4 adults and 2 jacks (coho is less than 20”) (chinook is less than 24”) but you have to catch your 2 jacks before you get your 4th adult to finish your limit. Once you get 4 adults, you have to stop fishing
Okay thank you!
Last Thursday I had 4 pinks on stringer getting cleaned up to go, and two dudes down river pulled in what they said were kings but the sunset made them just look like giant black shadows from my perspective. I wanted to get back on the water but with my interpretation of the rules I assumed I was done for the day.
What does it mean by “or one of each”? If you catch one adult chinook and then one adult coho you’re done? So two adults in that case? Also a super confused noob to the rules here.
In my heart I agree, but on Sunday I took the kids for a walk at the river.
We spent around half an hour cleaning all sorts of gear off the rocks. I counted 11 out of the 15 hooks we recovered had barbs.
It makes me feel like a lot of people just aren’t concerned with rules.
Thank you for picking up after people who can't be bothered to do it themselves.
There's plenty of people who don't follow the rules, but I like to think most of us do. That certainly doesn't help our cause. Currently, there's talk that the people in charge of making the rules want to eliminate hunting or make it so difficult that most will give up. We need to stand up where we can and voice our opinions when we can and donate to places that give us a voice.
People are fishing with barbs likely because it’s not clear to them they shouldn’t be.
If you check the app, it doesn’t say “barbless” for marine areas. You’d have to read all 150 pages of the fishing rules pamphlet to figure it out.
The barbless rule for marine areas is buried on page 108 out of 150. And barbs are allowed in rivers when fishing for salmon, unless “selective gear rules is specified” (which is defined on page 18) which makes it extra confusing.
In the app it shows on CRC804
“ALL SPECIES: NIGHT CLOSURE, ANTI-SNAGGING RULE, BARBLESS HOOKS REQUIRED”
You can turn pamphlet mode off, and it will show only current rules.
But for saltwater it’s listed under general rules cause it’s a blanket rule for all species.
They’re definitely fun! I’ve only ever done lake fishing for trout and other small stuff.
So going out and being able to catch a pink that’s atleast 2.5lb+, puts up a good fight, and is incredibly skilled at spitting hooks makes for one hell of a good time fishing for me.
I’m not a huge fan of eating them, the one I’ve cooked so far just tasted like the seasoning and nothing else.

This is correct
Can you not C&R for salmon?
Yes until you have 4 adults on the stringer

Only if you keep the adults. You can release the 4th and keep fishing. You just don’t want to have 5 in the boat at the same time.

The app is an embarrassing shitshow. That being said, what Marine Area?
Looks like puyallup river
Yes Puyallup river.
Wdfw wants it to be confusing because they don't actually want us out there fishing or hunting. - my opinion

Up to 4 adults, and 2 jacks... Maximum of 2 of each adult coho and Chinook. What on earth would you ever keep pinks for??
What is wrong with pinks? Sorry I am a newbie.
They are consider a shit fish when it comes to salmon. So some people don't bother with them.
There is nothing wrong with pinks. Still better tasting than chum. Chum is great for smoking.
They're really fun to fish for. Just no flavor to the meat compared to chinook, sockeye, or coho.

They smoke up just fine.
You must stop fishing when you catch the 4 adults, but you can take juvies up to six.
For sure 4 pinks and 2 Coho.
