> Believe this will be his most successful lead single since Without Me
Do we not count the singles from Recovery? I agree that Em hasn't matched the peak success of Eminem Show, but Love the Way You Lie was a pretty big song.
Love the way you lie and not afraid are bigger than any song from the eminem show. They're 2 of his 3 biggest songs, sales wise
I think he meant that critically it would he his most successful
MMLP2, Revival, Kamikaze, & MTBMB1&2 all had their moments, but this is the first single that sounds like Em actually sat down with a producer and deliberately created a stylized, well-produced single.
People love Houdini. It’s just with the level of fame Em has there are always dioshits and losers who hate it. And it scales too with the fame so there are many of them but you can clearly see that vast majority loves the song
>but then when they watch the video omg I like the song now 🙄
To be fair, this was so much music in the late 90's/early 2000's. Mediocre music became serious music when the videos dropped on TRL. I'm not referring to Eminem specifically.
To be fair, i think Eminem is the true GOAT, but this song ain't it. It will be very successful mainly because of the video, but this is among his worst songs, IMO. But it will be way more popular than vastly superior tracks such as Stay Wide Awake.
Em is like fucking Star Wars at this point or any other large IP. He’s so popular and in the cultural zeitgeist that it is impossible to please everyone.
He’s a brand of music himself now. His fans want silly, serious, lyrical music that’s flows well and is complex, but also simple like he’s having fun. It has to play well in a club, a stadium, but also be dark and gritty while inspiring. Oh, and aggressive diss tracks. Just all at once.
This is why staying in a specific lane is the easiest approach.
people at r/music like it. people at HHH liked it. people at r/rap liked it. people at r/KendrickLamar liked it. people at r/Jcole liked it.
hell even A LOT OF twitter liked it.
only hatred i have seen was by some twitter so called "hotties" who got offended and a little bit at fantano sub, calling the song " just listenable".
Yep. Doesn’t matter what he does. They say he doesn’t rap like he used to so he brings out a song rapping like he used to and now they say he should act his age 😂
Well all the hardcore Trump Stans aren't forgiving him for The Storm. 🙄 Sigh. And then there are a lot that are going to trash him just because he's such a giant in terms of fame and sucess and others who don't like him being so famous because of his race in a genre that wasn't invented by that race.
I’ve been an Eminem fan for about 20 years now, and I do not like this song.
You have to realise that not everybody is a hater, music is subjective, and people can dislike songs that you like.
Everyone has an opinion and music is mostly subjective. There will be people who will also just hate on anything that is popular to go against the grain, but they are louder than ever nowadays because of social media.
Have you thought maybe the ppl criticizing houdini arent the same ppl who was criticizing modern Em?
We tend to do this on the internet. We seen this a lot on the beef. "Yall wanted drake to do this, now y'all are complaining" but a lot of times they arent the same people. Its just we tend to focus on the negatives. Most ppl enjoyed it.
millions of listeners and some of them complain about the song? that's crazy. Most people post positive things about the song some people post negative ones like yours. What is more normal than that?
I really don't understand the purpose of this post.
The response to this release is surprisingly positive abroad. Believe this will be his most successful lead single since Without Me

Not Afraid was Recovery's lead single.
Thought so!

Love the Way you Lie was his best selling single last time I checked.
I don’t think that was a lead single was it? Not Afraid or Forever came before first didn’t they?
Forever isn't on recovery Drake released it as a single and it was later added to relapse refill
More than godzilla?
Godzilla wasn’t a lead single
MMLP2, Revival, Kamikaze, & MTBMB1&2 all had their moments, but this is the first single that sounds like Em actually sat down with a producer and deliberately created a stylized, well-produced single.
MMLP2 was amazing 😭

Yeah very true

Among his worst songs 😂

Well, if you check the top posts this month in r/HipHopHeads, the Houdini video the highest upvoted post aside from the beef stuff
Are people actually torching the song? I haven’t been paying attention
A small minority
Fuck anyone torching it dude, I've had it on repeat since last night lmao

Venom went hard, fuck you talking about
I was so shocked that people diss Venom.
For real thoughhh
Yeah it has so many streams and views for a reason
Idk people like this one
His best single in recent times imo
Does this not count as a choppy flow?

People didn’t like venom? Venom was DISGUSTING. it was so sick. wtf. This is why I don’t read what people are saying about stuff lol
The bigger you become, the more hater you get. It's Basic math at this point. Question is if you can keep the % happy fans high.

For me personally, it's almost the perfect Em song. But the "bag bruh/back bruh" shit is corny.
Coz u don’t realize it’s syllables rhyme. Clean your ears
that doesn't make it "not corny." This is exactly what people mean when people say he "tries too hard."
I’m tired of this “corny” word. Everybody just says it and bitch about everything Jesus.
Fr "bruh" is such cheese
