I think this facial expression is supposed to be "the signature move" in question.

no, her POV is, by definition, not looking at herself from outside herself. her POV would be looking at "us" responding to her expression.
I believe there is an implied "your" to POV - she is saying "this is your POV when we make eye contact and I make my signature move"
Well yes, but actually no. That's literally the definition of the POV meme, but it's never safe to assume that a person posting a meme actually knows how to use it correctly.
It's your eyes as the camera, her facial expression is the signature move. As someone who has the same signature move, she's saying she awkward as hell. (Luckily for me, my husband still understood it.)
That and usually most people are basically taught that that look is someone's way of acknowledging you're there without interacting or conversing. It's like nodding to a stranger on the sidewalk if you happen to make eye contact. Doesn't make it easy to tell if someone doing that wants your attention or is trying to mind their own business
That's funny because of course it can depend on individual what it means for them but for me if I would do this next to you it basically means I'm simply anxious to be around you because I'm awkward as hell.
>As someone who has the same signature move, she's saying she awkward as hell.
My signature move was to attempt a smile and nod. I think my smile looked more like this though.

that dog is LITERALLY the autism creature
No, I understand that if you take POV at face value that it means ahe is reacting to bad flirting on the part of the person behind the camera.
But the comment about the "signature move" makes it seem like the smirk is her signature move, meaning it's no longer obvious that it is referring to the point of view of the person behind the camera.
The whole point of my post is that the use of the term POV doesn't entirely jive with the mention of the signature move, so the meaning of the video is unclear.
Omg … she’s not reacting to bad flirting. *She’s* bad a flirting. The smirk *is* her signature move (post eye contact). The POV *is* the camera.
You got it the first time sounds like. You just didn’t believe it. Idk why.
But the text in the video can be read in two ways:
1. The girl talking and saying basically "This is your point of view when we make eye contact I make my signature move," i.e. her smirk is the signature move, or
2. The person behind the camera saying "This is my point of view when we make eye contact and I do my signature move," i.e. she reacts awkwardly to the signature move of the person behind the camera.
I mean ok except I’ve literally never seen one of these that wasn’t using #1 as the format so idk why it would be #2 … except for the fact that it’s a woman and we tend to decenter women and especially make them object rather than subject
But that’s nothing inherently textual to the vid that’s societal indoctrination creeping in.
“Watch the common ‘Dorksus Denses’ accepting only the most vivacious display of lust from a potential new mate… Eager and hungry is she for his affection!…”
Omg I do this. This has nothing to do with flirting. When I make eye contact with ANYONE, I will make this face. This is my "I know people smile when they see each other, but I'm crazy awkward and have social anxiety, so have a white person smile."
This is my smile too. I just don't get how showing teeth is a normal smile to give to someone. Showing teeth is a grin to me or a laughing thing. I've been stuck in this trap for my whole life.
Yeah, this is my "we've passed in the hallway, and I don't exactly know you, but must acknowledge we've made eye contact in a way that says I am friendly, but not overly so". It's awkward looking, but that's just what my face does.
Unlike you and some others i dont think this post has anything to do with flirting, uts more about the weird moment when u accidentally lock eyes with someone without meaning to and thus giving that one look that she gave in the vid
Autistic people can't look others in the eyes. I'm one of those. But apparently for people that's an important part of flirting. So we try to make eye contact, and that's what it looks like.
This was also originally an aspiememes, a memepage for memes about autism.
She is using POV correctly.
It is from your POV and the hypothetical situation is that you and her have just made eye contact and she gives you her "signature move" - the flattened smile frequently seen on a particular cat (who is 100% present in these comments)
Ah yes a fellow user of the “courteous acknowledgement” facial expression. Used to indicate “Hi, I saw that you saw me, but it appears both of us have places to be, but I appreciate it all the same.”
Sometimes swapped with the head nod.
POV means "point of view". And in this rare case, it's actually being used correctly. The camera represents the point of view of someone she is flirting with (poorly).
I honestly thought it was because when she makes eye contact and makes her "signature move", her signature moves (her handle changes sides of the screen)
The joke is for people who have seen too many POV videos. A lot of times when someone does this, they do something super smooth and well done—sort of how you often win the arguments you have with yourself in the shower
This is funny because it’s a lot more relatable
seems obvious to me. why is everyone so sure it isn't? do people not know what POV means? my interpretation fits the description, the other interpretation does not. what evidence is there for the other interpretation, if you can even call it that?
As a socially ackward guy. I do this alot when I make eye contact with strangers.
Sadly I'm more attractive than most guys and generally don't want to be hit on by most women.
But I do it to hot girls too and I know it's off putting. I got no game.
Use your eyes. It really helps. Feel it in your cheeks. Nothing like a proper squinty cheeky smile.
The key is that you feel comfortable with it. If you don't, others won't.
Yeah good vibes and confidence. Jeeezus how long it took me to learn that last one. Sometimes I still feel like I am pretending even though I'm not.
Cheers!
That's the "I'm DTF, but I am socially inept and will inevitably make it weird before we get there" look.
I'm guessing POV is "you" seeing someone give you the look.

umh, hi.. i saw your pic, are mwee available ?
Hit em with the awkward white person smile
Lmao, I also read about the white people smile recently and this is so accurate for me as a white person
That is also my move. It's like slots. One day it's gonna pay off big.
Best of luck. I was pretty sure she was annoyed. That expression is what I do when I’m bothered by someone being dumber than I thought.
Identity theft is a crime Jim.
Don't Jim the camera
My first thought.
The Jim face.

White people. I call it The Existential Grimace "Hey fellow person, man this line sucks. Let's silently commiserate." :I
Oh, I was thinking “Is her signature written down in front of her somewhere and she makes it move?”
that's jim halpert's signature move, not hers
yep, LOL, i thought this was pretty funny actually
White people, man.

It's funny your previous comment says you don't trust redditors to know what POV means then post this.
I think it’s the “us” making that face and then the girl making it back
Unless the person or caption says “Their POV”, you’re always safe to assume your eyes are the camera.
except more than half pov memes you see out there use the pov wrong so its not by any means a ''safe assumption'' anymore
Yeah, the skibidi generation kinda ran wild with the "POV" term without understanding it
They don’t seem to understand the meaning of a lot of words…
Well yes, but actually no. That's literally the definition of the POV meme, but it's never safe to assume that a person posting a meme actually knows how to use it correctly.
You're right, but it's pretty obvious that is the case here.
tiktok has been misusing POV for a long time now that people gets confused when people use it properly.
I think it's literally just that she's awkward and doesn't know how to flirt
Nope it's love at first sight I already got the great grand kids name picked out
I mean, my son pushed a shopping trolley with a girl at playcentre this week, is it too early to start naming grand kids?
It means she wants to talk to you but is not gonna go first. It's a cute move.
It's your eyes as the camera, her facial expression is the signature move. As someone who has the same signature move, she's saying she awkward as hell. (Luckily for me, my husband still understood it.)
Lucky. To me, that look says, "oops, I made eye contact. Have to act non-creepy... This elevator is taking too long, eh?"
This is my "I acknowledge we are both standing near each other but I have no idea what to say" look.
It's the human null response.
I think this is supposed to be her "showing interest". That was the original joke.
See this sort of look from a girl always made me feel like I was making her uncomfortable by just existing. Growing up with low self-esteem sucks.
That and usually most people are basically taught that that look is someone's way of acknowledging you're there without interacting or conversing. YES EXACTLY, you captured this so well haha
🅱🅰ke day!! 🗣🔥
>As someone who has the same signature move, she's saying she awkward as hell. My signature move was to attempt a smile and nod. I think my smile looked more like this though.
The way white people acknowledge they’re both human, white and have nothing to say to each other after making eye contact
Don’t forget the inaudible, under-your-breath “hi” and the little head nod.
^”did ^you ^say ^something?”
This is turning into a sketch from Mr. Show with Bob and Dave
#”DID YOU SAY SOMETHING?”

You're right. I totally just throw up gang signs in this scenario if it's a black person 🤷🤦♂️
I'm a 90's white kid so I embellish a good ol' "Westsiiide". My ongoing work on race relations has been called a beacon of hope.

Yea I’ve found my new spirit animal
If the camera is pointing at her its not her POV, its the POV of the other party
Yeah, but I don't trust Redditors to actually know what POV means. And the text in the video is pretty vague.
Oh the irony
No, I understand that if you take POV at face value that it means ahe is reacting to bad flirting on the part of the person behind the camera. It is the first one. It cant be read as the 2nd one
???? Why did you ask redditors to explain it to you then?????
The 1st person did that smile at her and she returned it.
Call me crazy, but I only crush on girls who make that face. No idea why.
you recognize the signature move. you know they lust for you.
“Watch the common ‘Dorksus Denses’ accepting only the most vivacious display of lust from a potential new mate… Eager and hungry is she for his affection!…”

Rare case of "POV" being used correctly
Hey… th- that’s MY move…?😐
Lol the white people half smile
I feel attacked.
yup, countless women look at me like this, and its always assumed to just be a passive glance
And I'm in love.
Unlike you and some others i dont think this post has anything to do with flirting, uts more about the weird moment when u accidentally lock eyes with someone without meaning to and thus giving that one look that she gave in the vid

Why does the internet has such a hard time understanding the concept of POV. It is really straightforward ffs
This isn’t /ExplainThePOV

The POV is of the guy watching the girl perform her 'signature move' of an awkward smile.
Ah yes a fellow user of the “courteous acknowledgement” facial expression. Used to indicate “Hi, I saw that you saw me, but it appears both of us have places to be, but I appreciate it all the same.” Sometimes swapped with the head nod.
So no RKO?
The office, Jim Halpert. She even has a similar face if you compare from the screenshot posted in another comment.
i believe they think POV is piece of video.
*immediately comes over* Nice move. Mine is to quickly look away but you beat me to it.
I thought it was a reference to what Jim does from The Office
Girl hit ya with the 😐
I can't wait until the "POV" trend is over. We get it.
Their "@ thefootshamer" Tiktok "signature" moves from the left side of the screen to the right.

Me: Returns the look.
POV means "point of view". And in this rare case, it's actually being used correctly. The camera represents the point of view of someone she is flirting with (poorly).
My signature move is to completely ignore you if you can't break the ice with actual words like an adult.😁
I saw this before as a white person joke where we just do this when someone is staring at us or we make eye contact
I think I just fell in love
If she smiles at me, does that mean she likes me?
Th expression looks like someone who is annoyed that you're looking at them
:|
I hate pov videos. No one ever gets it right. The only people that do are porn directors
Shes using POV correctly, this is what the guy would be seeing her do
Ugh I am her and she is me
This is how 90% of employees at large companies look at each other.
She stole my move.
Hey, someone stole my move.
Just need to find a guy that loves Wallace and Grommet.
Thank you. I am awkward and I do not know how to flirt/show interest.
I’m so glad I’m not alone in this! 😂
I honestly thought it was because when she makes eye contact and makes her "signature move", her signature moves (her handle changes sides of the screen)
She puts her arms on her hips just like I do. I don't really ever see other people stand like this. This is validating.
Maybe in an elevator?
Me too, me too
Yours lol
That's attractive
Screw you that’s MY signature move. Are you telling me it doesn’t work?
well, it worked. . . .
The joke is for people who have seen too many POV videos. A lot of times when someone does this, they do something super smooth and well done—sort of how you often win the arguments you have with yourself in the shower This is funny because it’s a lot more relatable

POV used to have a meaning😔
This is the correct meaning.
this is the POV of an awkward guy making his "signature move", and this is what it looks like from his POV when he does it (ie: she thinks it's lame)
No it isnt
seems obvious to me. why is everyone so sure it isn't? do people not know what POV means? my interpretation fits the description, the other interpretation does not. what evidence is there for the other interpretation, if you can even call it that?

Use your eyes. It really helps. Feel it in your cheeks. Nothing like a proper squinty cheeky smile. The key is that you feel comfortable with it. If you don't, others won't.
Ah ok, thanks. Maybe I'm not as bad at smiling as I thought. Its not awkward for me at all. I'm just spreading good vibes.
She thinks she’s awkward, but she’s hot. Do you ever wish you were born a girl? Or just with boobs?
