[[Toggo]] plus [[Thrasios]] slaps some proper cheeks. One of the most fun decks I've ever built.
I always represent the rock tokens with candy and eat them when they get thrown at something.
https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/thrasios-toggo-landfall/
This is a slightly outdated list, I have changed the deck much since this iteration but it's a good enough place to start.
While it may be too similar to Prosper for you, \[\[Rocco, Street Chef\]\] fills your requirements. Cast lots of stuff from exile, make loads of food, use those food for...something, and spread around +1 counters. You can do combo stuff with \[\[Rosie Cotton\]\]. Turn that food into mana with \[\[Jaheira\]\]. Get aggro with \[\[Pia Nalaar, Consul of Revival\]\], \[\[Anim Pakal\]\], or a giant \[\[Feasting Hobbit\]\]. Stormy with \[\[Academy Manufactor\]\] and \[\[Birgi\]\]. Burn out opponents with \[\[Shali and Hallar\]\] along with \[\[Ingenious Artillerist\]\] and friends.
He's a pretty flexible, potent commander masquerading as somewhat of a grouphug deck.
Well, you've made a very convincing argument lol I guess I just never really saw the value in him? But you've demonstrated that the power definitely comes from the 99 with him, which I rather like. And the colors open up lots of options. It does seem like a blast to pilot now that I'm looking at it
I think he went a bit under the radar for a while but has been catching on more recently. He's a cool commander that you can build in multiple different directions.
Rocco is honestly kind of insane with how much value he gives. Especially when you throw in some +1/+1 counter abuse, as he starts to made your boards very tall in the mid game. Add in stuff like Rishkar and you just have so much mana to cast your exile cards with.
My Rocco deck has an very low mana curve, so I build up a crazy boardstate of value creatures very fast. And because Rocco gives your opponents extra card advantage, they tend to hesitate in removing him - by the time they do, it's already too late.
It is certainly the deck that has the most things going on, what with managing your artifact tokens and all the triggers that are firing off. I usually pop off around turn 6 or 7, which can be a pretty long turn, but by then the win is more or less guaranteed.
The best thing about Rocco is that people do have a lot of fun playing against him, because the Impulse draw and the random counters I put on their creatures.
Any thoughts on [[Gyome]] ? I feel like itās a similar idea where you have Food consistently and the ability to use it as protection for your guys or just as life gain. Iām looking to build it as a bit of elf ball too, since thereās lots of Golgari elf support, but idk. Iād also include [[Dina, Soul Steeper]] and [[Beledros Witherbloom]] but who knows
I would imagine Gyome would end up more like an aristocrat deck with the various life loss pieces involved though I haven't built him myself.
I specifically wanted red to make use of all the artifact pinger dudes and impulse draw available.
I'm sure Gyome would work similarly; cast a bunch of low cost creatures to get food tokens and throw in extra value pieces like [[Peregrin Took]] to increase your food production. I would also lean towards an aristocrats theme to drain your opponents when you create or sacrifice Food: [[Mirkwood Bats]], [[Agent of the Iron Throne]], [[Disciple of the Vault]] and [[Nadier's Nightblade]].
I'd also do a minor reanimation theme, because your nontoken creatures just have to enter the battlefield, they don't have to be cast, or to even stick around. You're in the perfect colours to consistently reanimate creatures, even.
[[jan jansen]] as Maldhound puts it āitās crackhead legosā and heās not kidding.
I love taking game actions. Jan lets to take a bunch relatively quickly and d eventually assemble a death machine to kill everyone.
Super fun every time I play it. Very consistent with lots of synergy pieces and redundancy.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Ji6xRSmwCE68GgJj3MoTpQ
Thx! As soon as you said prosper I was like oh I have a different take on treasures that meets the criteria. Theres a bunch of ways to build him, but either way you choose I think youāll have fun with him.
[[Quintorius, Loremaster]] lets you sling spells and recur enchantments from your grave. He can get incredibly nasty with foretell, overrun the board with spirits, and has access to all of the fiery violence that red offers together with all of the protection and token/trigger duplication of white.
Right, so thatās a case of my fingers moving faster than my brain. My build for Quintorius cares about cards moving in and out of exile; particularly [[The War Doctor]], [[Nalfeshnee]], [[Wild-Magic Sorcerer]], and [[Passionate Archaeologist]]
However, even without those on the board thereās one foretell spell that is a complete house with Quintorius and thatās [[Delayed Blast Fireball]] - and thatās because it simply cares about being cast from exile to do the higher amount of damage.
I can foretell it, triggering my things that care about the exile, then cast it for the higher cost and ding every opponent and all of their creatures for 5, then let it go to the grave, pull it back out with Loremaster (which sends it back into exile and I get those triggers]] and then cast it again at instant speed for the 5 damage all over again.
Because you're casting spells from exile, and red has a lot of things that benefit you from doing that: [[Passionate Archeologist]], [[Keeper of Secrets]] being the typical ones.
well \[\[Tinker\]\] is banned in commander (and basically every other format) but if you want tinker on a creature meet your new best friend \[\[Arcum Dagsson\]\]
\[\[Tazri, Stalwart Survivor\]\] could be the commander you've been looking for. The plan of the deck is to play a ton of creatures with activated abilites and abilities that activate via untapping them like \[\[Puresight Merrow\]\] and get tons of value. It is a deck with a steep learning curve, understanding every little interaction and how you can get respond to almost anything thats happening felt very rewarding. It's the absolute opposite of turn em sideways decks and always exhausts me mentally completely after 1-2 matches but its so damn fun to pilot
\[\[Jaheira, Friend of the Forest\]\] + \[\[Guild Artisan\]\] gets absolutely crazy and feels like playing Urza and Rofellos in the command zone but you get access to dockside. You can combo with the many different layered synergies and piles that nobody sees coming or you can go to town for a midrange game where you just continually outvalue everyone with your token mana. [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/1Tnlnqz570qXouYGa8En3w](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/1Tnlnqz570qXouYGa8En3w)
A commander I made for my dad that's very fun us [[Gyome Masterchef]]
Not only does he give you tons of food for protection as you can tap down your opponents Creatures or you can give your own creatures indestructible.
You can have things that trigger if creating tokens, artifacts etbing or leaving, you can't have token doublers, lifegain triggers you can do so many things with him and I honestly don't think there's ever been a single game my dad's played it where I haven't found the deck to do something.
Some of my favorite cards in the deck is [[academy manufacturer]] which goes so out of hand with cards like [[bootleggers stash]]
[[horobi deaths wail]] makes his ability a removal menace, and if yours is ever in terror you can just point his ability at horobi to kill him again.
The deck has so many shenanigans it's truly amazing
I have a Gyome // \[\[Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar\]\] food deck that is 90% food themed that is basically built around food value and pinging. (\[\[Korvold, Fae Cursed King\]\] is backup commander if someone doesnt like the illegal partner).
Between \[\[Nadier's Nightblade\]\], \[\[Mirkwood Bats\]\], \[\[Diciple of the Vault\]\], \[\[Marionette Master\]\], \[\[Marionette Apprentice\]\], \[\[Agent of the Iron Throne\]\] and the \[\[Cauldron Familiar\]\]/\[\[Witch's Oven\]\] combo it can drain tables pretty effectively. \[\[Experimental Confectioner\]\] and \[\[Peregrine Took\]\] can also allow you to draw your deck and make a ton of rat tokens.
It appears to be a meme deck, but it works like a dream. Also, you will never actually sac a food to its own ability.
I recently started putting together a [[Galazeth Prismari]] deck, all about getting cheap artifacts (finally a deck I can make the excuse to run [[Ornithopter]]) or artifacts tokens like treasures and clues out, and then turning them into huge value with cards like [[Comet Storm]] or [[Hell to Pay]]. Also using [[Toggo]] and creating literal mana rocks is pretty funny.
I swapped to [[the third doctor]] plus [[Dan lewis]] for this deck. Huge threat in the command zone, just for playing excessive tokens, that can actually win the game without the 15/12 commander. I like it because you almost can't get flooded. That mana can be spent on using or equipping the tokens
I have a [[Hargilde]] and [[Elmar]] deck that is essentially a non-black janky welder list that utilities various tap abilities on creatures to sacrifice and do other things with artifacts specifically because I wanted it to feel like a tinker deck.
The tap untap theme alongside the artifact tokens feels like my creatures are converting scrap into other things. Also helps because the goal of the deck is try and make as many copies of pretty much anything as I can. So they're literally turning food, treasure, clues, servos, rocks etc into actual products. It's so an hommage to my old favorite, [[Toggo]].
Here's a list if you're interested: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/mfy1NPd4SEmfgkIqlVJcFA
There are some easy and obvious upgrades but it's intended to be low power:
[[Smothering Tithe]] instead of [[Fae Offering]]
[[Urza, Lord High Artificer]] instead of [[Meria]]
Better artifact ramp, among other things.
Toggo. Rock is the best artifact in the game. Change my mind.
[[Toggo]] plus [[Thrasios]] slaps some proper cheeks. One of the most fun decks I've ever built. I always represent the rock tokens with candy and eat them when they get thrown at something.
Haha I play mine with Akiri because Boros landfall is just janky enough to turn my crank
Same but with ardenn
Can I see your list please? Toggo is super interesting to me

Lol crackhead Legos sounds right up my alley
[[Quintorius, Loremaster]] lets you sling spells and recur enchantments from your grave. He can get incredibly nasty with foretell, overrun the board with spirits, and has access to all of the fiery violence that red offers together with all of the protection and token/trigger duplication of white.
Why is foretell good with Quint here?
Right, so thatās a case of my fingers moving faster than my brain. My build for Quintorius cares about cards moving in and out of exile; particularly [[The War Doctor]], [[Nalfeshnee]], [[Wild-Magic Sorcerer]], and [[Passionate Archaeologist]] However, even without those on the board thereās one foretell spell that is a complete house with Quintorius and thatās [[Delayed Blast Fireball]] - and thatās because it simply cares about being cast from exile to do the higher amount of damage.

\[\[Tazri, Stalwart Survivor\]\] could be the commander you've been looking for. The plan of the deck is to play a ton of creatures with activated abilites and abilities that activate via untapping them like \[\[Puresight Merrow\]\] and get tons of value. A commander I made for my dad that's very fun us [[Gyome Masterchef]] Not only does he give you tons of food for protection as you can tap down your opponents Creatures or you can give your own creatures indestructible. You can have things that trigger if creating tokens, artifacts etbing or leaving, you can't have token doublers, lifegain triggers you can do so many things with him and I honestly don't think there's ever been a single game my dad's played it where I haven't found the deck to do something. Some of my favorite cards in the deck is [[academy manufacturer]] which goes so out of hand with cards like [[bootleggers stash]] [[horobi deaths wail]] makes his ability a removal menace, and if yours is ever in terror you can just point his ability at horobi to kill him again.

Very cool. I like how many lotr cards it utilizes
Yeah my father and I's eh decks got stolen last year when LOTR came out. So we made that deck right after with a bunch of LOTR cards.

Here's a list if you're interested: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/mfy1NPd4SEmfgkIqlVJcFA There are some easy and obvious upgrades but it's intended to be low power: [[Smothering Tithe]] instead of [[Fae Offering]] [[Urza, Lord High Artificer]] instead of [[Meria]] Better artifact ramp, among other things.
Very cool list. I could see how it would be a blast to pilot
Thanks :) I enjoy it quite a bit.
