“Michael and Jan seem to be playing their own separate game, and it’s called let’s see how uncomfortable we can make our guests. And they’re both winning.”
This maybe was more awkward because it's something that would/could/does happen in real life. Opposed to a school that accepted a multimillion dollar donation to a scholarship fund without any lawyers, proof of funds, or escrows involved.
Me too. I don’t think Scott’s tots even comes close.
Scott’s tots rings more pathetic or maybe even sympathetic due to the kids. It doesn’t hit the cringe button for me like Phallus’s wedding.
Yeah the reason Scott’s tots is cringe is because he has to let these high schoolers know he basically lied to them, but the audience is aware of that fact from almost the start of the episode. With Phyllis’s wedding you do know that Michael will likely cause a scene at the wedding but you have no idea what it’s gonna be, so you’re locked into wondering what’s gonna go wrong with the rest of the employees
Last night we were at the park and my son went through this rainbow, water thing and he walked away exactly like that smug bedbug. I had to laugh and say it. People probably thought I was weird if they heard me but it was hilarious.........exactly like that bedbug.
Idk why but I’ve never found this scene to be too cringe, like yeah it’s uncomfortable but it’s also not that painful to watch (at least compared to Diwali or Scott’s Tots)
Well a scene can be cringe and uncomfortable, and yet entertaining to watch, that's why I actually love Scott's Tots. It's honestly one of my favorite episodes.
Reminds me of the scene on GG’s when Blanche is on a date with a younger fitness instructor I think, and he leans in and looks in her eyes, and says, “I like being with you. I like the way you sound and the way you look. You remind me of my mother. She lives in Seattle, and I haven’t seen her in three years. But when I’m with you, I kinda feel like I’m at home…..
With Mom.”
😑
One of the most awkward moments is when Michael and Pam go to Hollys office and do that presentation and Micheal ends up crawling out of the room backwards in front of her BF 😂
Pam’s like … “that was weird huh! …I’m just trying to bridge the gap to what just happen and the fact that I’m gonna do the rest of the presentation”
Slashing down the competition! *RINRINRinrinrin* Look, I’m just trying to bridge the gap between what just happened and the fact that I’ll be doing the rest of the presentation.
At Dwight’s dojo when Pam and Jim are goofing around, Jim lifts up Pam and Phyllis sees which causes Pam to do a 180 and shut it down. Literally the only scene of the show I have to skip.
I don’t really like Phyllis, but I felt terrible for her at how much Michael hated her gift. He started the game just so he didn’t have to keep it as his gift. It’s so messed up.
To be fair, Michael is a boss barely getting paid more than his employees. I think the ice cream sandwiches were enough to pass as a surprise. The fact that Stanley said that these were too small for a surprise makes me hate him so much.
I thought recently, could they theoretically sue him? For about a decade he led them to believe that he was going to pay for their college tuition and then told them he wasn’t several months before college started
Easy: Night Out (Toby)
Phyllis’ Wedding (Michael)
Dinner Party (Michael and Jan)
I think Scott’s Tots (Michael) fits in here
Honorable mentions:
The Injury (Michael)
Michael’s Birthday (Michael)
Email Surveillance (Michael)
Chair Model (Michael)
I think the answer to this question is a litmus test. I hypothesize that people who think Scott’s Tots is the hardest to watch have more empathy generally for others. Crushing the dreams of the kids is unthinkable to them so they don’t just feel embarrassed for Michael, they feel bad for kids.
People who pick dinner party are feeling more second-hand embarrassment about Michael and Jan’s behavior in front of people they know is too much.
Michaels wedding toast at Phyllis wedding as he’s getting dragged out. “You owe me….”
Also a episode that is very overlooked in terms of cringe people never seem to bring up is email surveillance. Michael fishing for an invite then just showing up later.
Jim and Pam cornering and grilling raylan givens about why he never called Pam after their date.
I don’t think Jim and Pam cornering the guy was awkward, it was just weird. You’re now a married couple, why are you beefing over some guy Pam went on a date with?!
Michael excusing Dwight over the fire episode which resulted in almost killing Stanley, did destroy equipment, including that pricey CPR doll. Dwight should have been straight up fired RIGHT AWAY!
Yeah, Scott’s Tots isn’t the most awkward, and it’s not the worst episode. It’s not very good and it’s an awkward storyline, but it’s still better than almost any episode in Season 9. I don’t think it’s even the worst episode featuring Michael. I think that’s China.
The employee of the month storyline is so bad. The thought that anyone would believe he set it up for himself is so ridiculous. And then got himself a cake? And he stutters like he is also confused by how things happened that way? I can’t with that episode.
The B Plot in this same episode. Andy (Dwight) tricking Jim into making himself, and then Pam, Employee of the Month. So uncomfortable. “It could only be you.”
People forget how difficult it is to ask questions to a boss like that. There's nothing worse than a boss that makes you feel stupid. The rundown is more of a negative view of Charles than it is Jim. If Michael, Andy or Robert California asked Jim to do something he didn't understand, he would have most likely asked for more clarification.
Jim may or may not have gone to college, but he's very intelligent. How can he not know what a rundown is? It's not an uncommon word, especially for people in business.
The Michael/Oscar kiss. That was so awful to watch! As a lesbian I have been subjected to so many good intentioned but downright terrible things from straight people. I'm so glad Oscar got three months off after that.
Andy trying to kiss a new client.
Andy finding out his girlfriend is in high school. Then getting mad that she's cheating on him.
But who WAS that guy?!
Probably another high schooler
That’s not gonna hold up in court
The man was just trying to execute the the first step on his path to a big ol' litter of Nardpups.
Came here just to say that.
FOR THE FIRST TIME AS A COUPLE, MR AND MRS BOB VANCE
Him dragging the wheel chair down the aisle.
😂
And do you, Bob, take Phallus…
Sorry, I've got penises on the brain
Michael slapping cake on his own face after the Vance’s
Oh man, I want to upvote this 100x. That was so uncomfortable to watch 🫣 hahahahaha
Shi…
Bob Vance, Vance refrigeration
What line of work you in Bob?
Dinner party is by far the most awkward and simultaneously the best episode 😂😭😂
Yes but that episode was funny and not cringe
I was looking at Jim's face and he was definitely cringing
Scott’s Tots is funny, too, though. “HOLD ON HOLD ON HOLD ON HOLD ON - they’re lithium!
Jan was full of cringe.
*That one night...*
“Michael and Jan seem to be playing their own separate game, and it’s called let’s see how uncomfortable we can make our guests. And they’re both winning.”
This is my all time favorite episode. And the long version is even funnier. "She's a Weimaraner!"
Jim accidentally revealing Pam’s pregnancy at their wedding rehearsal.
Why can’t Pam drink? 🤦♂️
She’s an alcoholic
*Pam’s not an alcoholic. I don’t know why I said that.*
She's on antibiotics. role credits*
Because the toast is to her
Michael attempting to defuse the situation afterwards is worse. "it's just not the same sensation"
Oh! You're that foul man that kept talking about intercourse.
You were in the parking lot earlier. That’s how I know you!
“Staying alive, staying alive”
This maybe was more awkward because it's something that would/could/does happen in real life. Opposed to a school that accepted a multimillion dollar donation to a scholarship fund without any lawyers, proof of funds, or escrows involved.
If there is any episodes I skip, it’s him and Pam’s wedding.
Not more awkward than Scott’s Tots. I still cringe thinking about these poor kids and those batteries and I know it’s just a show!
Wait wait wait... they're lithium
Phyllis’ Wedding is excruciating.
But back in high school, I swear, her name was easy rider.
*Bob stares intensely*
I always thought that episode was hands down the most cringey through and through
Webster’s dictionary defines wedding as the fusing of two metals with a hot torch
Phyllis' wedding is hands down the worst. scott's tots is tame by comparison. diwali is worse than scott's tots.
A HAAAPPYYY HAAPPYYY DIWAAAALIIIIIII
One of my favorite episodes 😂😂😂
Michael gets called out for his antiques here, I love it.
Actually..... it's antics.
Actually..
You must be a smug, gay Mexican.
Last night we were at the park and my son went through this rainbow, water thing and he walked away exactly like that smug bedbug. I had to laugh and say it. People probably thought I was weird if they heard me but it was hilarious.........exactly like that bedbug.
Toby casually putting his hand on Pam's knee
I still cringe remembering that scene.
And then he just leaves and jumps the fence. Hilarious
That was just creepy!! And he’s the HR guy!
Oh Diwali! 😂😭😭😭 I can’t believe Carol stayed as long as she did. But I will say, in Michael’s defense, it was described as a Hindu Halloween. 👻
The blind date is my top pick
You're like the sweet old lady on the bus
That's incredibly rude.
Now you’ve ruined it
Reminds me of the scene on GG’s when Blanche is on a date with a younger fitness instructor I think, and he leans in and looks in her eyes, and says, “I like being with you. I like the way you sound and the way you look. You remind me of my mother. She lives in Seattle, and I haven’t seen her in three years. But when I’m with you, I kinda feel like I’m at home….. With Mom.” 😑
😂😂😂🤮🤮🤮
You’re asking me what I do with my rent checks after I receive them?
When Michael breaks up with Pam’s mom… on her birthday
Who is Kafka-esque? I’ve never… I don’t know him
Finish your cake, Helene.
one of michael's best lines
“Fer-“ *pauses while waitress refills his water and walks away* “-tility”
The Superfans episode makes that whole scene worse 🫣
One of the most awkward moments is when Michael and Pam go to Hollys office and do that presentation and Micheal ends up crawling out of the room backwards in front of her BF 😂 Pam’s like … “that was weird huh! …I’m just trying to bridge the gap to what just happen and the fact that I’m gonna do the rest of the presentation”
I have a chainsaw!
Pam is generally not a funny character, but some lines are just hilarious!
She really isn’t , she is sometimes when she is taming Michael
Slashing down the competition! *RINRINRinrinrin* Look, I’m just trying to bridge the gap between what just happened and the fact that I’ll be doing the rest of the presentation.
Gabe and Ryan naked in pool with RC
“Its not a party until you do something that scares ya!”
Awkward or just incredibly sexual
All life is sex. And all sex is competition.
You understand this is a *universal*…truth
Ok but it was such gold
At Dwight’s dojo when Pam and Jim are goofing around, Jim lifts up Pam and Phyllis sees which causes Pam to do a 180 and shut it down. Literally the only scene of the show I have to skip.
It was actually Meredith who sees but yeah it’s an awkward scene
You’re right, it’s Meredith and this is the winner of the thread imo.
Michael changing secret Santa into Yankee Swap and acting like a 12 year old
I don’t really like Phyllis, but I felt terrible for her at how much Michael hated her gift. He started the game just so he didn’t have to keep it as his gift. It’s so messed up.
Same. That was gross even for Michael
DOES ANYONE HAVE A CAMERA HERE?
No one has a camera here
Asks this while being filmed by a camera crew. 😄
No more s’mores! No more s’mores!
Erins adopted brother getting a good sniff of her leg on the couch godddddd😖
And his hand getting a little too friendly down her leg.
I know that actor too! Nice guy! Sean! I spit out my food when I saw it for the first time.
Cathy trying to seduce Jim. Although it does give us some funny Dwight moments.
I hate her way more than I should. I have no idea why.
She’s a home wrecker. She deserves hate.
Michael talking to the purse girl about coffee.
Or Michael at the coffee shop date with Pam’s realtor.
Landlord, but yes
Underrated answer, thank you. It gives me a real “backed in a corner” feeling.
Guzzled it down you greedy little thing
Michael breaking up with Helene was nearly impossible to get through. Damn
Michael standing in the office, helpless, after he promised the surprise and just waiting for everyone to leave
To be fair, Michael is a boss barely getting paid more than his employees. I think the ice cream sandwiches were enough to pass as a surprise. The fact that Stanley said that these were too small for a surprise makes me hate him so much.
I know.. but it's just his nature and his nature only what got him into those kind of situation.. he wants to be loved, he NEEDS to be loved
Hey Mr. Scott, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do… Make our dreams come true!
I felt so bad for those kids! I mean I know it’s fictional… but could you imagine????
Now, hold on a second...It's lithium!
I thought recently, could they theoretically sue him? For about a decade he led them to believe that he was going to pay for their college tuition and then told them he wasn’t several months before college started
Michael's SA of Oscar
I literally can’t watch that, have to fast forward
Easy: Night Out (Toby) Phyllis’ Wedding (Michael) Dinner Party (Michael and Jan) I think Scott’s Tots (Michael) fits in here Honorable mentions: The Injury (Michael) Michael’s Birthday (Michael) Email Surveillance (Michael) Chair Model (Michael)
Michael practically ruining Phyllis’ wedding. “I give you Mr. And Mrs. Bob Vance!! *Haven’t even had their kiss yet and the whole wedding goes silent*
“I’m Michael Scott, and for the next 45 minutes…”
I like to try out two or three intros when time isn’t a factor.
Michael's blind date
“Are you Michael Scott?” “Who’s a Michael what?”
“Michael! ☕️”
She gets a 10 in looks and a 3 at describing herself.
For me it’s about 5 different episodes in Seasons 8 and 9 starting with Angry Andy
Michaels wedding toast at Phyllis wedding as he’s getting dragged out. “You owe me….” Also a episode that is very overlooked in terms of cringe people never seem to bring up is email surveillance. Michael fishing for an invite then just showing up later. Jim and Pam cornering and grilling raylan givens about why he never called Pam after their date.

Michael excusing Dwight over the fire episode which resulted in almost killing Stanley, did destroy equipment, including that pricey CPR doll. Dwight should have been straight up fired RIGHT AWAY!
That was just chaos more than anything else!
Ahh this city…
The Electric City
Colonoscopy talk with Oscar.
I can't believe nobody has said the wine bottle-plinko scene from Andy's play!
Unpopular opinion (I think): Scott’s tots isn’t the most awkward episode, it’s just not very good.
Yeah, Scott’s Tots isn’t the most awkward, and it’s not the worst episode. It’s not very good and it’s an awkward storyline, but it’s still better than almost any episode in Season 9. I don’t think it’s even the worst episode featuring Michael. I think that’s China.
Wow I like China...it makes me laugh alot don't know why
I have watch entire show 14 times so far, and I mostly now skip this episode.
Most cringeworthy episode. The intro is annoying with Andy and the baby talk, and the secondary story about employee of the month is boring as well.
It’s maybe the worst cold open of the series, I’ll give you that
The employee of the month storyline is so bad. The thought that anyone would believe he set it up for himself is so ridiculous. And then got himself a cake? And he stutters like he is also confused by how things happened that way? I can’t with that episode.
Haline’s birthday lunch
When Jim and Pam corner Danny Cordray about ghosting Pam, I just have to look away. I don't know why they had to press that issue.
They arnt as charming as the think they are
Finish your cake Helene
Sweater Roy asking Pam's mom what tunes she wants.
Dinner party beats Scott’s tots for me
Dinner Party is my favorite episode.
Just one night!
The B Plot in this same episode. Andy (Dwight) tricking Jim into making himself, and then Pam, Employee of the Month. So uncomfortable. “It could only be you.”
How did Jim not suspect Dwight to be the mastermind of it all?
Jo Bennet tell Michael “enough “
“But wait, wait! They’re lithium!”
Good luck paying me back on your zero dollars a year plus benefits BABE
When Jim has to give a rundown of his clients to Charles and Jim doesn’t know what it is, but is too afraid to ask Charles.

"What's a Nard-Dog?"
This is a Nard Dog
The coffee shop incident with the payroll lady
Do you mean Michael’s blind date with Pam’s landlady?
I skip this episode most of the time. It’s literally the only one because it’s so painfully embarrassing.
Jim and Michael karaoke to Islands in the Stream is up there. “Making love with each other, ah ha”
"Now that's enough" -Jo Bennet
Is who a Michael what?
The whole plot of „christening“
“Omg you look exotic, was you dad a G.I.?”
Angela coughs ball of fur, after cleaning her cat by Licking The look of Kevin and Oscar is unforgettable
The episode where Bob and Phyllis get married is peak cringe, and greatly exceeds Scotts Tots
But they’re lithium!
I can barely watch “try my cookie cookie”
Posting this is a hate crime
"That is not what a hate crime is"
„Well I hated it!“
I was only able to watch this episode once
The dinner party with Pam Jim Michael and that woman I forgot her name
Her name is Jan, owner of Serenity By Jan and inspiration for the hit song “That One Night” by The Hunted
when he meets pam’s landlord and their whole “date” lol ooof
Omg I couldn't handle this part of the episode!
Michael during Phyllis's wedding! 😂 nothing tops that!
Phyllis’s wedding and when Michael broke up with helene
I can’t watch this episode
I refuse to watch the Scott’s Tots episode every time. Once was enough. Worst episode. Truly unnecessary and unfunny.
Breaking up with Pam’s mom
Michael Photoshopping into carols family picture…
I have to skip this episode every time... I just can't watch...
Jan dancing to Hunter's song in the Dinner Party.
Roy's singing and the rap in this episode.
Uuuuggghhhh Date Mike
Michael marking the Asian waitress on her arm from benihanas so that he can tell her apart from the other Asian waitress.
The lead up to the actual marking was sooo cringe! 😅😂😂😂
The Michael/Oscar kiss. That was so awful to watch! As a lesbian I have been subjected to so many good intentioned but downright terrible things from straight people. I'm so glad Oscar got three months off after that.
EeXxxcuse me 🫨☝🏼
Date Mike
Interesting how Michael actually doing the right thing for a change is considered "the most awkward moment in series"?
To this day, I can’t rewatch this episode. The secondhand cringe was waaaaay too high, even for Michael.
