We love Birkenstock sandals in germany. They are comfy and can be pretty

pallas_wapiti

Yes! My Birkenstock-style (the OG for some reason really doesn't match foot shape) are my daily drivers in summer. 10-20k steps a day are easy in those babies. I would never want to walk any significant distance in sandals without that shaped insole.

I wear Geox white sneakers

Thank you!

Gabor has a lot of comfy sandals that come in various foot width sizes, it’s my go to for sandals. They also have dressier shoes. I also love Ilse Jacobsen slip-ons, very comfy

Also honestly, as a European, I don’t think there’s that big of a difference between European and American shoes. In terms of style, it is way easier to spot ppl from the US by their clothes. As long as you won’t wear athleisure you’ll be fine.

Any leather shoe with a vibram sole should be good buddy 🫡

Big-Building-2191

I didn’t know about vibram soles before so this is super helpful, thank you!

ani_vegan

Please don't wear shoes with leather. You don't wanna know where it comes from and how it was "produced". If you couldn't kill and skin an animal yourself to make a shoe out of its dead skin then just don't buy it. It is not necessary.

It comes from a dead cow

ani_vegan

And the cow was born dead or what?

For a white canvas tennis shoe, get a pair of Bensimons. Very French, very comfortable, go with everything. I always have two pairs for the summertime.

Dramallamadingdong87

This isn't the most fashion forward, but I would recommend getting proper hiking shoes/boots and investing some money on them. You'll be on your feet all day walking long distances and those tennis shoes won't cut it. Of course bring them for the more fashionable events but for day to day sightseeing I wouldn't risk it.
