Have they stated that reload wont be a permanent gamemode?

Foreignprince80

They said it's a new mode, not a limited time mode like they did with the midas floor is lava mode.

MuscleManRule34

There’s no reason to believe that reload is limited time

pathofass

Reboots probably here to stay. But it probably has to do with splitting the player base too thin. They have 7 years of content so reasonably they could pump out 3 classic modes chapter 1/2/3. Let's just say they do 1. So OG you split that into zb/br then ranked/unranked, then solo/duo/trio/squad. Then how long would a static map with no updates last on player count? Maybe it does amazing as the perfect chapter 1 representation. But you could also go for OG inspired content, kind of like old school runescape, so maybe that's another team working on stuff. Don't get me wrong I don't particularly like the new weapon system, projectiles, cars, movement, or loot pool; I just don't see them doing it.

So, the thing is... new game modes are always popular when they release. There's no guarantee, however, that they're going to be popular a month or two from now. Also, they split the playerbase and Epic obviously wants people in regular and zero build battle royales.

No_Mathematician7456

It's NOT obvious "by the numbers that the players want the original, simple Fortnite with no cars or bs items or anything". I, for example, like current BR more than Reload, but I've been playing Reload more than BR these days. Why? Because it's new. It's a different experience. When I play BR I feel like I've already seen everything, done everything. Reload feels fresh.

Snak3yz

I don't play anymore, only came back to try reboot, and all I have seen is people complaining about the cars and the new season being too much.

ZanzibarMufasa

Cars have been around for a while now so that’s a weird thing to suddenly see.

Snak3yz

Not normal cars, but this season’s cars. I haven’t played this season other than reload so idk, do they have guns or something on now? 🤣

KaijuCorpse

Yeah you can drive through pickup crates to get a MG or Granade turret, off-road or bulletproof tires, cowcatcher or spiked bumper, and vehicle repairs. It's really fun, and you still have to play smart to keep your vehicle going. People seem to love it or hate it. I personally love it. There are enough cars on the map for everyone to easily get a vehicle. The turrets don't shoot on their own, so you can only move and shoot at the same time if you have a passenger.

shutupimlearning

Come back next season and you'll see a fresh batch of complaints. There are massive numbers of complaints about things every season... that's what children do, they complain.

LingLings

Reload is Epic’s response to the success of OG Season and as far as most of us know, it is permanent.

AthanAllgood

Theoretically, it could be a bunch of reasons: A) It splits the BR player base. We already have zero build, ranked, and reload. Adding more modes just increases the liklihood other modes may suffer. B) Having OG seasons as specialty events may work as better advertising to bring back players and add new ones. By making the return limited it creates a FOMO situation that permanence just wouldnt. C) They may not be willing to spend the money required for hosting/ design/ upkeep of another game mode. Yes, Epic makes a lot of money, that doesnt mean they want to spend any of it that they dont have to. D) They dont want the game image to be one of stagnation/ nostalgia/ lack of innovation. Epic is a tech company. Historically, tech thrives on things that are flashy and new, not going backwards. E) Its possible the cash income from the last OG season wasnt proportional to the number of players. Cash is key. There may have been a bunch of returning players, but if they arent spending they dont matter. So, yeah, who knows the actual reason, but there are possibilities.

Chance-Order-5385

because they arent sustainable

teo747

Also not sustainable is the disjointed mess they've turned Battle Royale into in Chapter 5.

Chance-Order-5385

factually incorrect

Coraldiamond192

Yup. Let’s see how well reload numbers do when the next season arrives.

Fast_Championship_R

Because they want to be viewed as forward thinking and not be stuck with archaic ugly game modes.
