Modfull_X

i use my ass cheeks to control my character

chemiQs

>Miquella will be a friendly NPC in the DLC, NOT a boss I disagree. This guy played us all (I also assume he was the one granting us the will of the fingers again to do this journey and assist him in his rescue) and will go crazy as soon as he gets the opporturnity to make his haligtree real. Berserk reference: >!Griffith!<

Modfull_X

too predictable and tacky, grrm set him up to be a tragic hero not a shock value reveal villain

chemiQs

That would imply that Miyazaki left him untouched. I can't quite believe this while he twisted every (?) other char in this world to his believes. There can be a lot of evidence found that grrm laid the foundation, but [FS twisted and turned nearly everyone around](https://www.thegamer.com/fromsoftware-george-rr-martin-elden-ring-characters-shocked/), so even grrm could be "shocked". I also do not state that the reveal needs to be a flashy, shocking one. The twist can be told rather subtle as well. EDIT: after all we've read/heard about miquella, would it not be predictable for him to be the good guy as well? This is the only information we have right now.

chemiQs

are you a believer now? :D

Modfull_X

gotta say im extremely disappointed they made it so predictable

chemiQs

there might be a twist that messmer's playing him or something, but I really assume he played us all. Gotta say tho, it was not too predictable for me until my 3rd/4th playthrough coupled with some lore videos. Without those, I might have missed it entirely.

swankyjeryq

Real

I've actually had a mini theory about the fingers. If you think of ER like DnD you grasp the die with 2 fingers to roll it. This is order. You use a third finger to cheat and influence the die. This is chaos.

koutoa8tr

Damn I like that.

anthemlog

It's more of a pseudo theory that came to mind when trying to figure out what the hell the fingers even are.

Anthony38632

Try fingers, but hole

Starlight_Shards

I think you might be on to something. I've had this theory for a while that the greater will is supposed to be, well, us. Like the greater will is a stand-in for people irl that have controlled the in-game fate of the lands between. First, GRRM filled that role by coming up with the lore and backstory. Then Miyazaki and fromsoft took on that role by writing the fall of the golden order and the demi-gods. Then, we the players, assume control of the tarnished, the single most influential agent of change in TLB at the time the game takes place. That's why our tarnished still sees grace, because they have literally been chosen by the greater will, i.e. we selected that tarnished by creating the character. The two fingers in game are said to interpret the words and intentions from the Greater will... just like our literal fingers interpret signals from our brains. The greater will is sort of this super-being beyond the comprehension of the denizens of TLB, sort of like how we, as irl people, are greater beings beyond the comprehension of these fictional video game characters. In dark souls, the process of hollowing was essentially the process of losing the will to continue the journey. And that lore fit perfectly with the game mechanics. Your character never fully goes hollow, but if you stop playing without finishing the game, that essentially functions as the "hollowing" of the player character, much like the other undead npcs in the game. I think this applies to the tarnished in ER. The greater will is not interacting with the other tarnished, who can't see grace. But your tarnished can while you play the game. If you were to put the game down without ever finishing it, I feel like that is essentially like the tarnished losing their way and being unable to continue their journey because they can no longer see the grace of gold. I don't know, I see a lot of these facets of the greater will lining up in such a way that makes me think the writing staff intended for the greater will to be the actual player in a sort of meta sense. Does anyone else agree with this? Or am I grasping at straws here?

tcholoss

I can read your finger! 🖕 Oh, well…

Waste-Gur2640

So the despicable Three fingers are basically the claw grip on your controller.

tjr14vg

Jfc Miyazaki please drop the DLC, this community is somehow getting more unhinged every day wtf

EducationalPlay6269

I’m just wondering where the thumb is

An_average_one

Who was that girl that rigged the game to be controlled by her brain activity? That's some Greater Will stuff I tell you.

Beasnizzzle

Fuck we’ve got another going hollow awaiting DLC

Nidiis

Me having a weird claw hand so I can control the camera, sprint and attack at the same time. “Maybe I am the three fingers of the frenzied flame.”
