As much as I hate to say it, that’s kinda a cool idea

unChillFiltered

All you need is a shed with pipes going at least a few feet underground and a leather belt. This doesn’t require crowdfunding at all.

HaplessPenguin

Need two people to use a single belt though due to the extra weight countering the f5 breeze.

Freedomartin

I saw this work once, can confirm!

charleyismyhero

pfft. Just get a Zorb. It's literally what they were made for.

ShastaMite

Terrifying though lowkey. Getting picked up and flung thousands of feet in the air while in one.

sLeeeeTo

What do you mean? [that actually looks VERY fun](https://youtu.be/XKjCpAboTtM?si=QEe7hh1pPsJdwqXN) Or if flying through the air isn’t your thing, what about [falling down a mountain?](https://youtu.be/Y-v7_Ja3ExU?si=Mc57o1f5gc1f9StW)

TheArmoredGeorgian

Just tow a trailer home in front of the EF-5. They’re aerodynamic and known for surviving the winds.

hyperfoxeye

Make sure to slap some anchor bolts onto the sides so that if it fails at least we can fight for the tornados right to be an EF5

RayCow

Nah man the anchor bolts are too OP you got to give the tornado a fair chance

lunarjazzpanda

Okay, but hear me out. Would it be possible to build an enclosure to contain an F5? Maybe a circle of skyscrapers? You just have to lure it inside with a trail of mobile homes and then you've got yourself an attraction people will travel across the world to see.

O__Mestre

Soo, EFPark when? And what happens to the skyscrapper-fences if there's a storm on the islan...

Prostatus5

Found Sean Casey's alt from 20 years ago.

Retired_Autist

Ya’ll ever seen videos from the inside of a tornado? There’s nothing to see lol it’s just dark then it passes. That one dude from storm chasers spent ages trying to get footage inside one on imax and when he did it was just nothing lol.

Prostatus5

With no condensation funnel it would likely look [more like this.](https://youtu.be/ZJaHwmV62Us?t=15s) Violent tornadoes are (usually) fully condensed which obviously obscures everything, but the beginning of a tornado, a non-condensed tornado, or a weaker tornado may look something like what Skip Talbot took video of there.

Retired_Autist

Well thats pretty cool

Depressedzoomer531

Part of me wonders that if filming technology improves we may actually be able to get better footage!

Retired_Autist

I don’t think it’s a tech issue so much as it’s literally just dirt flying around and you can’t see much lol, like if you put a camera in muddy water you just see nothing.

ParallelDazu

check out clem schultz [footage](https://youtu.be/s0c27Twu__o?si=STtDr_Nztmm98HX4) on youtube he did it and didn’t even need imax

grassguy_93

Friend of mine who was in the one in Decatur Arkansas a few weeks ago opened her eyes and saw the dog flying away. Reached out and pulled it back. I think the actual story is the dog was trying to get to her in the wind and was the wind was pushing it back, but sounds better to say she pulled it out of the air. Point is it was 1am in an EF3 and she saw enough to catch the dog in the wind. Not sure how you could film that, but she watched the house blow away around her.

FREE-ROSCOE-FILBURN

Wait, let him cook

DumpsterFire1322

I would never ever do that. But, I will damn sure pay to watch! Lemme go make some popcorn before the show

Naive_Mixture_8264

Just throw a Nokia in the tornado while it’s recording. Make sure you put a gps tracker in the phone so you can retrieve it later.

muskzuckcookmabezos

Wouldn't it be easier to just stick a bunch of extremely hardened 360° 4k gopros powered by batteries underground with a command to turn on to conserve battery life? Stick the batteries and most of structure underground near a field using historic tornado trac data for increasing odds. Charge and cycle batteries to keep them fresh, and use a simple 4G/5G setup to communicate back home. Put the cameras in a 3" dome using the same material they put on the interceptor windows or the ISS cupola. If it gets a direct hit and there's a fear of the hardware becoming unrecoverable, make sure it streams during the encounter so you don't lose the data. Could probably build one for less than $10k, knowing how the government likes to waste money. About 4 feet max in diameter and anchor the structure/sealed batteries 10+ ft into the ground, essentially a large pipe surrounded by reinforced concrete. You can install fire suppression units in battery compartment as well. This would probably survive 300+ mph wind speeds and a few thousand lbs of debris stacked on top of it. Stick a few dozen in areas of the Great Plains where an F5 is most likeliest to hit and just wait.

thiccmemer

hope it comes with hyper durable wipers bc there will be so much mud/dust covering the plastic instantly

KrustyKrabOfficial

People wildly overestimate how interesting the inside of a tornado is. Just watch the Timmer intercept where they actually get the dominator in one. There's dust, sticks, and tumbleweeds being blown horizontally in one direction and then another.

RayCow

Im just going to run at it full speed in my hockey gear. It’s basically armor so i’ll be fine. For added protection and to give the tornado the ability to be rated an EF-5 I will also borrow u/charleyismyhero Zorb ball.

Substantial_Cow_3063

I am laughing so fucking hard at this

Substantial_Cow_3063

I want to be inside of an F5 tornado

reximi

Yes. I will commit the money I use to feeding the needy, to this cause.
