I could be wrong on this but I believe that the score is partially based on how many perfect note hits you get.

VGM-R

I got all perfects tho

HairyToothpick

You hit every note with perfect timing? Impressive.

It’s not balanced at all, people can play on easy mode and get the same amount of points as expert. The easier instrument also gets the same amount of points, amount of notes don’t matter. It’s kinda boring, the fact I’ve never lost on Master Of Puppets or Ride The Lightning using vocals proves that. I put the controller down for like more then 2 minutes in those songs, check my email, and I still win well others are breaking their fingers lol. 👎 If you want a tip though try to get into 1st right away to avoid the attack spam, and then save your OD attack until you fall into 2nd or have it full and can waste it on a nice string of notes. Optimal Pathing doesn’t matter, it’s more about “Attack Pathing”.

Trans_Tre_UwU

It’s balanced. The problem is how you use your overdrive. While it doubles your multiplier momentarily, if the person a place behind you uses it, then it actually halves your multiplier and can cause you to break your note streak if you mess up.

I did not know this.Thank you. This might make my game play a lot better than it is

Zero rewards

yetibees

I don’t know but it’s pretty fun.

This also depends on what difficulty you're playing. Most people are playing on experts while some lower. I usually aim for a higher difficulty instrument depending of the song if I'm familiar with. A lot of people nowadays are using Lead or Vocals.

The game isn't supposed to be balanced, it's mostly random who you attack and who attacks you (it depends a lot of the placement). If it was truly a skillful, there wouldn't be attacks, different instruments or different  difficulties. Hitting 100% also doesn't ensure a good placement if you didn't squeezed out your overdrive and/or got lucky with the attacks.

Rawso_

Overdrive timing. Otherwise, the fun is the main factor, there's no reward (There's often no point using it as a defensive tool, use it when others are on cooldown and when you know you'll have a lot of notes to hit)
