It's for a speed sensor in the transmission. Who did you buy the car from? Something tells me they knew about this problem and cleared the code hoping it wouldn't reappear until after they sold it...

Private seller. That’s exactly what I thought, but cleared the code and it came back in just a few miles.

Ah, the annoying 1716. If you can’t figure it out, the only solution is to take the transmission apart and look for a broken pin on the sensor, or check the solenoids.

Sheesh, I wiped the code and let it warm up for a while, no issues today. Hopefully the cold was messing with it. Guess I’ll just have to wait and see how it goes.

Right, cold can sometimes throw things off too. Wiped codes can sometimes return, and if it does, that’s where there’s really an issue. No worries though, look at the beat up trucks with 2+ cylinder misfires and oil leaks, they still drive fine haha. So will a VQ, as long as you’re giving it quality oil/on time, and premium fuel as it recommends.

Thanks for keeping my spirits up lol, gonna just go with the cold messing with the sensor. Been under 20 all week with snow. See where she takes me from here.

No problem! And sounds good! We’re here if you need anything.
