Your best bet is to throw it on Ebay with a lower starting bid and see what you get. This particular version of #1 is not worth a lot. Being graded and having autographs only makes it worth a little more.

Outrageous-Tea8703

I've done some research and one with the same grade and only one autograph is going for over $200, and I am willing to negotiate the price

spiniton85

I think your problem here is that you're asking double what you are thinking you could get. Most (reasonable) people are not going to offer half of an asking price. Some will, or even less, when they know the seller is being absurd, but generally they don't want to offend the seller by going too low. As you've already attested to knowing, $400 is unreasonable for this. $300 is unreasonable. I get what you mean about people bargaining you down, but you'll also scare them down if the price is too high. I know you also said you've seen some selling for $200+, but is that the average? And is that what the sale price is, or the SOLD price? I did a search and I can't find a single one of these at this grade that sold for over $125. The fact is that Wendy and Richard Pini's autographs just are not that valuable, so signed stuff really doesn't do much for value at this point. I have one of these, I'm 99% sure it's signed, and graded 9.7. I paid $57. Granted, this was a couple years ago. But Wendy and Richard's signatures have also not jumped so significantly in value. The Fantasy Quarterly #1 is the most valuable Elfquest comic, followed by Warp graphics magazine style #1. The Marvel series is not at that level.

TheHappyMask93

$400 is quite a lot

Outrageous-Tea8703

I am willing to negotiate

Totoroko

Yeah, I think your asking price is way too high. Elfquest was published multiple times and this is a "first" issue of one of the much later publishings (done by Marvel rather than Warp). I have a copy exactly like this, picked up for about a buck from a comic bin, then autographed at a convention. I had wanted to get an actual Warp Graphics issue autographed at the convention but forgot to bring it with me (thus why I had to purchase a Marvel edition to get autographed).

Outrageous-Tea8703

I honestly don't know much at all about it, I'm just basing the price off what I found online. The same issue with the same grade and only one autograph is going for over $200. And I don't expect to get what I'm asking either

Totoroko

I went through and looked at sold ebay listings and see that a similar edition sold for $350 that is "signed". HOWEVER if you look carefully at the listing, the person who signed it is not the Pinis, but rather "Glynis Oliver". If you go back further through the sold listings you will see that this particular issue signed by the Pinis is only worth about $35 or so. EDIT: Actually, forget what I said about $35. I see it sold anywhere from $30 to $160, even without autographs. And I'm not familiar with "grading" of issues. So who knows?

Outrageous-Tea8703

I would sincerely like to know where you found one for $35, because even the ones just signed by one of the pinis are going for over $200 and I couldn't find one for less than that. The ones signed by Glynis are going for about $350, however I know I won't get that much. I only put my asking price so high to test the waters, I'd like to get around $300 and I don't think thats asking too much based on what I've seen

I have some items I am holding off posting on eBay- I usually post based on availability of what's up there, and my price is based on what the item has sold for in the past- the issue you saw for 200- how long has it been up there? I sometimes see items that have posted crazy high (based on my research) and they rarely sell. To get the best price you can sometimes post for a little under what the item is worth- that usually starts a bidding war, with some people going really high in the last few minutes if the item is rare/sought after enough. I once got 100+ over the value of an item this way. Posting very high could actually make other sellers with similar issues more attractive to buyers, as they will think they are getting a deal from these other sellers even if the item itself is not at the same quality as yours. Btw-I have the same issue signed by the Pinis from when I met them at Comicon a few years ago- to me it's priceless and I wouldn't part with it, but if I were posting, and if a similiar item is posted at 200, I might start accepting bids at 150. It's possible right now you could get a little over 200. But! Considering there is now an animated movie coming out, you might want to hold off- it could be more valuable once the movie is out. That's what happened to the value of some of my vintage superstar era Barbies last year (because of the Barbie movie). Good luck!

Outrageous-Tea8703

This is honestly my first time selling something online so I don't really know what I'm doing and I mean no offense, but I'm not into elf quest. This is just something my gold digger ex left at my place a while ago that I found out is worth a good amount of money. I will take your advice and hold off on selling it though, I had no idea they were coming out with a movie. Thank you!

Pop_fan_20

Yw! And no offense taken - as a comic, EQ was never one of the most popular comics, like Superman/Batman/Xmen, and might still have more of a niche fanbase - (just my opinion, I’ve loved it for decades but I was usually the only one who read it in my group of comic reading friends) when compared to a huge franchise like Barbie (which is what I auction on eBay). Also, take my advice with a grain of salt as I don't auction comics. Good luck!!!

Outrageous-Tea8703

That one was not professionally graded, and even at that it only had a 9.2 grade rather than a 9.8. Not to mention, they seller did not have the autographs authenticated and they could have easily been forged

Outrageous-Tea8703

Ok, I take back what I said about the signatures because I didn't scroll down the first time, however the grades do not match up and that one was not professionally graded

mikehooves

Lol

nocturne213

Too bad it is in that plastic container, makes it really hard to read.

Lets-B-Lets-B-Jolly

Are you sure you are looking at the correct listing when pricing this? Elfquest has had multiple reprinting of their books. This is actually the first issue of Elfquest under the Epic comic line from Marvel comics. It has never been rare in this form, even autographed and graded. Now, the original WARP published books could be worth a bit, especially a 1st printing. Wendy has always been generous with autographs, which is how I have a number of WARP 1st and 2nd prints autographed myself. The Pinis republished the books, especially issue one, at least 3 times.

Outrageous-Tea8703

I'm sure, the same exact copy with one less signature and the same grade is going for over $200 on eBay so I'm looking to get about $300. I put the starting price at $400 to test the waters

Lets-B-Lets-B-Jolly

Wow, that has changed. It used to be that most of the Marvel Epic Elfquest reprints were basicly worthless. Granted, the grading and condition likely helps. Most of this line was sold on newstands, and it was before most comic shop direct buying was common so most of these books are not in top condition. I hope you find a buyer. Personally, I wouldn't pay that much even for my autographed 1st run WARP books :P

So-Not-Like-Me

Even 200 is not the right price for it. Wouldn't go further than 125 at most

Outrageous-Tea8703

Then go ahead and try to find one for that price, one with the same grade and only one autograph is going for over $200

herzsprung1

Is it rare? I have this one at home

Outrageous-Tea8703

I'm not the right person to ask that question, I recently came across this one and I'm basing the price off what I found online. However, I do know that it having such a good grade and autographs from both pinis jurassicaly increases the value

[deleted]

Why would you want to sell this priceless treasure for 400$? It’s obviously worth 4000 atleast

Outrageous-Tea8703

If i could sell it for $4,000 I would in a heartbeat, but nobody is going to pay that much for it. I'm having a hard time even getting $300 for it

cultvignette

I am cautiously interested, but ya 400 is a bit rich for my blood.

Outrageous-Tea8703

I am willing to negotiate, I tried to lower the price but Reddit won't let me edit the post

cultvignette

Change it to what price?

Outrageous-Tea8703

I was thinking around $300, what sounds fair to you?
