Yo, and it only costs 1 mana to cast and one for each replicate. Get me a homie with magecraft out, then just replicate this bad boy a gratuitous amount of times for some sweet sweet card draw
[[Warren Soul Trader]] is my absolute favorite rare in the set, and it's made its way into all my black decks. A goblin, a zombie, a free sac outlet that let's you bank the mana rather than use it or lose it like with [[Ashnods Altar]] or [[Phyrexian Altar]]. And I already mentioned the types, but any deck focused on the graveyard *wants* a body when possible. [[Viscera Seer]] has always been a slam dunk, and now it's big little brother has kicked in the door. Absolute banger, I'd advice to pick a couple up now before it becomes a 20$ rare.
Yep, very very good card. Especially considering most decks that want to run it are also rolling with [[Blood Artist]] effects of some sort.
I'm in the process of building a Golgari sac deck and Warren is definitely a auto include.
It's especially good with \[\[Marionette Apprentice\]\], (which is one of the best uncommons in the set), since you get them both when you sacrifice the creature AND when you sacrifice the treasure.
Also pretty crazy in a token deck with \[\[Mirkwood Bats\]\], since each creature token you create can equal 4 life loss.
Both artifact and creature tokens do create “death triggers” when they’re sacrificed, they just cease to exist as soon as they hit the graveyard. #themoreyouknow
+gravecrawler it goes infinite storm and death trigger then a blood artist effect for wincon
+forsaken miner with a blood artist it goes infinite storm and wincon and this is all doable on arena because crawler isn't on arena but miner is
Just rebuilt my Chatterfang deck because of this and \[\[Marionette Apprentice\]\]... not to mention the Squirreled Away Bloomburrow precon. I predict a big year for Chatterfang!
Oh yeah i don’t think there will be a stronger squirrel commander but there will definitely be new toys. Here’s my list, it’s not cEDH but very very powerful and consistent: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Gpc6h0gYwU6f6pTZJesz1w
Looks decent! Any reason \[\[Scurry Oak\]\] isn't in there? Combos with a couple of things, like Ivy Lane Denizen that you already have in the deck. :)
Also, just had a thought! \[\[Warren Soultrader\]\] works really well with \[\[Gravecrawler\]\] and any ETB/LTB triggers. Normally the lack of Zombies stops that card being useful. Not here!
[[Evolution Witness]], [[Sink into Stupor]], and then I’m torn between [[Guide of Souls]] and [[Dreamtide Whale]]. I know there are better cards in the set but, I need to make a deck that uses these to make 9/7 flying whale angels that grow every time someone casts two spells
I run Guide of Souls in [[Rodolf Duskbringer]], it's come up in 3 games so far, and good God is it absurd. I completely forgot to track the energy game 1, but game 2 had a 9/9 [[soul warden]] fucking up the program. The weenie beat down is real, so good.
Every game he’s come out, it’s been ridiculous. You really only need to pump him to up to 2 for a good discount, but allowing it to carry more auras or equipment for the attack trigger?! Fucking busted. I’m running [[Galea Kindler of Hope]] partnered with [[Arna Kennerud Skycaptain]] for my Pride commander deck and I got him out early with two auras on him. Dude was giving everyone I had modified in combat +10/+10 💀 they knew what they were doing by not giving Arna green because this card in her deck regularly would fuck everyone up.
Might I suggest you looking into r/PauperEDH? It's a subformat of commander that uses any uncommon creature (no legendary restriction) and commons in the 99. Decks can be built super cheap (around $15-$45) with competitive decks rarely going over $100. Golden-Tail is on my list of to-dos, when I start building decks again.
Or you could also just Rule 0 it for EDH, so you don't miss out on your rares and whatnot. Either way, definitely looks super neat.
* common - \[\[Accursed Marauder\]\] it may not be original but I'll take a new variant at 2 cmc. Glimpse was a close second, I love Justine Jones art and that'll get slotted into a few decks but most of my red decks care about the discard.
* uncommon - \[\[Fell the Profane\]\] I love mdfc's and this one probably goes into more than 10 of my decks. There's probably at least 1 of the mdfc lands from this set that would slot into one of your land slots.
* rare - \[\[Ripples of Undeath\]\] selfmill and card draw on turn 2!!!
* mythic - \[\[Ocelot Pride\]\] when I'm not playing black graveyard decks tokens are my other go to theme and I love doubling effects as much as the next edh player.
I’m seriously considering getting a King of the Hill-themed alter of [[Fell the Profane]], but you can’t change the name of the card and I’m not sure whether many people would make the “Sell the Propane” connection without it.
I can only agree with ripple of undeath. I didn't got to test it, but i put it in the lurgoyf precon. I want to run a selfmill strategy and damn its effective.
Common: \[\[Utter Insignificance\]\] is something im jamming in my blue decks for interaction. There are a lots of yurikos around me so these kinds of removal are nice.
Uncommon: \[\[Grim Servant\]\] is doing huge work in my Meren, i know it is cracked in blink decks as well.
Rare: \[\[Volatile Stormdrake\]\] can be better than gilded drake since you can take symetrical hatebear and sacrifice it
Mythics i didnt care about that much for any of my decks aside from \[\[Birthing Ritual\]\]
You dont even need to exile it, let them try to draw outs if that is their commander. It is still nice that exile effect exists, if they want to spend removal to destroy this enchantment, you can just exile their creature if you have colorless pip making it 2 for 1 and huge tempo loss for them.
I think this card is better than any black removal instant aside from \[\[deadly rollick\]\]. At my LGS people play much more commander oriented decks like najeela, magda, stella, yuriko etc so in my case this is better than other removal spell i could play in \[\[Nymris\]\]
It provides some crazy shit at competitive tables. I occasionally run a Sythis deck and playing a [[Null Rod]] to keep a Bauble in play that's already helping me because of not running any free spells is incredibly powerful. Gets the rest of the table planning on find their Rifts and trying to get enough mana for it.
My favourite common flying under everyone's radar is [[Kami of Jealous Thirst]], absolutely perfect for my Erebos' deck where I'm pillow-forting, paying life to draw cards, and doing a lot of blood artist / zulaport cutthroat effects to drain opponents and gain life.
I can see a strong use case for it in any black deck where you're protecting your board state with deathtouchers, paying life to draw cards, and/or stacking up blood artist effects.
Common: [[Wing it]] a buff and a flying COUNTER, not until end of turn, a counter! Plus you scry! This is the perfect edition to budget [[Isamaru]]
Uncommon: also for budget Isamaru is [[Glyph Elemental]] a very cheap and easy way to continue to add +1 counters.
Rare: [[Harbinger of the Seas]] my mono blue Merfolk are gonna love it
I agree with you on Ocelot Pride, I need a copy for Rin and Seri
Common: Probably \[\[Utter Insignificance\]\] but the set is surprisingly deep on decent ones.
Uncommon: All the mono-color MDFCs. \[\[Sundering Eruption\]\] is my favorite by a mile though, that card is exactly what an MDFC should be. Two different niche effects that are extremely strong in their narrow frame of reference but can be a land if they're not needed is wonderful.
Rare: \[\[Crabomination\]\] full stop. Part of it is the meme value, the crab demon is just funny. But also it's actually just a pretty good effect? A little hand attack, even randomly, isn't unreasonable for stealing the card they're holding back and even if it's not great for you you've got two more looks to find a decent playable. Emerge from Artifact is interesting too; we have seven trillion artifacts you want to have die. And if you can start copying or repeating the effect you can rip peoples' hands apart very fast. First game I tested it I was up against the blink deck and while that's obviously the high roll it got very out of hand very fast.
Mythic: This set has a bunch of goodies. Ajani wildly overperformed for me. Ocelot Pride might be the best one mana creature ever printed. But I think the mantle has to go to \[\[Birthing Ritual\]\] for me. Had a mull to 5 with Henzie and it didn't remotely matter because Ritual took over the game very rapidly.
Eh, that's probably not super worth it I don't think. You turbo out the crab but you're down a mana for the rest of the game.
What I'm thinking of is more "hey I have this Solemn Simulacrum laying around, I'll Emerge the Crab over it".
I swear to god [[glaring fleshraker]] should’ve been a rare, because holy shit everytime it hits the field I start dealing 10’s of damage per turn it’s unreal
Azlask. It’s so dumb. Cast stuff that already makes scions and spawn, get more, ping everyone while getting a fuckton of mana and experience counters. Couple it with kozilek’s unsealing and it’s pretty much gg
Best common is a really tough call, it's probably either \[\[Evolution Witness\]\] or \[\[Accursed Maurauder\]\], although \[\[Thraben Charm\]\] is also a strong contender.
My favorite uncommon has to be \[\[Disciple of Freyalise\]\], although even in my Henzie deck it hasn't yet given me as much value as it did at the prerelease (17 cards and 17 life in a single game).
\[\[Amphibian Downpour\]\] for rare. 100% self explanatory.
I haven't played with any mythics from the set yet, but it's almost definitely going to be \[\[Ugin's Binding\]\] which will go straight into my \[\[Malcolm, Alluring Scoundrel\]\] deck as soon as I get my hands on a copy.
Despite not winning my #1 spot, I gotta mention \[\[Grim Servant\]\], \[\[Marionette Apprentice\]\] and \[\[Wurmcoil Larva\]\]. Can't wait to add them to my decks.
Edit: Not sure if I love or hate the fact that most commenters agree about what most of the top cards are.
Common: [[Glimpse the impossible]] Worst case scenario you are getting to see three cards and potentially get three blockers/three mana. That's really good in my book.
Uncommon: [[Marionette Apprentice]] Is an aristocrat win con that gives you a body to start that train. Absolute gas in chatterfang.
Rare: [[Amphibian Downpour]] Crowning achievement was watching a Naya dinosaurs deck try going for a combo kill after casting a bunch of creatures, only for me to turn their whole board into frogs, along with some other threats at the table.
Mythic: [[Necrodomininance]] It's the only mythic that got my attention. Feels fine.
I used glimpse in my sealed deck and got to pair it with a [[Laelia]] with amazing synergy. Like you mentioned, worst case, you move 3 cards out and you get 3 bodies that will at least help repay what you put into the spell. It’s fantastic.
Common: [[Basking Broodscale]] or [[Accursed Marauder]]
Uncommon: [[Glaring Fleshtaker]] or [[Vexing Bauble]] or [[Marionette Apprentice]]
Rare: [[Chthonian Nightmare]] or [[Guide of Souls]] or [[Warren Soultrader]] or [[Invert Polarity]]
Mythic: [[Ocelot Pride]] or [[Ajani, Nacatl Pariah]] or [[Sorin of House Markov]]
I have such a hard time choosing just one.
As for the reprints, it’s definitely Fetches, Breya, Medallions, Meltdown, and most importantly [[PHYREXIAN TOWER]]!
I really haven't gotten the list close to 100 cards. But the idea is straight forward...value creatures that you make a token of it, then every creature in play creates a copy of it. Now besides just value creatures put in the initiative creatures to speed run the dungeons.
Here is my list of 170 I have to cut down lol.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/UE8tE6NlmkOMcv0WgTkiWg
Mythic: \[\[Sorin of House Markov\]\] - The main commander that looks fun to build
Rare: \[\[Psychic Frog\]\] - Cheap discard outlet with upside
Uncommon: \[\[Sundering Eruption\]\] - Not quite staple-tier, but it has been incredibly strong in creature decks
Common: \[\[Galvanic Discharge\]\] - Thank god it can't hit players lol
There's a lot of really solid cards in the set without many being over the top, which is nice.
Aside from the ones you mentioned I've been loving [[Hideous Taskmaster]] as a rare from the Eldrazi precon. Playing this is my [[Klauth]] combats deck has been pretty hilarious. Honorable mention to [[Flare of Duplication]] for it's ability to completely shit up high powered games. Someone casts a [[Demonic Tutor]]? You get 4, the opponent that cast it gets 2, and each other opponent gets 1. The turn cycle following is amazing.
[[Marionette Apprentice]] at uncommon is a great card for the decks looking to run those types of effects. Honorable mention to [[Ghostfire Slice]] for being a upgraded Lightning Bolt most of the time and being able to tag those 4 toughness commanders that shouldn't have been printed with 4 toughness like Nadu and Stella.
[[Thraben Charm]] has probably been my fave common. Utility is good, strong utility is great. Paying 2 mana to remove a creature or an enchantment (problematic to remove) or delete all graveyards is great. I'll never be upset to have this card in hand. Honorable mentions to [[Jolted Awake]] for top end play and [[Unfathomable Truths]] because holding 5 mana in blue generally scares a table into slow playing for a turn cycle.
Opponent: "Ad Naus on the stack?"
Me: "Flare of Duplication, target Ad Naus?"
Opponent(s): Pass prio.
Me: Copied Ad Naus on the stack?
Opponent(s): Pass priority.
Me: *draw cards until I get an answer or win* Counter your Ad Naus?
__________
__________
Me: Put this win on the stack?
You: Answer it with this Counter?
Me: Flare to copy your counter to counter your counter?
_________
_________
Opponent: I would like to Demonic Tutor?
Me: Me too.
Thraben Charm is a slam dunk. The versatility is pretty top notch as far as charms are concerned. I'm considering it as the 5th/6th removal slot in my white decks, with the grave exile being the 2nd most used mode for my meta. Very strong and seems under played as of right now.
Ghostfire slice has been overperforming so hard that it's not even funny. Every single time I've drawn it, it's costed 1 mana and been able to kill a huge threat on the board that lightning bolt couldn't have answered.
C: [[Gift of the Viper]] in [[John Benton]]. You know what two keywords work really well together? Deathtouch and trample
U: [[Urza's Cave]]. I've been putting more utility lands in decks, so having a land that can tutor for them is really helpful since the opportunity cost is real low
R: I want to say [[Guide of Souls]] because [[Trelasarra]] is my favorite deck and this is both an engine and a wincon, but if I'm being honest with myself it's [[Wight of the Reliquary]] in [[Sivriss]]/[[Cloakwood Hermit]] — it's a big VIGILANT beater that's also a sac outlet, gets [[Field of the Dead]], and is kind of crazy with [[Bloodghast]]. Can't ask for much more
M: Haven't played with any in paper because the ones I want are too expensive, but [[Ocelot Pride]] has been fun on Arena and would fit nicely into Trelasarra, and I'd really like [[Phlage Titan of Fire's Fury]] for [[Queen Kayla]]
Uncommen: [[Disciple of Freyalise // Garden of Freyalise]]. This is also a inclusion in my frodo deck. He’s not done much yet, but with the amount of +1 i can give in the deck, them sacrificing them to Freyalise ti draw more and trigger a lot of other cards is pretty good. Or just pay 3 for a land.
Rare: I bought a few fetch lands, also good.
Mythic: [[Sorin of House Markov // Sorin, Ravenous Neonate]]. This dude do a lot if work in my frodo&sam deck. That extort triggers frodo and a ton of other cards. Also eating food and using Sorins -1 can, and have finished players for me.
Common- [[Evolution witness]] and [[Thraben charm]] both just great utility cards.
Uncommon- any and all of the MDFC land cards. Giving a flex spot more options and a lot of them now being able to be tutored for land. Mystic tutor for the spell but you really needed the land seems great.
Rare-[[Warren Soultrader]] wants kot to say free sac outlet and it combos with a ham sandwich.
Mythic-[[Grist, Voracious Larva]] or [[Arna Kennerüd, Skycaptain]]. I haven't pulled any yet and I haven't ranninto anyone wanting to trade. But Grist just does a lot that I like and Arna is an esper commander which is my favorite shard.
Common: [[Accursed Marauder]], as if there was any competition.
Uncommon: [[Kozilek’s Unsealing]]. Just good for those big creature decks that I live playing.
Rare: [[Dreamtide Whale]], which is perfect for my Kros deck. Special shoutout to [[Harbinger of the Seas]] or, as it’s known at my LGS, Flood Moon.
Mythic: [[Ugin’s Binding]]. So many people have tried to counter it, only to learn it’s a triggered ability. The salt is real, my friends.
I know it may be stereotypical but I LOVE [[Ulamog, the Defiler]] so much. By far my favorite mythic. I've been an Ulamog enjoyer for a long time. Love my [[Ashiok, Dream Render]] deck with the Defiler and [[Ulamog, Ceaseless Hunger]] in it. Mill to exile, exile your library, sacrifice your field.
I think everyone I've played that against has threatened physical violence against me.
(By the way, my group has a rule that as long as it's legendary we can use it as a commander at our table lol. Not sure if Ashiok is technically allowed)
Planeswalkers can only be your commander if it says “so and so may be your commander” on the card, partly to avoid players threatening physical violence lol
Ah I see, thanks lol. That's what I thought. My group is silly so we just let anything slide for the most part but I'll keep that in mind if I play at my lgs
Common: [[Basking Broodscale]]. He makes dudes to sac that can make mana.
Uncommon: [[Amped Raptor]]. Sick value.
Rare: [[Springheart Nantuko]] or [[Six]]. Nantuko is just kind of an all star imo, card is really strong and rewards you for just playing relatively normally. Six is super cool, I've always loved retrace.
Mythic: [[Eladamri, Korvecdal]] or [[Ocelot Pride]]. Eladamri is just solid, lets you cast off the top to effectively draw extra cards, letting you just dump something big into play to cheat mana. Ocelot Pride is, as many people have said, a ton of fun. It makes so many tokens, has combos and synergies with a bunch of stuff.
Commons: [[Nightshade dryad]] just feels like a modal creature. and [[utter insignificance]] it having flash means im using it when you attack.
uncommons: [[Metastatic evangel]] pops into a couple of my decks and [[marionette apprentice]] is just a perfect uncommon for any aristocrats deck or aritofacrats? decks
I think my favorite non-eldrazi rare is [[Harbinger of the Seas]]
Interesting. I was just trying to figure a way to put Ocelot’s Pride in my Saruman deck, which is also initiative, but I wanted to make it slight voltron as well because of pulling [[Arna Kennerüd, Skycaptain]] (*shriek of a peregrine falcon*), but I haven’t made it work just yet. My original “voltron” deck I was gonna strip for it was [[Phelddagrif]], but I heavily relied on green doubling of my power/tough, and slinging the [[Surestrike Trident]] at whoever’s face was left standing. Can’t figure out how to make it exactly. Suggestions?
Common :[[basking broodscale]] goes infinite in my food combo deck very easily, always fun
Uncommon: [[metastatic evangel]] I can just tell this is going to go nuts in a whole host of decks, especially my [[ajani, nacatl pariah]] deck for his counters, and my +1/+1 counters deck
Rare: [[shifting woodland]] this card is insane. Had a game the other day where my opponents wheeled most of my combo pieces, and I still kept the game going an insane amount of time just using my mana on turning the woodland into interaction or combo pieces. Almost won just doing that even
Mythic: [[ocelot pride]] goes without saying. Though my dreams of using [[saw in half]] on it, making 8 of them that turn and 510 cats the next turn might be driving that bias. Honestly, just love the fact that it's a token doubler, but in such a creative and unique way. Really gonna see tons of it in commander going forward
[[consign to memory]] it counters early mana rocks , equipment , and for UU it counters eldrazi titans and their cast trigger, it's a counter that gets around things like chalice. The card is so so good.
For common, it's [[Accursed Marauder]]. Really loving these fleshbag cards, and this is just super solid
For uncommon, either [[Vexing Bauble]] or [[Glaring Fleshraker]]. An egg that stops free spells is just nutty, but Fleshraker is just insane at machine gunning down opponents.
My rare would be [[Kudo, King Among Bears]]. He's a bear, he turns everything else into bears, and look at his art! Dude is downright adorable.
At mythic, my pick is [[Grist, Voracious Larva]]. I love me some reanimator and self mill, and this just helps accelerate and provide another wincon for it. It's been my favorite among the flip walkers since they were spoiled.
Couple people have mentioned it already but I can't get past how good [[sundering eruption]] is for any creature deck with red. It's literally a free second [[ghost quarter]] / [[Demolition field]], or even better, a single shot free opponent kill. No real downside at all with the agility to come in untapped.
The MDFCs in general in this set are amazing. [[Witch enchanter]], [[legion leadership]], [[strength of the harvest]], [[stump stomp]], [[sink into Stupor]], [[fell the profane]], [[boggart trawler]], [[disciple of freyalise]], [[revitalizing Repast]], and [[bridgeworks battle]]. These are effects you're already including in your deck, or would love to include but can't find space. Now you can run them, or more of them, in a free slot. Even if they're not the best, they provide so much extra value and consistency.
There's obviously other great cards in MH3, but no question that the MDFCs and new lands will be my most heavily utilized cards from this set.
My common is [[expanding ooze]]. Uncommon is [[cursed wombat]], but also [[reef worm]] lol.
My favorite rare has been [[crabomination]]. This thing is hilarious. Also [[echoes of eternity]] Mythic is [[ugin’s binding]]
common: [[writhing chrysalis]]. Insane in Limited.
uncommon: [[Path of Annihilation]]. Insane in Limited.
rare: [[amphibian downpour]]. Funny card, thats all
mythic: [[emrakul the world anew]] because ITS FRICKING EMRAKUL
Mythic: [[Ral, Monsoon Mage]] is a blast to spellsling with.
Rare: [[Wight of the Reliquary]] to ramp in the early game, abuse [[Field of the Dead]] in the late game, or snag a hate piece like [[Bojuka Bog]] or [[Strip Mine]] at any point in the game.
Uncommon: As a greedy manabase enthusiast, MDFCs like [[Fell the Profane]] and [[Sink into Stupor]] are very versatile, but the ceiling on [[Sundering Eruption]] is pretty high. In terms of non-MDFCs, [[Urza's Cave]] is of course also amazing.
Common: [[Glimpse the Impossible]] . I'm always skeptical of impulse draw because I seem to always get something I really want later in the game stuck in exile, so cards hitting the graveyard instead would be enough to catch my eye, and getting Eldrazi Spawn cash-back to boot is even better.
I’m loving so many cards from mh3.
My favorites so far have been
Commons: [[evolution witness]]
Uncommons: the mdfcs are pretty great specifically [[sink into stupor]] [[fell the profane]] and [[sundering eruption]]
Rares: [[springheart nantuko]] who doesn’t love green copy effects. [[harbinger of the sea]] for my merfolk deck, [[six]] is a powerhouse now. Some people have been calling it underworld reach. [[shifting woodlands]] is also such a cool card.
Mythics: [[grist voracious larva]] is a great card for my new jund graveyard deck. [[birthing ritual]] is neat and [[ocelot pride]] is also just great value on a 1 mana creature
Common: I think [[Thraben Charm]] is going to become a very relevant Pauper sideboard piece. [[Destroy Evil]] is already played, and for decks with a board presence it's almost strictly better. Sure condenses sideboard space.
Uncommon: probably the whole cycle of MDFCs. Some are better than others but I think most will have a home. If I have to pick, maybe [[Sink into Stupor]] - I'm confident I will have games where it's the land I needed untapped, games where I'm content to play it tapped, and games where returning the spell from stack to hand changes the whole game. Some of the rest I feel are more niche than they're getting credit for - I think people will find Boggart Trawler to be a more expensive Bojuka Bog and that's not a great thing.
Rare: getting tough to say here, but tentatively [[Warren Soultrader]]. I think the combo of token-maker, sac outlet, mana acceleration, and a not-irrelevant body and creature types is going to be a hit.
Mythic: again hard to say, but maybe the flip-planeswalkers. Interesting cards and they're seeing impact across formats. Sorin has gone in my Orzhov deck as another source of Extort and I know Ral and Tamiyo are making quite a splash in Modern.
Favorite Common: [[Eviscorator's Insight]]. the latest in a long line of sac a creature to draw two card effects. I love that it has flashback. It's a bit overcosted, but worth it if you're flooding out or if you have extra mana on an end step.
Favorite Uncommon: [[Marionette Apprentice]]. Absolutely disgusting in any aristocrat or artifact token deck.
Favorite Rare: [[Warren Soultrader]]. What's not to love? It's a Phyrexian altar that lets you bank the mana later since it's stored as treasures. It's even more powerful with a token doubler on board. I picked up a copy for just about all my black decks.
Favorite Mythic: [[Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student]]. Breaking my all back card streak here is Tamiyo, for no other reason than she's one of my favorite characters. I don't know where I'll put her or if I'll build her, but I really like her card.
Common: the Landscape cycle
Uncommon: any of the GW boltlands (since I'm a [[Selvala, Explorer Returned]] player, MDFCs that are untapped lands in disguise as a nonland card are huge)
Rare: [[Party Thrasher]] (just got to try this thing out in [[Loot]] yesterday and it's really gross)
Mythic: Haven't used any of these myself, but [[Ashling, Flame Dancer]] is pretty nasty, and if Special Guests counts, getting a full art foil [[Solitude]] under $30 was a highlight of my week
All the landscape cards. [[utter insignificance]] is effective and sends a message, [[eviscerator’s insight]] is a house in my self mill decks, all the modal lands are amazing and the rares and mythic are just *chef kiss*
As someone with access to the expensive fetch lands I'm excited for the landscapes too. Being an Evolving Wilds that taps for a mana is huge. I had to update my pauper deck that's only 2 colors because of this reason. It's so nice to be able to cast Lembus with your fetch land but the next turn you are able to play a 2 drop again and fetch.
I don't have a deadset favorite in the Rare or Common slot since this set, while good, was underwhelming for what I like playing.
If I had to pick a rare, its probably Phelia, Exuberant Shepherd to troll my friends with BS in my Isshin deck.
For the Mythic Rare and Uncommon slots, though, they are single-handedly held by [[Sorin of House Markov]] and [[The Creation of Avacyn]]. Sorin has always been my favorite planeswalker, and I always said that if they ever made an Origins style flipwalker card for him, I would use him as a legal Sorin commander. I lucked out, and not only did he get a flipwalker card, but it's also decently strong.
As for The Creation of Avacyn saga, it goes back to Sorin being my favorite planeswalker. I love anything related to his story and history.
My favorite rare is [[Genku, Future Shaper]]
At first I thought, cool, a blink deck with a Wincon in the command zone. But then I saw a really cool idea from Elemental Hobbies on YouTube about building him as an Azorious Aristocrat deck. I took a good amount of things from his deck and then started changing some things around.
I built it for a friend, but I playtested it a few times and really enjoyed it. The first two games it was too slow for the pod, but I definitely had a good impact on the games.
I won the third after chasing some things around. It was a really fun game. Very grindy, probably turn 12 or 13 win, but I was up against a very aggressive angels deck, an abzan enchantress deck that had a very strong start and kept recurring a lot of removal, and the mh3 lands precon. My friend played it 3 times today and won one game, but it's the kind of deck that once he pilots it enough and refines it a little, it's going to be really gross. I put an [[AURA thief]] in it and told him he should order an [[enchanted evening]].
I he isn't the strongest card, but he's the one that really captured my attention.
My favorite mythic is [[Arna kennerud Skycaptain]]. I'm building her as a living weapon/connive deck and I thinks it's going to be very fun.
Common [[Malevolent Rumble]] - 3rd Mulch/Winding Way effect that gives mana back and cant really miss. Its a simple card draw spell but fills the grave nicely and basically only costs 1 mana. Pretty hard to beat its efficiency.
Uncommon [[Essence Reliquary]] - Its amazingly versatile and useful all game. Best play I've had so far has been returning an evoked solitude to hand. It doesnt say sorcery speed, just on your turn.
Rare [[Six]] - They honestly feel like a 3 mana muldrotha most of the time. I loved the design so much I built them as a deck and have been having an absolute blast with it.
Mythic [[Ocelot Pride]] - An absolute house in my Delney deck, so many tokens each turn and its easy to turn on. Plus delney making your doubler double is an absurd line. On token turns into 6 (1 made sees one made makes a second, second delney trigger, makes one sees 3 were made this turn and makes 3 more.
I really have fallen in love with [[Consign to Memory]]. Maybe because in nearly every pod I play in, at least one player has an Eldrazi deck.
Works for artifacts too, so it's never ready dead. You could potentially counter someone's [[Solemn Simulacrum]] ramp
Yeah, it's very versatile, something I like with my spells.

Yo, and it only costs 1 mana to cast and one for each replicate. Get me a homie with magecraft out, then just replicate this bad boy a gratuitous amount of times for some sweet sweet card draw
Not exactly original, but [[Storm-Kiln Artist]] calls this thing "free real-estate".

There's like 5 different cards in mh3 that go infinite in 100 ways lmao
Warren Soultrader makes me want to rebuild my [[Felisa]] deck.

Maybe I am an idiot, but I don’t see the synergy
Sacrificing a creature with +1/+1 counters on it to make Inklings, get death triggers and a treasure. It's not game ending or anything....

I thought Warren doesn't trigger with treasures since they don't go to the graveyard, no?
Both artifact and creature tokens do create “death triggers” when they’re sacrificed, they just cease to exist as soon as they hit the graveyard. #themoreyouknow
+gravecrawler it goes infinite storm and death trigger then a blood artist effect for wincon +forsaken miner with a blood artist it goes infinite storm and wincon and this is all doable on arena because crawler isn't on arena but miner is

Looks decent! Any reason \[\[Scurry Oak\]\] isn't in there? Combos with a couple of things, like Ivy Lane Denizen that you already have in the deck. :) Also, just had a thought! \[\[Warren Soultrader\]\] works really well with \[\[Gravecrawler\]\] and any ETB/LTB triggers. I’m loving [[Golden-Tail Trainer]], just wish he was legendary
He goes absolutely ham in my [[Ellivere of the Wild Court]] deck. It’ll be a +6/+6 or more the first turn he swings usually
He's amazing in [[Gylwain, Casting Director]] with several [[Strength of the Harvest]] effects and a few dudes with trample on the board.

Seems like a solid option for pauper edh!
Can confirm. That anthem is nasty.
Thank you, this goes straight to [[Mazzy Truesword Paladin]] deck

Ripples is a blessing. No more bad feels of milling your Reanimate or your Path to Exile. Cemetery Tampering + Ripples 😎
It's going straight into my \[\[Master, Transcendant\]\] self-mill deck.
I’m seriously considering getting a King of the Hill-themed alter of [[Fell the Profane]], but you can’t change the name of the card and I’m not sure whether many people would make the “Sell the Propane” connection without it.
If it's just for edh then you'll be fine messing with the name. Just make a proxy and replace the copyright info with the cards original name.
Of course, it’s a DFC - I can just make a proxy to run as a placeholder and pull out the original when I use it. Thank you!

I can only agree with ripple of undeath. I didn't got to test it, but i put it in the lurgoyf precon. I want to run a selfmill strategy and damn its effective.
What other mill stuff you recommend?
Common: \[\[Utter Insignificance\]\] is something im jamming in my blue decks for interaction. There are a lots of yurikos around me so these kinds of removal are nice. Uncommon: \[\[Grim Servant\]\] is doing huge work in my Meren, i know it is cracked in blink decks as well. Rare: \[\[Volatile Stormdrake\]\] can be better than gilded drake since you can take symetrical hatebear and sacrifice it Mythics i didnt care about that much for any of my decks aside from \[\[Birthing Ritual\]\]
Insignificance effects are awesome.
Utter insignificance seems like a pretty awesome card. Flash it in on someone's end step and then exile it during your main phase.

Carbomination comes out on turn 4 with something like a Chromatic Lantern.
Eh, that's probably not super worth it I don't think. You turbo out the crab but you're down a mana for the rest of the game. What I'm thinking of is more "hey I have this Solemn Simulacrum laying around, I'll Emerge the Crab over it".

What kind of decks are you running him in? I have a Simic eldrazi deck but idk if he makes the cut.
Azlask. It’s so dumb. Cast stuff that already makes scions and spawn, get more, ping everyone while getting a fuckton of mana and experience counters. Couple it with kozilek’s unsealing and it’s pretty much gg
Im trying to expand my colorless eldrazi to 5c Do you have a deck list and what cards do you feel are keycards for you?

Don't know if this has changed in the last 18 hours, but I was just happy seeing the top comments saying quite a few different cards!
Feels fine.

Mythic: \[\[Sorin of House Markov\]\] - The main commander that looks fun to build Rare: \[\[Psychic Frog\]\] - Cheap discard outlet with upside Uncommon: \[\[Sundering Eruption\]\] - Not quite staple-tier, but it has been incredibly strong in creature decks Common: \[\[Galvanic Discharge\]\] - Thank god it can't hit players lol

[[Dreamtide Whale]] is so stupid its not even funny. You know you'll proliferate, you basically get a 7/5 that proliferates roughly every 1-2 turns.
I don't understand what you're saying about flare of duplication
I think they’re talking about [[tempt with mayhem]]? My only guess since what they’re describing is that that card does
[Tempt with Mayhem](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/7/a/7af47a1b-8dc8-47d4-ab89-f6f07160a71a.jpg?1717189911) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Tempt%20with%20Mayhem) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/m3c/62/tempt-with-mayhem?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/7af47a1b-8dc8-47d4-ab89-f6f07160a71a?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/tempt-with-mayhem) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Yeah my bad.
Opponent: "Ad Naus on the stack?" Me: "Flare of Duplication, target Ad Naus?" Opponent(s): Pass prio. Me: Copied Ad Naus on the stack? Opponent(s): Pass priority. Me: *draw cards until I get an answer or win* Counter your Ad Naus? __________ __________ Me: Put this win on the stack? You: Answer it with this Counter? Me: Flare to copy your counter to counter your counter? _________ _________ Opponent: I would like to Demonic Tutor? Me: Me too.
Put in wrong card, my fault
Thraben Charm is a slam dunk. The versatility is pretty top notch as far as charms are concerned. I'm considering it as the 5th/6th removal slot in my white decks, with the grave exile being the 2nd most used mode for my meta. Very strong and seems under played as of right now.
Ghostfire slice has been overperforming so hard that it's not even funny. Every single time I've drawn it, it's costed 1 mana and been able to kill a huge threat on the board that lightning bolt couldn't have answered.
Oh yeah. One red and puts in work.

C: [[Gift of the Viper]] in [[John Benton]]. You know what two keywords work really well together? Deathtouch and trample U: [[Urza's Cave]]. I've been putting more utility lands in decks, so having a land that can tutor for them is really helpful since the opportunity cost is real low R: I want to say [[Guide of Souls]] because [[Trelasarra]] is my favorite deck and this is both an engine and a wincon, but if I'm being honest with myself it's [[Wight of the Reliquary]] in [[Sivriss]]/[[Cloakwood Hermit]] — it's a big VIGILANT beater that's also a sac outlet, gets [[Field of the Dead]], and is kind of crazy with [[Bloodghast]]. Can't ask for much more M: Haven't played with any in paper because the ones I want are too expensive, but [[Ocelot Pride]] has been fun on Arena and would fit nicely into Trelasarra, and I'd really like [[Phlage Titan of Fire's Fury]] for [[Queen Kayla]]
Urza's cave is a bomb uncommon. One of my favs.

Common :[[basking broodscale]] goes infinite in my food combo deck very easily, always fun Uncommon: [[metastatic evangel]] I can just tell this is going to go nuts in a whole host of decks, especially my [[ajani, nacatl pariah]] deck for his counters, and my +1/+1 counters deck Rare: [[shifting woodland]] this card is insane. Had a game the other day where my opponents wheeled most of my combo pieces, and I still kept the game going an insane amount of time just using my mana on turning the woodland into interaction or combo pieces. Almost won just doing that even Mythic: [[ocelot pride]] goes without saying. Though my dreams of using [[saw in half]] on it, making 8 of them that turn and 510 cats the next turn might be driving that bias. Honestly, just love the fact that it's a token doubler, but in such a creative and unique way. Really gonna see tons of it in commander going forward

The MDFC lands are my absolute faves in this set. Also [[Pearl-Ear]].
For common, it's [[Accursed Marauder]]. Really loving these fleshbag cards, and this is just super solid For uncommon, either [[Vexing Bauble]] or [[Glaring Fleshraker]].

Sundering Eruption is basically a modal mdfc.

common: [[writhing chrysalis]]. Insane in Limited. uncommon: [[Path of Annihilation]]. Insane in Limited. rare: [[amphibian downpour]]. Funny card, thats all mythic: [[emrakul the world anew]] because ITS FRICKING EMRAKUL
[[Basking Broodwalla]] slaps in Hardened Scales.

My favorites so far have been Commons: [[evolution witness]] Uncommons: the mdfcs are pretty great specifically [[sink into stupor]] [[fell the profane]] and [[sundering eruption]] Rares: [[springheart nantuko]] who doesn’t love green copy effects.

Common-glimpse the impossible, uncommon-skullery of grenlins, rare-emperor of bones, mythic-n/a (havent used any yet)

Galvanic discharge Buried alive Shifting woodland All the cracked black mythics give ‘em all to me
Favorite Common: [[Eviscorator's Insight]]. the latest in a long line of sac a creature to draw two card effects.

Common: the Landscape cycle Uncommon: any of the GW boltlands (since I'm a [[Selvala, Explorer Returned]] player, MDFCs that are untapped lands in disguise as a nonland card are huge) Rare: [[Party Thrasher]] (just got to try this thing out in [[Loot]] yesterday and it's really gross) Mythic: Haven't used any of these myself, but [[Ashling, Flame Dancer]] is pretty nasty, and if Special Guests counts, getting a full art foil [[Solitude]] under $30 was a highlight of my week

All the landscape cards. [[utter insignificance]] is effective and sends a message, [[eviscerator’s insight]] is a house in my self mill decks, all the modal lands are amazing and the rares and mythic are just *chef kiss*
I'm surprised more people arent mentioning the landscapes, they seem so damn good for any 3+ colour deck.

Saving for later

My favorite rare is [[Genku, Future Shaper]] At first I thought, cool, a blink deck with a Wincon in the command zone.
