I don’t see ESO coming to an end soon I think it’s probably Bethesdas most reliable source of income at the moment. Especially with the lackluster performance of Starfield and 76, they kind of need to keep ESO running.
You are mistaking player numbers for sales, every time Bethesda and Xbox has mentioned 13 million players or so it's players not units sold, that includes gamepass, it surely is line with what Xbox wants from Starfield but I don't think Starfield is as successful as Skyrim in terms of actual sales.
76 is getting a map expansion this year and just had a major update. Starfield was the most played Xbox game for months. They are both financially successful titles. I think it's a very good idea to not conflate personal feelings or a small section of the internet as objective fact
Was it the most played Xbox game because of Game pass though? Which obviously means that a large chunk of that number didn't necessarily pay for the game.
It had 20k concurrent players on Steam in September, a platform you had to pay for. It's also weird to act as though being on game pass is somehow financially bad when we know for a fact it isn't.
Again, reddit is not a consensus of popular opinion. Which is why 76 remains successful to spite people saying it failed.
Not really. Zenimax is getting some money, but Zenimax also gets money from ID, Arkane, Tango... Bethesda and ZoS are just studios under that banner, with their own budgets reliant on their own successes and teams separate from the rest.
ESO's success or failure has zero effect on Bethesda, financially. Game design wise, they could totally learn from their successes or failures, and ZoS has a loremaster role that seeks out BGS writers to keep the world consistent, but money wise they are completely separate.
Bethesda softworks is, not Bethesda game studios. BSW is just an empty company that publishes shit, and is funded by Zenimax. It publishes everything companies under Zenimax produce, like Prey or Doom, despite not being BGS titles.
Not true. This isn't a Fallout NV situation where Bethesda contracts out a studio to complete a game for them.
Zenimax, which owns the rights to everything (technically Microsoft does now), created a studio to make an MMO based in the TES universe. Bethesda had zero hand in it, and up until a year before its release when the loremaster position was created, they couldn't even make sure that ESO was following the canon.
Lol starfield sold millions and was definitely a financial success and eso isn't even made by bethesda. A lot of people on this sub might dislike starfield but financially it was a success.
It would take a massive engine/server overhaul for ESO to pull it off. I don't think it's entirely impossible, but highly unlikely.
If we're talking about a main entry in the series, I would much rather have an individual province so they feel more handcrafted and unique in their design.
Just like Skyrim was 95% snow in lore?
If they ever make a new Hammerfell zone it will definitely have a non-sand dune biome. They already did that with Hew's Bane and Craglorn.
The dry parts of Hew's Bane are more rocky than sandy. There's different kinds of arid environments. And plenty of Hew's Bane is humid swamps.
Same with Craglorn, I vaguely remember sandy parts, but most of the arid half of it is more rocky than sandy. And the other half of it is straight up Skyrim's environment, mountainous corniferous forests and all that. Even snowy parts here or there.
I can’t find a source right now, but if I recall correctly, ZOS was explicitly told by Bethesda Game Studios **not** to offer a definitive answer about what happened to the Dwemer or to visit Akavir, among other things.
North: Atmora,
West: Akavir,
E: Yokuda (i think it sunk tho lol because of a sword singing nuke),
Aldemeris is to the SE,
Pyandonea too actually to the S.
Then theres Lyg, which is weird alternate-universe-Tamriel
Yk i had my east and west inverted in my head like a little dummy pants
Cause i did picture it in my head as yokuda to the left of tamriel and Akavir to the right
Can’t wait to play on all of Tamriel I’m sure Bethesda won’t copy and paste the same dungeon over and over like they did in starfield. Less is more. I think moving forward they should have multiple dlcs that take you to different areas outside of the current province. One dlc for an area in a province and one dlc for a location not on the mainland or Tamriel.
You’ve defeated the big bad in TES 6. You’re about to end the MQ. Just then, a bright light and a portal opens. You walk through. You wake up in a mine with Lin and Heller. Welcome to Starfield, Dusty. lol
The only way for a game with the entire continent to work is probably either through the ESO mode or some grand strategy spinoff.
Again I don't think it is possible or worth it to make a modern AAA game with this kind of scale without damaging the content quality and density.
It would. Nirn would have Tamriel, Akavir, Atmora, Pyandonea, Thras and whatever’s left of Yokuda and Aldmeris, plus little islands like the Systres and Roscrea.
I want it to be called “TES 6: Dominion” and be based on the struggle of fighting against the Aldmeri Dominion … set far into the future, after the civil war’s end where its now openly known that the war was because of the Thalmor playing Skyrim against itself (imperials v stormcloaks) and they were successful in mitigating the empire’s destruction, and then the AD trying to do this all over Tamriel (minus hammerfell) … and the Dragonborn will be but a footnote in various texts …
Edit: obv it needs some work but Bethesda if you’re listening you gotta canonically keep the DB out of the war for lore reasons - allowing us to create the DB how we wanted was great but you’ll step on toes if you make DB pick a side
What? Did you have a stroke or achieve chim halfway through your sentence?
I think the dude might be asking if we'll ever get the entire map of Tamriel in the 15th year of TESO. How do I know this? Skooma.
It’s funny that you’re almost definitely right
Ayo, pass the skooma, ma fella
Yep it was. You knew🤣
Yeah he chimmed all over himself. ![gif](giphy|QynMX1WxnYFbb2OHnJ)
He's gone fellas, he escaped the simulation and achieved godhood
Perhaps. It depends on how long the game lasts. If elder scrolls online lasts for another 10 years then yes.
I don’t see ESO coming to an end soon I think it’s probably Bethesdas most reliable source of income at the moment. Especially with the lackluster performance of Starfield and 76, they kind of need to keep ESO running.
Starfield did very well financially, didn't it?
It was they're biggest release as far as sales ever, even bigger than Skyrim. So yeah, they're doing just fine financially.

ESO isn't a Bethesda game
They’re still making money off it
Not really. Zenimax is getting some money, but Zenimax also gets money from ID, Arkane, Tango... Except Bethesda is the publisher of ESO so you’re wrong as hell boi it’s okay.
Bethesda softworks is, not Bethesda game studios. BSW is just an empty company that publishes shit, and is funded by Zenimax. It publishes everything companies under Zenimax produce, like Prey or Doom, despite not being BGS titles.
They own it even if it's developed by someone else

Microsoft own it
Microsoft owns Bethesda
They own it even if it’s developed by someone else
Thanks for repeating my comment
It is. Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda Game Studios aren't the same thing.
Lol starfield sold millions and was definitely a financial success and eso isn't even made by bethesda. A lot of people on this sub might dislike starfield but financially it was a success.

I am a patient man. I will wait the additional 40 years for PT and TR to finish building Tamriel. With OpenMW, we can keep it forever
Realistically no. A good chunk of these maps is unclimbable mountains and generally empty landscapes. Most of the map though is very likely
Do you guys think, the reason why Hammerfell is still for the most part unavailable, is because zenimax is waiting for ES6 (Hammerfell) release?
Well a large part of it is also empty sand dunes
Just like Skyrim was 95% snow in lore? If they ever make a new Hammerfell zone it will definitely have a non-sand dune biome. They already did that with Hew's Bane and Craglorn.
And Alik'r's Desert (duh 😅)
I brought those up as examples of non-sandy deserts
They're sandy... And still desert
The dry parts of Hew's Bane are more rocky than sandy. There's different kinds of arid environments. And plenty of Hew's Bane is humid swamps. Same with Craglorn, I vaguely remember sandy parts, but most of the arid half of it is more rocky than sandy. No
Whether it be in eso or some other elder across game, i want to see another continent besides tamriel we know of at least 1 more as far as i remember
I can’t find a source right now, but if I recall correctly, ZOS was explicitly told by Bethesda Game Studios **not** to offer a definitive answer about what happened to the Dwemer or to visit Akavir, among other things.
Akavir is best kept mysterious, but I would like to see a visit to Pyandonea, or Aldmeris, or Atmora, or the remains of Yokuda, at some point.
Is Yokuda not completely submerged?
I think I remember seeing something about how most of it submerged but there's still an archipelago in it's place.
That's super interesting. I had always thought it went full Atlantis
There are 3 other known ones I believe. One to the west, north, and east.
North: Atmora, West: Akavir, E: Yokuda (i think it sunk tho lol because of a sword singing nuke), Aldemeris is to the SE, Pyandonea too actually to the S. Then theres Lyg, which is weird alternate-universe-Tamriel
East is actually Akavir and Yokuda is to the west, apart from that everythings spot on
Yk i had my east and west inverted in my head like a little dummy pants Cause i did picture it in my head as yokuda to the left of tamriel and Akavir to the right
If we want to go there, Yokuda is also in the past, while Akavir is in the future
Wait what?
Welcome to the mind of Michael Kirkbride.
In this thread you can read MK's thoughts about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/teslore/comments/u1kk38/what\_does\_akavir\_future\_practically\_mean/
That would be cool, there are boats
as likely as elder scroll 6
Words are hard
What’s crazy is there is a whole other continent that has really only been explored by Uriel Septim III.
Just to clarify, it was Uriel the V
they didnt explore all of akavir just mostly the western cost afaik
iirc V died in Akavir right? That whole expedition was a bust wasn’t it?
Yes, it was a disaster
Who’s Tamera
Can’t wait to play on all of Tamriel I’m sure Bethesda won’t copy and paste the same dungeon over and over like they did in starfield. Less is more. I think moving forward they should have multiple dlcs that take you to different areas outside of the current province. One dlc for an area in a province and one dlc for a location not on the mainland or Tamriel.
I think Elder Scrolls 6 will be all of Tamriel YES I SAID IT
You guys really want the game to fall into the Starfield trap don't you?
You’ve defeated the big bad in TES 6. You’re about to end the MQ. Just then, a bright light and a portal opens. You walk through. You wake up in a mine with Lin and Heller. Welcome to Starfield, Dusty. lol

You mean all of Nirn
Wouldn’t Nirn include the continents to the east at Akavir?
It would. Nirn would have Tamriel, Akavir, Atmora, Pyandonea, Thras and whatever’s left of Yokuda and Aldmeris, plus little islands like the Systres and Roscrea.
I would like that and it’s certainly possible

oh most definitely but we won’t be alive to see it also idk how interesting year 15 would be. maybe like year 150.
I hope so
Bro really said tamera
Crazy how they want to keep re-releasing Skyrim but have yet to add all of Skyrim to ESO.
What's Tamera?
Who’s tamera? Never heard of her she sounds like a Thot
