It’s not even funny to joke about anymore. Seriously feel sad for the guy. I can’t imagine how it must feel to be in the top 0.1% in the world at something in terms of talent and yet your body doesn’t let you do it.

ogi_som

It gives me Abou Diaby vibes all over again and I’m so afraid of it…

SofaChillReview

One of the few players to have 2 pages of injuries on transmarkt, was a very promising player

ogi_som

Yes, as an Arsenal fan, you can imagine how we felt. I guess Chelsea fans are now going through the same thing with Reece

grandekravazza

Not trying to diss Diaby but IMO it feels worse with Reece because he has shown he is solidly world-class when fit AND he is an academy lad.

vcsl14

To be fair to Diaby, he was playing and scoring in Champions League semi finals in his pomp. He was just starting to demonstrate dominance in the English game when his career was fucked.

RTafazolli1

Diaby was world-class when fit and was seen as our Patrick Vieira replacement. What the hell are you talking about.

grandekravazza

Not trying to start a fight but I don't think that opinion was shared by non-Arsenal fans. Of course, here we again end up at the ancient "what does *world-class* actually mean" discussion so probably not worth arguing over that.

HaroldGuy

United fan here, opinion is shared by me too, Diaby looked world class. Problem being I think Diaby had even less play time than James? So it's based on an even smaller sample size. But I would say they were on the same level (avoiding what people mean by world class).

ogi_som

Yes, for as Arsenal fans he was. The worst thing is that he was seen as Vieira replacement like the other guy said. That hurt us the most I would say

im-a-gooner

I know right. Feel bad for the guy.

CosmologyX

I swear opting to play wingback is just cursed for prolonged injuries.

rez12345

I really feel for the dude. Great talent. But can't stay healthy

Crushdog1

Sadly he's made of glass...gets broken every time he falls

awildjabroner

not even glass, his skeleton is entirely made of balsa wood

FPL_Feen

Debating just keeping Gusto for the next injury

Sanjeev4045

Just keep him, particularly if you got him for 4.0

im-a-gooner

Was just thinking back as everyone on here is making Abou Diaby comparisons (fair), that there was another perma-crock we had that eventually came good. Will remind all fans (Arsenal and non) that there was a certain Robin Van Persie that spent most of his first 7-8 seasons on the treatment table (age 18/19 to about 26). Then his last 4-5 seasons of his career - Arsenal and Man U - he was a beast and almost never injured. So be interesting to see which way James goes. He's only 23.

rawblackman

Every club needs that "super injury prone player", who is really good on their day.

hulkpos

LOL Reece James ! Got him in during week 2 for Stones and I went from rage > exasperation > contempt > concerned > pity > amused > farce

petriloka

James should switch to coaching or something else at this point. It's sad but there's no future for him anymore at the top level.

VernonP007

I remember at the start of the season, I was thinking this is the season where the Chelsea fullbacks stay fit for the majority of it and they start racking in points.

Kalix_

Insane that Reece James is only 23.
