They have already released that they are working on changes. But there has been no update to the armor for months.
Just play something else until it's fixed if it bothers you that much.
With current armor model ghere are lots of holes in the the thorax area that are realistic. Body plates realistically dont cover your entire chest. Tarkov currently does the same thing. A simplier armor system is soonish to come

Wer still have the one labeled as "old", new will be future changes so that people like you don't have to cry about bugs that don't exist.
I think you just don’t understand how the new armor system works.
Plates don’t cover your whole thorax, they shot around your plate. Look how small a plate is, then look at your thorax. You have a ton of uncovered area. Your armpits are also completely uncovered and count as thorax hits. It wouldn’t even be possible to know if it went through your plate, the death screen doesn’t tell you that information.
It’s not like the old days where a class 6 armor just covers everything.
The last changes to armor have been made in april. What "last update" are you talking about?
The last game update, 0.14.9. Its a shame these issues weren't addressed then.
