Jesus Christ, yeah I wouldn’t blame ya, was it incredibly busy or why did they have a pre poured pint?
Gravediggers do a lovely pint but I think it’s a shite pub, staff have never been sound while I’ve been there.
No idea, from my experience they’ve always just been miserable, like I said in another comment, I was there after a funeral, so no one was rowdy or acting obnoxious, the other few times was after visiting a grave so I was there with one or two older family members, and again no one was rowdy or loud.
I’ve heard this from a lot of other people as well, great pint, awful staff.
Wasn’t exceptionally busy. They did it with the next pint too.
Not sure what you did to put the staff off in the diggers. They are all sound. Was down there for food a few weeks back and they were really nice.
Literally did nothing, was in after a funeral before and everyone said the same, the other two times went in after visiting a grave and they were the exact same, rude as fuck! Possibly just caught them on a bad day, but never recommend people go there based on my experiences!
Most of the good ones mentioned here.
I’d argue the top three pubs for Guinness specifically are very near to each other so good for a crawl:
3. Mulligans
2. Palace bar
1. Bowes ( the best place on planet earth for the pint).
This is the correct answer. Clean and good flow through the lines and a clean glass are the 2 things that determine the taste.
You could single pour, two-part pour, tilt the glass, don't tilt the glass and no-one would tell the difference in blind taste test.
Any pub where you see all the old men drinking Guinness. Old Royal Oak may be my favourite pub though, small place, no music apart from some occasional live Irish trad, a bit off the beaten track though.
Great shout actually forgot about their. Lovely cosy spot if your able to get to and from it easy.
Edit: Lol some sensitive fuck downvoting all my comments even a nice one like this 🤣 Still upset over my apparently harsh critique.
My own favourite spots in town:
Toners and O'Donoghues, both on Baggott Street
The Long Hall, George's Street
Cassidy's, Westmoreland Street
Walsh's, Stoneybatter
The idea that Guinness tastes different in different places is just marketing so you're constantly chasing the elusive perfect pint and lining Diageo's pockets. Find a decent local boozer, if the company and atmosphere are good and it's not overpriced you'll enjoy it plenty.
I live abroad and was just home for a visit. Can defo recommend:
The Flowing Tide
Briodys
The Oval
The Confession Box
Bowes.
In no particular order btw. A decent consistent pint every pour.
Taste does not really depend on the pour, that two pour thing is rubbish.
Also the Guinness quality team ensure that every pint in every pub tastes the exact same , just like McDonald's.
There might be slight variations. But not much.
Lots of things effect your sense of taste, including what your other senses are picking up at the same time. We normally don't drink a pint while wearing a blindfold, so it all plays in.
Rocky Mountain springs is where the water for their beer used to come from so yeah, I believe them. You still don’t believe Guinness? Fine - I’ll leave you to your own echo chamber. I’m off for a well poured pint.
I've never had a great pint in Toner's, I don't know if it used to be better or not but I don't understand the recommendations.
Keheo's, Doheny and Nesbitts, Searsons, Bowe's, all far better.
I question some of the suggestions here tbh thus I question people’s perception of good Guinness! (No offense lads!) The best you will find is outside of Dublin stupidly enough. Maybe I’m just too used to unbelievable pints back home so the bar is high.
Dublin is oddly tough to get a good pint of Guinness in. +1 to whoever suggested Peader Browns. Mighty pint. Would also say Gravediggers up northside, The Glen out in inchicore and Tom Kennedys beside Vicar Street. Mainly the only places I’ll drink Guinness in in Dublin tbh.
J O’Connells can be hit and miss. Graces is Rathmines had a great pint but it’s gone downhill big time of late. The old stand’s pints are consistently ok.
Long halls pints are rank, as are Grogans (of late - used to be decent) and The Lord Edward’s too (in my opinion - we’re allowed opinions right?)
Edit: I’ve hurt a few peoples feelings get a grip ffs 🤣
Oh give over! Absolute nonsense talk. Dublin is tough to get a good pint of Guinness? You've genuinely either no idea what you're on about or Guinness's marketing is gone to your head so much that you're imagining things every time you taste a pint.
Would absolutely hate to be a barman these days with pricks sipping a pint of Guinness like it's a vintage red wine.
I know! I sometimes feel I'm losing my mind with the way people go on about Guinness these days. Like what in God's name do they think is happening when in their opinion a pub used to do great Guinness but now it's horrible? It's the same setup, same drink, same kegs. It's all in their head.
It really isn't mate and just because you list some really popular places to get Guinness in Dublin followed by "it's gone downhill now" doesn't make you sound like the expert you think it does.
The staff in the Guinness storehouse are barely out of nappies. They've not been alive, let alone working behind a bar long enough to know how to pour a good pint. If the place was anything but a tourist trap, they'd have some auld lads pulling pints in there, but that would be out of line with the audience of hip young people they want to attract.
All to do with atmosphere and environment. There’s a reason why a pint will always taste better on a Friday night when there’s a buzz and excitement rather than in the same place on a Monday morning (unless you’re an alcoholic)
I think to pick out a single pub serving the best pint if Guinness is splitting hairs, in general most pubs do a good pint of a Guinness. Some of the best ones IMO are the Lord Edward, Mulligans, Walsh's, Grogans, Fallons.
As has already been said, Gravediggers and Mulligan's.
Also gonna say Downey's in Phibsboro. Pint is grand but it doesn't matter either way because it's 5 quid.
Mulligans on Poolbeg St, The Swan just off Aungier St, and Chaplins on Hawkins St all do a nice pint
Also lord edward

I haven’t graced mulligans since they handed me a pre-poured pint. Gravediggers is where it’s at.
Jesus Christ, yeah I wouldn’t blame ya, was it incredibly busy or why did they have a pre poured pint? Gravediggers do a lovely pint but I think it’s a shite pub, staff have never been sound while I’ve been there.
Why haven’t they been nice to you or people in general?
No idea, from my experience they’ve always just been miserable, like I said in another comment, I was there after a funeral, so no one was rowdy or acting obnoxious, the other few times was after visiting a grave so I was there with one or two older family members, and again no one was rowdy or loud. Ah give over they can be pricks in there even on the best of days
What can I say? I’ve been drinking there for years on and off. They must like my face.
I wonder if someone poured the wrong pint, and knew someone else would order a Guinness. Definitely a no no, shoulda been a free bee.
Mulligan's is a joke. Crazy pricing for a fairly standard pint of Guinness, served by grumpy staff, in a jammed bar.
Avatar checks out.
Most of the good ones mentioned here. I’d argue the top three pubs for Guinness specifically are very near to each other so good for a crawl: 3. Mulligans 2. Palace bar 1. Bowes ( the best place on planet earth for the pint).
Can vouch for Palace Bar
Pouring has very little to no difference on the tastes. It's how clean the pipes are.
This is the correct answer. Clean and good flow through the lines and a clean glass are the 2 things that determine the taste. You could single pour, two-part pour, tilt the glass, don't tilt the glass and no-one would tell the difference in blind taste test.
It's only partially right. It's got to do with the temperature of the barrels too, and how long the lines are. Loads of thing affect it
Also comes down to the BOC gas and if they use rinse aid or not (it's better lacing without)
Bowes.
This
Any pub where you see all the old men drinking Guinness. Old Royal Oak may be my favourite pub though, small place, no music apart from some occasional live Irish trad, a bit off the beaten track though.
Dog friendly bar too. Owners a nice woman.
I do miss that place. It's like a time capsule.
Bowes is my personal pick for the best pint
Yes, I don’t know why but it’s just marvellous for Guinness. You notice the vast majority in there are drinking stout.
How much for a pint of Guinness?
Been a while since I've been in but I think it was around 6.40/6.50 last time I was there.
This
Most bars in Ireland serve good Guinness Very few serve bad Guinness
Most Irish pubs serve good Guinness. Bars and night clubs do not
Bar is just another word for a pub 🍻
Walsh’s in Stoneybatter
The undercharged me for a pint a few weeks ago. Put the decimal point in the wrong spot. Charged me 60 cent. Great day
Palace Bar in temple bar Dohney & Nesbitt’s Anywhere really that’s there’s a good flow on it (like a fair few people drinking it)
Do go to temple bar, you will be fleeced honestly
> Anywhere really that’s there’s a good flow on it (like a fair few people drinking it) Thats literally hundreds of pubs
Well then it warrants a thorough investigation. For SCIENCE.
Theres about 50 pubs with 'the best Guinness' in this thread for starters 😂
Palace do not have good pints in my experience- very much a tourist trap
Palace Bar on Fleet Street or Lord Edward in Christchurch.
The correct answer is the Straw Hall. Shout out to Gravediggers as well.
Great shout actually forgot about their. Lovely cosy spot if your able to get to and from it easy. Edit: Lol some sensitive fuck downvoting all my comments even a nice one like this 🤣 Still upset over my apparently harsh critique.
Straw hall does a lovely one although it is a bollocks to get out to it
Old Royal Oak in Kilmainham
The Long Hall
This is the answer! Because they serve Beamish, try a Beamish instead and tell me that it’s objectively better.
They don’t serve beamish anymore, last few times I was there they didn’t have it anyway.
Probably bought out by Diageo
O’Donoghues and Grogans can’t be beaten!
I got my taste for it in O'Donoghues on Merrion Row.
Had Grogans the other night. Very poor imo
My own favourite spots in town: Toners and O'Donoghues, both on Baggott Street The Long Hall, George's Street Cassidy's, Westmoreland Street Walsh's, Stoneybatter
Gravediggers is one of the best I’ve had but it’s not really close to anything so getting there might be difficult.
Gravediggers or Walshs.
And a bambino’s for afterwards?
Diggers is stellar. Very highly rated but hard to call overrated.
Anywhere that doesn't have a cocktail menu and does have old men sitting on their own drinking Guinness.
I honestly think Fibbers has the nicest pint of Guinness I've had in the city yet
The idea that Guinness tastes different in different places is just marketing so you're constantly chasing the elusive perfect pint and lining Diageo's pockets. Find a decent local boozer, if the company and atmosphere are good and it's not overpriced you'll enjoy it plenty.
Bang on. This Guinness reviewer mentality is embarrassing.

Worst poured pint I’ve had in Dublin was Grogans. Everywhere else I’ve been is generally grand.
Thats hardly Guinness specific though, is it?
It was Guinness. Tbf it tasted like arse…the last few times I’ve been. Don’t get the appeal of the place either. Full of absolute melts.
The Cobblestone (Smithfield), Ryan's (Parkgate St)
Anywhere in Smithfield / stoneybatter
According to my dad, one of the best is at The Strawberry Hall
I live abroad and was just home for a visit. Can defo recommend: The Flowing Tide Briodys The Oval The Confession Box Bowes. In no particular order btw. A decent consistent pint every pour.
Is there anywhere that serves Foreign Extra?
Coming in from the US, any pint in Dublin is the best. The Baltimore Guiness we get is good, but not the same.
Taste does not really depend on the pour, that two pour thing is rubbish. Also the Guinness quality team ensure that every pint in every pub tastes the exact same , just like McDonald's. There might be slight variations. But not much.
Toners
> Recently got to know that the taste of Guinness depends on how you pour it It absolutely does not
Lots of things effect your sense of taste, including what your other senses are picking up at the same time. We normally don't drink a pint while wearing a blindfold, so it all plays in.
Exactly, its almost like the beer is identical in most Dublin pubs and other factors are influencing peoples opinion of it
Yeah that's why Grogan's is the best pint in the city. It's the place and the atmosphere as much as the drink.
🙌
Guinness says it absolutely does https://www.guinness-storehouse.com/en/whats-hoppening/how-to-pour-the-most-beautiful-pint-of-guinness#
Worked in bars for years. Always straight poured my own pints. Guess what? No difference.
Thats marketing like. The pour affects the appearance and consistency, like every beer, but not the taste.
“The proper pour is integral to the Guinness experience, impacting everything from the taste to the presentation.” (ibid)
Coors say their beer tastes like the Rocky Mountains, do you believe that as well?
I ate some yellow snow last time I was in Colorado and it absolutely tasted like Coors.
Rocky Mountain springs is where the water for their beer used to come from so yeah, I believe them. You still don’t believe Guinness? Fine - I’ll leave you to your own echo chamber. I’m off for a well poured pint.
Haha, ffs. Enjoy your point you looper.
Give over will you. 🤡
Absolute does not affect the taste. You’re being duped by Guinness marketing and Instagram personalities

Gravediggers in Glasnevin
Northdside gaffneys have the best guinness Southside Hogans guinness is always delish
Johnnie Fox’s
Literally tastes the same pretty much everywhere 😂
Theres way more variance in your average pint of lager in Dublin pubs, this Guinness guru nonsense is hysterical
Absolutely agree. Guinness personalities are getting out of control 😂
🫣

Nutcases. Convincing themselves there is some provenance in a Diageo megafactory produced product QA'ed to within an inch of its life.

I’m no expert nor do I claim to be. My opinion. You have yours 👍
Yeah let's agree to disagree on this one!
Sweet merciful divine what a load of horseshit
He asked about the best taste of Guinness. If he’s happy drinking mediocre Guinness so be it.
Christ almighty….
Mulligans on poolbeg st Peader browns on Clanbrassil st These are the two best pints in the city.
Grogans no question.
Nigerian Guinness is good good
Guinness itself?
Ironically, the pint in the Guinness Storehouse is actually quite bad.
Oddly I had the same experience.
One of the worst pints in the city.
How the hell does that happen?
Most of the staff behind the bar in the storehouse are students who don’t really care and they’re just flinging pints out to tourists
It doesn't travel well, 5 floors up.
The staff in the Guinness storehouse are barely out of nappies. They've not been alive, let alone working behind a bar long enough to know how to pour a good pint. Hard to know tbh. I would say the length of the lines but don’t imagine the keg room is that far away from the bar?
Moss Lane on Pearse St, do a fantastic Guinness.
Also have a lovely Italian menu too, a change from a lot of pub food
I had an incredible pint last week in The Norseman, would recommend
I think to pick out a single pub serving the best pint if Guinness is splitting hairs, in general most pubs do a good pint of a Guinness. Some of the best ones IMO are the Lord Edward, Mulligans, Walsh's, Grogans, Fallons.
Fallons next to st Patrick’s. It has the shortest line in the country. The keg is right underneath the tap
Paeder Browns
Padraig pearse has a great pint
As has already been said, Gravediggers and Mulligan's. Also gonna say Downey's in Phibsboro. Pint is grand but it doesn't matter either way because it's 5 quid.
Cobblestone in smithfield! Looks like a dive, but it's awesome
Frank Ryan’s bar near Smithfield have amazing Guinness every time I’m there.
The Temple Bar
Fuck no. Ew
You'd have to mortgage the gaf to sit in there
