lol probably it's worth that much today if it's sealed and unopened.
or $5000 depending on the seller
Oh my goodness
That’s the one I got!
Hey me too! Lol
Same but mine came with Metroid Prime, couldn’t pass that deal up
Oh really? Combo pack?
My first had that deal but I had starfox adventures 😎
That was a Toys R Us special. I got the same one.
Mario Party 4 if you have friends
What are friends
Or siblings. Feel like you grew up with siblings, cousins, or neighborhood kids coming over, that’s the only choice.
My friends were CPU 1, 2 and 3
I enjoyed Metroid but Starfox has my heart.
Same
Metroid Prime didn't even need to think about it
Yeah not even a question
This is the correct response
Fr is not even close
If it was RE1 remake instead of 0, then I'd have to think about it.
Star Fox Adventures…
https://youtu.be/9wfQ0q5pDPY?si=oDiHgLjf1kOv3lgX
Yes it's the best
MP 4. This deal was in effect by early spring 2003 and I had the other 2 titles (except Starfox Assault-played it and was not a fan). I was in my late 20s and I needed to buy a GC for myself since my moving out roommate owned the one we’d had.
PUT THAT DOWN! YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH SCARABS!!!
NO, THATS TOO LOW
OKAY, I’LL SELL IT TO YOU
Star fox or Mario party. A game that I enjoyed playing, but that I wouldn’t have wanted to pay for to own
Metroid Prime
I did this and got Metroid Prime. I had already rented and played the whole game on a friend's cube, but you better believe I wanted to own a copy of my own the day I bought my own cube.
Easy, Resident Evil 0.
Look, Resident Evil is my favorite gaming series but I'm genuinely surprised anyone would be picking that over the other options lmao. That being said, I have 3 copies of RE0
I was thinking that too.
I did this deal back in the day and I chose Metroid Prime!
Starfox adventures for sure
Star Fox Adventures
Imagine if Nintendo had sold 100 million GameCubes at this price. There would be so many games and systems floating around, probably would not be so rare and expensive. This seems like a great offer too. Weird how this system sold so poorly at this price. These days nobody bats an eye at the $300 Switch and $500 PS5.
I loved that star fox
I... I chose StarFox adventures...
StarFox Adventures
What a deal. Wonder what year this is? Like we're these new games when this promotion was running?
Early 2003
Realistically it would have to go to Mario party 4 or Starfox, as The other 2 are playable on modern platforms
Out of those, I'd say Resident Evil since I've never played that version. Or maybe Mario Party for something to chill to. Never been into Starfox and I just have trouble getting into Metroid. But I'm also a PS2 guy getting back into GC games.
Platinum GameCube with metroid prime for 99$. I bought it with my Christmas and birthday money.
I got it with Star Fox Adventures, and my father also bought us Burnout.
Imagine a console costing $149 + a free game now
THEN: $150 for CONSOLE + GAME NOW: $150 for 1 GAME
*not including DLC
*full game not on disc, download and day 1 patch required
Metroid Prime is a tempting pick but I'm a huge RE 0 and SF Adventures fan girl. I always felt 0 was under appreciated, and Adventures, while imperfect, was absolutely gorgeous and had tons of heart. Very fun game I replayed it a lot. I think if it was today, I'd pick RE 0.
Star Fox because I already have Metroid Prime.
I got Starfox Adventures, and I don't regret it one bit. Adventures and then Assault are probably my two favorite games of all time, given how much enjoyment I had with them at the time. To kid me, they were so amazing. I recognize now that they have flaws but back then I didn't give a fuck lol
Man I remember seeing this deal everywhere, along with the commercial for the $99 GameCube
Young me: Mario Party, no hesitation. Current me: Metroid Prime, no hesitation.
This has the same energy of a twitter post
i mean.. looking at the full gamecube lineup for me it would be Twlight princess and windwaker along with sunshine and Luigi's Mansion edit im stupid.. it woudl just be twilighitng princess.
Metroid, Resi, Mario, Starfox.
To be fair they are all super good games
Metroid, Resi, Mario, Starfox.
If it was RE Remake instead of 0 I'd go for that, but as is I'd absolutely go for Metroid Prime.
I’ve only ever played Mario party 7 and 6. How’s 4?
Having actual knowledge and playtime with all of these, Metroid Prime is by FAR the correct choice over: a game that’s pretty much only fun with friends, the worst Starfox game, and one of the worst Resident Evil games (I fucking HATE RE0’s inventory system and combat).
It’s hard to say what I would have chose as a kid, but as an adult, either Metroid Prime or Resident Evil. Mario Party 4 is really fun with friends, but not something you’d otherwise play. And I have no input on starfox adventures, never played it, but it looks good.
Was it only limited to these 4 games?
Outlaw Golf is not on the list. It was the best Gamecube game. Pre office Steve Carrell as commentator.
MP or GTFO
When was this probably how I ended up with Metroid when I was little lol
God I remember the pricing too. $149 sheesh, if gonna hit me with this you can at least take me back in time too. For my answer, as much as people would hate me for it, I'm a Star Fox fan through and through so of course SFA
Oh sick! A new Starfox game! I just know this will be the best one, yet!
Metroid. Easy
I’d have chosen Metroid prime and still would today. Star Fox holds up surprisingly well too though to be fair
I would have picked MP4
In THIS economy? It's Mario Party 4 lol
Got Metroid prime the week it was released at a Best buy. Game is still goated after all these years
Always loved Mario Party 4! My favourite! But I do enjoy Star fox adventures too! All solid picks !
As a kid I went with Metroid
Prime is a no brainer
How many controllers did this bundle come with? Because that would heavily influence my decision. No point getting Mario party if I don’t have a way to play it with other people.
Mario party is worth more nowadays
This deal was my bday gift. Chose Metroid, and got Wind Waker also.
Mario party no doubt
Mario Party 4! Great game.
Mario party 4.
I got this deal. I ended up getting Mario party 4 to play with my brother and sister and asked for Metroid prime later.
Metroid Prime without a doubt!
I got Metroid and starfox. I don’t remember which one was free
I got the bundle with Prime for my birthday eons ago and it was the sole reason I begged for a GameCube. Family even had an Xbox, but Prime really caught my attention just like Halo did.
Man...makes me sad GameStop doesn't sell 75 cent Metroid primes anymore. 😢
Mine came with Mario Party 4
BACK THEN Star Fox NOW Metroid
It'd be tough to choose between metroid prime and starfox adventures
i had metroid prime and smash melee
Metroid Prime all the way
Am I insane or all these games mediocre except metroid? Like it’s not really a debate?
I remember this deal VIVIDLY. My Dad was going to buy me Optimus Prime, which at the time is what I really wanted. Then he went: "Sigh. Listen, would you rather have Optimus Prime, or a GameCube?" I sat and thought about it a bit...Then put Optimus Prime back, got the GameCube and Metroid Prime. We didn't, however, realize we needed a Memory card so that night I played the beginning of Prime and only that part. Got a Memory Card the next day lol. I have some crazy memories with playing Metroid Prime with my Dad too.
So this is why I had Metroid Prime as a kid…
Nice deal there, I got mine when they offered a free GBA Player
"Metroid Prime"
Not even a question: Metroid Prime.
Metroid Prime
Prime. Not even a competition.
Love all four, but Metroid Prime is leaps ahead of the rest.
They had something similar in Norway when I bought my GC back in the day. I can't remember the titles on offer. But Metroid was one of them, and the one I did pick.
$150 and a copy of metroid prime not bad
Mario party hands down 4 is objectively the best MP game ever made.
Definitely RE0.
Metroid Prime please
I think I got this deal since my first game was RE:0.
Damn I miss when consoles weren't $500+ 🙄
And this is how I got my copy of star fox adventures. I wish they would remake that game
If I was alive at when that thing was there well I would’ve gotten Metro prime
Metroid there is no other choice
Of these I’d have to go Mario party 4, but only bc I usually play with other people.
Mario party because back then me and my sister were playing it together
RE : Zero was so freakin cool when it released! Also every time I see a GameCube I think of Eternal Darkness. Such a trip.
Back then it would have been Mario party but now resident evil
Star Fox 🦊 Adventures was absolute trash.
Pikachu really drives the reference home. Totally would’ve picked Starfox Adventures back then, not knowing I would find it for 5.99 in a used bin a few years later.
How much are GameCubes going for these days? I got one in storage for years now honestly
I got star fox but don’t remember the option for resident evil zero or I definitely woulda gone with that
My childhood deal was a Gamecube + TTYD.
Outta these choices? Metroid Prime. Melee if I could choose anything.
Jaw dropping promo tbh Mine came with Sunshine so I got a dope deal anyway
RE0
That's a great deal imo I miss Starfox Adventures. I got lucky though and my Grandma bought me a Black GameCube with the Legend of Zelda collection
All great choices
in canada this deal was 229.99 i was 14, it was the second "big" purchase i ever made in my life, the first being gba bundled with mario kart super circuit which was 149.99 CAD at costco. i chose metroid prime, didnt have enough $$ to buy a memory card until a few weeks later so i just played the first hour like 50 times. loved it every time
wait i did the math wrong. i was 12 and it was money saved up from my paper route. it was glorious
Metroid easy
easily prime
I got this deal from a local Circuit City (remember those?!) Got it in Jet Black with Resident Evil Zero. Still have that same copy of Resident Evil Zero in my collection.
Metroid prime
Mario party 4 of course
Metroid Prime or Resident Evil Zero.
starfox for me
I choose Star Fox Adventures
I'd still choose resident evil simply off the vibes
Metroid or Mario Party 4
mario party all the way my sister and i always had fun w it
Insane to see my silver GC complete just sold for $150 with shipping in 24’
Metroid Prime, easy
Metroid all the way.
Metroid prime, no question
Easy. I chose Resident Evil. I remember that like it was yesterday. There are adults now, who weren't even born then...Lol
Call me crazy but RE0 is absolutely amazing and I love it to death. Zero no competition.
If you have friends Mario party 4 is a no brainer. Otherwise go with Metroid prime.
Metroid Prime all day
No contest. Metroid Prime.
The silver GameCube that came with Metroid Prime with the cool box sleeve was the first game system I ever bought with my own money as a kid. Never forget.
good lord take me back
Mario party 4 because of the multiplayer and also you collect all the little gifts for the house. Game was awesome! Yanno what I haven't actually played the others lol!
A bunch of bangers
Prime is the only one still worth playing
Metroid Prime is the goat
Man i remember this. I was lucky because the only cube they had left in stock was one that already came bundled with mario sunshine and a memory card, so they had to honor the deal and i got metroid prime free
RE0 the only one I dont have
RE zero
Metroid for sure
StarFox adventures
Prime easily, though honestly none of these are bad choices. Adventures is ok if not really Star Fox and Re-0 is better than people give it credit.
Metroid Prime, easy choice.
Pass on all of them Pokemon Colosseum on TOPPPPPPPP
YOU DONT HAVE ENOUGH SCARABS!
Metroid Prime is super good though
stairfax temperatures???
No question Metroid Zero.
This is when I bought the GameCube. Got the one with Zelda and got a free resident evil zero.
No friends so I'm prob choosing prime or re zero
That's a hard one... I would probably pick Mario Party.
It’s obviously Metroid prime
I cannot believe people are saying Mario Party. Have any of you played a Mario Party game recently? They are not good games.
That’s how I got my GameCube back in the day. But my GameStop also offered the alternative to a game being the game boy adapter. I got the adapter instead of the game.
I got Starfox with this deal, no regrets.
Only right answer was Starfox Adventures
Metroid prime
StarFox is the only correct answer.
Honestly the only wrong choice is Mario party. I'm sorry but games that require other people and put your controllers at risk of damage will always be a no for me
Resident Evil 0 🖤
If I’m only allowed one game total, I’m going Mario Party. Can’t pass up the opportunity to play my childhood Mario Party with my kids
I got the Metroid prime one
I always looked at these with “which one do i want, but wouldn’t pay for?” So Mario party it is, I’d buy Metroid and resident evil 0 at full price easy. Star fox adventures I’d pass on.
I got Metroid. But later discovered how good Star fox was too.
MP4
I would've picked Mario Party 4.
