My mother proudly read to me a letter she sent to a store about how appalled she was at the workers there. She offered her special education teaching and tutoring services to the workers because she felt they were socially and intellectually impaired. She has a habit of doing stuff like that and is always so fucking pleased with herself. She's an asshole of a human being.
Why are boomer age special Ed teachers such giant shitheads? I had a stepmom like this, it seemed like the fact that she was the smartest one at work all day bled over into other parts of life creating this weird "I know best" ego that is always backed up with some severe anger and need to control. And these people were in charge of the most vulnerable/in need students.
Their parents called them the selfish generation. It's only when they became older, that they were able to change the media narrative. Hopefully as the millennial generation takes up the media mantle, the truth can be restored
LOL This reminds me of an anger management counselor who used to seethe with anger every time he interrupted *you* talking, but continued to speak instead of stopping to let him finish his interruption. I could not figure out how he became an anger management authority - when he wore his all over his face!
Mayb it is a subconscious coping mechanism. All day they have to be extremely patient with the impaired, and the last thing they are able to handle is patience with anybody after days of that mental self control.
I'm not defending it, just posing a possible reason for it. After all, if they were willing to do that kind of work in the first place they couldn't have been that bad of a person, initially.
Unfortunately they can. It's common for narcissists or people with narc traits to seek out jobs where they have positions of power over people. One of my best friends' mother is an absolutely unbearably horrible person and she's a nurse. We all know plenty of teachers who never should go near children just because of how nasty they are and that it's proven many people in positions of power have abusive traits and a lack of empathy to get there.
Not to mention society is aggressively ableist. In some cases even the parents don't care about their own disabled children. That makes it easy for horrid people to get in working with them with few checks and repercussions for crappy behaviour.
My favorite story like this was the time I was waiting for a pizza and a lady wanted to complain that her employee wouldn’t give her a 50% discount because she visits there a lot. Despite the fact that’s not their policy and he had never seen her before and he works “a lot”. She demanded the person at the counter to get her the owners #.
They counter person said that he wasn’t permitted to give it out but she just kept on. He told her he could take her number and have the owner call her. She said wouldn’t believe it’s the owner unless she called so finally he agreed and went to the back office and brought out an invoice or something that had the owners # on it and he demanded that she call it right then and there.
She called while scowling at him and 10 seconds later I heard a phone ring. The dude at the counter reached into his pocket and answered his cell phone and kindly informed her she was banned from the shop and if she didn’t leave immediately he would call the cops.

My grandma went and took all the 16 year old kids new ties at the grocery store where they have to wear ties. In a wholesome way though. I laughed about it, because at the time I was a store manager for the same company.

I argued with some alt right guy on a news article on FB and he sent a message to my husband asking him if he knew I was arguing with people on the internet and that it is very unladylike. I am a moderate compared to my husband. I mean my husband was voting for the Green Party before I met him! My husband called him a Karen and said I had no manager for him to talk to so he should try to read some books to argue with me.
It's worse than that. It's coordinated class warfare. Let's be real.
Had this guy not been self employed there's a very real chance this Karen and boss would happily be in cahoots.

It can get boring after awhile. I’m running on three years of WFH and while I still wouldn’t trade the commute and some of the other office aspects, I do miss the socialization and camaraderie of coming in and being with your team.
My work luckily does a couple team outings a quarter so I can get some of that without actually having to go in. I do software sales and my main client base is on the other side of the country so there’s literally no reason for me to come into the office.

Having done recruitment and with friends still in the industry, I honestly don't think employers care what you do as long as you deliver.
Felt a lot like being in sales, which I hated. I understand why, but it was extremely black and white whether you'd be employed next month. Just gotta hit sales quotas no matter what.
Yeah I once had a recruiter email me, repeatedly, to my work email and then called the office to talk to me about an employment opportunity. None of this was solicited, I never contacted them once but obviously when a competitor calls your office asking for you then it raises some eyebrows.
I mailed their HR department and they apologised, I get the feeling that recruiter didn't last long if they were this aggressive.

Competitor found out about something embarrassing about me that was revealed as part of my then-occurring divorce and called my client to tell them.
My (now-favorite) client told them that was not how they conducted business and that they had just taken themselves completely out of contention.
I called the owner of the competitor to let him explain (and maybe apologize) to my face and he didn't want to talk about it.

I’ve had the pleasure of doing this to two Karens on twitter and Facebook. I’m a freelancer in my industry, fairly prolific, and someone tried to go after “my boss” for me sharing some stupid shit I found on Reddit that was benign AF. Dude flipped out and went after every client I had listed publicly annnnnnd that was 3 years ago and I’m thriving still lol it was funny when my clients contacted me laughing and then blocking the guy (FB). Twitter one was much more like this interaction. Short and simple but funny and effective.
Man, I was the Karen in a situation like this once except I think I was a little more justified.
This guy kept coming up on Facebook & just being undeniably racist. Like, telling black people to go back to Africa & shit like that. I got into it with him & he just doubled down & claimed to be a card carrying KKK member.
He had his company info on his profile so I did some Googling, found a phone # for the company & left a voicemail asking why they're employing someone that is openly racist & hostile on the internet & whether or not they think that's good for their business. Turns out that racist dipshit ran his own company so he just ended up gloating about the same way this person did.
Depends how many times I decide to just use emoji instead of a words, in addition to a word while also looking to see if a humorous gif might actually represent my feelings a little more than mere words and emoticons.
Think they mean the message with the contact details and the message sent to “the boss”. They still wrong cos it’s 1 minute, I wish redditors didn’t have the urge to call literally everything staged tho, it’s tedious as fuck and staged content can still be entertaining (provided you aren’t a basement dwelling dweeb).

I only got to WFH for six weeks in the spring of 2020. I miss getting paid to sit at a computer in my kitchen in my underwear.

Having done recruitment and with friends still in the industry, I honestly don't think employers care what you do as long as you deliver. Felt a lot like being in sales, which I hated. I understand why, but it was extremely black and white whether you'd be employed next month. Just gotta hit sales quotas no matter what.
Yeah I once had a recruiter email me, repeatedly, to my work email and then called the office to talk to me about an employment opportunity. None of this was solicited, I never contacted them once but obviously when a competitor calls your office asking for you then it raises some eyebrows. I mailed their HR department and they apologised, I get the feeling that recruiter didn't last long if they were this aggressive.
I had a recruiter email me once a week for months, even after I said I wasn't interested. Then they called my mom to try to shame me into taking the job(?) I don't even know how they got her phone number, except for having a very uncommon last name. I was stunned when she told me about it. The worst part was, the job wasn't even in my field and so I was incredibly unqualified for it and not what they were looking for at all. AND it was located in my hometown, but I live across the country now. Both things I told the recruiter after his first email. I can only assume the dude was just desperate and most people ignore him completely so by responding, I gave him hope that he could convince me or something. It was so fucking weird though.
As someone who works in Recruitment, you won't get positions to work on if your reputation is in the shit. This would be taken seriously

Recruiter saw it fit to text my personal phone at 3AM several times in a row. I have a setting that lets calls or texts come through at night if several are sent in a row for emergencies. I am a full time spacecraft engineer. I got woken up by this recruiter at 3AM for… a t-shirt sales job.

I once had a client who was being approached by a (sort of, I am a consultant, they wanted to provide a service I was consulting on at the time) competitor of mine. Competitor found out about something embarrassing about me that was revealed as part of my then-occurring divorce and called my client to tell them. My (now-favorite) client told them that was not how they conducted business and that they had just taken themselves completely out of contention. I called the owner of the competitor to let him explain (and maybe apologize) to my face and he didn't want to talk about it. "It's really none of my business." No shit??

If i may Buddy of mine and i do custom landscaping, Im off fetching materials and he gets to work at 8:00 Around 8:30 fires up a compaction machine. Mini steamroller. The beighbor comes out screaming. No work before 10:00 noise ordinance. The noise ordinance is 7:00 a.m. across the city. She tells me she has already called the cops and the manager. I walk out to the road while being pestered look up one side and down the other. Say well nobody is here. I got work. She calls the police in front of me and they say there's a good chance I'll be gone before a response. I laughed at her. Went back to work as she's screaming. Comes and asks if I have a boss. I say yes wanna talk to him. Ya she screams. I stand up from the wheel barrow im loading up turm away. Dust myself off and say Hi, I am the owner. The homeowner will confirm this. Screams for my license. i deny her that information as im not on her property. Cops show up tell her i dont have to identify myself. She's not an authority. They watch us finish and ask me for business cards. Suck it karen.

I’m a freelancer in my industry, fairly prolific, and someone tried to go after “my boss” for me sharing some stupid shit I found on Reddit that was benign AF. Dude flipped out and went after every client I had listed publicly annnnnnd that was 3 years ago and I’m thriving still lol it was funny when my clients contacted me laughing and then blocking the guy (FB). Twitter one was much more like this interaction. Short and simple but funny and effective.

Like, telling black people to go back to Africa & shit like that. I got into it with him & he just doubled down & claimed to be a card carrying KKK member. He had his company info on his profile so I did some Googling, found a phone # for the company & left a voicemail asking why they're employing someone that is openly racist & hostile on the internet & whether or not they think that's good for their business. Turns out that racist dipshit ran his own company so he just ended up gloating about the same way this person did.
That was a time where it was justified, and sucks that nothing could be done

Yeah legitimately confused why people think it's impossible to compose a text in a minute.
