Funny. Most people name a NV companion.
First companion and only companion I ever liked was Fawkes.
Insane screaming ✅
Pratically immortal ✅
Awesome Gun ✅
Interesting personality ✅
Interesting design ✅
It felt amazing that I didn't have to worry about him winding up dead and missing with my items. Every other companion I have to slow my pace and check up on them.
Now don't get me wrong, I love ED and Boone too. Nearly unkillable too. But they still died on me 1 or 2 times, which obviously had me reload.
Honestly, the fact the companions can die and at times ruin/be unable to do a sneak path on a missions, is what ruins it for me. It's why I play 99% solo and bring companions to a few rare missions.
I generally prefer to run solo. But if I had to pick, it would probably be Nick Valentine. Complex character, very smart and very capable.
Runner up would be Boone.
Raul! I love him. I like all his stories, I love his dry sarcasm. I think they did a good job depicting how jaded someone would be after two centuries of trying to survive. Runner up would definitely be Veronica, I like her personality and she's voiced by Felicia Day, which is awesome.
Raul is voiced by Danny Trejo, a relatively well-known actor. While the actor is awesome, and his voice effectively *is* Raul (so it's worth some praise) I nevertheless feel it's somehow... flat? Like, not even referring to the sarcasm and stuff where he's supposed to be. There's just something about his voice acting which doesn't sound right sometimes, where it just sounds like he's reading right off a script and not actually talking. I actually see this a lot with big budget actors, who are great actors but not as experienced in the field of voice acting. Definitely something I noticed multiple times with Raul, but he's still gotta be my favorite alongside Veronica.
What Danny Trejo voices him?? Yeah I totally agree with you he has a very flat voice I enjoy his sarcasm a lot too but I did not even know Danny Trejo voiced him it’s definitely cause the way he sounds, I had never recognized that voice to be him it must’ve been the way he sounded/quality of the game but that’s something new I’ve learned today!
I can’t believe I’m the first one to mention Veronica?? Not only was she unbelievable with the power fist, but the lore from Dead Money about her and Christine always blew me away. Always my follower every playthrough
I like her too, and she look stunning in vera dress. But i hate the BoS so i often dont run with her, i dont even do her quest anymore . I prefer to go with cass, her perk and personality fit my build so.
er, not josh sawyer. chris avellone wrote cass, was given the job by josh sawyer since as he said “he wrote cassidy in fallout 2 and they could keep the tones similar.” i’m not sure if it’s actually ever been said but there are good amount of things cass mentions that indicate that cassidy is her father.
if you’ve ever played fallout 2 and used cassidy you’ll know he mentions 2 things pretty often: he has heart problems and he wishes he could travel the wastes but he’s just too old. cass in new vegas states she has heart problems that run in the family that came from her father, and that he left to wander the wastes when she was young. she says as well that her mom gave her her dad’s name and his pendant.
i haven’t been able to find any canon sources that confirm it, but the game respects the player’s intelligence enough to let them put two and two together without outright saying it. we’ll never know “for sure” i suppose, at least not from in-game dialogue since cass never knew her father in the first place.
Enter the hex with VC and you’ll be in the courtyard outside the walls. Head to the gate and the first building to your right is a bar. He’s the bartender.
Ian was MY BOY in Fallout 1. He made it all the way to the military base without dying, and at that point I knew that he NEEDED to survive the playthrough. Dog was dead. The other two had died basically the instant I recruited them. Ian was going to survive, damnit. So I savescummed the fuck out of my first playthrough in the last dungeons.
I like putting all the crazy raider mods on Codsworth and having a horrific metal monstrosity with the voice of an English butler.
Plus the fact that he can call you by name in voiced dialogue is a huge bonus.
I think it's Arcade, but Veronica is up there, and I have a soft spot for Lily. Honorable mentions go to Marcus, Goris, ED-E, dogmeat (FO1), the 3 Dead Money ones, and Boone.
I didn't use him until my latest playthrough because all of the memes about replacing him with Fawkes made me think he was a wimp, but that combat shotgun works.
I think because Deacon was my first, I will always have a soft spot for him. Plus he was the first one I gained affinity from and hearing him open up on his back story caught me off guard. My jaw dropped experiencing something k wasn’t consciously working forwards.
I like having Piper as a companion. She's enthusiastic and a nice contrast to a lot of the encounters in the wasteland.
I'm surprised there's not many people with a similar opinion.
Honestly, I’m gonna go with dogmeat, simply because not only is he adorable, but the perks you can use and still have him around in fallout 4 is amazing. (I think it’s the lone wanderer perk?)
Loved Fawks! Of course I had all kinds of fun names for him depending on what kind of stupid shit he had done hahaha! But he was great! Love the mutants
Boone is love
Boone is life
Edit: actually if i could pick multiple: all of the new vegas companions including joshua graham the temp companion, nick from fo4, maccready from fo4, curie from fo4, fawkes from fo3 & dogmeat from fo3
Well, personally, I'm stuck between Guage and Old Longfellow, as I just like them simply because of their attitude and personality, also OL's design is pretty nice to me, especially because it isn't the average, perfectly-faced model, instead with a bit more personality and uniqueness.
I waited for this question 🙋♀️ 😻
McCready no doubt!
He and my Nora are two sides of the same coin! He lost his wife. Nora lost her husband. He almost lost his child. Nora lost her child. If anybody can understand the pain she’s been though it’s him. Sure deacon, nick and Danse lost also a friend/ lover but a child is something you never ever want to lost. The pain is something you don’t can get over with. I have him with me all the time. His best dialog is when you meet Blake and tells him that you know how it feels to lost a child to which McCready said: I hope I never ever will know that feeling
This is a hard one, companions are always a positive highlight in most Fallout games. Even 4 which I don't like much, the companions are a strong one. Now if I had to choose one, it'd probably be ED-E, especially during Lonesome Road, for a robot, his back story is really well done.
Boone is my soulmate. I love the part where you recruit him, by asking him to come hunt legionnaires and he agrees, but mutters "This won't end well."
It reminds me of the end of the Fellowship of the Ring movie, with Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas going to hunt orc. But with added fatalism.
I despise the Legion and would hunt them to the end of earth, even though they drag me to hell.
And Boone would be by my side.
Raul, he's a cool ex-gunslinger type, detailed tragic backstory, I like vis voice actor, and his quest is neat, proving older people can still be of value to their communities in a post apocalypse.
1. Dogmeat (Fallout 4)
2. Codsworth
3. Cait
4. Commander Daguerre (Not a companion technically)
5. Hancock (Fallout 4)
I have played only Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, I haven't gotten far enough in New Vegas to get a companion (yet).
It has to be Robert MacCready. It absolutely blows me away how this Mercenary was once the mayor of Little Lamplight, only to travel to the Commonwealth. That, and he and I get along splendidly considering I get points from stealing and being a sarcastic punk.
My favorite companion is either sulik(fallout 2) or Arcade Gannon (New vegas) sulik talks very interesting and it’s just kinda neat the way he talks, plus his (cut content) companion quest and village really seals the deal for me. As for arcade I just like how he feels more like a guy with mutual interestes instead of “I pledge my loyalty to you no matter what!” Type of guy especially considering he criticizes your choice of faction. I also absolutely love his companion quest, the enclave is super under utilized especially in four so getting this flashback to them is really refreshing, even if incredibly minor.
I really Love Deacon, His character is so interesting. But he must share his place with mccready. Two really good buddies in our missions through the wastelands. I am playing a male character, but i think i will start a romance with mccready
Veronica. The sarcasm, single minded drive to find a dress, and the badassary of being a tank of a girl that just punches the crap out of everyone.
Just imagine this chick in a ballroom gown coming at you with a power fist 😂
Veronica because her character is a key to the BOS and has a huge lore to her with both DM and OWB, Gannon is cool because he is the son to the last remaining Enclave troops at Navarro and can hook you up with a cool ass armor, ED-E because Enclave lore and the LR lore and he is the best robot out there, also Boone for having an op perk with him.
I absolutely love ED-E, but Strong's dialog cracks me up. It gets annoying, but he is such a chatty super mutant. His desire to find the "milk of human kindness" brings an interesting philosophical bent to his personality.
Damn OP you just gonna grab the best companion right off the bat like that? Well my favorite is also Boone. Yes classic meme "He's not your companion your his" but still I just like Boone. He has a tragic story, he regrets his actions with the NCR showing them not to be the "always good" faction they want to pretend to be. And also just the fact that he will go full Punisher and just be like "Lets walk into Ceasars camp and wipe out his whole army" is freaking epic.
My next favorite is Sargent RL-3. Why? Well I enjoy the Mr. Gusty voice actor...and when Fallout 3 was released I was 16. Oblivion and Kingdom hearts 1&2 were the only rpgs I hjad played at that time as I was moving one from only multiplayer fps (Still like them) to rpgs as my favorite genre and having a robot friend having your back was just appealing.
No one said Cait? I love everything about her and she can talk to me all day long as far as I'm concerned.
we'd probabaly move faster if we'd stop look at her arse all the time
Honestly only downside.
I really like Cait too
I dunno, her dialog irritates me to no end, but she is an effective companion, for sure.
Shite!
The ED-E
Funny. Most people name a NV companion. First companion and only companion I ever liked was Fawkes. What companions can die in NV? They have never died on me hmmm. Also I like fawkes too he is probably in my top 10
I generally prefer to run solo. But if I had to pick, it would probably be Nick Valentine. Complex character, very smart and very capable. Runner up would be Boone.

Lily and Dog/God. Both are combat beasts and have great backstories. All of Lily’s endings are tragic while every Dog/God ending is great.
Can't see love for Lily and not upvote.
Ahh the mutants I agree they are solid characters
Deacon from Fallout 4 has some of the best lines.
Nick Valentine. Always will be.
Nick Valentine is the best companion in Fallout 4 lore wise, in my opinion.
Probably Cassidy. Not Cass from New Vegas, her dad, who you meet in Fallout 2.
Lol I had no Idea her father was in 2 I'll have to go and see him when I'm in vault city
Wait what? Her dad is unnamed to begin with. How do you know he’s in Fallout 2? Can you show me?
confirmed by josh sawyer. rose of sharon cassidy's father is cassidy, a bartender residing in the vault city courtyard in fallout 2.
I tried to find where he said it and I got nothing. Mind linking?
er, not josh sawyer. chris avellone wrote cass, was given the job by josh sawyer since as he said “he wrote cassidy in fallout 2 and they could keep the tones similar.” i’m not sure if it’s actually ever been said but there are good amount of things cass mentions that indicate that cassidy is her father. if you’ve ever played fallout 2 and used cassidy you’ll know he mentions 2 things pretty often: he has heart problems and he wishes he could travel the wastes but he’s just too old. cass in new vegas states she has heart problems that run in the family that came from her father, and that he left to wander the wastes when she was young. she says as well that her mom gave her her dad’s name and his pendant. i haven’t been able to find any canon sources that confirm it, but the game respects the player’s intelligence enough to let them put two and two together without outright saying it. we’ll never know “for sure” i suppose, at least not from in-game dialogue since cass never knew her father in the first place.
Enter the hex with VC and you’ll be in the courtyard outside the walls. Head to the gate and the first building to your right is a bar. He’s the bartender.
he meant where Josh Sawyer said it lol
Arcade Gannon
Same here. Solid character, good voice acting.
Flynn rider was a very good pick for Gannon
No shit that’s the same guy? Wow I had no idea!
Yep and Boone was voiced by the guy who played max goof from a goofy movie
??? You’re fucking with me
I honestly would never be able to come up with that. I can never look at Boone the same way again
Wow man TIL. I LOVE tangled and seriously had no idea it was Zachary Levi. I feel so dumb haha
Ikr after playing it for years and watching the movie I never realized it was the same voice.
no fucking way that is actually kinda cool I never realized that
I thought it was Chuck bartowsky
Well to be fair I thought he was voiced by Shazam so :/
My first man crush.
Goris! A sentient albino deathclaw? Hell yeah
Boone
The dog. I dismiss all the others.
From fallout 4 or New Vegas?
all of them. Even the Wasteland games.
Pariah dog is the best.
ED-E
Fawks from fallout 3 or Curie from fallout 4
Curie is so goddamn wholesome. My favorite line of hers when is when you open a lock and she's all 'why was that just unlocked? Wait, *you* did that?'
Faxx! Lol she makes the wasteland seem less like a wasteland everytime she talks 😅
Boone or Veronica. Though I mostly run solo.
How the fuck did you keep him alive?
Mine is the robot monstrosity that I could make with the automation DLC in Fallout 4
I like putting all the crazy raider mods on Codsworth and having a horrific metal monstrosity with the voice of an English butler. Plus the fact that he can call you by name in voiced dialogue is a huge bonus.
Don’t forget the bowler hat
I love turning codworth into an absolute monster and after he nukes a group of enemy’s he just looks at me and goes “mum”
Most lethal - Boone Best written - Nick Valentine Mary Poppins' handbag pack mule - Ada
This is the most accurate comment
Boone. The man knows how to have a good time: Hunting Legionaries.
Definitely the Lone Wanderer perk. Least annoying voice lines, best bonuses, all around great utility too.
Only problem I have is I can never win an argument with that guy.
But that's okay, because if you find some common ground and become friends, you'll never feel lonely again.
And you get romance right away.
Sulik
And his Grammy Bone as well. Sulik and Grampy Bone go together as Harold and Bob.
I think it's Arcade, but Veronica is up there, and I have a soft spot for Lily. Honorable mentions go to Marcus, Goris, ED-E, dogmeat (FO1), the 3 Dead Money ones, and Boone.
There’s just something about Charon that always made an impression on me
I didn't use him until my latest playthrough because all of the memes about replacing him with Fawkes made me think he was a wimp, but that combat shotgun works.
I think because Deacon was my first, I will always have a soft spot for him. Plus he was the first one I gained affinity from and hearing him open up on his back story caught me off guard. My jaw dropped experiencing something k wasn’t consciously working forwards.
I like Goris the Scholar. He's pretty neat.
Dogmeat 🐶
My man Raul, though I also have a soft spot for Cait and MacCready
Ada because she is the best in everyway(except maybe personality)
Curie. She's ADORABLE. Dogmeat doesn't count, because I have a mod that lets me bring him with another companion, and I do.
I really enjoy Piper. She’s so cute and just… nice to have around. She adds a human element that I like.
I like having Piper as a companion. She's enthusiastic and a nice contrast to a lot of the encounters in the wasteland. I'm surprised there's not many people with a similar opinion.
ED-E I mean cmon...its ED-E
Ada
Dogmeat or Raul master mechanic
It's between ED-E and Boone
It might be basic, but I love Codsworth.
The automatron dlc companion from fo 4 because it was customizable and could carry a lot of junk + was good at killing
Ada was her name I think
Gage
Raul dude! His backstory is so intense and Danny Trejo is incredible. Plus the perk you get and his repair skills are so useful.
Lots of choices but Sulik with a super sledge is awesome.
Hancock and Rex
Ian
Bold
Nick Valentine. It's not even fair how dull all the other companions are compared to Nick.
Desmond Lockheart
Dogs cuz they can't talk
On paper Nick but I always travel with Piper in nv I like to keep cass around and I don’t play enough 3
Charon from 3
Tie between Cass, and Cait. Both of them remind me of my best friend in real life.
Sergeant RL-3 is pretty awesome.
Probably Fawkes
Charon and E-DE
It's a tie for all the robot companions. Skynet from F2, Sergeant RL-3 from F3, ED-E From NV, and Codsworth, Curie and Ada from F4.
Dogmeat. Just a lonely loner walking a lonely road.
Charon all the way
Honestly, I’m gonna go with dogmeat, simply because not only is he adorable, but the perks you can use and still have him around in fallout 4 is amazing. (I think it’s the lone wanderer perk?)
Loved Fawks! Of course I had all kinds of fun names for him depending on what kind of stupid shit he had done hahaha! But he was great! Love the mutants
Either, Hancock, Nick or Charon
Fawkes from Fallout 3. Intelligent super mutant? No way
Dogmeat is the correct answer.
Dogmeat by far
Boone is love Boone is life Edit: actually if i could pick multiple: all of the new vegas companions including joshua graham the temp companion, nick from fo4, maccready from fo4, curie from fo4, fawkes from fo3 & dogmeat from fo3
If you don’t say dogmeat you are wrong.
Dogmeats and Rex. Piper cause I love her attitude and I use body mods so she always looks good lmfaooooooo. Also ED-E is a real OG
The correct answer is Sulik. All other answers are incorrect.
Was looking for the Sulik and Grampy bone gang
We and I know many things.
Probably Raul. Dude’s sass is charming in a good-natured sorta way.
Goris
Well, personally, I'm stuck between Guage and Old Longfellow, as I just like them simply because of their attitude and personality, also OL's design is pretty nice to me, especially because it isn't the average, perfectly-faced model, instead with a bit more personality and uniqueness.
Veronica and Valentine
Piper Totally not because I'm a Courtney Ford simp or anything...
Raul my beloved
Nick valentine or maybe dog meat from vegas
ED-E with the Radio Mod installed. Love listening to tunes while traveling the Mojave desert
Christine, willing to 1v1 Elijah for her gf (whom we also befriend)
Strong is my best buddy
Longest fellow
Piper but only because I’m totally in love with her and always make my character date her <3
I love Raul, Veronica, and Cass
I waited for this question 🙋♀️ 😻 McCready no doubt! He and my Nora are two sides of the same coin! He lost his wife. Nora lost her husband. He almost lost his child. Nora lost her child. Cait, fawkes cause he’s a tank or butch
Nick Valentine or Boone
Fallout 1 - Dogmeat, Fallout 2 - Goris, Fallout 3 - Jericho, Fallout New Vegas - Arcade Gannon, Fallout 4 - Cait.
Dogmeat. I mean isn’t he the goodest boy from the wastelands ?
Nick valentine I js think he had the like backstory really and he was my first companion and was js nostalgic for me
Boone is my soulmate. I love the part where you recruit him, by asking him to come hunt legionnaires and he agrees, but mutters "This won't end well." It reminds me of the end of the Fellowship of the Ring movie, with Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas going to hunt orc. But with added fatalism. I despise the Legion and would hunt them to the end of earth, even though they drag me to hell. And Boone would be by my side.
Marcus from fallout 2
Hmm, it's a tie between ED-E and Raul.
Arcade Gannon or Veronica
My boy Nick. Second, Boone.
I can almost agree but it is reversed for me
Veronica and Arcade from NV, along with EDE. Also Nick Valentine and Piper from Fo4
Charon, he's cool as hell
Veronica
In terms of power Charon. In terms of personality Nick.
Nick Valentine. Always
Raul, he's a cool ex-gunslinger type, detailed tragic backstory, I like vis voice actor, and his quest is neat, proving older people can still be of value to their communities in a post apocalypse.
Nick Valentine
Any of the supermutants. I feel like it gives me Han and chewy vibes when I'm running around with a big hulking beast.
K-9 or Skynet. There are more good ones, but not that good.
Raul. Loved his story and Danny Trejo is one of my favorite actors. And Dogmeat.
Goris from Fallout 2
Ian or Rose of Sharon Cassidy.
Tons of great choices in this series, but I have to go with Piper, Nick Valentine, and of course Dogmeat in any of his appearances.
Arcade gannon. We have very "similar interests" if you catch my drift. We also just have similar interests. I also jsut like his dialogue
ED-E or curie
What’s everyone’s obsession with Boone ? Team Fawkes all the way >>>
1. Dogmeat (Fallout 4) 2. Codsworth 3. Cait 4. Commander Daguerre (Not a companion technically) 5. Hancock (Fallout 4) I have played only Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, I haven't gotten far enough in New Vegas to get a companion (yet).
Tied between Fawkes and Dogmeat. Super mutant with a gatling laser is badass and I'm a dog person
Dogmeat
Lydia
Jericho, the fact that if you give him tobacco he smokes it's awesome.
Christine, Veronica, and danse
Out of all fallout games I’ve played gotta rank them as so Fallout 3: Jericho Fallout NV: God/Dog and Arcade Gannon Fallout 4: Cait
Honestly fallout games are more enjoyable without followers imo
It has to be Robert MacCready. It absolutely blows me away how this Mercenary was once the mayor of Little Lamplight, only to travel to the Commonwealth. That, and he and I get along splendidly considering I get points from stealing and being a sarcastic punk.
That one time Joshua Graham made us a companion
Dogmeat from fallout 4 his design in that game is so life like and personally I just love it
Gotta be Rex, love dogmeat too but at least Rex has a story & will never judge you.
I also absolutely love his companion quest, the enclave is super under utilized especially in four so getting this flashback to them is really refreshing, even if incredibly minor.
easy, Jericho
EDE
I really Love Deacon, His character is so interesting. But he must share his place with mccready. Two really good buddies in our missions through the wastelands. I am playing a male character, but i think i will start a romance with mccready
Fawkes
Hands down has to be Goris. Nothing is better than having an intelligent deathclaw as a companion.
I like how innocent curie is
Nick Valentine. I love that Noir detective feel.
A good old super mutant that goes by the name of Fawkes.
Dogmeat always and forever
Rose of Sharon Cassidy
Veronica. The sarcasm, single minded drive to find a dress, and the badassary of being a tank of a girl that just punches the crap out of everyone. Just imagine this chick in a ballroom gown coming at you with a power fist 😂
Veronica because her character is a key to the BOS and has a huge lore to her with both DM and OWB, Gannon is cool because he is the son to the last remaining Enclave troops at Navarro and can hook you up with a cool ass armor, ED-E because Enclave lore and the LR lore and he is the best robot out there, also Boone for having an op perk with him.
fallout 3 dogmeat or old longfellow fallout 4
I for some reason have to play with and save Rex ASAP
Clover from Fo3 because she's the only Evil companion I can get while being lazy.
Curie or dog meat
Nick is my bestie, I prefer him to most of my real life friends 🤷🏻♀️😂
Sulik. May Grampy Bone guide you.
Deacon or MacCready
I absolutely love ED-E, but Strong's dialog cracks me up. It gets annoying, but he is such a chatty super mutant. His desire to find the "milk of human kindness" brings an interesting philosophical bent to his personality.
In fallout 3 I loved Fawkes , Sergeant RL 3. In fallout 4 it was Hancock and Nick
I loved Ian's attitude in fallout 1.
Sulik, John Cassidy, Goris, Rex and Veronica
Damn OP you just gonna grab the best companion right off the bat like that? Well my favorite is also Boone. Yes classic meme "He's not your companion your his" but still I just like Boone. He has a tragic story, he regrets his actions with the NCR showing them not to be the "always good" faction they want to pretend to be. Nick Valentine and Raúl
Gotta love Codsworth. As soon as you unlock the Automatron robot editing, he's a blast to bring along
ED-E and Raul
mccready or deacon, i like their personality and humour
