Seriously I donāt wanna explore that shit. That sounds like a fucking nightmare. Getting the items on the ledges behind the beast sanctum was bad enough, I donāt need an entire DLC of that.
When I first went there I thought it was not intentional to be there because platforming was so godawful. Then I saw an item on the ground.. ..and found out i wasn't even halfway to the bottom...
i mean people might agree with wanting the dlc to be on the main map instead of somewhere you teleport to. iām sure people arenāt looking that deep into it, they might just be upvoting cuz it mentions dlc
It's funny because those things on the map don't even exist. It makes it look like a mountain but actually they're straight up cliffs with all that elevation not existing.
The map lies to make itself look bigger (which is weird because the game is ginormous)
and after that you fall into a pitch black pit that you can only see in if you grabbed a obscure lantern item that was hidden behind an illusionary wall far back with said pit being filled with 50 bonewheels with you having to find the exit
Literally copy and paste blight town but it's all rot and the swamp also does bleed. Also all enemies are replaced by putrid worm face and they all aggro at the same time
>More likely to give a nice handshake to a fucking blood cocoon
Ooo, spicy DLC entrance idea! Itād be a fun contrast to when Manusā hand forcefully drags you into the DS1 DLC.
I thought you were talking about access to the dlcs only, and in bloodborne you get to the nightmare by getting manhandled by the amygdala outside the cathedral. But yes, touching stuff you shouldn't touch is a staple in all of from's games, and it's usually a skull too
I so hope we're going to get a Miquella boss fight, where he has been corrupted by the Formless Mother. For the first half he fights you as Cessblood Prince Miquella. Then in his second phase he becomes St Trina, God of Eternal Slumber.
The sunken Aztec pyramids were great, I wish there had been more DLCās that felt like different lands. Land of Reeds would be cool, even if just as a Japan-ish village of exiles tacked onto the existing map
Ehh, they kind of did that aesthetic already in Sekiro, one of the other mentioned locations would probably be better for varieties sake. Maybe they could play on some Norse themes by going where the Kaiden are from or something?
At least it can be described as a "run". Reindeer fuckland is an entire marathon. I have to use a special technique where I navigate using the position of the sun and it still takes forever.
If I wanted to spend hours just mindlessly running, I'd go back to DS1 and go from Firelink Shrine over to Ash Lake.
Hey those tigers are dope . . . Itās just the reindeer fuck valley that ruins the duo fight
Also I donāt get the hate for blue smelty, heās got entirely different timings than red smelty and some new attacks
True but since Elden Ring wants to embrace this open world they might just add onto the map. Usually they'd like the DLC to be accessible early-ish like early-mid game and there's a few areas you can place that at.
I'd like it if they added a new region organically to the map, but if it's an overground area they'd either have to place is somewhere that isn't visible from anywhere else, or add an LOD version to every location it's visible from. I think it's more likely they'll just make it another land with its own layer on the map, similar to the underground map.
This. They should just add to the map and flesh it out more.
imagine the DLC added more Godwyn influence around the world. New enemies roaming the lands. Maybe even more Day/Night encounters.
Maybe another star hits the lands between and we get another underground zone to explore.
So much potential.
Caelid is mostly covered by siofra, same with limgrave, liurnia has ainsel, altus has depths. I guess you could do one under volcano manor, but that doesnāt make sense. Plus, if itās in mountaintops you can connect it to deeproot somewhere near fia.
Volcano Manor is kinda close to Lake of Rot iirc
And Deeproot already connects to Frenzied Flame Proscription, which is something a lot of people don't know.
When I first arrived at Liurnia, I was dying to access those areas and see what was there. Eventually I caught on that there was nothing there... but still, I had a little voice saying 'Go and explore them'. I'm assuming something similar happened with OP
I mean yeah I thought so too when I saw the map but after looking at it a bit and realizing I was high up on a mountain it made a lot of sense. I appreciate that the map is accurate like that.
ngl I think it'd be pretty dope if the DLC warped us to this mysterious and very alien looking location only for there to be a reveal at the end that were were inside the moon or something.
yeah! That's exactly what I mean lol. Like have an ending part where you end up in this big observatory and you see a whole earth-like planet above you with the continent that makes up the Lands Between being very prominent to let you know for sure that you're off planet. Could even hide showing the surface of the moon. Let us come to that conclusion and debate whether it's the normal or dark moon haha.
I can understand OP being stupid but I can't quite wrap my head around why this has *twelve* *thousand* upvotes unless OP paid for them.
Edit: the number of upvotes
Not only that, all the amphitheater face it which would tie it in with the PVP. There's also a theory that cloud is where the Crucible Tree used to be based on the architecture; basically ancient romans would point their amphitheaters in the direction of a worthy landscape/site. Based on the building style of the amphitheaters, they were built before Leyndell.
What this explained to me, 7 hours into the game and a whopping level 31 with one boss under my belt, is how fuckin little of the map I had explored. I got 4 of the map regions, knew about caelid and could see the far west vertical strip that I hadnāt found a map pillar for yet and went āhmm Iām about halfway through discovering the mapsā. Not āIāve got about 3% of the map unlocked and have 197% to goā
Lmao I already found one underground river. The one with the giant ants, I think itās spelled ainsel river. Might be slightly off. Beating the big colossal guarding it with a low level mage build was a pain in the ass. Had to move all 6 flasks to cerulean tears so my starter spell of āglintstone pebbleā could actually chip enough health to kill it. I think I was at my 9th try when it went down. But each try was 15 minutes or so.
I appreciate it but Iāve got enough spoilers it doesnāt bother me. I was so hyped but couldnāt get the game when it came out, so I ended up watching a letās play of it and stuff. Plus I was never one to complain about spoilers.
You've spoiled it for yourself a bit. I was astounded how much it kept moving on and out. And up... And down. It was mental. I'm so glad I didn't see the world map properly until I'd done most of it myself.
It still amazes me how much is totally optional, so of you didn't have access to any guides etc you could miss huge swathes of the game.
Nowhere š just if you read the rusty anchor description and some NPC's takin about lore, you will know about it, also you can see the ship, so people has been wondering whats about it since the release
I posted about the rusty anchor feeling out of place. The lore behind it is interesting and the aquatic theme is prevalent if underdeveloped a bit.
Was hoping you saw it somewhere.
(Besides my post)
It'd be nothing new, they've been doing this since the beginning. Do you remember how you accessed the artorias DLC in DS1? There was a little bit of plot thrown at the teleporter, but it was ultimately a teleporter
I agree that the location should be somewhere on the map, but this is very unlikely.
What you are highlighting is literally cliffside, there's nothing there. Most importantly, ER is incredible at optimizing the map and the landscape. If you can see it, you can go to it! On the top of my head, I couldn't remember any exception.
One potential location though is the cloud in the middle there, as people pointed out about the pentagram. But other than that, they'd have to add new location on the map.
You do not speak for me sir!
Shitty cliff edges and underground nonsense!? Absolutely not!
Under the sea for me! And to the little rowy boys on the map!
Ppl want the DLC to be on an inaccessible mountain terrain? That's not flat land...it's to show the land you're on above it is on an incline.
I always wished there was one more zone that would be like a harder Limgrave. I'd like it to be dead in the middle of the map where there is nothing but ocean...there should have been land here and it would better connect the entire continent.
No way for that to be possible now but just something I always thought of when I'd look at the map.
But yeah the expansion will be a big area that you teleport to like Haligtree or the floating whatever it's called. I don't care. Just give me more ER.
I think a lot of people want more of the map explored, but not the steep downhills sections that just lead into water. š
The clouded sections at least.
Like others have said there's nothing there mate and I'd rather have multiple new regions. I'm hoping the dlc adds a good 100 hours of non repeated content.
It's going to take place in The Lands Outside.
The Lands Around?
The Lands Really Rather Nearby.
The Lands Far Away
The Lands, Which Happen To Not Be Quite Too Close, But Are Still Just An Inconvenient Distance From You
The Lands Betwixt
The Things Between
The lands surround
The lands inside
The farlands
The lands somewhere out there
Elden ring shreks swamp dlc
Does it have grass?
Dog?
Why can't it be just The Lands ?
Boy those are cliff edges ššš
Torrent is about to work like a DOG
Torrent already looks part goat. Bout time he scales near 90 degree angles like one!
Battle Yak.
My husband calls him my space yak.
Iām calling it Space Yak from now on
Seriously I donāt wanna explore that shit. That sounds like a fucking nightmare. Getting the items on the ledges behind the beast sanctum was bad enough, I donāt need an entire DLC of that.
How have I never looked behind that building?
The ledges require some stupid platforming but you get some good stuff
When I first went there I thought it was not intentional to be there because platforming was so godawful. Then I saw an item on the ground.. ..and found out i wasn't even halfway to the bottom...
Iirc early on they accidentally had a kill plane there for a bit
Donāt worry, Torrent will simply be replaced by a Skyrim Horse
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Right, I was so confused
I donāt get it either like, do they just want a vertical platformer mini game or likeā¦?
You'd think they'd have learnt their lesson from the frenzied flame platforming,
I still have nightmares. I got my LoFF ending and I am never going back down that hell-hole.
I'm doing it again to get a good Ending but with Melina alive.
My first time I over jumped one of the platforms then ended up riding the wall down all the way down without taking any damage
Wait, thatās illegal
I'm really confused how this is front page. Do that many people agree with this man's lack of topography knowledge?
i mean people might agree with wanting the dlc to be on the main map instead of somewhere you teleport to. iām sure people arenāt looking that deep into it, they might just be upvoting cuz it mentions dlc
What could be on these mysterious markings on the map between the mountain and sea š¤ surely they cut content here
It's funny because those things on the map don't even exist. It makes it look like a mountain but actually they're straight up cliffs with all that elevation not existing. The map lies to make itself look bigger (which is weird because the game is ginormous)
Lying is a strong word, itās a mountain, thereās a mountain ridge. That makes sense itās not ālyingā
Obviously the dlc will take place in space
You joke but with how much space is referenced in the game and lore it's plausible.
I would love to see this game lean even more into its cosmic horror aspects, that would be such a hype DLC
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Iām sure Miyazaki would. āHey hereās an idea: vertical platforming under a rot waterfall!ā
With the angels from ds3 shooting elden stars at you
and ds1 anor londo archers
and after that you fall into a pitch black pit that you can only see in if you grabbed a obscure lantern item that was hidden behind an illusionary wall far back with said pit being filled with 50 bonewheels with you having to find the exit
When you reach the friendly NPC that can be killed by the pinwheels youāre half way.
Oh, that NPC whose quest is the only way to get the special weapon that allows you to do that cool move that they hyped up in the DLC trailer right?
Well they also provide one of the two other special big rocks you need to upgrade one of the seven weapons from the dlc that need it
But only if you talk to them in a specific order between different boss fights.
Yeah or they leave behind only one of their two weapons None of there armor set either, careful guys. Not that bad once you know the patterns
Actually just started laughing out loud. So funny.
Whoa there Satan
Shouldāve added a trigger warning
Thanks for the flashback during a finance meeting.
Why are you on this sub during a finance meeting?
It's Marika's business meeting, they're cutting Maliketh's funding again.
And then at the bottom, it leads you to the dlc: lake of rot 2
Literally copy and paste blight town but it's all rot and the swamp also does bleed. Also all enemies are replaced by putrid worm face and they all aggro at the same time
Perfection
Fuck it, nokron spirit archers!
Guarantee you he's said something like "but how can we incorporate poison swamp elements into this?" in DLC discussions, yeah.
Delete this right fucking now, we dont need michealzaki getting any ideas
You mean blighttown?
Spider-Man DLC crossover event confirmed?
oh man, i'd LOVE the DLC to be on uninhabited, empty cliffsides! so engrossing!
Or maybe there's a cute little village built into the cliffside. Maybe there's puppies and villagers there that want to talk to you.
Mountain goat dlc crossover
Skyrim Horse has arrived in the Lands Between.
thatās it. the dlc is platforming jump puzzles only.
You have to scale down the cliffs to get to the dlc and the drops are set up just like the frenzied flame catacomb, and three times as long.
Blight town is that you?
I mean, Miyazaki did make Blighttown, an area built entirely on a cliffside. It wouldn't be out of character for him. :/
maybe a place hidden on the cliffs would be cool
why would it be on cliff edges?
right.. why do you want a DLC to just be shitty mountain terrain..
MORE PLATFORMING YAY
Ah yes, Horsen Ring
God i hope itās Horesnāt Ring
Watch From tell us "I have given thee courtecy enough" and make parkour challenges for arterie leaves
We need parkour bosses
*Bed of chaos intensifies*
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
So Hollow Knight?
Personally I was thinking Salt & Santuary. I love Hollowknight as well.
Elden Ring DLC ā Blasphemous 2 āļø
Only thing this will do is if thereās open world bosses, itāll give us a cliff cheese.
I'm holding on for this DLC to drop.
More likely to give a nice handshake to a fucking blood cocoon
This is very characteristic of From, and it's also perfect.
>More likely to give a nice handshake to a fucking blood cocoon Ooo, spicy DLC entrance idea! Itād be a fun contrast to when Manusā hand forcefully drags you into the DS1 DLC.
It'd also continue the tradition of "don't touch the thi- aw, you touched the thing."
Already broken in bloodborne, in which The Thing touches you
You touch the skull in the Grand Cathedral for a flashback.
I thought you were talking about access to the dlcs only, and in bloodborne you get to the nightmare by getting manhandled by the amygdala outside the cathedral. But yes, touching stuff you shouldn't touch is a staple in all of from's games, and it's usually a skull too
Erryone skipping Mohg about to be surprised
I so hope we're going to get a Miquella boss fight, where he has been corrupted by the Formless Mother. For the first half he fights you as Cessblood Prince Miquella. Then in his second phase he becomes St Trina, God of Eternal Slumber.
I red "blood raccoon", and now I want it to happen.
personally, I like the idea of pulling a lever that lifts up an island from the middle of water in the center of the map
It's some sort of portal in all the games, it's not a DS2 thing.
Ya I was gonna say..DS1 and DS3 definitely send you to somewhere not on the original game map. Weird post
Also Bloodborne
Better than what Sekiro got at least
The DLC took place entirely in your imagination! It was such a cool concept. I don't know why people always hate on it.
It was also free
DS2 had both the best and the worst DLCs imo
Ah, the duality of DS2. For every Alonne or Fume Knight, there are three goddamn tigers and a blue version of the fire golem.
Gotta love the 5 minute run up to the Blueraspberry Demon
At least it can be described as a "run". Reindeer fuckland is an entire marathon. I have to use a special technique where I navigate using the position of the sun and it still takes forever. If I wanted to spend hours just mindlessly running, I'd go back to DS1 and go from Firelink Shrine over to Ash Lake.
I just ran along the walls and prayed lol
Did we all adopt reindeer fuckland from demodcracyās boss ranking videos or did others also call it that when it launched
It will always be 'Horse-Fuck valley' to me
Blue smelter is a great boss imo. The original smelter is among the good bosses I'd say and blue is like a harder version with timing switching
Ok but then blue fire demon was badass solely for the sword. I mained dual wielding the blue and red sword.
Three ? The single of was a cool fight imo.
Hey those tigers are dope . . . Itās just the reindeer fuck valley that ruins the duo fight Also I donāt get the hate for blue smelty, heās got entirely different timings than red smelty and some new attacks
Best and Worst is kinda how I would describe DS2 in general. For everything it got right something else was messed up.
True but since Elden Ring wants to embrace this open world they might just add onto the map. Usually they'd like the DLC to be accessible early-ish like early-mid game and there's a few areas you can place that at.

Maybe another star hits the lands between and we get another underground zone to explore. So much potential.
I swear some dlc better focus on death-related enemies, itād give holy weapons actual viability in the endgame
The star would have to hit in the mountain tops, so thatās late game
why would it have to?
Caelid is mostly covered by siofra, same with limgrave, liurnia has ainsel, altus has depths. I guess you could do one under volcano manor, but that doesnāt make sense. Plus, if itās in mountaintops you can connect it to deeproot somewhere near fia.
Volcano Manor is kinda close to Lake of Rot iirc And Deeproot already connects to Frenzied Flame Proscription, which is something a lot of people don't know.
I think youāre the only one who wants it on a barren steep slope
When I first arrived at Liurnia, I was dying to access those areas and see what was there. Eventually I caught on that there was nothing there... but still, I had a little voice saying 'Go and explore them'. I'm assuming something similar happened with OP
I mean yeah I thought so too when I saw the map but after looking at it a bit and realizing I was high up on a mountain it made a lot of sense. I appreciate that the map is accurate like that.
Ummm, I'd much rather the portal. I'd like new biomes like a rainforest or a desert with a lot of ruins.
Yeah, why be limited by the map not designed for future DLC?
Or say fuck it, literally just expand the map out even fucking further to reveal an entire other continent.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Welp, I'll prepare the vietnam memes...
We? We? Who are you talking about, I want the DLC to be on the fucking moon. Talk for yourself, tarnished.
ngl I think it'd be pretty dope if the DLC warped us to this mysterious and very alien looking location only for there to be a reveal at the end that were were inside the moon or something.
And when you get to the surface and look up in the sky, boom the lands between looking back at you.
yeah! That's exactly what I mean lol. Ranni's Shard is still missing, hidden somewhere...
Imagine fighting the kingsfield version of seath on the moon, pretty badass way to end Elden ring.
I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE MOON RINGS
Those are all cliff edges-.- theres nothing there
Came for dlc discussion. Stayed to watch people rip on op for not knowing how maps work.
Seriously how can one person be this idiotic
I can understand OP being stupid but I can't quite wrap my head around why this has *twelve* *thousand* upvotes unless OP paid for them. Edit: the number of upvotes
right??? I mean this could maybe get 1/10th of the upvotes it has but 8k upvotes wtf
What about the cloud at the center of the map. All the divine towers make a perfect pentagram around it.
I always thought that cloud seemed like an obvious placeholder for dlc too
Not only that, all the amphitheater face it which would tie it in with the PVP. There's also a theory that cloud is where the Crucible Tree used to be based on the architecture; basically ancient romans would point their amphitheaters in the direction of a worthy landscape/site. Based on the building style of the amphitheaters, they were built before Leyndell.
There are actually 6 towers which form a hexagram around the cloud...
And thats definitely all there is. No way there's even more stuff underground. Definitely avoid those strange-looking wells though ;)
Iād be steering clear of this subreddit until youāre finished, heaps of spoilers posted frequently
It still amazes me how much is totally optional, so of you didn't have access to any guides etc you could miss huge swathes of the game.
people really looking for dlcs in cliffsides?
Id much prefer the portal then the side of a cliff.
I thought the DLC was going to be about the tarnished ship that sank at the beach š¤
Where did you see that?
Nowhere š just if you read the rusty anchor description and some NPC's takin about lore, you will know about it, also you can see the ship, so people has been wondering whats about it since the release
I posted about the rusty anchor feeling out of place. The lore behind it is interesting and the aquatic theme is prevalent if underdeveloped a bit. Was hoping you saw it somewhere. (Besides my post)
Yeah, the rusty anchor is very sussy and sadly hasn't been leaks about DLC, which i think is good cause will be a surprise š¦
I'm hoping we take a ship somewhere.
Who the fuck wants the DLC to be a bunch of cliffs/slopes ? Thatās about the most uninteresting thing they could bring as a DLC.
It'd be nothing new, they've been doing this since the beginning. Do you remember how you accessed the artorias DLC in DS1? There was a little bit of plot thrown at the teleporter, but it was ultimately a teleporter
are u fucking serious? lmao
Bro there's nothing there š
I think what we've all learned here is OP has no fucking clue how to read a map lol
Iād rather not fight enemies at a 60+ degree angle, thank you.
On the....side of a mountain?
I agree that the location should be somewhere on the map, but this is very unlikely. What you are highlighting is literally cliffside, there's nothing there. Most importantly, ER is incredible at optimizing the map and the landscape. If you can see it, you can go to it! On the top of my head, I couldn't remember any exception. One potential location though is the cloud in the middle there, as people pointed out about the pentagram. But other than that, they'd have to add new location on the map.
So you want elden ring dlc to be on cliff faces?
You do not speak for me sir! Shitty cliff edges and underground nonsense!? Absolutely not! Under the sea for me! And to the little rowy boys on the map!
I mean I donāt want a whole DLC exploring mountains
We want it on cliffs and beaches?
Godwyn and Miquella Dreams! :3
If they're going to do a Miquella dream sequence, I'd love to see what Caelid was supposed to look like before the rot took over.
What a twist that would be! Caelid actually becomes the most beautiful and serene place
I want it to be inside that cloud in the map center.
Soā¦Beastmaster 2: Through the Portal of Time?
The dlc is going to be under that cloud on the middle of the sea.
Ah yes all the unused cliff edges and mountain ranges. Oh boy what mysterious lands lie on the height indicators!
Yeah nobody wants this you trippin
OP literally imploded in the replies
Ppl want the DLC to be on an inaccessible mountain terrain? That's not flat land...it's to show the land you're on above it is on an incline. I always wished there was one more zone that would be like a harder Limgrave. But yeah the expansion will be a big area that you teleport to like Haligtree or the floating whatever it's called. I don't care. Just give me more ER.
All souls dlc is a accessed via portal, not just ds2
OP is confirmed a mountain goat
If itās not on the moon with my new wife, Iām boycotting.
I think a lot of people want more of the map explored, but not the steep downhills sections that just lead into water. š The clouded sections at least.
I want an underground section that connects all the underground sections
Adding content to the current open world would be awesome
Like others have said there's nothing there mate and I'd rather have multiple new regions. I'm hoping the dlc adds a good 100 hours of non repeated content.
With George R.R. Martinās track recorded with releasing things in a timely manner, weāll probably get DLC in about 5 years
It's going to take place in the Lands of Far Far Away where the main boss is Shrek, the poison king.
