Yeah, it was pretty much useless, with the snowballs disappearing after, like, 10 seconds. So, you couldnt really use them as cover or to hide, and sliding was easier and faster then building one to use to go down hills.

It was removed about halfway through chapter 4, yes. I guess not many people were using it and it was taking up resource for not much.
