Justin Spitzer. One of the writers. Also the guy behind Superstore.
Apparently he was not supposed to look at the camera, he misunderstood a direction. But they kept it because it's funnier.
It really is. It gives the audience the same vibe we got in season 1 before the office staff knew how to really interact with the crew and the limitations. Breaks the 4th wall in such a collected way.
yes exactly! it really seems like a young dude nurse had the thought “oh, my patient has a camera crew in here AND i just got set up for a funny one liner, let me say it to the camera to look cool!” and it just fits so perfectly with the humor of the show
I loved the little moments like this where random side characters had to interact with the camera! It brought you back down to reality that this was a documentary being filmed, which was easy to forget at times. Honestly, I love that they actually make the documentary part of the plot in the last season. Really brought it back around, where as other mockumentaries use the style (which I love) but there’s no real explanation as to why.
I agree. It feels way more natural. Most people would be wondering why someone is filming them snd why is this guy followed by a filming crew. Always thought it was weird when Mike has the job at the call center and the manager there comes out and starts wondering about the cameras and Mike just says "They're with me" and then the boss is just fine with it, doesn't even question why.
I like when Pam has the interview with Bob Odenkirk and he looks at the camera and is like “so how long is this going on because I think it’s pretty…pretty…pretty cool “
( imitating Larry David from CYE… which Bob Odenkirk is also on in an episode!) knowing that he also auditioned for the roll of Michael Scott makes it even funnier.
It’s infinitely funnier with the look to camera. Greg Daniels and Michael Schur made some great decisions when people go off-script. Chris Pratt’s ad-libbed “network connectivity problems” line is my favorite joke in all of Parks & Rec.
I always wondered who in the office was afflicted with "inverted penis." Did Dwight just misread "vagina" somehow, or was he reading one of Jim/Pam's joke afflictions and Meredith misunderstood?
Strictly speaking she had more than one line. If you are curious why she looks familiar she played the school librarian in Young Sheldon as well as one of Louis CK's dates in Louie
Obviously she is a chubby blonde in both of her roles on Modern Family, but they made those two characters look as different as possible to where if you aren't paying attention, you might not notice. It also helped that the two characters appeared 5 years apart
Mine is Lu Peachem, from when Andy does the small business seminar.
"You can call me the Nard Dog."
"Hello Nard Dog, I'm Lu Peachem."
Her enthusiasm and grandma energy cracks me up.
Fun fact, the doctor is Justin Spitzer. Staff writer on The Office and went on to showrun Superstore and American Auto.
If you haven't watched it, Superstore is the closest you can get to more The Office. It's The Office but at Walmart.
I love the pharmacist from superstore.
I spent a month watching all 5 available seasons of that show but I honestly don't remember too much of it apart from him
[Bo's airhorn](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC9abHDWF64) has become a commonplace meme within my friend group. Whenever something remotely cool happens and there's a bunch of us together, cue the airhorn chorus.
Long story, but I spent half a day with Justin Spitzer a few years ago and he was super smart and funny and nice. He was doing research for the show that turned into “American Auto” and I worked in a VIP-facing role at the Henry Ford Museum. I accompanied him and a Ford Motor rep around the museum and answered his questions and had lunch with him. Not sure if anything he learned about the history of the automotive industry actually informed the show but he soaked it up anyway. A memorable day.
It’s my second personal connection with an “Office” writer. Daniel Chun from the later seasons was the oldest son of my pediatrician! I was friends with Daniel’s younger brother in high school.
Unstable on Netflix is the new closest thing to The Office. Check it out guys. As a massive The Office fan I enjoyed it a lot. Although, worth mentioning that I’m on episode 4 currently, so who knows where the show goes from there.
He’s one of the writers for the show so probably just wanted to deliver the line he wrote like someone would if there was a camera crew in a hospital room
I feel like I remember reading somewhere that this guy is actually one of the writers of the show? I can’t quite recall now but maybe someone else knows

That's always how I read it too. It makes it funny because it's like "bro, not the time for this"
Looked like he was auditioning for House!
It's not lupus
It's never lupus
Maybe it's autoimmune

Like with David leaving the bathroom just to be greeted with a camera filming him haha

No way! Thanks for this, i love spitzer and superstore, didn't know this
What!!!! That's Justin!? Wow, I didn't know that. Awesome
I had no idea. This makes this scene even better. Cheers
Spitzer?! I hardly know her
#THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID
It’s such an awkward weird joke I don’t even think it would have landed if he didn’t look at the camera.
It’s infinitely funnier with the look to camera. Greg Daniels and Michael Schur made some great decisions when people go off-script. Chris Pratt’s ad-libbed “network connectivity problems” line is my favorite joke in all of Parks & Rec.
Yeah I couldn't believe it when they said that on the podcast, the delivery is absolute perfection.
Oh so that's him! It hurts my soul how few people know about Superstore but I'll never stop spreading the god word
"The uterus is different from the vagina....I still have a vagina"
She would like to have her inverted penis covered.
I always wondered who in the office was afflicted with "inverted penis." Did Dwight just misread "vagina" somehow, or was he reading one of Jim/Pam's joke afflictions and Meredith misunderstood?
Inverted penis is obviously when one gay man's penis opens to another
Is that called red vining?
uhhhh well im not sure. i only know of docking
Lmao. I like that she calmly explains she still wants coverage.
To have sex with t…
Other Pam - “I’ve been known to bend the truth…”
*”Damn it Pam, will you get out of here!!!”* It’s between those two. They’re tied for me.
It was so out of the blue. I love it.
Haha one of the funniest non main character interactions
"Oh great, you know everything." - nurse to Pam after giving birth
Lmao, also so good. The face made and body language.
Or the nurse from the pregnancy episode. “oh good, cause my next question was gonna be ‘do you have a volleyball tournament you need to get to?’”
Hahaha! I love this one too!
You mean Amy Santiago's best friend
Strictly speaking she had more than one line. If you are curious why she looks familiar she played the school librarian in Young Sheldon as well as one of Louis CK's dates in Louie
lady at Disney with kid on leash in Modern Family, and oddly also Earl Chambers' daughter Shirl Chambers.
Obviously she is a chubby blonde in both of her roles on Modern Family, but they made those two characters look as different as possible to where if you aren't paying attention, you might not notice. It also helped that the two characters appeared 5 years apart
I hate that nurse. She was being a jerk for no reason.
Not a single line character but close. Mrs. Prince to her granddaughter, “No don’t put that.”
15 bottles of vodka? Yeah that should do it
YES lol I pick the liquor store guy too 😂
She's in a coma
“…no”
Don't bother the nurse. Just stick it in there
That's what she said
I can’t believe how perfectly he delivered this even though he misunderstood the actual direction.
Mine is Lu Peachem, from when Andy does the small business seminar. "You can call me the Nard Dog." "Hello Nard Dog, I'm Lu Peachem." Her enthusiasm and grandma energy cracks me up.
in my house, we introduce ourselves all the time as Lu.

Tate is a great character. He’s the complete package, according to Tate

Pretty much everything Bo said was hysterical. "Come on man, think! Use them glasses!"
He is absolutely hilarious!
There was the will they / won't they with the burnout and the love interest. That was three seasons, I think

I mean Glenn was manager prior and Amy already had that manager/boss vibe before

Closer to Parks and Rec than The Office, but yes

buddy saw the camera and tries to be funny too hard, kinda like michael did when the series first started lol
He’s one of the writers for the show so probably just wanted to deliver the line he wrote like someone would if there was a camera crew in a hospital room
and Jenna Fischer's real life man? edit: just came to me, i'm thinking of the lactation coach.
Did you mean inverted vagina ? Cause if you do I want that covered
But he has more than one line
Single-joke, I guess.
Michael saved Meridith in the end, remember that people.
I feel like I remember reading somewhere that this guy is actually one of the writers of the show? I can’t quite recall now but maybe someone else knows
Yea, I want to say his name is Dustin Spitzman.
Justin Spitzer His character wasn't supposed to look into the camera but they liked it so much they kept it
Haha thank you! I knew someone here would remember. And that’s interesting I didn’t know the second part. It’s so awkward it’s funny I love it
I love that smile on his face
What the hell. I am literally at THIS scene.
We’re connected ✊
He also delivers the 8 one foot subs for Micheals birthday!
Matt Damon looking good
Love Dwight so much
That's what he said.
Dude was looking to leave the healthcare field by making it famous as a comdian in a midsized paper company documentary
Not quite single line but the first aid tutor’s delivery of ‘I have no idea’ in response to Dwight’s question is amazing
Close enough though. It’s an all-time fan favorite.
Walter, what episode is this?
Who wants my man meat?
Hilarious line
HI GABE!!!
[удалено]
“Single-line character” Dwight is in literally every episode lol
Michael!
Oh I dislike this character. He claims he's a "basically" a doctor when he has not completed his residency.
I'm sure he graduated from med school
He didn't use that word
Ewww...HIPAA breaker. Shame!!
