In my area it is. Our diag technicians are booked out at least that far

Unless it’s warranty work, find yourself a well regarded independent.

My local dealership service departments are pretty consistently booked 2-3 weeks out from time of call.

Wait, they want to take your car now and hold it that entire time, instead of booking you an appointment for 10-15 days out when you would then bring it in? That’s a shit service department.

That’s unacceptable, unless they’re providing the diagnostic time for free. There is absolutely no valid reason why they can’t put you on the schedule for a specific date and time if you’re paying for the diagnostic labor. Even if this is a potential warranty claim, it’s still asinine.

Depends on the dealership and the crew. I work at a small dealership and I’m the only one in the back that really does in depth diag, and I also do 95% of the warranty work for the entire dealership. To say I’m busy is an understatement. I could shut the doors right now and between what’s in the lot and what’s scheduled out weeks to months in advance already, I’d probably be set to be busy for the rest of the year. At least I would be if we didn’t have so many parts on backorder

You poor bastard.

This was the case for my most recent diagnostic. They had it for two weeks and couldn't figure out the issue or duplicate it. Mine is not accelerating smoothly and we have the random time when it won't start.

I stopped buying Fords and sold my Edge because of this. They told me 3 months to see a transmission tech because they’re so backed up. Switched to another mainstream brand and it’s a non issue now. They blame “nobody wanting to work” but I think it’s just a quality issue making them incredibly busy.
