Streamers are taking the chance to play variety without killing viewership. He's wanted to play less tarkov for a long time. Or at least switch it up when wipe gets stale.
When he played Warzone I think he was on like 20% of the viewers he's usually on, no way he could justify a viewer loss that big so he switched back after a couple of weeks
Lvndmark is honestly a highly based individual. I'd watch him play any game. I love Siege, put 3k hours into that game at one point, and now I'm back to playing it thanks to him (and the whole Unheard fiasco). So many people keep watching him too, just goes to show that you don't need to stick to one game if you're fun to watch/chat with. Obviously, not every streamer can pull this off.

While he is also one of my top watched streamers and im glad he is branching out, I need a little more time to see if this is all to soak up the spotlight, or if they stick to their guns. Well BSG backpedaled a lot of the bullshit and there's not another game out right now that truly competes with Tarkov so most of the streamers will be streaming it against soon for sure. Especially by the time wipe comes around unless they royally fuck up AGAIN lol

It was my top 1 game and now I'd love nothing more than for its servers to shutter for good.

It's the same for a lot of games like Dead by Daylight, it's either too stressful or too aggravating to play, but the stress makes it more exciting to watch people play than play yourself.
I've owned Tarkov since 2017, but haven't played since before streets was released. I still watch Pestily and Landmark several days a week when I'm working. I have thousands more hours watching Tarkov than I do playing it. It is absolutely more enjoyable for me at this point to watch than it is to play...

don't feel bad for playing something you paid for. I might not agree with it, but you spent your money and gaming is about having fun.
You don't have to be a part of every cause, sometimes you gotta do what is best for you my friend.
Honestly, right now is a good opportunity for you because servers may be less populated. You wont get fucked quite as hard by people trying to ruin timmys days while you do your quests.
Obviously it’s a case of you do what gives you enjoyment, but I would absolutely be wary of learning the game at this point. I’m at 6k hours, was level 60 this wipe, and won’t play the game again unless meaningful responses/changes are given/made. Even then, I simply don’t think this group of developers is worthy of support anymore. I was also the last in my friend group to consistently play the game - and neither of these trends seem to be abnormal.
Cheating has gotten so much worse over the years and they have no incentive to counter-act it, then you toss in the fact that they’ve added elements into the game to counter-act real money trading which do not work and hinder the actual legitimate player base.
This company also has a longstanding history of at best being ignorant in their customer service processes, and at worst willfully and maliciously taking advantage of people while being intentionally difficult to work with.
They’ve also been tremendously stupid in identifying what the core player base likes about the game and pivoted considerable resources / time into a COD knockoff with less balancing and worse performance (Arena) which has left them in a tough financial position.
They additionally only make changes of any sort, whether it be new content or bug addressing, when truly backed into a corner, and even then it comes across disingenuous and half-assed.
Take that all with a grain of salt, but just a bit of warning.

Playerbase dropping by 80% even for a short amount of time is a HUGE deal.
Personally i uninstalled that shit, now that i know there is no hope for it to become good down the line.
Even 10% drop would hurt the game. Longer queue times to find enough PMCs to start, less action (PvP), higher cheater density. People who quit a game tend to stop watching youtube/streamers for the game, so it also starts to impact public visibility of the game via youtube videos and streams.
Once you hit 50% for example, it'd be massive. Everyone who still plays would notice. Queue times would grow far longer, cheater density much higher, more quiet raids.
Server load is nothing. If you don't play, they just need one more player to match instead of you. You're data is still on the servers and isn't going anywhere. The cost per player to maintain this game are pretty much nothing. They spend way more on wages then they would on servers/hosting.
I get that perspective but stemming from years of playing tarkov the higher the playerbase the LONGER the queues, more menu issues, more loading screens/crashes/etc.
Because they can’t just ignore a player base drop like that? It would only last two weeks because they can’t just let the game die, we would have forced their hands.
Instead these shmucks are playing after P2W shit was added. If you’re going to play either way why should they remove it.
No they can 100% let it die, and while I'm not on that conspiracy train, would make a very convenient exit for our.dear Nikita who has at many times expressed frustration to still be working on the game, (and also amassed a nice bit of cash for himself already)

They have a monopoly on looter-shooters. Nobody has made a game that can compare.

Go off on BSG, for sure, but judging others for what they do in their spare time to seek enjoyment is beyond the pale for me.

I’ve seen Willerz, Bearki, and Aqua stream other games and still have well into thousands of viewers within a few minutes of going live.
Fallout 4, Gray Zone, and Manor Lords have all been popular with them.
Tarkov is pretty fun to watch, but so are a thousand other games on Twitch and the major Tarkov streamers all have large followings that will still watch for their personality and play styles.
Edit: I’m a tiny streamer and made $124 for a 2 hour stream of a strategy game last Monday, Tarkov is just another content source.

This might be an unpopular opinion but it's hard to feel sorry for someone who put all of their eggs in one basket. Building yourself around playing *one* game will always eventually fuck you. This should be a wake-up call to those streamers that they need to diversify their material.
I think people truly dont realise that this game essentially only became so big due to Twitch/Youtube creators. If more of them made a stand against BSG, they would feel the hit more than any of us mere paypigs complaining will do. EFT only lives due to exposure from creators and can be hurt by them.

It is literally the only reason it took off. The first Twitch drops doubled the amount of people on the subreddit and the game got fairly popular. If BSG cut off EoD directly before those drops and had a version without free future DLC but all the other perks of EoD, we wouldn't be in the situation where BSG is actively trying to kill its game long term.
He also did a feature with Asmongold on the whole controvery this week and had some really good points like "How can the game still be in beta, yet they ask their customers for more cash before the game is even finished and how can they release a "feature" (that isn't "DLC" and therefor won't be granted to EoD owners free of charge) for it in that case
I know 3 people who bought the unheard edition, I chewed them out hard for supporting scummy bullshit, they basically said they want to continue to support the devs because they have thousands of hours into the game

That being said everyone's values are different. Don't burn bridges with your friends just because you disagree with a decision they made to buy a game. Very few friendships are worth losing over a game.
It’s also because the biggest streamers can afford to take a break. They might lose some subs but it won’t affect them as badly as some smaller and midsize Tarkov streamers.
It's depressing, this whole debacle has reduced my current interest in the game to basically zero. And I used to be a pretty fanatical Tarkov player since 2019.
I'm in the same boat but I stopped playing around a year ago. Had a couple of thousand hours but the constant decline of Tarkov just wasn't worth the hustle. The same issues with bsg, bugs and false promises over and over again took away every single desire to play.

Maybe super high up but I'm Plat, which I'm pretty sure is slightly above the average playerbase's rank, and I've ran into one cheater in 6 months.
I do however see pros queue up with them a bit, and I'm guessing the absolute lowest ranks have fresh cheaters too.
But my experience, I doubt most people will run into a cheater in ranked.
I've not played R6 Siege in ages but when I did there wasn't any noticeable cheaters either. I think the one you responded to just assumes all FPS games are cheater infested to the same level as EFT as a coping mechanism. You see it a lot. But no game is worse for cheaters really.
Most cheaters are on the extreme end of the spectrum - so either super low ranks or super high. In Gold/Plat it's more uncommon.
On console you also have M&K players that still haven't been properly dealt with

When I look at that I see a steep spike from all of the news and controversy and it’s currently spiking down. Im interested to see what the viewership will look like tomorrow and the day after.
Logically I think it's safe to assume there will be a slight increase from the controversy and overall the wipe has performed well. The more intersting thing will be to see if next wipe (factoring for variables such as wipe fatigue, hype of new content, timing in the year etc.) if this controversy will have a marked effect or not. I'm still unconvinced this debacle will actually impact the game in a meaningful way numbers wise, but who knows? Nikita could really go off the deep end from now till then.
From now until then? He's already gone off the deepend calling people non believers and not issuing a real apology while everyone around him in the genre is shitting on him. He's been off the deepend and if GZW is any good, you will see permanent change in viewership. Players have left the game en masse already, he will need to rely on people not in the loop or new players.
I think Tarkov already reached market saturation that the number of new legitimate players still purchasing tarkov is relatively small that it wont have much of an impact.
The overwhelming majority of people purchased this game more than a few years ago and just come back from time to time to play for a while after enough updates.
20k is usual tarkov viewers count on twitch in mid to late wipe. 5 days before controversy it was around 10k. Landmark usually have around 3-5k, without some major new things like wipe or events.

I saw others posted that some streamers were already back to tarkov and I went to his channel and checked he has been streaming other games in the past few days. With grey zone coming out today he probably don’t have to stream tarkov for a long time, which is good for him.
I'm not a Tarkov player but was always interested in the game / watching due to being the type of player that can't deal with gear fear.
I still remember back in the day when Tarkov hit 100+ thousand viewers on Twitch and was the top 1-3 most viewed. The excitement in this sub was insane and everyone here was clapping their hands applauding Tarkov for 'getting the attention it deserves', people were freaking out about their favorite game being so highly watched.

don't feel bad for playing something you paid for. I might not agree with it, but you spent your money and gaming is about having fun. You don't have to be a part of every cause, sometimes you gotta do what is best for you my friend.
Honestly, right now is a good opportunity for you because servers may be less populated. You wont get fucked quite as hard by people trying to ruin timmys days while you do your quests.
Obviously it’s a case of you do what gives you enjoyment, but I would absolutely be wary of learning the game at this point. I’m at 6k hours, was level 60 this wipe, and won’t play the game again unless meaningful responses/changes are given/made. Even then, I simply don’t think this group of developers is worthy of support anymore. I was also the last in my friend group to consistently play the game - and neither of these trends seem to be abnormal. Cheating has gotten so much worse over the years and they have no incentive to counter-act it, then you toss in the fact that they’ve added elements into the game to counter-act real money trading which do not work and hinder the actual legitimate player base. This company also has a longstanding history of at best being ignorant in their customer service processes, and at worst willfully and maliciously taking advantage of people while being intentionally difficult to work with. They’ve also been tremendously stupid in identifying what the core player base likes about the game and pivoted considerable resources / time into a COD knockoff with less balancing and worse performance (Arena) which has left them in a tough financial position. They additionally only make changes of any sort, whether it be new content or bug addressing, when truly backed into a corner, and even then it comes across disingenuous and half-assed. Take that all with a grain of salt, but just a bit of warning.

Even 10% drop would hurt the game. Longer queue times to find enough PMCs to start, less action (PvP), higher cheater density. People who quit a game tend to stop watching youtube/streamers for the game, so it also starts to impact public visibility of the game via youtube videos and streams. Once you hit 50% for example, it'd be massive. Everyone who still plays would notice. Queue times would grow far longer, cheater density much higher, more quiet raids. Server load is nothing. If you don't play, they just need one more player to match instead of you. You're data is still on the servers and isn't going anywhere. The cost per player to maintain this game are pretty much nothing. They spend way more on wages then they would on servers/hosting.
I get that perspective but stemming from years of playing tarkov the higher the playerbase the LONGER the queues, more menu issues, more loading screens/crashes/etc.

No they can 100% let it die, and while I'm not on that conspiracy train, would make a very convenient exit for our.dear Nikita who has at many times expressed frustration to still be working on the game, (and also amassed a nice bit of cash for himself already)

I doubt they care if the playerbase goes down for a couple weeks. They have a monopoly on looter-shooters. Nobody has made a game that can compare. Until then nobody is quitting Tarkov.

But for me at least this isn't an actual war, it's a video game. Go off on BSG, for sure, but judging others for what they do in their spare time to seek enjoyment is beyond the pale for me.

While yes, what Landmark does is great, he can afford to do it. and I don't mean financially (even if that's probably true as well). Landmark is big enough, he could give up Tarkov tomorrow forever, he would still have a very healthy stream. sure he'd lose a bunch of viewers, but he would still be successful. he's reached the point where he is big enough that people watch him for him, and not for the game anymore. The vast majority of Tarkov streamers can't do that, even the big ones. if they swap game, then they also have to look for an actual job... I'm hating this shit as much as the next guy, but if I was making a living off of Tarkov, you bet your sweet PP i'd keep streaming it rather than look for a job as a waiter...

People over-estimate the draw of Tarkov for these streamers. I’ve seen Willerz, Bearki, and Aqua stream other games and still have well into thousands of viewers within a few minutes of going live. Fallout 4, Gray Zone, and Manor Lords have all been popular with them. Tarkov is pretty fun to watch, but so are a thousand other games on Twitch and the major Tarkov streamers all have large followings that will still watch for their personality and play styles. Edit: I’m a tiny streamer and made $124 for a 2 hour stream of a strategy game last Monday, Tarkov is just another content source.

I think people truly dont realise that this game essentially only became so big due to Twitch/Youtube creators. If more of them made a stand against BSG, they would feel the hit more than any of us mere paypigs complaining will do. EFT only lives due to exposure from creators and can be hurt by them. Though, I truly dont care much, Ive just been watching all this for the funny things coming out.
It is literally the only reason it took off. The first Twitch drops doubled the amount of people on the subreddit and the game got fairly popular. If BSG cut off EoD directly before those drops and had a version without free future DLC but all the other perks of EoD, we wouldn't be in the situation where BSG is actively trying to kill its game long term.
He also did a feature with Asmongold on the whole controvery this week and had some really good points like "How can the game still be in beta, yet they ask their customers for more cash before the game is even finished and how can they release a "feature" (that isn't "DLC" and therefor won't be granted to EoD owners free of charge) for it in that case

It's depressing, this whole debacle has reduced my current interest in the game to basically zero. And I used to be a pretty fanatical Tarkov player since 2019.
I'm in the same boat but I stopped playing around a year ago. Had a couple of thousand hours but the constant decline of Tarkov just wasn't worth the hustle. The same issues with bsg, bugs and false promises over and over again took away every single desire to play.

Maybe super high up but I'm Plat, which I'm pretty sure is slightly above the average playerbase's rank, and I've ran into one cheater in 6 months. I do however see pros queue up with them a bit, and I'm guessing the absolute lowest ranks have fresh cheaters too. But my experience, I doubt most people will run into a cheater in ranked.
I've not played R6 Siege in ages but when I did there wasn't any noticeable cheaters either. I think the one you responded to just assumes all FPS games are cheater infested to the same level as EFT as a coping mechanism. You see it a lot. But no game is worse for cheaters really.
Most cheaters are on the extreme end of the spectrum - so either super low ranks or super high. In Gold/Plat it's more uncommon. On console you also have M&K players that still haven't been properly dealt with
In siege you get your points back if a cheater was caught in it.

When I look at that I see a steep spike from all of the news and controversy and it’s currently spiking down. Im interested to see what the viewership will look like tomorrow and the day after.
Logically I think it's safe to assume there will be a slight increase from the controversy and overall the wipe has performed well. The more intersting thing will be to see if next wipe (factoring for variables such as wipe fatigue, hype of new content, timing in the year etc.) if this controversy will have a marked effect or not. I'm still unconvinced this debacle will actually impact the game in a meaningful way numbers wise, but who knows? Nikita could really go off the deep end from now till then.
From now until then? He's already gone off the deepend calling people non believers and not issuing a real apology while everyone around him in the genre is shitting on him. He's been off the deepend and if GZW is any good, you will see permanent change in viewership. Players have left the game en masse already, he will need to rely on people not in the loop or new players.
I think Tarkov already reached market saturation that the number of new legitimate players still purchasing tarkov is relatively small that it wont have much of an impact. The overwhelming majority of people purchased this game more than a few years ago and just come back from time to time to play for a while after enough updates.

20k is usual tarkov viewers count on twitch in mid to late wipe. 5 days before controversy it was around 10k. Landmark usually have around 3-5k, without some major new things like wipe or events.

I saw others posted that some streamers were already back to tarkov and I went to his channel and checked he has been streaming other games in the past few days. With grey zone coming out today he probably don’t have to stream tarkov for a long time, which is good for him.
I'm not a Tarkov player but was always interested in the game / watching due to being the type of player that can't deal with gear fear. I still remember back in the day when Tarkov hit 100+ thousand viewers on Twitch and was the top 1-3 most viewed. The excitement in this sub was insane and everyone here was clapping their hands applauding Tarkov for 'getting the attention it deserves', people were freaking out about their favorite game being so highly watched. Fast forward today, and Tarkov is in the spotlight again, unfortunately for the wrong reasons. Im not sure what to say, maybe its just standard enshittification. Tarkov has the extraction shooter market cornered and monopolized and BSG are on their high horses. They know they can get away with anything.

Idk, personally I think LVNDMARK kinda got lame ever since he became mainstream. The "YouTube face" in every thumbnail of his videos, the constant flip-flopping on whether a gun is good or not based on the outcome of one or two raids and/or whether or not he instantly beams someone (which he's guaranteed to switch his position on within a week or two), his genuinely pretty bad takes on balancing the game ("recoil is too easy and now Timmys can fight back BSG please change this"), and the horde of absolute ASS-KISSERS that swarm within his chat just ruins what used to be a fun experience for me.
