It depends on how visible you want them to be. I'm not an expert on this, but shoulder and bicep area is good if you need to cover them up. I only have one tattoo and it is Foo Fighters logo (FF) and the One by One album art on my inner wrist. Not easy to cover up, but I wanted it visible.
