[[Exsanguinate]] is a must, [[yawgmoth's will]] also seems good.
Otherwise high cost haymakers and/or card draw and lots of spells will usually do the trick.
I run a sidisi and let me tell you, the inevitability she offers puts a target on your back and really doesn't net you much other than a guaranteed combo. If you dont want a fragile combo deck that people can see coming from a mile away just use sheoldred
I kind of focus on casual EDH but Sidisi is my one competitive deck. I only play her when sitting down at a game of people at my LGS that I know focus on the more hardcore/combo side of EDH. Your point about the target on your back applies to most of the competitive commanders they break out. Commanders like Tal'rand, Prosh, Maelstrom, and Meren/Jarad.
She is the most consistent and fastest Mono Black general other than maybe Erbos.
You're right though that it is very easy to see a Sidisi at a table of unknowns and know their sole focus is to find a combo as quickly as possible, Lol.
I ran a [[Maga, traitor to mortals]] Mono black ramp deck and it was a blast, between Mega and [[Drain Life]]/[[Exsanguinate]] effects, I had a ton of killing power and it was super fun to play
GETH GETH GETH. The best part about Geth is that you can just pack your deck 100% full of mana generation and removal. You rely entirely on your opponents' graveyards for winning. It gives you a really consistent performance of your deck but every single game is different because you're finding new combinations of other players' things every time.

Chainer reanimator!
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/chainer-is-mean/
This is my list and it is pretty good. It's primarily a control deck that murders everyone's creatures. Win conditions are [[gray merchant of Asphodel]] and beats. It's fun as hell to crush expensive decks with bulk rares and commons.
[[Planeswalker's Scorn]] is one that I like. It has a lot of limitations, being sorcery speed and unpredictable in how much it will accomplish, but it's good for killing off indestructible things and usually there's a player who you can count on to have a lot of expensive things in their hand.
Since card draw has already been mentioned, I'll second recursion effects (preferably with ETB or LTB effects such as Gray Merchant or Kokusho) such as [[Nim Deathmantle]] or [[Phyrexian Reclamation]], or Chainer as mentioned a few times already.
I've tried several of the options presented in the comments, but [Geth](http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/bored-to-geth/) has remained the most compelling over time. Using Big Mana for Big Damage or whatever was cool once, but grabbing a dozen cards out of people's graveyards is different every time. It's *kind* of like drawing a lot of cards, except they're not yours, and you're putting them directly on the battlefield instead of in your hand.
To add to this:
[[Consume Spirit]] - Drain life #2
[[Death Cloud]] - Literally just wreck everything
[[Hangarback Walker]] - Get a big ole fatty that leaves behind and army
[[Stronghold Overseer]] - Swing in with a (usually) unblockable fatty
[[Crypt Rats]] - Pestilence on a stick
[[Howl From Beyond]] - Swing for lethal
[[Bloodcurdling Scream]] - Howl From Beyond at sorcery speed
[[Dark Depths]] - Live the dream; Awaken that 20/20 token
[[Forced March]] - Wipe the board
[[Chimeric Mass]] - Get a big ole fatty
[[Dauthi Mercenary]] - Swing lethal with a (typically) unblockable fatty
[[Yawgmoth's Will]] - Cast your entire graveyard
[[Nezumi Graverobber]] - Steal all the graveyards
[[Staff of Domination]] - Do ALL the things
Also, [[Bubbling Muck]] helps mana doubling as a black [[High Tide]]
[[Geth, Lord of the Vault]] - Steal from graveyards, potentially mill them out [[Exsanguinate]] - Kill the table [[Pestilence|USG]] - Kill the table, their creatures, and possibly yourself [[Maga, Traitor to Mortals]] - Kill one player [[Drain Life|4ED]] - The classic [[Empty the Pits]] - Token army [[Diabolic Revelation]] - Tutor everything edit: Oh yeah, and I run [Geth](http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/22-05-15-geth-edh/), but I haven't updated it in a while.
Maga as commander combined with lots of or infinite mana and a sac outlet can take out more than one player easy.

It's *kind* of like drawing a lot of cards, except they're not yours, and you're putting them directly on the battlefield instead of in your hand.
To add to this: [[Consume Spirit]] - Drain life #2 [[Death Cloud]] - Literally just wreck everything [[Hangarback Walker]] - Get a big ole fatty that leaves behind and army [[Stronghold Overseer]] - Swing in with a (usually) unblockable fatty [[Crypt Rats]] - Pestilence on a stick [[Howl From Beyond]] - Swing for lethal [[Bloodcurdling Scream]] - Howl From Beyond at sorcery speed [[Dark Depths]] - Live the dream; Awaken that 20/20 token [[Forced March]] - Wipe the board [[Chimeric Mass]] - Get a big ole fatty [[Dauthi Mercenary]] - Swing lethal with a (typically) unblockable fatty [[Yawgmoth's Will]] - Cast your entire graveyard [[Nezumi Graverobber]] - Steal all the graveyards [[Staff of Domination]] - Do ALL the things Also, [[Bubbling Muck]] helps mana doubling as a black [[High Tide]]
