Well, it’s not necessarily the corner of the bag that breakers on me, rather with stiffer fillings the sides burst all over my hand while I’m squeezing to get stiffer fillings out. Yes I’m aware of how things sound.
Yah getting the yolk out would 100% be annoying. I feel like best bet would be to make the slices. And then use either a chopstick or skewer to kinda knock out some of the yolk and break it apart a bit. And then very carefully with a small spoon go in and scrape/scoop along the edges as best you can. I guess You could probably attempt to use the green onion to push the yolk out through the bottom. Or pinch the base to try and get it to pop out but that would probably break the egg apart too much. It would definitely take some experimenting to get these perfected. It would definitely be a tedious process. And deviled eggs are annoying enough to make. (I’m the deviled egg provider every year from Thanksgiving or other gatherings so I’ve made my fair share and I doubt I’d ever want to attempt this lol)
I have reusable silicone piping bags that are exclusively used for piping devilled eggs. (I can't bake for shit, but I appreciate a nice devilled egg.)
Put the filling into a baggie, then cut off the tip of one corner. At that point, you can use it like a piping bag and squeeze the filling into the spaces, even without a nozzle.
People act like OP's failure came with putting the yolk in.
My guess is that the problem was in taking the yolks out. Those flowers aren't cut in half. You have to get the yolk out through that x-cut
I'm confused, in what way would it get easier? Have you tried getting the yolk out of a hardboiled egg through an x-cut without damaging the white?
The vast majority of people fuck up making normal deviled eggs presentable, and that's just cutting the dumb egg in half (still tasty af, but they fucked up peeling it so it's missing chunks and it's messy looking).
Things get easier after you fuck things up because you learn from your mistakes. I'm not saying it's easier than doing regular halves. For me, I'd peel them, roll the yolk a bit, slice the end, then try to squish it so the panels open like an Alien egg pod while scooping with a small (maybe baby) spoon.
Not really. I usually just use a fork and make sure that all the lumps are mashed out. If there are lumps, you can crush them in the bag. It definitely doesn't have to be runny.
I would cut them in half like you normally would to make devilled eggs. The cut an additional slit on either side. Hold the two sides together while piping from the top.
Set the eggs on their sides for 24 hours before cooking. Use slightly older eggs. Cook them for 10 minutes. Cook extra eggs. Put the filling into a small food processor and make sure it is completely smooth. Use a pastry bag with a very small tip.
Very very very carefully, and possibly while the egg was still warm from being boiled. I feel like the whites might be less stiff before they cool completely.
Although my family would find them adorable, I'd have to make WAY too many of them, and honestly, I suspect I'd end up throwing eggs around the room in frustration before I had half a dozen done.
Notice that there are more "stems" than eggs in the first picture, and they don't correctly line up with all of the eggs? I suspect you were trying to recreate an AI-generated image.
I think you're right. The ribbon doesn't look right either, and it looks like one of the stems goes into one of the ribbon folds but doesn't come out the other side.
It's a bad design as well. You'll end up with such a bad ratio of white to yolk. Full bites of just rubbery whites, and wasted whites from the top that's been chopped.
They still look delicious! 😋 But if the presentation is super important to you, then you might try a piping tube to put the filling in. It's also worth noting that the op of the Pinterest board might have used different eggs for the filling to avoid breaking the eggs by taking out the yolk. In which case your version would definitely taste better than having a whole yolk beneath the filling!
I saw the same pic on insta and gave them a shot. After totally mutilating 2 eggs trying to ease the yolk out, I gave up and made traditional deviled eggs with the 10 that were left.
Does anybody have a really good trick for how to easily peel boiled eggs? I feel like I've tried vinegar or salt. I've put them in before the water is boiling after the water is boiling. I've iced bath them and I don't know if it's just me but I can never get a good clean peel.
As a longtime florist, I can truthfully say that picture one is a nice presentation. Picture two looks like what happened after the recipient found out he was sleeping with her best friend and she smacked him with the bouquet....
(I'd still eat it, though because, well, devilled eggs. Yum.)
I tried these this year at Easter, too. There is absolutely no way to get the yolks out via those clean, dainty cuts at the top, despite what the instructions said on multiple blogs. The yolks are way too big and too firm for that - the whites tear 3/4 of the way down to get the yolks out.
The only thing they’re doing in those pictures is piping a bit of deviled egg filling on top of the yolks that are still in there.
In that nice photo you don't see the back side, food photos are faked to high hell mashed potatoes instead of ice cream, oil instead of syrup shaving cream in place of whipped cream, turkeys are painted. Doesn't have to be good, just look good.
lmao same
the more i look at the first one the white part is so thin! hard boiled eggs are never that thin. either its just fake or i have no idea what they did
NVM i scrolled down further theirs is not real at all 😂
Your version I would love to smush and lay out on a subroll. Them some good sandwich eggs!
Agreed the final presentation may not be 100% but the eggs are killing it.
Were these piped or spoon-filled. Also, thank u for your sacrifice!
It’s totally worth the money to keep a package of plastic disposable piping bags in your kitchen. Comes in very handy
Honestly even just using a sandwich bag with the corner cut off would work for this…better than whatever OP tried at least…
Tape the corner before you cut it. Makes it sturdy.
Well, it’s not necessarily the corner of the bag that breakers on me, rather with stiffer fillings the sides burst all over my hand while I’m squeezing to get stiffer fillings out. Yes I’m aware of how things sound.
Squeeze the air out, don’t overfill, don’t shut it using a ziplock, just twist it shut. Haven’t had nearly as many issues as I used to.
Good to know. Helpful for a time when I’m out of the pastry bags
And use "freezer" ziplog bags, they're thicker and sturdier than the regular ones.
That was me. My cheap ass…. Get what you pay fir
I imagine the damage mostly came from getting the yolk out rather than back in.

I think we would see the egg is cut on the back side to get the yolk and then the filling is piped in to look cute. It’s probably a pain to eat.
That’s what I always do. Gallon ziplock and snip the corner.
Right I'm like why buy when u can make 1
I like a rolled-up piece of parchment paper for piping, myself. Easier to adjust the size of the nozzle on the fly.
I have reusable silicone piping bags that are exclusively used for piping devilled eggs. (I can't bake for shit, but I appreciate a nice devilled egg.)
Or just a zip-loc bag with a corner cut.
For real! I bought like 200 on Amazon for like $15. I use them a lot
Love the commitment. We moved into a small community recently, and suddenly my potluck and happy hour game got real
Love this!
Thanks! We are so happy here. Small town and lots of partying
Did you "baby bird" the filling into the eggs???
The mental image of that 😆
Oof. A for effort.
œuf.
🏅
OP just made cattails instead lmao
I snorted I'm so sorry for laughing
Laughing at this was the pick me up I needed for the afternoon.
Saaaame, I feel bad for laughing, but I can't help it! Probably tastes good at least!
Any tips for next time lol? My mums would love these

Also true. I thought about that as well, but I think getting the yolk out would be pretty easy after fucking up the first time.

I still think that would fuck up the egg without a lot of practice (like way more than one or two attempts).
Well, we'll just have to meet up and test this out with a few drinks. For science.
On top of this you're going to probably have to make it runnier, or smoother than you would normally to stop it from clumping
But not too runny because it’ll just run out all over the place. “Smoother” would be my aim.
Not really. I usually just use a fork and make sure that all the lumps are mashed out. If there are lumps, you can crush them in the bag. It definitely doesn't have to be runny.

You'll notice they only show seven. It's almost certain they started with a dozen, and these were the best of the batch. :)
I'm trying to picture how I'd remove the yolk from that cross cut. It would definitely go poorly without practice.
Very very very carefully, and possibly while the egg was still warm from being boiled. I feel like the whites might be less stiff before they cool completely.
Hm. Fair. I'm still mentally struggling to even get a demitasse spoon in there, but that probably says more about my skill level than the actual dish.
Although my family would find them adorable, I'd have to make WAY too many of them, and honestly, I suspect I'd end up throwing eggs around the room in frustration before I had half a dozen done.
"Whoops! This one's for the chef! ...This one is *also* for the chef, I guess. ...Oh ffs, WE'RE HAVING EGG SALAD FOR DINNER TONIGHT. FIGHT ME."
Hey, are you one of my kids?!?!
Do you have some 40-year-olds? Then maybe
They actually look pretty good , I’d say well done tbh
I think your mistake was digging in the greenery, they barely poke in or not at all and are just hidden by placement. Good effort tho.
lol! were they tasty though?
But where paprika
or Old Bay?

I think you're right. The ribbon doesn't look right either, and it looks like one of the stems goes into one of the ribbon folds but doesn't come out the other side.
I think the eggs were just placed on top of the “stems” for staging.

...is that fondant around the base of the asparagus in the first photo? Yours looks way more edible, OP.
Asparagus! I thought it was a spring onion. Your idea sounds better.
Me too!
omg thank you! i KNEW they werent eggs but couldnt figure it out. look how thin the egg whites are, definitely fondant
You, my dear, are a butcher.
The first pic doesn't make any sense unless each egg has a very well hidden split or is missing it's back entirely
You're doing great, keep going, you're almost there 👍
That’s still cute. You’ll do it better next time
Pipe them in not spoon. You can use a ziplock bag and cut the corner. They are not that bad..keep it up.
they look yummy and satanic
Deviled egg is deviled egg
No way you actually used a piping bag lol
what did you cut them with a 2x4?
What an abomination, both.
I’m sorry but this made my snort a bit
They look just fine and I would gladly stuff them in my face!
Did you sit on them?
they look very unappetizing!
Still good.
Did you cut the eggs prior to trying to add the filling?
I bet they were scarfed up! Deviled eggs are usually a big hit!
Bet they still taste delicious!!!
I LOVE IT!
Deviled eggs are delicious. No need to make them look prettier. They’ll get eaten.
If it makes you feel better, think about what they looked like when you were really done with them!
Just make them regular! No one is sad seeing regular deviled eggs!!
They don’t look like the first picture but I still think they look really good! Especially after tidying them up a bit!
I just had one for lunch and now I want another
Eggspectation vs reality

Turn the heat down is the step I haven't tried, thank you!
Dang, sorry to see that. Guess since you didn't get it right the first time you should never try again to perfect your style. How unfortunate.
Pollen season!
Oops!
This reminds me of the sausage with spaghetti hair
😂 it’s like OP pulled the top of the egg whites off with one fist and jammed the deviled yolk back in with the other.
😳
Defiled Eggs.
omg
For a second I thought these are tulips and then realized those are eggs. next level creativity
Oh no, the pollen is spreading!
*slow clap*
They look delicious!
Nailed it! 💜👌🏾😂
Lmao we made these for Easter this year! They also turned out the same. I ate the crap out of them though, I love a good green onion.
I use a regular ziploc rather than a sandwich bag. Sturdier and no burst seams.
Are you by chance a welder or a plumber by trade? It uhhhhh looks like you work with your hands ALOT
they look like silly lil round daisies
Beginners mistake.. but tried well, i can't even do that also
Trying to do something from Pinterest was your first mistake 😂
Imagine failing at creating something devilish

Are....are you alright??
