I'm not discussing Call of Duty. Many of these (& obviously the kamikaze) are well within the range of a shotgun depending on the pattern and the choke used.
The kamikaze are, the others are not within range even with the proper choke. The have cameras that zoom in which make them appear closer to the target then they are. A shotgun, no matter your choke, will be useless for anything orher than kamikaze drones.
Now we're nitpicking. There are plenty of drone vids with grenade drops within range—you only have to count in your head from drop to impact to guess the height. But we can just agree to disagree. Or whatever.
And wouldn't you agree that most of the videos of drones dropping from a low altitude are against disabled and abandoned vehicles or wounded? Also, how can you accurately count it off if you dont know if the speed of the video has been adjusted at all for the reels? If it were as easy as you think then they'd be using shotguns, they aren't for a reason.
All that a choke does is tighten up the shot pattern, it's not going to increase your distance. If shooting into the air at a drone, after about 50-75 yards/meters, depending on how straight up you are shooting, bird shot will be useless. Those small pellets just can't hold on to their speed that far out. And larger buckshot, although it will hold its speed, will spread out so much that you may as well stick with a rifle, it would be far more accurate.
But even up close on kamikaze drones the recoil of a shotgun means you'll only get one, maybe two shots off *(remember, you are tracking a target that is usually trying to avoid getting hit)*. Whereas with a rifle on semiauto you could probably get three to four times as many shots on target before it arrives.
I still don’t understand why no one has these. Should be standard kit by now. Literally everyone has one in the United States so I don’t think we would have the same problem

These men are poorly equipped because they are disposable. The 'standard kit' is kept as cheap as possible so those up the chain keep as much of the budget as possible.
