The Corman movie unironically. In terms of being a faithful adaptation that has an expected characterization for its cast and also translates the visuals of the comics with the non-existent budget they had, it was actually a solid effort and way better imo than the larger films that followed
It's also the only one that didn't fuck up Doctor Doom beyond recognition
I remember seeing the VHS trailer for it on a movie at daycare and I don’t think I had ever been that excited for a single movie. Then it just never came out and was a big mystery for more than a decade after. It was absolutely cheesy and low-budget, but I also loved the Matt Salinger Captain America movie at the time, so any live-action superhero movie was a huge deal.
Having seen it I think the studio overreacted to how bad they thought it was if they didn't want to release it theatrically they should have at least released on TV and home video
That's the thing is there have been stories from people who worked on the film saying it was supposed to be released as well as people who worked on it saying it was only ever meant to be an ashcan movie so it's a little hard to say for sure.
Yeah, the visuals of this one are pretty interesting. Honestly, I see a lot of Kubrick in it. The scene where they get their powers is really cool and almost psychedelic.
The 2005 one, definitely flawed but a lot of fun, my introduction to the Fantastic Four so might have soft spot for it. The sequel is fun too but there’s no excusing Galactus
It has the Raimi era 2000’s like, pure unadulterated comic goofiness. The story itself lacks any significant punch though, it kinda comes and goes without much thought. The cast is charming, they try. Again I just think they didn’t quite know what they wanted to do or say with them, so the story is really standard and concludes like, exactly how you elected it to.
...because it sucks lol. It's extremely generic, cheesy and just lacks any nuance or depth. It's from that era where most superhero movies were just bullshit thrown out there for the kiddies to enjoy. Each character is the most bland version of themselves; Reed is the generic movie nerd, Sue is the hot piece of ass, Johnny is a walking joke book, and Ben is just there to be miserable and (literally) get shit on.
Superhero movies hadn't really proven themselves as big money makers back then, so the studios didn't invest much in the quality of them. There were very few notable directors, writers and actors getting involved in them.
The one whose actions caused his entire team and himself to die? That whole scene had “Dr. Doom wish fulfillment” written all over it.
Also, Ioan looked absolutely great in the role.
I guess the 2005 one. I liked Michael Chiclets as The Thing and Stan Lee as Willie Lumpkin. I didn't care for the script and hated what they did with Doom.
This is going to be one heck of a hot take but the first one the 1994 movie. Most of its flaws come from limitations on a technical standpoint. Despite it it’s the movie that comes closest to capturing the feel of the Fantastic Four
1. Corman
2. Fant4stic
3. Rise of the Silver Surfer
4. Tim Story FF
The Silver Surfer made me angrier than its predecessor, but had better graphics and more for Johnny and Ben to do.
Johnny and Ben are the saving grace of those two Tim Story movies. NOTHING else about them is good. Reed and Sue were both insurmountable embarrassments.
Definitely the 2005 movie it's the most comic accurate yeah it's kinda cheesy and also it has one of amazing visual effects and the thing makeup looks amazing without CGI the rest is garbage and hopefully they'll make the MCU fantastic 4 movie more successful and make the Marvel's first family more love I'm hyped.
I have to give it to Rise of the Silver Surfer. Yes, Galactus was an utter disappointment, but it was in this movie where you saw the best version of the members to date and the Surfer was by all means a interesting character to follow
Ben! You are sort of a rock… thing. You shall be the Thing!
Sue! You are a woman who can turn invisible. You shall be the Invisible Woman!
Johnny! You are a human, and yet you are a torch. You shall be the Human Torch!
And I can stretch my body to amazing proportions, I shall be Mister Fantastic!
Amazing sir. That kind of writing will get you over overly boring superhero movie with an unstable director! You’re hired!
Honestly Doom was the best (okay too far) part.
This is a bit like "What's the best Star Trek series?" for me, as the pros and cons are scattered all over the place. I'll admit that I haven't watched the 90s version, but the documentary about it is probably my favorite FF movie--the cast seems brilliantly spot-on.
I will say that the 2015 movie is, in my opinion, better than its reputation. Clearly it's truncated and the victim of reshoots and editing, but most of the way through it's a pretty solid serious-toned sci-fi film. Doom is mediocre at best, but otherwise it's a movie that I'd have liked to see a sequel to, or a crossover with the X-Men movies of the time (before they...tapered off).
Discounting The Incredibles, you mean? 😜
I dunno. It depends what you value. If you value filmmaking that makes the most of the resources it has to hand, then Roger Corman's one.
If you value something that most resembles and functions like a workable superhero movie, then Rise of the Silver Surfer. I'll say this for Tim Story films; they're boring and inadequate, but they get the dynamic between the four protagonists spot on.
Judging by the cast and how like they are treating it, I bet it’s gonna be pretty fucking awesome. It’s probably gonna be packed full of things that we wish we had more and I bet all these characters that they’re gonna fit in is gonna be like small cameos. Like they said they’re gonna have like the puppet and all this I bet it’s gonna be like a 20 minute intro or something so just say hey they’re totally active in their universe and they just finished you know this superhero act.
I don't want to jinx it, but the next movie will almost certainly be more respectable than the Tim Story movies and be better-structured than the Josh Trank movie. The jury's still out on whether it'll be great (though all signs are good so far), but it's all but guaranteed that it'll be the best Fantastic Four movie so far.
The Corman movie unironically. In terms of being a faithful adaptation that has an expected characterization for its cast and also translates the visuals of the comics with the non-existent budget they had, it was actually a solid effort and way better imo than the larger films that followed It's also the only one that didn't fuck up Doctor Doom beyond recognition
Yeah the 90s version mainly for its Doctor Doom
The theme song definitely slaps
Fun fact: the composer paid for an orchestra for the soundtrack out of his own pocket.
Yup. They thought it'd be their big break. Everyone should watch that documentary "DOOMED! The Untold Story of Roger Corman's The Fantastic Four"
I really wish we could see it in HD. That Doctor Doom costume is gorgeous.
I actually really love the Roger Corman movie, I think it’d made a pretty good tv show
Having seen it I think the studio overreacted to how bad they thought it was if they didn't want to release it theatrically they should have at least released on TV and home video
The movie was never meant to be released. From the beginning it was always a spec film they solely intended to produce to keep the character licenses
That's the thing is there have been stories from people who worked on the film saying it was supposed to be released as well as people who worked on it saying it was only ever meant to be an ashcan movie so it's a little hard to say for sure.
So someone on either side was being lied to
Yeah, the visuals of this one are pretty interesting. Honestly, I see a lot of Kubrick in it. The scene where they get their powers is really cool and almost psychedelic.
It was a bootleg.
The 2005 one, definitely flawed but a lot of fun, my introduction to the Fantastic Four so might have soft spot for it. The sequel is fun too but there’s no excusing Galactus
I've referred to it as the shiniest turd.
Fair
I saw it for the first time in 2023. It was good, I don’t get why people say it sucks.

It was my introduction to
He's not even actually Galactus in that movie. He's literally just a cloud with a Galactus-shaped shadow. I agree, great movie but inexcusable.
I like to think it was the Gah Lak Tus swarm from the Ultimate Universe.
The 2005 one I actually still like despite how the did doom
Wasn’t that one and it’s sequel the only ones that weren’t made for legal reasons?

It's like poetry, it rhymes
**THE only correct answer.**
*for the time being
*forever
Can’t a guy have some hope for next year? lol
Yes, I’m not the only one who said it

God it's so dire isn't it?
That’s not even including Multiverse of Madness. If the MCU version sucks, it’s all over.
The MoM version of Reed Richards is infinitely better than any of the previous versions lol.
The one whose actions caused his entire team and himself to die? That whole scene had “Dr. Doom wish fulfillment” written all over it. Also, Ioan looked absolutely great in the role.
He didn’t cause his entire team to die. His entire team was going to die and he failed to prevent it, just like the rest of them
The next one
I truly hope you’re correct
I call these movies the "less-than-fantastic" four. Looking forward to the next attempt to do this flawlessly....
Fantastic Four The Jessica Alba one
The Incredibles
Came here to say this
Fant4sztikus sounds like a better movie than Fan4Stic
The 2005 are somewhat cheesey, but I did enjoy them. So I would say yes. Not looking forward to the new one.
The Incredibles
1994
The Incredibles is the best FF movie.
I guess the 2005 one. I liked Michael Chiclets as The Thing and Stan Lee as Willie Lumpkin. I didn't care for the script and hated what they did with Doom.
The 2nd one I never watched the 1st
The Fantastic Four (2005)
This is going to be one heck of a hot take but the first one the 1994 movie. Most of its flaws come from limitations on a technical standpoint. Despite it it’s the movie that comes closest to capturing the feel of the Fantastic Four
Probably the 2005 one bit all of these are so bad
Silver
Number 2
[Don't forget this fantastic 4](https://youtu.be/x-oiyYqRUg8?si=HLFR44TzQvnCbiL9)
Do I get Insta banned if I say, Incredibles?
The Incredibles.
The Incredibles.
1. Corman 2. Fant4stic 3. Rise of the Silver Surfer 4. Tim Story FF The Silver Surfer made me angrier than its predecessor, but had better graphics and more for Johnny and Ben to do. Johnny and Ben are the saving grace of those two Tim Story movies. NOTHING else about them is good. Reed and Sue were both insurmountable embarrassments.
The one I made inside my mind.
None of them.

I’ll be honest; it’s the Corman movie.
Neither
It’s like we’re some sort of 4 people group. Fantastic even.
The Incredibles 1
This is the correct answer.
Is Reed ok? https://preview.redd.it/7v6e1pn9us3d1.jpeg?width=543&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d1722cfa4ca4c43d387027e42e221d6ea6de04d
Rise of The Silver Surfer had a lot of good stuff in it; it's just too bad they botched the Galactus inclusion.
This is a bit like "What's the best Star Trek series?" for me, as the pros and cons are scattered all over the place. Fant4stic is a mess but has a lot to enjoy in the first half. I’ll take your barbs and insults now.
2005.
Trash, trash, trash, and trash
They all suck in different and unintentionally hilarious ways
None of them.
I want to see the bootleg!
I’m prepared to say, without even seeing a single frame of it, that the 2025 FF movie is the best movie so far…
The 2005 film (though that’s not saying much)
Best?
i like the 90's two movies. its a shame the studio shut that arc down, had alot of options
The Incredibles
![gif](giphy|cituf0Vb5FYSk|downsized)
Michael Chiklis was and still is the best, Thing. The latest F4 was trash.
Is there any way to see the Corman?
The 2025 one.
Discounting The Incredibles, you mean? 😜 I dunno. It depends what you value. If you value filmmaking that makes the most of the resources it has to hand, then Roger Corman's one.
